Ark finally said to his companion after a moment of silence wherein they both watched as Aiva left the castle grounds. The dragon had a feeling this wouldn't be the last time she requested a full apology, and he knew Damiano would sooner die than give an apology to the shade. The passion stirred in the Maghi Anima was known to the dragon. It was something other magi should be wary of, if only to keep unsuspecting magi from getting on the bad side of the order.
replied a calm and indifferent Damiano. He composed himself as Aiva left. The lady had a hot temper (he was sure of that) and a pride to match it. No, this was not over, not by a long shot. They would confront each other once again, and hopefully that time will bring more outcomes.
Before either the dragon or the magus could speak again, Vilya began to call out in an excited manner. Shifting his gaze in her direction, Damiano felt the serious matters simply wash away. She was very much like a child, jogging about in hope to get to the festivities sooner. Damiano couldn’t help but chuckle, which Arkanathalasana reiterated. Their moods lifted, Damiano and Ark followed after Vilya. It was at this moment that Ark decided to say something to Damiano he probably should have mentioned sooner, Damiano replied in pleasant tones. He gave no second thoughts about the gryphon. He had come here to enjoy the festivities of this grand event and he would let no business spoil his evening.

Tired as he was Sai could not help but let himself be carried away with Vilyas excitement. At least if they went into the village and joined the festivities he might finally be able to find something to eat. He used his staff for a walking stick as he followed after the exuberant young lady mage.
Sai said with a mental chuckle.

Vilya raced down the paved road to the village. She imagined Tura would be soaring over her head any second now. She had told the gryphon to meet her on the roof of the Damsel and Dragon, the modest inn at the base of the main street. That would be the perfect vantage point for the parade, and probably the fireworks the sage had promised as well. Once she had reached the town gates she could already see the bright lights and colored costumes that made up a vast part of the train. The sound of drums, trumpets and a multitude of other instruments filled her ears and fueled her excitement. Vilya cut through a little sidestreet and used a few old crates to clamber onto the rooftops and continue from there.
((Okies, once everyone gets to where they are going I`ll press the fastforward button and we`ll end the festival and Sai can bring out the Guard. *evil laugh*))

Stratus said to Sai.
"Hey," Sai called out to the other combatants. "Me and Stratus are going to go on ahead. See you guys there."
Stratus had lifted off from the his resting place beneath the tree while Sai spoke and now swooped in to land in a crouch next to him. Sai clambered onto his back and Stratus lifted off again with only a few beats of his large feathered wings. The two of them soared low in the sky across the distance until they were soaring over the village itself, and the heart of the festival at that.
Sai said and pointed to a an alleyway between buildings.
Stratus glided down and landed on the edge of the rooftop of one of the buildings that formed the alleyway. Sai held on tightly to his partners neck while the dragon climbed down the wall and into the alley.
Sai said, still speaking telepathically so that he could be heard over the sound of the milling villagers.
Sai clambered down from Stratus' back and walked out of the alley, still using his staff for support. He immediately spotted a stand selling food and wandered over to buy something. He purchased several sugared coated cakes for himself, and then went into a nearby in to buy a half dozen raw steaks for Stratus. He then went back to the alley where he had left his partner and climbed back onto his back.
Stratus said as he climbed back up the wall.
Once they were perched atop the roof again Sai handed the paper wrapped parcel of raw meat to Stratus who took it in one taloned hand/paw. Stratus and Sai each unwrapped their packages ad began to eat while observing the goings on of the festival from their rooftop vantage point.

Bam! The table vibrated with a vicious sound as another back of someone's hand slammed down against it.
"The winner!"
The crowd cheered as the referee once again raised his hand for Minatsuki.
"Nice grip, but you should watch your wrist!" "You've got a quite a grip there, Missy!"
Laughing heartily, Minatsuki shook her hands with a man who seem to be as twice as wide and tall as her with extremely buff and muscular limbs.
one game where I don't have to!>
Asako gave a mental sigh, nicely perched in a crater of people that did not wish to get burned by her flames. Little kids came close out of curiosities and ran away giggling when Asako licked their stretched out fingers with warm and benign flames. Looking up at the sky and around her, Asako stood up, flapping her wings gently, creating a bigger hole in the crowd.
Kicking up from her seat, Minatsuki ran towards Asako with haste despite the moans of people when they saw her leave.
"Miss, your prize!"
When Minatsuki mounted Asako, the referee came running after her and threw her a small leather bag, just before she took off.
"Thanks!"
Waving to the referee, the two soared higher in the sky, hoping to get a better view in the sky.

Commander Aruhl Gregor had waited only moments after the apprentice had left before gathering his men in a central chamber within the tower. He had then commanded 9 of his eleven soldiers and his second in command to go into the village and observe, they could even partake of the festival if they wanted so long as they learned about the village, the villagers, and the festival. They had been in the village for some time already, milling about. He kept one soldier with him and the two of them set about exploring and examining the castle.

((Bad post due to lack of time, sorry. X-X))
Lamen gave Vilya and Tura her thanks, and with their permission climbed upon the gryphon's back. It seemed that she was to ride all sorts of creatures today- the thought amused her. Well, it was a festival, after all.
The flight was different from that of larger creatures like Simurgh or dragons-it was a lot like the difference between an elephant and a galloping horse. It was easier to hold on without a harness, so she did not need any spell to aid her- however, although Tura's flight was swift and graceful, to Lamen it was increasingly dizzying at every flap of the gryphon's wings. She barely noticed Vilya miraculously keeping up with them on ground, or some of Simurgh fluttering up behind.
When she got off onto the roof, slightly disoriented, she stumbled slightly. "Huh ..." She clung to the roof's strategically placed fence who was nearby. "This proves that my health is seriously lacking. I apologize for my horrible riding- thank you, Tura."

Tura smoothed the feathers on her back gingerly with her beak and gave an exaggerated shrug. The parade was in full swing now and not long after Vilya joined them. It had been a real effort to keep up but as she sat down next to her companion, red faced and breathing heavily a wide smile spread across her features.
If Vilya had thought the parade was amazing, the fireworks proved to be even better. She had never seen fire works before and was amazed at the shapes and colors that burst into the sky. One particularly impressive one had sparkling replicas of each of Brantalis' dragons looping in and out of the smoke left by the previous explosions. Finally they all converged and erupted in a dazzling fountain of sparks that whistled and crackled right down to the earth, showering the crowds with harmless glitter.
((Hits ffw button)) It was getting late, people were already beginning to abandon the streets, either continuing the celebration in their own homes, or else making ready for a pleasant nights sleep. Tura stifled a yawn and she and Vilya helped Lamen down from the roof. ((Hope you don't mind Mythee)) "You're really tired." Vilya patted the gryphon's wing in a motherly way. Tura shot her a disgruntled look from half-closed eyes, then heaved a sigh.
Tura had taken the liberty to investigate where Brantalis had planned to let them stay. The rooms were vast, white marble wonders with silk sheets on the beds, gossamer curtains over glass doors leading to balconies and hundreds of other small luxuries only found in the wealthiest of noble homes. Both quarters were set as four private bedrooms attached to one fully furnished common room complete with fireplace, indoor fountain and miniature library. 'these are the dorms I use for the students I school for half the year.' Brantalis had said. 'One wing for the girls, the other for boys, I hope you find it to your liking.' Tura ached for the special aerie-like bed that had been made for her in Vilya's room. She sent her companion as well as Simurgh a mental image of where they would be staying. "Wow, that certainly is fancy." Vilya said, not really paying attention. Tura asked, a little annoyed.
Vilya couldn't answer the gryphon. Tura dismissed them with a flick of her tail and walked on. Just then she spotted Sai and Stratus, and hailed the feathered dragon with a mental greeting.

((Big post guys, get comfy. And be prepared.))
Sai and Stratus had both also been about to head back to the castle and search for their sleeping quarters. Neither of them had taken the time to look at the rooms beforehand and had no idea if they were staying in a palace or a closet, they'd find out when they got back.
Stratus responded to Turas hail with a groggy response. Despite the rest that he had gotten under the tree in Brantalis' courtyard he was still quite tired. On top of that Sai had not rested much at all and Stratus could feel his exhaustion through their bond which was making him feel more tired than he really was.
((Haha! I said the right name this time!))
Sai asked.
Sai said with a mental grin.
Sai clambered onto Stratus' back and the two of them took to the air. Only a few minutes later they arrived back at the castle. They landed in the courtyard again and, after Sai had gracefully fallen off of his back, Stratus walked back to his tree and curled up beneath it again.
Stratus said sleepily.
"Ugh..." Sai groaned and walked in the entrance to the castle.
He wandered aimlessly for a while, using his staff to keep himself held up. Without it he was sure he would have missed a step a long time ago and he was to tired to get back up if he fell. He had no idea where he was or where he was going, he just knew he was looking for a bed and once he found one he was laying in it and going to sleep.
Only a few hallways down from where Sai was wandering Commander Aruhl Gregor walked briskly into a room and shut the door behind him. The whole story about coming to the village to scout the castle and observe the festival were a farce. Aruhl had obtained extensively detailed descriptions of both from his informant. His superiors did not know this of course, he still had plans for this little village and for that the majority of his higher-ups had to be blissfully ignorant if he intended to implement them. He walked more into the room and found his informant, Josu, one of Brantalis' apprentices waiting inside.
"Well, Josu, have you found anything for me?"
"I told you in the last message that I sent that there is nothing to be found. Brantalis is an honorable man. I have tried, but there is nothing in his history that could be exploited as a reason for the Guard to occupy this village."
"You disapoint me, Josu, even rumors of something terrible would be enough for an investigation."
"I had thought of that, but the rumors would never leave the village. The people here love Brantalis, any rumors against him would be quashed in very short order."
"Well, Josu, you have left me with no other option. If misdeed cannot be found in this village, then it will have to be created." Aruhl said as he unsheathed his straitsword from its sheath at his right hip. ((Aruhls a lefty, I don't know why...))
"Gregor, what are you doing? You said that if I helped you you would take me back to the capitol and I could join the Guard. You said you see me promoted early too." Josu said as he backed against the wall, desperation in his voice. "Don't do this Gregor, I am loyal to you. I served you."
"Yes you did, and now you will serve me well, by causing the chaos and scandal that I need in order to move entire squads of Guards into this village. This village will be ours, and it is all thanks to you, you should feel honored."
"Gregor, Nooo--" Josu's voice cut off as Aruhls sword stabbed directly into his heart. He gave a slight flourish as he withdrew the bloody blade that cast beads of blood across the walls.
"Yes, you have served me well."
Sai still wandered, he made his way stumblingly to a door and pushed it open. The door opened just in time for him to see a member of those red clad Guards withdraw his sword from another mans chest and swing blood over he walls.
"Yes, you have served me well." The man said coldly.
Sai thought to his partner, feeling shock settle in.
Stratus sensed the change in Sais' mental attitude immediately.
Despite what he said, Sai still stood there in shock as the unfortunate man fell to the floor, his eyes open but unseeing and blood already pooling around him. He had never seen another human die before. It was not something that he thought he would ever want to see again.
The man holding the bloodstained sword leaned down and casually wiped his blade on the dead mans clothes. It wasn't until he stood again that he turned and finally saw Sai standing there. His eyes were the only visible part of his face and they widened in surprise, then narrowed back to their usual cold confidence.
"A witness, huh, not for long." He said near emotionlessly.
"You killed that man." Sai said bluntly.
"Yes, yes I did. And now that you know that I cannot allow you to leave here alive."
"You're going to try to kill me too?"
"I will not try, I will kill you." Aruhl said and lunged forward swinging his sword up to stab at Sais chest as he had the other man.
Sai felt adrenaline flood his body, energy coursed through him once more. He darted back and drew his sword from its sheath at the back of his waist. His staff whirled in his left hand and deflected the Guards blade to one side then he spun his sword around in his hand and slashed for the mans middle.
Aruhl was surprised by the young combatants speed and skill, but he lacked the decades of experience that had made himself so lethal with a blade. He spun twisted his wrist and levered his sword down in a swift motion that blocked the combatants slash easily. He put his strength into it and thrust the other mans blade away from his body and darted back so that the were each out of reach of the others sword.
"Not bad. It's a shame we hadn't had the chance to recruit you. You would have made a fine Guard. It is unfortunate that such skill must be wasted by your untimely demise, here and now. And, just so you understand, you never had a chance." Aruhl raised his hand and pointed his palm at Sai. Though Sai could not see it he smirked beneath his scarf, then a large and deafening explosion ripped apart the doorway where Sai stood. When the flames died away and the dust settled slighly there was nothing where the blast had occured, no doorway, and no combatant. "And victory is mine."
"Holy s**t! What the hell was that!?" Sai said as he picked himself up off the floor out in the hallway, just outside of the blast radius.
The red clad Guardsman whipped around the ruined corner out to the hallway in a second. "You're still alive, how?"
"A little trick I like to call 'jump the hell out of the way'".
"You wont be so lucky next time."
"Next time!? I'm getting the hell out of here!" Sai said and swung his hand out as though grabbing for something and pulling it to his chest. "Ventas!" A gust of wind formed and blew right into Sai throwing him headlong down the hallway and out the window at the end.
Sai though as he fell through the air with shards of the shattered window falling all around him. He righted himself with another small gust of wind and landed nimbly on his feet. As soon as he felt solid ground beneath him he took off at a sprint. That man could cast without an incantation, he couldn't compete with that.
Aruhl made it to the shattered window in time to see the young combatant dart around a corner of the castle and out of site.
Damn it, this is going to make things quite a bit more complicated.
Behind him, down the hallway, the other eleven members of his unit appeared and ran to him.
"Sir, we heard the explosion. What's going on?"
Aruhl turned to his second and constructed a story in a split second. "There's been a murder, I want you and you five," He said with a gesture to five of his men, "to stay here and investigate. Make a report to the capitol as soon as possible. The rest of you are with me. I saw a man running from the scene, there's a chance he could have been involved. Now, Let's go!"
That said he and his men leapt from the same window that Sai had escaped through and began their pursuit.
Stratus was in the air already and found Sai in only a few moments. He swooped down and Sai leapt directly onto his back without either of them breaking pace. Stratus flapped hard and regained his altitude quickly.
Stratus asked.
Sai reached into himself and drew out what little strength had returned to him since the battle with Brantilis and focused it all together. "Creo tempestas!" He sent out his energy into this one spell. In minutes the sky began to darken slightly and a wind kicked up from the south.
The two of them rode the wind, which increased their speed, and soon it would begin to rain, which might help them avoid detection. They would probably have to travel through the night if they intended to make it far enough so that they could even risk sleeping without the chance of that Guardsman catching him, if he was indeed pursuing, but it was better to be safe. Off to the north they flew, and into the night, riding a storm for speed and cover.
((Oh, and excuse my grammatical errors, I've never understood where the thing goes at the end of a persons name to show possession... Can't remember the name of the thing right now either...))

It had been a long, albeit entertaining day in the village where the festival of dragons took place. Damiano was proud of Ark, who had won the admiration of many villagers earlier today. Damiano, himself, had enjoyed the spell-flourish competition. Artistic styles were his specialty, after all, and he had been quite anxious to try his personalized techniques in a real match.
He had found his dormitory easily enough. He proceeded to wish those around him a good evening before settling in his room for the night. Arkanathalasana had chosen to stay outside this evening, or rather, Damiano chose for him. The dragon had protested originally, feeling it may be more comfortable in the mask. The dragon slept peacefully, however, with a space large enough to fit the size of his draconic body. Damiano's bed was no different from the one he remembered from his own house: Very comfortable.
~~~~~
Damiano had been asleep for quite some time when he heard a loud crash outside the dormitories. He found Ark poking his head into his room, looking equally alarmed. Damiano commanded. The dragon obeyed without question. One of the benefits of his early training was being able to keep his head, even if it only just awakened. His quick assessments usually made the difference when a group of bandits snuck up on him in the evening.
The dragon stated as he stuck his head back into the room. Damiano was out of his bed, dressing himself in his robes. The young mage nodded upon hearing this. He also had a bad feeling about this. Already various scenarios played through his mind. Assassination attempt, drunken stupors, robbery, anger issues, vandalism; it all ran through his mind and, regardless of what it was, none of it made any sense. What a reason to lose sleep over.
Damiano, now dressed, turned back to Ark and said, With that, Damiano opened his dormitory door and carefully began his little investigation of the corridors.
Vix quickly revealed himself and looked up into the sky to see Stratus heading their way. He said quickly to Kin.
Kin's eyes shot open quickly and he jumped to his feet. "Feels like my internal wounds are better now." Kin said quietly. Walking over to the gate opening, Kin looked from behind he wall to see Stratus coming their way with Sai. "Looks like it's time go to." Kin announced to Vix.
Aiva and Umbra had stayed on the roof on the building in complete silence the whole festival, not bothering to take part in it. Once citizens began to return to their homes, Aiva stood up and clapped her hands. Umbra immediately turned into a disk big enough to hold one person. Aiva got on, dangling her legs over the edge, and Umbra levitated upwards, and then towards the castle. When they got to the castle they didn’t bother to ask anyone where their quarters were. She and Umbra wandered the halls of the castle until they came to rooms. They were in the boy’s wing, but they didn’t know it. She happened to open the door of an empty room, and went in with Umbra in suit. She began to strip to her corset and bloomers, throwing her other clothing on the ground. Umbra diverted his gaze, and began to pick up the articles of the clothes that Aiva had thrown down. After Aiva was done she sat down n the bed, enjoying its comfortableness. “Where will you sleep?” She asked her bond, who was organizing her clothing into neat piles. “Remember, I do not have the need to eat sleep, eat, or drink. I do not even posses a soul; I am simply an emotional imprint left by a demon.” Umbra said, going over to a chair and sitting down. Aiva just nodded and laid down on the bed. It was then she heard a crash. “Come on.” She said to Umbra, jumping up and heading for the door. She was curious to see what had happened, hoping no one had gotten hurt. Umbra, who was slightly distressed that Aiva was going out in her undergarments, changed into a coat and put himself on Aiva. She left the room and began to walk around the corridors. She frowned when she spotted Damiano; she didn’t want to speak to him. She decided just to find out if he knew anything, and try to avoid the topic of shades. “Did you hear the crash as well?” She asked, her curiosity evident in her voice.
Aiva's presence in the men's dormitory wing was, at first, shocking. The question the posed was relieving. He wasn't the only one to hear it! At least he had someone to work with now. Upon a moment's reflection, Damiano began to think otherwise. Clearing his throat, Damiano answered Aiva, "I have heard it, yes. It woke me from a rather comfortable sleep. I take it you are here to investigate as well?" Damiano paused a moment to ponder; Aiva had shown up rather quickly. He chuckled and spoke up again, "Judging by the timing of your arrival, I'd say you accidentally settled yourself in the men's dormitory wing for the night."
Damiano chuckled to himself again. An honest mistake if someone had arrived after all the explanations (which, clearly, Aiva did). Still, he couldn't help but allow a chuckle of two. He did so enjoy humour, no matter how small it was. "Can I count on your company now? Or will we part ways and allow our antipathy for one another to fester even more? I could use the help," Damiano stated the last few words flatly. He didn't want to admit it, but he was being realistic. Besides, two mages were better off than one.
