Amity followed William, staying just behind him, but close. Her eyes were focused on Lilian and Brutus, they made a rather spectacular sight. Almost as impressive as Leo himself. Amity was fearful of the magic because she'd never seen a spell before, and the dome above dripping with blackness that soon surrounded them was a bit frightening. The stars were nice but still, it was weird and different and caught the humans off guard. It also made Amity slightly jealous. She wished she could do something like that. No wonder Larissa wanted to learn.
Larissa nodded "I think you look great" she said, giving her a thumbs up. "You'll do fine" she believed in her. And even if it took some getting used to, she felt like Lilian would have somewhere she belonged. Not like before, where she didn't fit in with other demons, but didn't fit in with humans or other races. Now she fit in with Leo and whatever he ruled over. Larissa liked the lion ears, tail and other things Lilian had gained. Her wings were pretty too. All starry, showing some of the blues of night sky and pale white. She wondered if her baby's wiings would look like that. He probably wouldn't come out with feline features though.
Misty didn't understand what Lilian meant by needing the mind for becoming an angel. But there wasn't any time to ask questions. Things were happening quickly. Larissa saw Leo strolling by the lake shore and frowned slightly. What was he doing? He didn't seem concerned about anything but he was being kind of rude to act so casual when people were in danger. Did he really not care what happens to other living people?
"What is that? What are imps?" Misty asked the group, her eyes darting from one person to the next, looking for answers. Larissa started trying to explain "Well, they're very tiny, um, demons. But don't let that scare you! They're one of the weakest types. Easily defeated. They are usually just - ah!" she stopped talking as the ground shook. Misty hugged Eilene this time, clutching onto her arm "I don't like that!" she said worriedly. "You said imps are tiny. So what is that?!" she looked at Larissa with scared purple orbs.
Larissa weakly laughed at Midnight's words and said "Knock knock" as she pretended to knock the air with a fist. It didn't help but it lightened the mood very slightly. Of a few people. The group heard the splashing of the lake and all eyes turned to see the large demon appear. Misty was frozen in fear. Amity looked a bit spooked as well by now and grabbed William's hand and squeezed it slightly. She gulped. "That's not a tiny imp"
Larissa watched him and Leo exchange glares, and huffed a little since she knew Leo wasn't going to help them. That guy. How rude. But it's not like she could chastise a god. If he was anyone else she would have prodded them to help out. But you couldn't force someone to help even if they were strong enough to.
Misty was shaking and trying to hide behind Eilene as the demon's gaze raked over the party.
Amity was fearful but trying to put on a brave face. She faltered when Lilian began spouting curse words. If an angelic catperson with divine power and a powerful familiar was scared, or worried, then this was bad. She took a step back from the holy flames engulfing Brutus' fur.
Amity felt William's hand slip out of hers as he ran over to Midnight. She hesitated, not wanting to get in the way, then ran after him. She'd better stay close to someone with a weapon.
Larissa watched Midnight bless Jacob and William's weapons, then Charlotte and Mia's. "I have to go get Morpheus' Messenger! It's in the dressing tent, where I got changed into the wedding dress" she said. "Misty, come with me. Eilene?"
"Yeah I'll come with you. Safety in numbers" she said. She had just cast a protective spell and some blessings on her familiar and herself. She glowed with a blue aura. "I can try making a wish come true!" she panted as she ran alongside Larissa and Misty towards the changing tent.
Larissa darted inside and grabbed the divine sword and shield. She let the butterfly shield hold her arm and took the sword into her hand. "I don't know, didn't you say those can backfire? We can't risk something going wrong or making things worse at a time like this!"
She screamed a little when the ground shook and the demon pounded the barrier. "He's attacking Midnight's barrier!" she gasped. Misty and Eilene had also screeched a bit.
The women watched the barrier be attacked and then crack open. Misty and Eilene clutched onto each other and helped each other when they stumbled, while Larissa steadied herself against a chair nearby. "Uh oh, here they come. Look out Misty, imps! Here, get in the dressing tent! Me and Eilene will be outside"
She shoved Misty into the tent and then got into a fighting stance. As imps flew towards them she noted the different types and colours. Fire imps, ice imps, psionic imps, all different kinds. She swung her sword at them but they danced and darted out of the way, taunting her. Eilene cast a lightning spell that fried several in a chain reaction, causing them to poof into ashes.
Larissa cast a spell from her sword, "Divine crystal bullets!" Small sharp crystal bullets and shards began peppering the imps, taking out a handful or so. She cried out as something came behind her and pulled her long hair, ripping a handful of baby's breath flowers out along with a few orange strands "Hey ow! That hurt you jerk!" Larissa swiped the imps head off with her sword and it poofed into ash.
Eilene cried out "Ahh!" Her hand was frozen from a beam of ice magic shot by a cackling blue imp. Seraph melted it and then sent an attack towards the imp that looked like a giant ghost paw with long claws, it shredded them imp into pieces which poofed into ashes. Larissa coughed and spluttered, accidentally inhaling some "Ugh, that's gross!" She gagged a few times before she could get her focus back and keep fighting. "Shoot!" She heard Misty scream and saw that several imps had set the dress tent on fire.
Eilene gasped "Larissa, Midnight's out! She's fighting the big guy!"
"We have to help her!" Larissa cried. Getting Misty under their protection, they fought their way through clouds of imps, taking out a fair few, and made it towards the opened crack in the shield.
*****
Papaya was hitting imps left and right with a large knife she found on the dessert table. While Mike was stabbing them in the eyes with a fork while standing atop the tables. Both humans stayed close to the magic people, Midnight's parents.

Out of the barrier I shot, folding my wings and shooting through the crack at high speed-- before flaring them again and rising up over the demon's head. He swiped his hand at me and missed, as Gossamer kawwed and flew right up to the demon's face, starting to peck at his eyes. The demon winced away and batted at the crow, but Gossamer was quick to dodge. Sapphire grew to an incredible size herself, before starting to use her force wing ability to knock his head around.
I, meanwhile, need to build up speed. Within seconds I was out over the lake, and I banked wide before shooting back overhead; lancing his back with stellar fire. I left a rolling boiling burn on his back where my attack touched.
He roared thunderously loud. "I AM HERE FOR THE DRAGON." He bellowed. "DO NOT WASTE MY TIME, PLEBEIANS." At least until a terrific mass of vines came sprouting out of the ground at his feet, thorny and nasty and glowing gold and silver. They had thorns as long as a man's arm, digging into his legs as the vines entwined around his legs up to his waist.
As I banked, preparing for a pass I saw this; I gave a toothy grin. good ol' Jacob, he knows how to keep an enemy in one place. And he was using the blessing on his bow to great effect.
Another golden lance of flame came from the barrier. and it was Liliana and Brutus as they charged through. He was taking damage from all sides, yet he didn't really seem to be bothered, I noticed as I made another pass, letting loose another jet of stellar flame. He batted Gossamer and Sapphire away, (which they dodged) and he swiped at me again and missed. His attention was still on me, even though Gossamer was actively pecking at his left eye.
---------
William was swift to noticed that he had been paired with Amity, both by the fact that the woman was following him around, an by Larissa actively telling the woman to stay near him.
As the imps poured into the barrier, he reached over to wrap his arm around her waist. He casted a spell that cause the two of them to float about three feet into the air, and their clothes moved as if they were in water. The air was still perfectly breathable, but he couldn't help but sneak an appreciative glance at how she looked in that swirling silver gown.
Imps immediately rushed the two, but them (and their attacks) bounced off an invisible barrier, like they were suspended in a ball. They even started rolling, as the imps made unimpressive 'boink'ing noises with each hit.
William turned away, making sure his back was squarely facing her. "Stay behind me." He said, lifting his rapier. "I do not want to hit you."
With a swipe of his blade, lighting crackled down the blade and the ball like barrier they were surrounded by emitted a lightning crackle. That lighting burst into a sheet of lighting around them that fried every imp around them and reduced them to ash.
--------
Charlotte was leaping, almost dancing through the fray, a combination of salsa dance and ballet in her moves. After a moment she pause and seemed to pull, and behind her silver lights flashed in gossamer lines as a group of imps just seemed to fall to pieces before turning to ash.
Mia was punching things. The punk girl looked somewhat frustrated as everyone else was showing off their magic (Charlotte with Razor floss, Wiliam with his air/storm magic, Larissa was glimmering crystals. Mia didn't want to advertise what she speca--
Her train of thought broke when she heard a cry from Charlotte; an imp had snuck up behind the fashionesta in her rose colored dress, stabbing into the back of her leg with a black bladed dagger. Mia turned to see that black liquid was seeping out of the wound, and into the flesh around it.
The trees seemed to tremble as Mia's eyes went blank, while the punk girl's complexion went a ghastly white.
Out of the forest came swarms of undead amials. a few were in some form of decomposition, most fully skeletal. There were herds of undead elk, some deer, swarms of undead birds. The undead animals fell upon the imps, entering the frey with no regard for their own safety.
Mia's face was twisted in pain as she waved her hands like a conductor. Though this only lasted a moment as more and more undead entered the fray.
Soon enough through, she went to Charlotte and reached down to pull the fashinesta to her feet. "Mia." Charlotte said. "It hurts." She whimpered. "I... I can't move my leg."
With a scowl Mia headed for Leo, the Lion god. He stood in the center of the chaos, unperturbed and unbothered by the imps around him-- who didn't dare try to hurt or engage him. As she approached she noticed the lion god was sitting on a stump, drinking a glass of Dragonsbane wine.
"You." She said, furious. "Why are you not helping?"
"I am." He said, taking a swig from the glass. "You just don't see it."
"Bullshit." Mia said. She didn't care that this ******** was a god. And to think she had been shivering in his presence earlier! Charlotte was hurting because he wasn't doing anything!
"Look around. Simply because no one is taking advantage of it doesn't mean that I do not have an impact on what is going on." Leo said, pouring more wine for himself.
At this, Mia did look around. The imps were giving him quite a wide berth. Quite a decent size, at least 3 yards of space. "You're the eye of the storm."
"Indeed I am." He said, taking another swig of the wine. "Even Gods have rules we must follow. After all, what growth would come from these struggles if I were to interfere?"
Mia turned back to Leo. "Fair enough. Can you heal Charlotte?" She asked, referring to the Fashionista who's face was buried in Mia's shoulder, whimpering in pain.
"That is not one of my domains, unfortunately. They however..." He pointed up to the sky. It took Mia a second to realise that he was pointing at the sun. "Can, if you had the faith."
Mia looked up at the sky; her fist clenched.
"I recommend making that prayer soon..." He said. "Before that poison and your pride destroys the Charlotte you love so much."
"F-Fine." Mia said, reaching around to hug Charlotte to her. "Sol! Bless Charlotte with your heat, light and your life! Purge this poison from her!" She threw as much feeling and passion into the prayer as she could...
The endless blue sky went gold, as the sun moved to it's zenith. The color washed over everything, as things got quite hot-- but not unbearably so. A brilliant sunbeam shot down on the two, and Mia could feel Charlotte's shaking lessen.
Leo gave an impressed rumble. "You have faith under that rough exterior."
Charlotte did look better, almost bright eyed. "Mia, are you alright?" She asked her friend.
"I'm tired." Mia said, dark circles under her blank eyes.
"Stay here, Mia." Leo said. "Work your bone army from afar. Charlotte, go forth. Anyone injured or hurt, bring to me to rest."
Charlotte looked to Mia with a frown. "You okay with this?"
"I got your back." Mia said, somehow looking determined despite her blank eyes. "They won't get you again."
Charlotte nodded and ran out into the fray, leaving sliced up Imps in her wake.
-----------
When the imps invaded the pavilion, Perla and Quirrel were quick to act. Perla summoned a barrier of crystal over the table that they had been sitting at, as well as a few other tables. The barrier swept past Mike and Papya. pushing the imps away.
Quirrel was pulling things out from under his vest; bottles and vials and he was mixing things and shaking that. He threw an empty vial at the barrier and it passed trough, bonking an imp on the head, though the imps could not get in.
He threw a bottle out of the barrier, and there was a decent sized explosion as several imps were encased in ice that spread like foam. After a moment the ice solidified and then shattered.
"I feared this would happen." Quirrel said. "I hope nothing big is going to--" The ground shook, and a loud roar. "Touche."
It was then that a swarm of undead woodpeckers flew past, and both Perla and Quirrel lookd on. "Huh, didn't know there was a necromancer attending the wedding." Perla said in a deadpan. She watched them decend on an imp and peck it to pieces. "A murder of crows would be proud."
-----------
Outside, I shot past the demon once more, lancing his shoulder as he was buffeted by holy fire from multiple sides. He whipped out his arm, and I was suprised to see his fingers wrap around me-- I just just enough time to unsheathed all of my spikes all at once.
I heard his arm crack and he nearly fell off balance as he caught me. It was hard to tell, but there was almost a grin on that toothy face. He caught me. I couldn't believe it. He caught me! And ********, ow, he can squeeze...! I would have been worried for my hatchlings if it hadn't been for the fact that I was concerned for my hide in general at this point."That hurt. That actually hurt." He said, almost with a laugh as he brought me to his face; never mind the black blood dripping from his hand as my spikes dug easily into the fleshy parts. "Ha ha ha ha ha!" I watched him laugh as he leaned back, opening that giant toothy maw.
Ohshit. He'sgoingtoeatmeohshitohshit--!! I squirmed violently in his grasp, whipping my tail around and cutting up his wrist. This forced him to grip me harder, and that resulted me in giving a high pitched squeak of pain.

Larissa's ears rang with the volume of the demon's shouting beyond the broken barrier. She couldn't see what Midnight was doing because she was distracted by fighting off imps the whole time, but she caught glimpses of stellar fire and the other divine magical attacks. She ignored the demon's roaring words. She couldn't just stay under the dome and do nothing while Midnight faced an enemy this powerful. She halted just behind the safety of the barrier and tried to think what spell to cast. Poff cast Claw Scratch Flurry which was aimed at the demon's wings. The whirlwind of razor sharp claws floated out of the barrier and started to slice the demon's wings and back, although he healed up so fast that they weren't very deep or effective, more like annoying tickling.
Her friends Eilene and Misty spread out beside her yet staying within the barrier for their safety. Eilene began casting spells with blue fire and smoke that smelled like incense and kept the imps away from the group. Misty stayed behind the half-genie, watching her cast attack spells that didn't seem to do too much at all to the demon.
*****
Amity was surprised at the sudden arm around her waist but she didn't fight it. She looked around in amazement as they floated in the air, her pale blonde hair waving along with her dress. "Thanks" she said quickly, as imps started bouncing off the barrier one second later. She laughed as the imps made bonking noises against the magic air shield. "These things seem kind of stupid" she realised. She stopped laughing when he turned his back to her and spoke. Amity did as told and stayed behind him, watching his actions. His rapier looked beautiful. Midnight had blessed it with divine power or something earlier. That was probably why. She gasped as lightning was cast and sheeted out around them, taking out a whole lot of imps. "Wow! That's effective! Oh, it didn't work on some of them" she pointed out some imps that seemed to have absorbed the spell, crackling with their own little bits of lightning powers. They were chattering angrily and gnashing their teeth at William, throwing single shot lightning bolts at the airborne shield.
Amity screamed when the undead creatures showed up but soon quieted herself down, slapping a hand over her mouth to muffle her terrified cries. She resisted the urge to latch onto William and it wasn't long before the sun gods changed the whole atmosphere and had her marveling in awe at the sunbeam and sunlight. "What in the world is happening? There's so much going on. I can't keep track" She watched the demon outside the barrier "You guys can defeat that thing right?!"
*****
Larissa summoned crystals of all different sizes and sharpness and used her divine star fall spell, star shaped crystals and slicing crystal shards raining down upon the demon. She heard Eilene call out. "Hey Larissa, stay out of the way of Charlotte. She's using a spell that looks like wires. If we get in the way, we could be sliced and diced!" she warned. Misty squeaked in fright.
Larissa shivered at that "Yikes! Okay!" she looked around and saw Charlotte's almost invisible wires cut up many imps while the woman seemed to dance around them. "We'll just stay right here and keep attacking. Midnight needs all the help she can get. I don't mind if others take out these annoying pests"
She turned back to the scene and cast another spell, sending liquid crystal snaking all over the demon, but he was so strong he kept breaking it and clawing it off. It wasn't very effective.
They heard someone cry out but amidst all the noise the imps were making the sound was drowned out. Then something shifted in the air and suddenly undead animals were swarming all over the place. Larissa screamed, along with Misty, trying their best to avoid them. They were a ghastly sight and made Larissa upset since she didn't like that they had died but she liked their appearance and smell even less. Larissa cast a crystal barrier around herself, Eilene and Misty, blocking the undead from crawling or flying in.
Larissa and Misty looked disgusted and scared of all the undead animals crawling, flying and moving about. "Ahhh! Ewww! Who's doing that? It's horrible! I almost prefer the imps to these dead things!" Larissa screeched.
Eilene wasn't too bothered by them "Hey they're on our side and they're helping us! Be grateful for the extra back up! There's so many imps the air is thick with them" She said, casting another magic attack spell in the demon's direction.
The women heard Mia yell out but they barely had time to wonder what she just yelled before the whole sky turned gold and the sun was suddenly overhead again. The temperature increased to a summery heat and then a brilliant sunbeam shot down. Larissa's eyes followed the beam to see it highlighting Mia and Charlotte, who were near Leo. The sunbeam faded, and Leo was saying something they couldn't quite make out. Then Charlotte leaped back into battle with her razor floss. Eilene looked at Mia's arms waving as she conducted the undead animals.
"There's your answer to the dead things, Larissa! Mia must study necromancy!" she called out, firing more spells towards the big demon outside. Her spells were nothing but distractions to him but at least that was something.
******
Larissa's parents, Mike and Papaya were grateful when Perla cast a shield around them. They stopped fighting and stood together, back to back, watching the clouds of small creatures causing havoc. Mike clapped as Quirrel's explosion killed the imps. "Whatever that was, it worked!" he said, confused at what he'd just seen. It looked like foam but then turned hard like ice. Weird. But cool. He was impressed.
Then Quirrel spoke just as the big demon showed up. Papaya bit back a scream. "What is that thing?!" she yelled in fear and horror. "It looks like a demon!"
"I think that's what it is!" Mike yelled back. "Demons and a god! This is crazy!"
Then the undead animals swarmed in. Mike and Papaya both screamed and shouted as they quickly hopped up on chairs and tables to avoid being near the undead animals that came from everywhere.
"You mean these dead animals are being controlled by a real necromancer?" Papaya asked Perla fearfully. "All these controlled just by one person... That's amazing!" her appreciation of the skill it would take and how many there were soon started to outweigh her fear and squeamishness. But her gaze quickly turned back to the battle outside the dome.
*****
Everyone watched Midnight and the demon fighting each other, and the divine attacks from their allies. Larissa shouted Midnight's name when she realised the dragon was caught. "Midnight!" She hoped that their poison spikes and spines would hurt the big guy but he wasn't letting go, much to her chagrin. She cast another divine spell as he opened his mouth to eat her. "NOO! You can't have her!" She summoned a giant hunk made of sparkling, sharp crystal clusters and slammed it into his mouth and teeth with as much force as possible, her sword glittering and flashing with holy light and stars."Chew on that instead! Midnight! Get free!"
Larissa panicked but tried to stay calm and think which spells to use. She cast her crystal disc spell and a large spinning disc with razor sharp edge zipped towards the demon's arm and started slicing into it at the wrist, persistently cutting through. She hoped this demon couldn't regenerate its limbs and also that it's bones weren't as strong as they seemed. But they were probably really strong.

William saw the cackling little imps who had absorbed his sheet lightning, and he rolled his eyes as he lifted the blade and then with a flick of his wrist the imps seemed to fall to pieces. He was using a ribbon of air to slice them from afar.
He glanced around, and had lifted his blade again when he saw the swarms of undead animals-- heralded by Amity's fearful shriek in his ear. He winced, studying a heard of deer that charged past them and lowered their antlers to gore a group of imps in their path.
"Amity." He said, ears ringing. "They're on our..." He broke off as the sun rose to it's Zenith, sending a beam of holy healing light down on two people in particular. "Huh. It's not often you see Necromancy paired with healing magic. One hell of a combo." It didn't take a seer to determine that it had been the punk girl doing all of this, and he was most certainly impressed. "She's on our side."
He glanced back at the big demon, and his look grew serious. "If anyone can beat him, it would be Midnight." He said. He glanced back at the rapier, feeling it humm with power in his hand. "If anyone can, it would be them."
Still, he couldn't just stand there and admire the magic going on around him. He normally would, but not with the lady behind him depending on him for her safety. His blade glowed as he drew what looked like an arcane word in the air; it glowed a very pale blue before seeming to dissolve into mist, swirling and expanding to engulf the entire wedding ground in said mist. The mist was see through for the humans and they can move fine in it, but it would most certainly hinder the imp's vision and it would slow them down; as if they were trying to move through mud.
But as the fight progressed, his charming smile faded. The battle against the imps was going well-- the clouds of mist were slowing the imps down enough to make them easy targets for even the non-magic people. What was worrying him was the way Midnight was being handled by the demon outside the barrier...
--------
"Foaming ice." Quirrel said. "It's quite useful, not a lot of demons are affiliated with the cold." He said as he threw another one, smacking some that weren't being assaulted by undead birds in the face. The vial broke, and more foam expanded, solidified, and shattered.
Both of them winced at the screaming of the bride's parents, though it was not to be unexpected from uneducated non-magical people. There was a lot of stigmas surrounding necromancers, though the magic they wove while not the most pleasant had it's uses in polite society. This aspect of it, typically not though.
Both of them were looking rather unperturbed until they got a clear view of the demon. They were watching, almost proudly as Midnight streaked back and forth, lashing it with steller fire... at least until the demon snatched the dragoness out of the air.
Both of them just stared in shock, not so much noticing the two other parents. Perla was shaking as she reached into her purse and pulled out what looked like a sapphire handgun.
"H-Honey?" She asked Quirrel. "G-got any holy mixtures?"
Quirrel was already hunched over the table, mixing as fast as he could. He held up several glowing tubes which she encased in crystal and slotted into the gun as ammo. She held up the gun to take aim... and then lowered it.
"We need to get closer." She said, finally. "I'll hit someone at this distance."
Quirrel nodded, glancing to Mike and Papya. "Follow us if you wish. Our Midnight is in danger, and we're not going to stand idly by."
Perla was already marching out of the Pavilion, and Quirrel turned to hurry after her as the mist billowed in. Both parents strode with purpose through the imps and the undead and the chaos.
--------
I was still squirming violently as crystal rain started to fall from the sky; they pelted the demon, and he grunted and brushed them off as the crystals tried to bury themselves in his skin. Though, the huge crystal cluster forcing itself in his mouth got his attention.
He turned his head and looked at Larissa, who I was worried had made herself a target for the big guy. He spat out the large sharp cluster, and it spun towards her and the group and narrowly missed Larissa's crystal barrier.
Then he laughed.
I squirmed more, before remembering the shifting spell I used to change forms. Maybe I could hide my wings with that? While he was distracted, I squirmed a little more, and sure enough my wings were no longer painfully pinned against my back. I now leaned down and bit him, as my tail continued to lash at his wrist, though it whipped out of the way when a spinning crystal saw made it's way and it narrowly missed one of my fins. I grimaced at the taste of his blood. Gods, this guy's flesh tastes foul.
It was then I noticed how ridged his skin was. ********, this guy has a lot of scars. That... does not bode well for me."What's wrong, princess?" He bellowed. "Too attached to the sparkly little dragon?" He reached over and pulled the crystal disk away from the wrist holding me; and with three fingers he snapped it in two as if it had been a toothpick. "Too bad. Should have stuck with a knight in shining armor... because you're not strong enough to stop me."
"AND NEITHER ARE YOU TWO!" He bellowed, backhanding both Gossamer and Sapphire, sending my two familiars tumbling into the waters below.
My gazed followed them fall, to see that they had fallen in what looked like glowing, bubbling water... Was that Liliana, turning the lake-water holy and then boiling it around his feet? And that still isn't phasing him!? I was trying to pump as much of my venom as I could into him, but he didn't seem bothered in the slightest... I might need to find more holy poisonous plants to eat. If I survive.
But... his attention was on Larissa. He was grinning at her. Oh stars...
He reached up and pinched me by the sides of my neck, pulling me from where I had been latched onto the fleshy part of his thumb. I took a good chunk out of him, but like with everything else he didn't seem to care. I spat out the demon flesh in my mouth as he basically pinned me against his other palm with his knuckles."Ever seen a dragon get crushed before? I'll make dragon breath here pop like a grape!" He said gleefully. He pulled back, and then he brought that fist back in.
The blow hit me like a truck. I have a pained screech as I could feel my bones themselves straining under the blow. He pulled back again, hitting me a second time, then a third, and he kept doing it until I had lost count of how many times I had been struck by the sheer force of his fists.
--------
Perla and Quirrel hurried to the edge of the barrier, as Perla lifted up the handgun again. It shifted, glimmering in the light as she steadied her hands and fired off round after crystal round; but the demon was too busy gleefully and viciously pounding the sparkily dragon into his fist to notice or care as flames flared against his arms, or ice froze against his chest. The bullets were leaving holes in his skin, but all he had to do was flex and move and they would fall right back out.
Click click click. "N-No..." Pearla found she was out of ammo, yet her fingers were still fruitlessly pulling the trigger. Tears were blurring her vision as Quirrel wrapped his arms around his wife and hugged her, pulling her gaze away from the brutal show. She started sobbing as Quirrel hugged her tightly. He was crying too, tears dripping down his face as he could not bear to look as the dragoness's screeching cries filled the air.
Then the demon stopped, holding the dragoness in both hands and starting to squeeze.... a fresh new screech of agony pierced the air. Quirrel just hugged his wife tighter as Perla broke out into a fresh bout of sobs.
--------
I don't know how long it went on, but eventually the brutal blows stopped. Then what felt like a world breaking force was being applied to my rib-cage, causing me to scream anew. When it finally stopped..."What is this? You're still alive?" I opened one eye, the world blurry. I realized I must have been crying. I felt myself being shaken roughly. "Wake up!" The world came back into focus, and I was laying prone in his now opened hand. I sucked down air, feeling the agony that kicked at my lungs with every breath; I spat up some blood. It was red, but seemed to glitter as if filled with gold flecks. It hit his skin and caused it to roil and burn."Well now. My summoner telling me that you are a worthy opponent might hold some water after all." He said with that huge toothy grin. "I'll tell you what. Hit me with your strongest attack... and if it impresses me, I'll let you live." I started to cough as I spat up more blood, my body shaking as I spasmed. "I'll even take the remaining imps with me back to hell." He said. "But if you fail...." He glanced back at Larissa and the rest of the wedding guests. "I'll eat you, and everyone else. ******** my summoner, he can't control me. Pathetic bleeding heart ******** style="font-size: 10px">I stopped spasming, and with a grunt and a groan, I hauled myself to my feet. I was glad I hid my wings away-- if I had them out during that beating I'd never fly again. I stumbled as a spike of pain ripped through me, but eventually I forced myself to sit back onto my hind legs as I looked this demon right in the eye.

Amity watched with appreciation of his skills as he took out the remaining imps with...air? Was he using the wind to cut them up? Pretty cool. She watched them puff into ashes that floated away on air currents.
"Sorry!" She winced at her own actions. She regretted shrieking in his ears, especially once he pointed out the undead hordes were helping the wedding guests, not attacking them. They still made for a horrifying sight and smell though and she was glad to be above them in the nice safe air bubble William had created. She looked over at Mia and Charlotte when the healing ray shone down from above, along with the gods' manifestations. "Wow. Yeah. That seems like a weird combination. Do gods not care if someone's into the dark arts or serves more than one of them? Anyway, I'm glad she's on our side" she said, relieved. She was also glad that Charlotte seemed to be okay now, though she didn't know what Mia just had to do to get a god to send healing rays."I hope she didn't just bargain her soul or something"
She bit her lip as her eyes turned to the hulking demon outside the protective dome over the wedding party. Her eyes were wide and scared, filled with a mixture of worry and hope. "I hope they can then. He seems really strong and just- terrifying! Midnight can't afford to lose! I'm on their side. I just wish I could help them somehow. What a horrible demon!"
She watched him draw something with the blessed blade he held and saw the runes appear, then dissipate into blue mist that spread around everywhere. Imps suddenly began flapping around blindly, banging into things and into each other. They reached their hands out in front of them, as if to feel their way through the fog. Not only that but they were moving a lot slower now, almost like they were fighting some kind of slowness or moving through thick sticky mud. "Nice work. It looks like you took care of the rest of the imps" she said gratefully. "They're starting to drop off and leave spaces to see through" Which was good because that meant a better view of the big battle outside. Amity watched it in fear and worry. "Oh no! Midnight's in danger. Are they losing? What can we do?!" she panicked, her hand flying to her mouth in shock as she cringed at the beating Midnight was getting. "Someone has to stop him! Oh gods. Someone help them. Leo...!" she cast about for the lion god and spotted him "Why isn't he helping?! He could get rid of the demon, couldn't he? is he going to let Midnight lose? They can't die. They can't today!" She started to tear up, horrified but unable to look away as the demon shouted horrible things and beat the dragon with his fist.
*****
Mike nodded at Quirrel's explanation. "Oh, right. Well it's very cool. And that makes sense. Demons and fire go hand in hand don't they?" he watched more of the foam ice in amazement, seeing the imps fall and crumble into ashes.
Then the undead showed up and the mortals lost their minds to fear and revulsion. Undead things were scary and quite a sight from most horror movies. It made them very squeamish. But their eyes were drawn back to the large demon beyond once they recovered from the shock of being surrounded by animal zombies.
Papaya gasped when he snatched the dragon from the air. "Oh!" she looked petrified and worried, "Mike! He got Midnight! No...oh no"
Mike reached out to squeeze her shoulder. "We can't do anything. We just have to pray that she wins this fight somehow" he said grimly. He looked around and saw Perla's sapphire gun. A gun made of sapphires, it was beautiful but puzzling. How did it stay together without shattering when bullets were fired? He didn't have time to figure that out, and fell back on subscribing it to 'magic' as a brief explanation. He watched Quirrel make up tubes of holy stuff which he handed to Perla, who encased them in crystal and loaded the gun.
Mike and Papaya nodded at Perla's words. "We'll come with you. We don't want to get in the way but we'll help any way we can!" Papaya said. They hurried after Quirrel and Perla through the curious blue mist, stopping to witness the spells and attacks against the demon from all sides. They spied crystals and crystal spells and their eyes drifted to their daughter on the edge of the dome. She was out of reach of the demon, under the protective shield but her spells could still pass through it. They looked proud of her even though the spells didn't seem strong enough to defeat the demon anyway. "Her magic is breathtaking" Papaya commented. "But it's not damaging him!"
"She's trying her best" Mike replied. "Gods, this is horrible. Why the ******** is this thing so strong?! This is a nightmare. Why do these things even exist?" He growled as he saw the demon grab Larissa's crystal disc and snap it in half, still spinning. She was using holy magic like the others. Why wasn't it having an effect on the demon?
***** Luckily, Snow Poff had cast her Cat Step spell, which meant Larissa was hastened and agile, enough to dodge out of the way of the returned hunk of sharp crystal as it grazed her barrier. Poff was encased in her own crystal barrier too. She was using Amplify to make Larissa's spells stronger but even that wasn't making much of a difference. Not to mention Larissa was using the divine sword and shield to channel her magic attacks. That should have been effective but even that wasn't enough.
Larissa tried to stand straight and look brave as the demon laughed. She was shaking and sweating, her knuckles white as she gripped the sparkling sword tight. The butterfly on her arm raised defensively to protect Poff on her shoulder, plus some of her own body. The imps were no longer a problem, being picked off and destroyed by the undead and the other magic users now that they were slowed and blinded.
Misty was crying from fear and worry. She seemed to relax slightly once the imps left them alone.
Larissa watched Midnight bite the demon and muttered desperately to herself. "Why isn't Midnight's venom affecting him?! Is he immune to poison? What's this thing's weakness?!" she exclaimed, frustrated and scared for Midnight's wellbeing. "Midnight can't lose this fight! They can't!" She kept casting divine spells, she had to do something. Something had to work against this evil b*****d.
She glared at him as he bellowed, flinching at the sound and volume of his voice. She was irked by his words and her anger flared up. Her eyes shone with green fire. "Something has to stop you!" she snarled, not caring if he heard it. She gasped as he smacked Midnight's familiars into the water. She hoped they were both okay enough to still be alive and escape.
Larissa shook harder as he turned his gaze to her and grinned evilly. She stared back with anger and defiance, despite how scared she was. "Let them go!" she yelled, meaning Midnight. "Leave them alone! No! Stop! Stop it!" she screamed as he began beating Midnight with one fist while he held them in the other. "Midnight!" she shouted desperately while Midnight screamed in pain. Larissa cast more holy magic upon him, but nothing seemed to break through his tough hide, and if it did, he recovered too fast for it to cause much damage. Tears overflowed from Larissa's eyes. "What can I do? What can I do?! I have to stop him!" she panicked, rage, fear and sadness taking hold of her. "He can't kill Midnight! He can't kill them!"
She saw spells flare and burst on the demon as he continued to punch Midnight. Perla's bullets flying to hit their mark, without doing much. Larissa scrubbed her arm over her eyes to dash away the tears and clear her vision. She kept spell casting. She wouldn't give up. There had to be some weakness, something that worked. He was squeezing the dragon, torturing them. Their screams of agony ripped at Larissa's heart. Then he stopped. Larissa growled as he shook Midnight and yelled at them to wake up. She saw the blood coughed up and her face crumpled in worry. "No. No!" Midnight was badly hurt. "Don't die!"
Her ears caught his words and she latched onto them. His summoner. So there WAS someone summoning this guy! He wasn't just acting on his own accord. She perked up when she heard his words to Midnight. He was giving them a chance. What an arrogant a*****e. But still, this could be his downfall. She growled when he said he'd eat everyone if Midnight lost. "Damn b*****d!"
Misty began singing quietly behind her, taking her by surprise. A purple glow surrounded Midnight's body, reams of music notes rolling around her. Misty was using a buffing spell, something she had learned from her parents when they talked about her mermaid heritage and gave her her grandmother's journal to read. It listed song spells of mermaids and sirens. Misty placed a strong endurance spell upon Midnight.
Eilene cast another spell, and another, she wasn't stopping her attacks either. Larissa took her cue and kept casting more divine magic on him. Even if they could break his concentration or distract him, it was better than doing nothing.
Larissa glanced at Eilene. "Eilene. I-I have a wish I want to use! For after the battle!" she uttered, an idea leaping to her mind. "I hope Midnight blasts him back to hell but if they don't, I'll need your help!"
"You want me to use my genie magic? All right. Choose your words carefully and be very specific. Even if you wish silently in your mind, I can hear it!" she said, determined to help any way she could.
Poff focused on keeping the buffs to her partner going, watching Midnight with sharp eyes.

William couldn't help but chuckle at Amity's reaction to the necromancer. "You would actually be surprised at how not dark necromancy is." He rubbed his hear. "I'd, ah, tell you more but this isn't the time or place." William blinked, his eyes suddenly turned pale a moment... before he blinked and his eyes widened. "Holy crap."
He turned to Amity. "Close your eyes and put your hands over your ears... This is going to be loud and bright."
William turned back to the lakeshore, where the demon had Midnight standing on his palm... and he clapped his hands over his ears and squeezed his eyes shut.
------
I found myself standing on the demon's palm. He wanted me... to hit him with my strongest attack? I could feel magic humming over me, giving me strength to endure the pain that seemed to lance at me from all sides.
I watched as he turned his head, raising an eyebrow at the people within the barrier-- trying to seek out the caster.
No. Not anyone else. I started to carge it. All of my plasma, laced with a heavy amount of holy power and-- ******** it, throw in some light power too. I had my mouth clamped shut as he turned away, looking down at Larissa and the group of people that had gathered at the edge of the barrier.
Too late, I wondered as I felt the pressure of the attack build up in my chest- if this was a good idea. Should I just let him kill me? Would it be safer? But if I hurt him sufficiently he won't hurt anyone else... right? He's a demon, how can I trust him?
He looked down to tug, annoyed, at the vines binding his legs to the lake of holy water around him... I saw Sapphire and Gossamer pulling themselves onto the lake shore, drenched. They didn't look hurt... thank the stars...
I glanced back at him as he started to pull his leg free of the vines, ignoring the black blood dripping down them, feeling the pressure build until I could no longer stand it. I watched as the blazing blue-violet ball of plasma, almost as big as my torso arced and then struck him right in the shoulder.
First... the world went white. Second, the bang had been so loud that I think I had been deafened.
I never remembered being blinded by one of my own spells before. If the demon had responded at all to it, I couldn't hear it. All was white.
No wait, a sensation. I'm falling---
I hit water. I must have either knocked myself off of his hand or he had dropped me with it. The water felt... cool on my scales, and I felt so very tired... at least until a pair of jaws grabbed me by the scruff of the neck, and I felt another body bigger then mine pulling me along.
When my vision returned (hadn't taken that long) I opened my eyes to see that it was Brutus. He had grown to an immense size, and was carrying me in his jaws like a cat would carry a kitten. I couldn't see Liliana anywhere. He pulled himself from the water and I just kinda dangled there, hurting, as he turned to look... Where had the demon gone? I squinted, having a hard time telling. Then I realized... he had somehow landed on the opposite riverbank?
I had blown his arm off! I could tell because he was holding the severed limb in his hand, almost as if he was surprised. After a moment I could feel my hearing slowly return, and I watched him sling the remains of his arm over his shoulder, nevermind that he was heavily bleeding, and he pointed right at me."Don't you dare die, dragon. Get stronger. We will fight again. MY IMPS! TO ME!" He bellowed, and the imps came pouring out the barrier, a much smaller cloud then before as they swarmed to whom I had to guess was their master. A burning green gate of hellfire formed infront of him as he stepped through, followed by the imps... and then he was gone.
I glanced back to the barrier, and I tried to wave at it; I more flopped an arm that didn't really move quite right in it's direction, and it dissolved into a shimmering galaxy spiral before vanishing.
Brutus padded up onto the lakeshore, and gently put me down on the grass. I couldn't even support my weight as I started to cough up blood again. There was the sound of wings as Liliana landed next to me, and Brutus immediately shrunk down to normal size. Liliana was looking at me, as if she didn't know what to do...
"Lar..." I tried to say, turnng my head as far as I could (which wasn't much). "Lari...ssa." Ow, oh stars, my lungs. "Larissa!" I called, though it was far too quiet for the effort I put in. Maybe I could.... see her one last time?

She looked confused for a second when he spoke "Not dark? But how-?" she stopped talking when he told her it wasn't the time or place for telling more. She was standing behind him so she didn't see his eyes change colour or widen but she pinged to alert when he cursed. "What? What is it?" she sounded worried. She looked at him in confusion but quickly did as he said, covering her ears, staring into his eyes with her blue ones before closing them and bowing her head, pressing her hands harder over her ears. She was scared, but she trusted William. Larissa said he would keep her safe and that seemed to be clear from what he'd done so far.
*****
Larissa paused her attacks when she saw Midnight preparing to strike. She didn't want her spells to get in the way of Midnight's attack. She suspected Midnight would use their plasma breath weapon and combine it with holy magic. She could hear Misty continue to sing softly behind her. Her voice flowed out, lovely and full of strong magic.
Larissa stared back at the demon as he looked over the group of people under the dome. She hoped her blatant gaze would draw his attention away from what Midnight was charging. She watched him try to free himself from Jacob's vines, making a mess of his legs in the process. Larissa cringed and turned pale. She was squeamish about blood and gore. She realised Midnight was about to release her attack and quickly dropped to the ground, grabbing Poff off her shoulder and pulling Misty down with her "Close your eyes!" she gasped out, covering Misty's ears with her own hands. She had no time to explain. A flash of burning light blazed through her eyelids and a deafening sound exploded into her head, turning everything to mute.
Once the light faded, Larissa opened her eyes and stumbled to her feet, picking up Poff and placing her back on her shoulder. The blast would have knocked her to the ground if she hadn't laid down first. Everyone else who was standing was knocked over, including her parents, Amity inside the air shield and Eilene with Seraph behind her. Eilene scooped her cat protectively to her and held him close.
Larissa spotted something hit the water and she saw a huge Brutus wade in and grab it. Midnight. Were they alive? Her heart beat crazily in her chest, almost painful. Please let Midnight live, please let them live. She watched Brutus carry the limp dragon to the land, and followed Midnight's gaze to the opposite bank of the lake. The demon was still alive! "No! Why?!" Larissa cried out, shocked and horrified as well as confused. How was he still alive after that? Why didn't Midnight's blast kill him? He was splurting blood everywhere and she had to look away and take calming breaths in order to stop herself losing her lunch or passing out. Her head swum and her stomach did flips but she forced herself to take several deep, slow breaths and it subsided. She glanced back at the imps flying across the lake and glimpsed the backside of the demon disappearing into the hellfire portal. She sighed in relief once he was gone.
Her gaze flicked straight to Midnight, catching the wave of their arm as the barrier unwound and vanished. She watched them be put on the grass, still sprinkled with flower petals and confetti from the wedding. She sheathed her sword and ran to them, falling to her knees and cupping Midnight's face in her hands. "Eilene!" Larissa yelled, not sure how loud she was since she was still pretty deaf and her own voice sounded muffled to her. "I need that wish!" she called out. Midnight's blood was on her hands. Warm and slick.
Eilene put Seraph on her shoulder and stumbled over to the small group on the grass, shaking a lot. She sank to her knees beside Midnight. "Wish away. I'll do what I can" she promised sincerely. "Think carefully"
Dr Mark came running over, as well as Larissa's parents and Misty. They stayed back, wanting to help. Dr Mark cursed "I don't have my med kit! And it's going to take some time for an ambulance to get here. I heard several bones break during the battle and there's bound to be internal bleeding" he said grimly.
Larissa didn't waste any time "I wish for Midnight to be fully healed and restored, to how they were before the battle started" she said carefully and evenly, though a little loud. Her ears were ringing and buzzing.
A bright light surrounded the genie girl and her eyes glowed brilliantly. The same bright blue light surrounded Midnight and sank itself deep into their body. Midnight's bones were re-set and mended, tissue repaired itself, cuts vanished, bleeding stopped. Midnight's hearing returned and their body was completely healed as if it was new. Midnight was in perfect condition now.
Eilene's eyes rolled back in her head as she slumped in a faint. Misty and Dr Mark caught her, gently laying her down. Seraph curled up on her chest and purred at a healing frequency.
Larissa's eyes filled with tears that overflowed and streaked down her face. "Midnight...did it work? Are you okay?" She leaned down and kissed the dragon's nose. "Please, I hope it worked, please...I love you so much!"

The blast sent the air ball rolling and bouncing away, into the trees; William reached out and wrapped his arm around Amity, holding her to him as they spun in the ball, it boinking from tree to tree. He opened his eyes, the world bright but not blinding, and he brought the bouncing ball to a stop-- before rolling it back in the direction of the wedding before it got too far. His head rung as things were far too quiet... he hoped his hearing would return soon. And he was still worrying about Midnight.
--------
Meanwhile, Liliana was swift to run to me; I blinked at her slowly, as she held my face in her arms. The world almost seemed to be moving in slow motion for me, as I heard her call to someone but I didn't quite register was it was.
Stars, I wanted to say so many things. She had been crying, and despite the streaks in her makeup she still looks so beautiful. I was proud that she had tossed such spells at the demon, they were powerful-- never-mind that they did little.
And I was sorry. Sorry I couldn't stick around to protect our kids. Sorry, so sorry that today, of all days, I was going to... But I couldn't say anything, not with how terribly I hurt all over.
I nuzzled her with the little strength I could, hearing the muffled words of Dr Mark and something Eleine was saying. I didn't register much, just deciding to bury my face into her lap.
Larissa said something, and I could feel the pain start to ebb away... here it comes. But I didn't really.... feel any different. I leaned back, lifting my head-- I can still move? I looked around, taking a breath... no pain. And my hearing was back. She kissed my nose as I was just... looking about, confused.
It was hen I noticed Eleine, who looked like she had just fainted. Oh. I looked to Larissa.
"I love you too." I said to Larissa, taking another experimental breath. I felt fine. "I feel okay."
"MIDNIGHT!!" I heard another voice shout, and I whipped my head around to see Perla and Quirrel stumbling over. I backed away from Larissa before Perla, her face also streaked with tears, nearly threw herself at me and reared up on my hind legs to catch my mom's flying hug.
Dad stood a few feet away, and I held out a clawed arm-- he took it too, hugging both mother me as it turned into a group hug. We held the hug for a moment, before Perla and Quirrel finally pulled away.
"I thought... I thought you were going to..." Perla whimpered. She had trailed off, but I knew the word she was going to say. Die. I thought you were going to die.
"I... I thought so too." I said.
I heard a murmur and looked up; a great deal of the guests had gathered to look. I could see William with Amity emerge from the trees in the distance, in William's favored wind barrier spell. But they were looking at... ah.
Leo had joined the group, and he was smiling at Liliana; while the freshly turned angel looked uncomfortable in his presence.
"You." Perla turned to him, wiping away the tears from her cheeks. "Why did you not help?" She asked the god.
It was a question on a lot of people's minds, it looked like. The expressions were varied, but they all were looking at Leo. He frowned, crossing his arms.
I hadn't expected Leo's help, I realized. Did I really need it? Possibly not. I was still alive and okay, with or without his presence.
"Even the gods have rules they must follow." I said, piping up. People looked from him to me, as I had coiled my tail next to me. "We all know that sometimes just because we have power, doesn't mean we can always use it when we want too, yes?"
Perla couldn't help but give a hesitant nod.
"He sent an agent.. which was all Leo could do. Otherwise he might... I dunno, break something. Or keep us all from growing and learning from the conflict, maybe? I don't know much about cosmic balance and all, but that probably has something to do with it." I wondered if he could provide the answer himself and chose not too, or if he was unable. Either way, I suppose it was good for me to realize these things on my own.
He clapped his hands together, before he gestured at Liliana when I mentioned an agent. "She did very well. You did very well. Everyone did." He said.
"Me?" I said with a half laugh. "I got my a** kicked. Hard."
Leo just gave a knowing smile. "You endured. Such is a surprisingly hard feat to accomplish." He said. "Lesser dragons would have died from the first blow, much less withstood all of them. That demon is not one to be trifled with. Still, no lasting damage was had..."
"All is well, and all manner of things shall be well." I said.
Dr Mark came over to me and knelt next to me; I turned my head as he was looking me over. "I'd like a quick checkup before you move onto your honeymoon."
I nodded. I know why he was suggesting such a thing.

Amity gasped when the shock-wave of the blast sent the wind ball flying, causing her to tumble around inside, her hands clamped over her ears. She tried to keep her eyes closed but they flicked open when she felt a supportive arm go around her. She got a close up view of the trees and was grateful for the protection of the air bubble they were in. She started to laugh a bit breathlessly as they bounced off different trees. It was kind of fun and silly. It was also scary.
William soon had the ball back under control though and she was relieved when it stopped. She floated inside with him as he directed them back over to the cluster of people on the grass. She was worried for Midnight's condition and hoped they would make it but she knew chances were slim. She watched the events unfold and gasped when Eilene fainted, with her cat trying to rouse her. She then noticed that Midnight seemed completely healed. There were no more cuts or bruises, no more blood. Amity wiped some relieved, happy tears from her eyes. She was partly crying from the shock and trauma of the horrible encounter as well. That demon was so awful.
She turned to William with a look of gratitude "Thank You" she mouthed the words and hugged his arm. She let go and pointed to Misty and Larissa. "Down?" she mouthed, guessing he was deafened by the blast because her ears were ringing and humming too. She had enjoyed hugging him for that brief moment and staying with him through the battle but she really wanted to see her friends and make sure they were all okay.
*****
Papaya and Mike, along with Misty, looked happy that the genie girl's magic had worked. Eilene's wish magic was powerful and rare (and bound by rules and codes), but it could easily backfire. It was lucky that it had worked out for the best.
Misty ran to get some things from the pavilion and returned with a cloth napkin and some cool water, wetting it and placing it on Eilene's forehead. She fanned her with a folded paper wedding invite, hoping to bring her round. It had taken a lot of the woman's magical life essence to grant the wish and she would likely be out cold for several days while her magic replenished. "I wish I knew some of the other spell songs. I want to help you" she said to the unconscious blue haired woman. "You saved Midnight, when no one else could"
Eilene stirred slightly. Her eyes fluttered open but they looked dazed and cloudy. She weakly struggled to lift her hand and stroke Seraph's head, glad he was alive. She could feel his purrs healing her. Then she looked at Misty, "Thank you" her voice was the faintest whisper before she passed out again, her head tilting to the left. Seraph looked at Misty and smiled, his eyes squeezing in a cat like manner "Don't worry; she just needs rest. She'll recover in a week or so"
*****
Mike looked at Larissa and Midnight as they nuzzled each other and talked. "I'm glad you both made it out of that nightmare alive, both of you. I may not be used to the idea but I've warmed up to you being my girl's spouse" he said. "I'm real happy this wedding didn't turn into a tragedy" he said gruffly, a bit embarrassed as he folded his arms and looked to one side, coughing awkwardly.
Papaya smiled and walked over to hug Midnight and Larissa as well "Thank gods it's over. I'm so happy the side of good won today's battle. For everyone to go through such horrors and yet no one to die, the gods must be smiling down on us indeed" she said, softly. "It's a good thing so many of you are able to use magic. I doubt normal humans like us would have survived this if not and me and Mike are both grateful to everyone who helped today. Heaven was part of this wedding and it overcame hell" All the good people with good hearts and good intentions made all the difference.
*****
Then everyone's eyes went to Leo as he approached to join the group. Mike and Papaya fell silent out of respect and awe. They were never going to get used to seeing a real live god in their midst like this. Larissa and many others looked from Perla to Leo, clearly wondering the same things she voiced. Surely a god was more powerful than that demon? Why did he not aid them?
They were surprised at Midnight's words. "Who makes the rules?" Misty asked in confusion. "Mightier gods?"
"Some things are better left as mysteries" Larissa answered her friend. "Midnight is right" She looked back at Leo and flashed him a grateful and friendly smile. "Thank you for what you did do. Your help is much appreciated and I'll make sure to remember it. I know we all will" she said. "Thank you for not breaking the universe either" Larissa chuckled.
She looked surprised but pleased at Leo's words. She smiled. "Everyone had tried their best. That's all we could really do" she said. She turned to Misty "And Misty, you helped Midnight endure the beating. She's alive because of you and Eilene, and everyone else. You should be proud of yourself for someone who's never used magic. You did great" she hugged her and Misty hugged back, her brown cheeks reddening.
"I-it was nothing, really" she said, her voice shaky.
Larissa's attention was snagged again by Dr Mark speaking up and going to inspect Midnight. She let go of Misty and turned around. She gasped as her eyes widened. "Oh!" she wanted to say 'the babies!' but she couldn't reveal their secret, not now. "Um, maybe we should give you both some privacy?" she said, changing her sentence. "Medical check ups are very personal things"
People nodded and agreed and started to move away or turn around, leaving the doctor to do his job. Papaya noticed there were still undead animals everywhere."How are we going to clean all this up? Those imp things made a terrible mess. And the battles and attacks. Everything's in shambles" she said. Then she realised something "Wait - honeymoon? Where are you having your honeymoon?" She asked her daughter, grabbing Larissa's arm.
Larissa opened and closed her mouth "Uh, well, we prefer to keep that a secret" she said. She didn't want anyone to know where they'd be plus it was their romantic getaway. They really didn't need people dropping in to say hi.

William nodded as Amity pointed towards the others, and he released the spell; they gently floated downward as their feet hit the grass.
He gently pat her shoulder, letting Amity go where she would. The danger had passed for now, and even Midnight was looking better now. How? William had no idea, but he wasn't about to question why one of his best friends was back from the brink of death.
---------
I was surprised with not only Papaya but also Mike spoke up, I looked on at them gratefully as Mike said he was no longer so terribly opposed to my wedding of Larissa. I nodded to him and accepted the hug from Papya.
People were surprisingly more accepting of the explanation I had given then I expected. I did have to wonder, as if I got far enough I'd be also bound by similar rules... wouldn't I? The rules would have to be made by either a councvil of gods or some head honcho, some king. Jupiter maybe, if my knowledge of the zodiac holds true. Still... not important right now.
What was important was Dr. Mark's checkup. Larissa was quick to encourage some privacy after talking up Misty a bit bout how the lovely voiced lady had helped.
"The changing tent should be enough..." He turned to look in that direction. It was still standing, the roof had been burnt off but the shelter of the walls should do for the checkup. "Yes." He glanced at me. "Would be easier if you were human.
"Right." I said, transforming back into my human self. I walked with him.
At least until we passed Mia sitting on the stump Leo had been occupying a few moments ago. Her head was in her hands as she was hunched forward; Charlotte was sitting next to Mia, rubbing her arm.
"Mia." I said, as I paused in my tracks-- seeing some nearby undead elk looking about warily. "How are you doing?"
She lifted her head, pulling her hands down so that they still covered her mouth but her eyes were still as blank as ever... and her skin was so pale. She had no color to her whatsoever.
"Still waiting, still watching..." She said slowly. She sounded as tired as I had felt before Eleine had healed me.
"You know..." Said another voice. Jacob came striding over, eyeing Mia. "Normally I would kill any necromancer who dared practice their craft on this sacred ground..." He eyed the pale punk woman, who was returning the dagger glare right back.
"... But you somehow managed to summon such a huge bone army without drawing on the life of the land." He said as he relaxed. "I cannot help but be impressed. Put at least a portion of them to rest though, you're going to hurt yourself."
Mia sighed. She waved her hands and the swarms of insects, flocks of small birds and the scurries of squirrels and other small animals started to move as one. "You have done well, my friends. Rest now. May I not need your aid again." Mia said as a portion of the forest's dead vanished back to their resting places.
After a moment or so, color slowly started to return to Mia's skin, she was looking infinitely better.
"Perhaps if they are willing, they can help with the cleanup?" I asked Mia. Most everything was wrecked by the imps, I highly doubt we'd be able to fix most of the stuff to reuse it.
Mia nodded, as the elk, the bears, deer and other of the larger undead animals moved to aid with the cleanup.
"Midnight..." Charlotte said, and I stopped to look at her as I had been ready to move on again.
She pulled out what looked like a small dagger, and the thing reeked of the signature scent of hellfire. She was holding it with distaste and disgust. "What should I do with this?" She asked. "An imp stabbed me with it. If Mia hadn't been able to get the sun to respond..."
I held out my hand and she carefully handed it over. I grimaced and sniffed it. "Demonic corruption poison." I said. A poison that would attempt to turn holy... unholy. How could I tell? I don't honestly know... I just knew.
I exchanged a glanced with Dr Mark as we both realized what it was for. This had been for Larissa.
"LILIANA!" I turned and bellowed, causing the teacher to hurry over with Brutus in tow. I tentatively offered her the dagger. "Can you keep this safe?"
The teacher carefully took the dagger, looking at it, and sniffed it with a frown. "I can. We can discuss this later, Midnight."
"Good." I said with a smile, my teeth sharp. "I hope that b*****d realizes.... this means war."
Liliana looked at Mia and Charlotte as she stowed the foul object away. "Would you two also perhaps like to take Defense against Demonics?"
"Yes Mam." Both Charlotte and Mia said without hesitation.
It was then that Dr Mark took my arm and continued leading me towards the tent.

Amity was glad to be back on solid ground, even though she'd enjoyed floating in the bubble. It was fun. She wandered over to join Misty and Larissa. "Misty, how did you know you could do that?" she asked her.
"I didn't" Misty said solemnly. "I just remembered seeing the spell in my grandmother's journal, so I thought I'd try it" she admitted. "I wish I could have been more help. It was all I could do" she said. "It's not as pretty as Larissa's divine crystals but it worked"
Amity smiled and hugged her "Hey you did fantastic. It's the thought that counts, right? Even if you'd done nothing, like me, simply wanting to do something is good. I wanted to help more too but I didn't know what to do. I thought I'd just get in the way. William was very helpful through the whole ordeal. He's a good guy" she said, blushing as she said that. "His magic is cool, it's impressive. Kind of makes me want to learn some, though I don't know what kinds there are. If I could learn magic that complemented his skills maybe"
Misty grinned knowingly "Ahhh...I seeee" she said, eyeing her shrewdly yet playful. "Already planning your futures together, huh Mitty? You've got it baaad" she teased her friend as Amity quickly tried to shush her
Amity had put her hand over Misty's mouth. "Shh, shh! Don't say that so loud! I don't want anyone to hear" she hissed.
Misty giggled. "Maybe you should give him your email or phone number, ask to be friends"
Amity hesitated, nervous and shy, "Do you think I should?" she whispered, leaning in and cupping a hand by her mouth to hush her words.

Papaya let go of Midnight and moved back out of the way when Dr Mark said he'd like to check her. She was confused. Didn't the blue haired girl and her blue cat heal Midnight completely? What could he be checking? Maybe Midnight had some condition or health issue people didn't know about. She looked around at all the chaos the demons' attacks had caused, and saw the bone animals were helping to clear up and tidy the place. Papaya didn't like their smell or appearance but she didn't want to stand around while others did all the work.
"Come on Mike, let's help tidy up. Larissa, hon, you stay here and talk with your friends. It's your special day, you don't have to spend it cleaning up" she said.
Larissa frowned lightly "But mum, I can't let you guys do all the work" she paused to cover a large yawn. "Ugh, on second thoughts, I'm suddenly really tired. I might rest for five minutes or so" she admitted, tiredness grating her voice.
Poff yawned too and Larissa picked her off her shoulder and cuddled her "Time for a cat nap" Poff meowed softly. "Using so much magic took its toll on us both"
Larissa nodded and went to sit down on the flower sprinkled grass. She set Poff on her lap and stroked her, yawning again. "Yeah...we cast so many spells" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
Misty and Amity started to help clean up the place and make sure all the guests were all right. Once everything was cleared up and packed away, the peaceful glade in the forest almost seemed too empty. Larissa got up and wandered in the direction she'd seen Midnight go. She met up with Dr Mark "Is everything all right?" she whispered, concerned and worried about Midnight and the paused pregnancy. "Nothing important got damaged, right? Nothing irreplaceable?" She kept her voice low and quiet so no one else could hear.
Poff sat on her shoulder as per normal, quietly looking around. "The wedding's over and you're married. What are you going to do meow?" she asked Larissa.
The crystal witch smiled "We're going to go relax and de-stress on a wonderful honeymoon. And look forward to the future together as a family" she said. "Hopefully a family that grows bigger"

He ushered me into the tent and we stepped away to a sheltered corner where he clapped his hands together and they started to glow softly; purple.
I held still as he ran his hands down my back and my front; the touch was slow, but he his eyes were closed and his brow furrowed as he slowly took in my condition. When his hands passed my pelvis he stopped and pulled back, opening his eyes.
"Whoever made that spell... their magic is impressive." He said, quietly. "It saved them."
I listened intently to his quiet words. "He could have crushed them, or your body could have started reabsorbing them for the nutrients that they could provide to help heal. The spell prevented both things from happening."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. "But they're okay?" I whispered back.
"As far as I can tell." He said. "I'd give turning it off another week, just in case."
I nodded. "Thanks doc."
With that we stepped out of the tent, and my parents didn't really let me help clean up so I instead wandered through. Gossamer and Sapphire joined me in my earrings once more.
I saw a figure approaching the clearing, and I went to investigate; it was the DJ! I facepalmed when I realized that the DJ had missed the entire ordeal, as the confusion was evident on their face when they saw the wreckage being cleaned up.
It was roughly then that Larissa caught up with us. I looked at her, before I shifted back to my half dragon form again.
"All is well and all manner of things shall be well." I said, gently picking her up into my arms; below my feet a large wide flat surface that was as black as night formed. It slightly misted. It was roughly the size of the dancefloor from before; I set Larissa down. "I'll tell you more when we're on our way."
"DJ, you should at least get to play one song. How about... We are all made of Stars?" I asked with a smile to them.
The DJ smiled back and their equipment formed in a hovering ring around them, electric and brilliant; the tapping of the music started. I then swept off with Larissa into a dance.

Larissa spotted Midnight and watched her change forms "You do that so easily. I'm almost jealous!" she joked, looking at the more dragon shaped person. She looked confused and curious at Midnight's words but her mouth turned up in a smile. "You said that before. Is that your new motto?" she giggled, "But really, I'm glad to hear that. I'm so, so glad" she said, hugging Midnight's arm. "Thank gods" she whispered. "Losing them would have been awful"
She squealed a bit when Midnight picked her up, looking down at the blackness that formed around them. "What's that for?" she questioned. Poff moved into Larissa's arms and she stroked the cat, hugging her. When Larissa was back on her feet, she knelt to put Poff down "Go see Seraph" she told her and the cat smiled and bounded off meowing "With purr-leasure!"
Larissa noticed the DJ and laughed "Oh my gosh! He still came!" she said, surprised and amused. "I suppose we may as well hear a song since we did pay for his services" She looked at Midnight and smiled "What a fitting song, Midnight. I've never heard it before" She grinned when Midnight swept her into a dance, and she danced happily with them. She could have been more upset, could have said the wedding was ruined, could have only focused on the bad things. But she didn't. She focused on all the good things. And that made her happy. She still had her spouse, they were still pregnant, the demons were gone and everyone was alive and well. Plus most of the wedding had been wonderful and everything she hoped for. She'd hold onto the memories for as long as she lived.
As they danced, Larissa let herself be in the moment, focused only on Midnight. She looked forward to their honeymoon and even more forward to letting their pregnancies develop and grow. And for the day that they became parents. It was something she always wanted; to get married and have a family. And although it was all happening different than she'd planned or imagined, it was all still good.
******* Time Passed**********
After the wedding day, Larissa and Midnight had went back to Aria to pack their things and then walked straight through one of the mansion's doors with their luggage. They entered the fancy hotel up in the snow covered mountains. Larissa hoped Midnight would like it here, because it was nice and cold. They were able to use their tickets that they had been given but because Midnight was an Ameras they could upgrade their room to a suite at the top floor without any extra cost.
Larissa dropped her bags on the floor and started to look around the room. "Gosh this is luxurious!" she breathed, "It looks like it belonged to Snow White when she's a princess" They had their own living room with plush couches, a big TV screen on the wall, a cosy fireplace. They also had two king size beds and a kitchen and dining area. Larissa lay on one of the beds and sighed in bliss "This is even comfier than the master bedroom at home!" she said, sinking into the mattress. The bed had a canopy hanging above it, making it feel even more like a princess bed.
She looked around some more "We have heating in the floors, and there's a fully stocked bar of snacks in the fridge. This is great!" she wandered to the bathroom "Wow, a spa bath! Neat!" she yelled.
Poff was walking around everywhere too, sniffing about. The cat found a large cat tree/tower and a plush bed plus complementary snacks and water. She leaped onto the cat tree and curled her front paws under herself, surveying their surroundings. "This is nice. Very nice" she agreed. "Almost like home away from home"
"What should we do first?" Larissa asked, going to grab brochures from the side tables next to the beds and the coffee table in the living room. "It says they have a hot spring, and a beauty spa that does massages and beauty treatments. And we could go ice skating on the frozen lake, eat cheese fondue or chocolate fondue, go sledding, go ice skating...ahh! There's so much to do. Hey they have a snow sculpture place too where artists sculpt the snow with magic. And and, the menu for the restaurants down on the first floor; room service. And a sauna, and wow, there's even more stuff to do"

The DJ played a couple more songs for us, and I found out as the last few things were being stowed away that it had taken so long for the DJ to get here was because he had gotten lost in the forest. Not surprising, that one.
Perla taught the both of us spells that would clean up and remove stains on clothes as we were wearing them. Considering that Larissa had my blood on her gloves and a little bit of green on her gown, it was helpful to preserve these fantastic gowns.
With that, I dismissed the dark dance floor I had summoned, and we went back to Aria.
As we packed, and in the privacy of our home I told Larissa about what I had learned from Dr. Mark. The stasis spell had saved the baby from the brutal attack. I didn't share the possibility of my body trying to cannibalize them, as the thought of it... it made sense that a dragon's body would do that, though she would probably find it horrifying. I did tell her I had to wait at least a week before I turn the stasis spell off. It made a good bit of knowledge though-- worried for the babies safety? Turn it on again!
Once we were done packing we headed through a door into the resort. I was pleased at the upgrade to the room, and getting there... I was most certainly impressed, and Larissa was eager to look at everything.
I moved my bags to a dresser on one side of the beds (the one closer to the window) and I glanced at the TV; it was on. "Oh wow, this place has it's own news station... they went all out on the resort."
They were discussing the opening of one of the newest slopes, for advanced skiiers and snowboarders. I made note, sounding like it would be fun to take a trip down.
I sat down on the bed as Larissa sunk into it. "It is nice and soft, isn't it? I doubt the bed-frame would hold me weight if I was to try sleeping on it as a dragon though." I said, mildly annoyed at the thought. I liked sleeping as a dragon, I didn't wake up feeling cramped in my own skin.
She continued to explore, and I continued to watch the TV. She commented about a Spa bath, and the news story changed.
"In other news, Olympic gold medalist ice skater Heather Begbie is staying at Snow White ski and Resort!" The news anchor said. "She even agreed to host a free skate program!" The picture switched to a clip of Heather in sparkily pale yellow gown giving her Olympic performance. I couldn't help but stare as she did a triple salchow jump and then a triple toe loop jump, one right after another. Her gown was swirling around her dramatically; her hair was a deeper auburn that flared around her like her dress. She was so lean and toned... Stars... "It is still in the process of being scheduled, but we are hoping in the next couple days or so! To be held at the Olympian Rink! Be on the lookout for more details!"
Oh boy. No one from collage may know we're here, but Heather was an old high school flame. She was two years older and I had a crush on her in elementary school, but when I finally took her out on a date in high school she tried to take me shopping and wanted me to pay for it all. 2 dates that went similarly later, and I had to break up with her before my parents got wind that someone was trying to use me for my money. I'd have to avoid her like the plague.
I reached over for the remote and turned off the T.V. I saw that Larissa had wandered over to the coffee table, and I got up and sidled up behind her, wrapping my arms around her in a hug and kissing her neck.
"I know what I want to do..." I said with a playful growl, my tail winding around our legs...
