Althalos' apologetic expression remained. "Unfortunately for you, the only ones who use magic are evil. You might never be able to return," he said. No sooner had he finished did a guard peek into the study, announcing that they had caught the dreaded warlock. Apparently, the hunting party had encountered him while Althalos had brought Lynora to the castle. "Really? How odd. He usually isn't this careless." There was no need to complain, though.

Lynora gave a soft sigh at the answer she received. Maybe there was another way, but she wasn't about to give up hope so soon. She wasn't even sure if all of the magic users were evil, especially if the twins the Prince was looking for were the same twins who helped her with that bear, although she wasn't sure if those twins were magic. No, she wasn't about to give up hope, she would find her own way out of this world. The Crazy Tomboy ((Sorry for not posting as much these past few days, I've been playing my new video games in the evenings.))

Althalos would have gone with the guard to discuss what to do with the warlock, but he could not leave Lynora alone right now. Or maybe she wanted to be alone. He was not sure. Once the guard left, the prince put away the maps. "In any case, regardless of the circumstances, I'll see what I can do to help you get home. It will take time, though, so be patient," he said. "Would you like to return to your room?"

Lynora shook her head and stood back up once again. "No. If you don't mind I'd like to wander around. I don't think I want to go outside again, it's kind of scary out there." she said softly, smoothing out the wrinkles on her dress a little. "If I'm going to stay here longer than just today I suppose I should get to know my surroundings." I will get home eventually, I guess I just won't be going home today.

Althalos made no move to oppose her decision. "I'll have Sreda accompany you. Do not be afraid to tell her if you need anything," he said as he left the study. As he expected, the servant girl was already outside the door, waiting for Lynora. She seemed more nervous than usual, but he decided it must have been due to some petty matter the women in the castle always complained about.

Lynora looked over at Sreda and gave her a small smile, something wasn't quite right with her. "Are you okay?" she asked curiously, hoping she hadn't scared the woman too much when she broke down crying. "Come on, why don't you show me around?" she said softly.

Sreda nodded and, with her paper and quill in hand, led Lynora down the hallway. She then pointed out one of the windows, which had the best view in the kingdom. "Let us start off at this window. Here, you can see the neighboring town and the majestic mountains," she wrote. "I recall you haven't eaten since you woke up. Why don't we go to the kitchen next? I can show you more on the way."

Lynora read the paper and smiled a little as she looked out the window. Food did sound good, a pizza sounded great right about now. Though she wasn't so sure she could get pizza here, they probably didn't even know what pizza was! "Why do you keep writing? Can't you talk?" she asked softly, hoping she wasn't overstepping her bounds.

Sreda only smiled sadly. "I can, but I prefer not to," she wrote, and then pointed to her ear before she moved her quill again. "I can't hear anything, so no one expects me to talk. A good friend taught me, though." She frowned a bit, but could not erase her words. She hoped Lynora would not ask just who she had been talking about.

Lynora smiled a little sadly as well, it was sad that someone could be born deaf, in this time or in hers. "I wish you would speak around me. I won't tell anyone. It must be frustrating having to write every little thing you want to say." she said softly, sitting on the window sill a little and continuing to smile positively.so Sreda wouldn't feel so self conscious.

Sreda was a bit wary, but she figured she could trust Lynora. After all, the other girl seemed nice enough. "I get used to it after some time," she said for the first time in a while. "It does get irritating when someone walks away while I'm writing."

Lynora smiled even wider when she heard the young girl's voice. "Your voice doesn't sound so bad." she said softly, giving the girl a reassuring hug to help her feel better. "Come on, show me the kitchen. I am a little hungry so food doesn't sound so bad." she said happily, ready to follow the girl wherever she went.

Sreda simply nodded and led Lynora to the kitchen. Because other servants were there, she had to write again. "We are having mutton today," she wrote and prepared a plate. "I don't know what diet you ate, but I hope this is to your liking. It's garnished with exotic herbs from eastern lands." She handed the plate with utensils to Lynora and pointed her to a nearby table.

There wasn't much time for her to react to the choice in her meal before a plate full of food was shoved into her hands. She followed Sreda to a table and stared at her plate for a minute, an assortment of meat and potatoes filled her plate and she wasn't sure what she was eating. "What is mutton exactly?" Lynora asked hesitantly.

Sreda felt rather embarrassed that she had assumed Lynora knew what mutton was. "It's sheep meat. Courtesy of the butcher and the local shepherds," she explained before she began to fill another plate, soon setting it aside so she can write more. "I'll be right back. I need to take this to someone." With that, she covered the plate with a cloth and left the kitchen with it.
