"Let's put them on," he said. "Let's take a picture." Toby would want to know for certain. A boyfriend buying an expensive engagement ring didn't usually mean he was about to sell you out to authorities who had no idea the FBPI existed.

Cody took the ring intended for Dari and slipped it onto the alien's finger. "A picture?" he asked. "Can we avoid telling mommode and dadmode until we see them in person?" He asked. One or both would undoubtedly try to track them down. He hadn't asked for their blessing, even!

Now Dari had two rings, both for his love. He smiled and held it up.
"Aw, why?" He then returned for the box and slipped Cody's ring on the man's finger, grinning.

"I didn't ask for their blessing! Besides. They might come find us." He kissed Dari's cheek, and took out his phone. "Ready for pictures?"

"They won't. Toby would want to know before we went off-grid. It'll make him feel better," Dari said, still grinning. He leaned in and posed with Cody,lifting his ring to show the lens. "Ready!"

"Alright, but if they come track us down, I'm blaming you." Cody shook his head and posed, kissing Dari's cheek at the last second. His phone took the picture; it'd still been set on timer from the last time they'd done selfies. "Do you know Lori's number?"

Dari laughed and nodded.
"Yeah." He waited until Cody needed it and rambled it off, and then gave Maia's as well."They won't come out, but they might call."

Cody texted the picture to Lori, then to Maia's phone. "If they call, put it on speaker and we can both talk," he said, smiling.

As predicted, Dari's phone rang moments later. Dari laughed and answered the call, then put it on speaker.
"Hey!" Dari said.
"Hey! Lookit you! Are you engaged now?"
"I am!"
"Never thought we'd be engaged at the same time, eh?"
"Definitely not," Dari said with a chuckle.
Cody received a text then from Lori: Congrats!

"Hi Toby!" Cody chimed in. He texted a thank you to Lori and smiled. He showed Dari the text.

Dari saw the text and gave Cody a smile and a nod.
"Hey, Cody! You sneaky little s**t. Good on you!" Toby said. Dari laughed.
"See? No skinning. No wearing as a coat. Where's Maia? Did you show her?"
"Of course I did!"

"Thank you!" Dari chimed. He wasn't totally surprised, but it was still wonderful.
"Alright, we're gonna let you two go. Are you headed up the mountain again?"

"Have fun! Stop by later!" Maia seemed to have forgiven Dari for his joke this morning.
Cody was relieved. They'd reacted positively after all. "We'll see you later." He smiled at Dari happily.
