"He's still definitely a teenager, but he's doing much better," Dari said with a nod. "Toby's teaching him to cook and things. We try to keep him as entertained as possible.

"If you want him to have a tutor, I'll help," Cody offered. He smiled at Dari. "I'd like to meet him. I don't think I've ever met a kelpie."
They drove and parked at the mountain, Cody happily hopping out of the car and getting their picnic basket.

"I think you'd be surprised how many entities you've met, with HQ so close to home," Dari said with a sly smile, and then gladly followed Cody out of the car and offered to carry the picnic basket with his gestures.

Cody shook his head at Dari and carried the basket, grinning. "Your surprise is in here," he explained. He offered Dari the blanket.

Dari just smiled and accepted the blanket. They began up their trail and Dari offered his hand. Engaged. It still hadn't totally hit him. He was engaged! Cody had been his first try, and he'd done it right!

"It's so much more beautiful with you here," Cody smiled at Dari. "Everything seems to be brighter when I'm with you." He kissed Dari's cheek.

Dari turned and kissed Cody's cheek in return.
"I think you may be biased, Love," he teased, and then gave Cody's hand a squeeze. "But I know the feeling."

"I'm allowed to be biased," Cody grinned. "I love you." He led Dari up the path, pausing whenever he saw a bird. He flinched when a large butterfly landed on his arm, then laughed.

"I love you too," Dari said. Every bird was met with the same interest, even if it was usually the same type, and Dari saw the butterfly before it landed and laughed when Cody startled. He stopped then and got down close to inspect it.
"It's tasting you." With its feet!

"Sorry little butterfly, I'm Dari's." Cody grinned, and looked to Dari. He held his arm close to Dari's to encourage the butterfly to climb onto his. "Maybe it wants you to share your surprise."

"Do I taste human?" Dari seemed to ask the butterfly, then looked to Cody. Nope, he was asking Cody. His gaze returned to the butterfly then as it crawled up his arm. "I've already gotten a big surprise today."

"What do humans taste like?" Cody asked. "You taste like my boyfriend." He smiled, then looked to the butterfly. "It likes you."

"We'll have to figure out what I taste like in my natural form," Dari decided. He smiled at the butterfly and then wandered over to a patch of wildflowers where he urged it to step off. With a tiny hesitation it did, and he reached out for Cody's hand again.

"Alright," Cody agreed. He took Dari's hand then, and continued to lead him up the trail. "Remember when I first brought you up here?" he asked.

Dari just turned his head and gave Cody an amused Look. Of course he remembered. He couldn't not remember. Was that perhaps just a lead-in for something else?
