[[Victim : Tower of Victim]]

"I... don't know. I've never been asked what I'd like. I simply am... still, I'm referred to as Victim most often," the boy on the hospital bed looked at them forlornly, "What brings you here? Did you come to kill me? Are you here to finally bring about the end?"

[[Nemesis : Cornerstones of Death]]

"Interesting, what would have inspired you to believe the events taking place here in Narnia were related to a great dragon?" Nemesis raised an eyebrow and tilted his head, "Besides that, Priory, Vigil? Are these some sort of religious affiliation? I can't say I'm familiar."

[Kyla: Louis’s Heart: Tower Nightmare]

Scared, scared- She was so scared. She could feel it, hear it, a low echoing roar of a being ancient and horrifying beyond comprehension. She could contemplate for the rest of her life and never be able to fathom the depths of its insidious evil.

And it was coming for her.

Kyla’s pitiful, terrified cries echoed in the dark, like a child. Walking the edge between sad, sorrowful and hysterical. She whimpered and put her hands over her ears to try and block the terrifying sounds from reaching her ears but somehow they were IN her head as well as outside.

And then they started talking to her. Joe, Louis, Tyue-

At first Joe’s voice was a faint buffer against the raging panicking sounds clamoring inside her. But with each gentle nudge she became aware of them more.

He was here? Why? What did he care? Deep down, no one really wanted her around. No one ever did.

Where did that feeling come from?
That dark voice. It sounded like hers, but listless, lifeless, hollow... like Kai’s.

Kyla could almost see Joe’s face as he spoke and yet just as quickly- she saw his back, turned. Turned away.

‘See? It’s just a front. They need you alive. They need your magic- but you already knew that.

Simultaneously she had two voices in her mind. One that sounded so much like her replica’s, and hers..or..rather..

~Trust in your friends. You have light inside you Kyla. That’s why you’re here. You ARE wanted.~

‘I have no friends. Just allies. You heard him. But allies are not the same as friends.’

~They can be, you only just met, give them a chance. They still don’t know you.~
‘They never will. Once I’m useless they’ll leave me. I have the magic they need- as long as I’m useful, a good tool… otherwise…’

~That’s not true! What about those times they’ve reached out. You’re not alone Kyla, all these people are just friends waiting to happen! Riku said you’re friends. Maggie is your friend. James- I’m sure he’s your friend, and Bobbi! Kyle too! SO many more to come too! I can feel it. I know it! You just need to hold on. I know it’s hard…~

‘But…what if he just said that because he had to, to keep my darkness in check… maybe he doesn’t mean it. We’re all just trying to survive… if I end up like Louis… They’ll kill me too. I’m just… a number.’

~You can’t know that. It’s not that simple.~

‘As soon as they are given a slightest doubt they’ll turn on me. I’ll be thrown away- and might as well. I deserve it.

..Even so. I don’t want to die like this. Not like this. It’s too scary.’

Kyla didn’t know what to believe, and right now there was no way she’d figure out the hard answers. There was just no time to resolve this right now.
Joe would only hear her crying, that sound coming in and out in glitching broken fragments like a bad radio connection. She tried fruitlessly to communicate with words that only got choked on the way out. Memories blurred with what she was seeing. The shadow, the massive maw behind the floating Louis shard – Joe’s turned back, so many angry faces. It haunted her. Now she was going to be swallowed whole!

Lies. Lies. She was alone. Carbuncle was a figment she made. Louis was just a fragment, and soon he’d be gone. They’d be forced to kill him, she’d be forced to kill him. No friends. No friends at all, and those few glimpses would disappear.

Maggie. ‘...you’re my friend…right?....’

The shadow was closing in now, opening its massive jaws, eyes, fire, darkness and teeth- and Kyla was screaming. Screaming, shutting her eyes and screaming as the teeth clamped down upon her and hit…something hard.

Something bright.

It surrounded her, and enveloped her. A shield. When did she cast that?

~Kyla? I know it’s hard. I do. There’s a lot of dark voices and feeling inside you that make you want to just let go… but I’m here to tell you- there is just as much light inside. You’re always two voices. Deep down you want someone to tell you, you deserve to live. ~ Carbuncles voice was somehow deeper and stronger then Kyla ever heard it inside her head.
~Its ok you know. You've been fighting all this time. There’s a side of you struggles to survive because it wants to live just as badly. It wants to see the day that you feel in your heart that you’re not alone. That day will come. I promise you. SO fight! Find your allies- they’re waiting for you!~

“G-get away from MEEE!!!!” Kyla didn’t really figure out how, but her book was indeed in her hand. Maybe things were so dark, she didn’t see her own body move to summon it. But like a brilliant flash she was exploding with light that rippled all around her and through her shields. She burst flock after flock of birn strikes in succession at the gnashing teeth still biting down to consume her.

It was a furious, hysterical, yet accurate. She aimed for the teeth, the eyes, whatever looked vulnerable.

Yes, this feeling. This panicked, struggle fight or flight feeling. Ever since she was little. She was always fighting to stay alive. That battle couldn’t end here in darkness. Not today!

~ That's it that's the way! Let that bugger have it!! Hang on Esteem we're outta here!~

Kyla screamed, and fought,. She charged her birn strike level 2 and the spell lit up like a firework, spreading it’s wings of brilliant light and flew like a rocket at its target- simulantiously turning night into day with its brilliance. For one striking moment- she was in awe of how brightly it burned.
Was that it? Was that what people were talking about?

{Demyx, Zell .:. Louis's Heart .:. Cornerstone of Death}

"Yyyeaaah , not interested in joining another group with a pretentious name," Demyx drawled. "I mean really, the Order? Sounds like Organization XIII all over again, just with more job openings. No thanks."

Despite himself, Zell snorted in amusement.

{Red XIII, Yuffie .:. Louis's Heart .:. Tower of Victim}

Yuffie frowned a little and looked to her group, trying to gauge their reactions to Victim. Did he actually want to be killed? How bogus was that? She didn't like it, and she had no idea how to respond because as far as she knew, killing him was definitely on the table. Despite the seeming split of the whole group between saving Louis and killing him, Yuffie thought it was generally accepted that the killing him thing was something that might have to happen no matter what.

"We are here to help stop the evil as best we can," Nanaki said in his soft voice. "We hope to not have to kill anyone." He refrained from stating what he felt was the obvious, that there was a distinct possibility that there would be killing. He felt it was implied in his words, and had no desire to state out loud something that could possibly cause this poor child undue distress, assuming Victim was an innocent. He was still undecided on that; darkness could come in some very attractive and disarming packages, after all.

{Bobbi .:. Louis's Heart .:. Tower of Traitor}

Bobbi flinched when Riku placed his hand on her shoulder, fully expecting an attack. But before she could lash out, she recognized the gesture for what it was, an attempt to calm her. Oddly enough, rather than enraging her further as such a gesture normally would, it worked. The touch broke through the barrier of rage she had unknowingly built, and Riku's calm seeped its way into her. It did nothing to calm the turmoil of her heart, but at least her head cleared. She covered his hand with her own, and growled out a deep sigh.

"You're right," she said, voice still a low growl as she focused on the calmness. Shiva was a major help, being an emotional shoulder to lean on, letting Bobbi direct her rage and drain it into the aether where it belonged. But just when she had calmed down to the point where she was thinking clearly, and the world wasn't filtered through a haze of red, Traitor's voice rang throughout the tower again, followed by the sounds of something breaking. Bobbi turned to look, feeling something toying with the Wall she still held manifest, just in time to see her ice barrier shatter--and impale Nick.

"No. No!"

One hand reached out, the flow of mana was reversed, but there was nothing Bobbi could do to stop what had already happened. She was too late, recalled her spell too slowly, and now Nick was dead. Gone. Sacrificed on nothing more than a traitorous thought. As Nick faded into shadows, Bobbi felt her knees hitting the platform, her outstretched hand dropping limply to her side.

"No no no no no, this is wrong, this is terribly wrong," the archer breathed, eyes wide, as she ran her fingers through her hair, clutching at her head. "This isn't right, this isn't justice, this is--"

This is ******** with my head too much, and now Nick's dead, he's dead and this is all my fault, if I just hadn't picked this stupid tower, I should have gone somewhere else, I should have gone to Victim, I could probably help a Victim, but I didn't think, I just picked the tower closest and now this--

The voice spoke again, stating the toll, adding more blood to Bobbi's hands, and the world blurred as tears began to stream down her face. Her hands were limp at her sides again as she stared blankly at the space that Nick had previously occupied. At the snap and new source of light, Bobbi turned to look, dreading what she would see, dreading to know what other lives were on her conscience, and let out a mewl of purely emotional pain when she saw Rae.

"Before you stands an ally you have lost. And another, you yourselves put to the sword. To save one, you must sacrifice the other 2. Choose your fate."

"That wasn't us," Bobbi protested, struggling to her feet again. "Yes, we thought those horrible things, but we didn't act on them, we--" Again a sigh, this one born of frustration and despair.

You're making excuses.

"We thought them. And thoughts can be just as painful, just as hurtful, just as murderous as anything. Thought leads to action, but there's a crucial step in between that none of us went through. Choice. None of us chose to act on our thoughts, and it's the conscious choice to act that makes all the difference in the world. So yes, we had traitorous thoughts. Either betraying ourselves or betraying our allies or betraying the people we swore to protect. But we did not choose to act on them. That choice was taken from us. It's not the thought that makes a person a traitor, it's the choice to act on that thought."

"If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice."

"And what the crap does 'to save one, you must sacrifice the other two' mean? There's five hundred over there--" Bobbi flung an arm out to encompass the mass of Narnians "Four of us left, and then those two. Are you saying to save one person we have to sacrifice two people who are, for all intents and purposes, already dead? Or am I missing something here?"

I would be so much happier if I could just punch Louis in the face and get it over with, I swear to god.

But I'm not going to let my friends go this time. If any of us has to be sacrificed, I'll volunteer. I got them in this mess, it's only fair that I play my part to get them out of it.

[Dawn : Louis' Heart : Tower of the Traitor]

The dancer was only able to watch as the grotess scene played before her. Not only did some of the citizens die, but Nick was-

"Noooo!" Dawn shouted as she ran to the place that Nick had been standing and went to her knees. In fustration, sadness, and anger, some of which she could of been emulating from Bobbi- she couldn't tell for sure, started to punch the ground.

"This is not what I wanted. Nick may of been a creep at times. But he didn't deserve this!" she cried as tears went down her eyes as she continued to punch the floor, "This is so stupid. I hate this. I don't want any part of this sick test or game whatever it is."

'Why? Why do you insist on torturing us Louis?' she thought as she stopped hitting the ground and rested her forehead on her closed fists, 'What do you want from us? What can we do for you by sitting through this? I can't do this. I want to help.. but not like this....'

[John .: Louis' Heart :. Tower of the Nightmare]

John cocked an eyebrow at the figure that kerplunked into the white abyss from seemingly no where. He recognized it as Mathy immediately, but it could have been a trick. Hearing his voice, however, assured him that said Mathy was not a fake Mathy and that the Mathy he knew and enjoyed was standing there all nice and friendly-like.

Roger that boiiiiieeeeeee!

John assumed the position: Legs taught at 90 degree angles, left hand behind his hand and the right piercing the white abyss. His face, a mixture between joy and sexually determined satisfaction. He pumped his right arm to the left in short choppy motions while his groin and left arm gyrated with the rhythm. With every blast of rhythmically synchronized motion, John let out an audible "Gawhhnnhh!
to emphasize the beat.

When finally his right arm stopped at the end to the left, John screamed, "Mathhyyyyyyyy" enthusiastically and musically.

Holding out the note John quickly ran to Mathy and attempted to tackle him in glee.

{James : Louis’ Heart : Tower of Traitor}

With a nod James released his hexagun to help insure that no one else would get hurt by their own weapons. Mizu’s Mirror Wall going up would definitely help as well. He listened to his allies responses all the while the cracking and snapping sounds not lost to the corsair, causing his fists to clench in the tension. His head snapped to the platform upon which the 1,000 people stood as the disc moved and people began to fall into the abyss. His eyes opened wide in horror as they fell. How many of them were lost he had been unable to keep count through the screams and the constant pounding in the corsair’s skull. The gunner’s face felt hot as he heard all the pleads, shouts, and curses, he tried to tune them out but it was extremely difficult.

The sudden and violent sound of shattering caused James to focus once again and he turned as Nick was skewered and pierced by none other than the sharp shards of the wall. The voice finally spoke explaining it’s intentions as Nick fell just as half of the Narnians had. A new platform appeared this one upon which none other than Rae stood and the question was put to them again. To save one they had to sacrifice the other 2…

The corsair’s right hand ran through his hair, a frustrated growl escaping from his mouth curled upwards into a snarl. His temper really starting to boil regarding this whole situation. He had thought of Nick, and it was clear he hadn’t been the only one… Those thoughts, those traitorous thoughts alone were enough to condemn him to an undeserved death. Now the disembodied voice wanted them to choose again. If they had not resisted so strongly would all 1,000 have been saved from the off? He honestly wasn’t sure anymore. He looked around him, at Dawn who had crumpled to her knees crying and Mizu who had just managed to get back to her feet, though clearly emotionally distraught. He wanted to comfort them. However, so long as they were in this trial it would do little good. They needed to end this.

”You really are just a filthy, lying, whoreson,” He muttered under his breath. It was a Witcher insult, but he honestly didn’t care at that moment. ”To me at least now there is truly no choice,” He stated, his voice gaining volume as he spoke. ”You are powerful, there is no doubt about that! But you are not all powerful! There is no way that is Rae! The only logical choice is to save the one that we know for a fact is real and that is Nick!” He bellowed the last statement, his breaking point reached as he looked towards the Narnians, Rae, and Nick before turning his gaze skyward.

[[Tower of Traitor]]

The voice, before unresponsive to their pleas and demands, replied to Bobbi, monotone and emotionless, "500 innocents, 1 ally lost to another, and 1 you killed. To save 1, you must sacrifice the other 2."

Dawn's cries were replied to with silence from the voice, only the begging screams from the despairing masses filled the quiet space their judge had left to their thoughts.

There were flickers, ghostly images of Louis standing, looking forward with a comatose stare... before him Seymour holding out a hand. They were gone in the blink of an eye.

A choice not to act is just a choice of ignorant displacement of fault. An act, of betraying your free will by handing it over to another to decide its fate.

James' demands went just as unanswered, though he was greeted by a ghostly figure walking straight through him. It was Louis, he appeared to be speaking to someone behind him where James now stood judging by how he'd look back occasionally while staring off at a sky or ceiling that was not there. These too, were gone just as fast as they appeared.

No, Lies were his specialty. Through trial, truth of betrayal is revealed.

[Joseph: Louis' Heart: Tower of Nightmare]

Well, no matter what Amy ended up saying, Joseph just nodded, rubbing his chin. "Yeah, okay, I'm gonna do it."

He went over to the wall, gingerly rubbing it with his left hand. It was a wall. It felt solid. But he had strength on his side and a whole hell of a lot of anger. And so he reeled back his right hand.

The feeling...an almost pulse along his muscles as the charge of power, the focus came into play. "Hopefully you don't have to, but this might hurt me. Soooo might need your healing after." And then he let loose his fist, letting it fly into the wall.

The resulting force let out a loud bang(nothing deafening, but loud nonetheless). And then there was just...a hole. A very large hole, with cracks along the outer edges. Cracks that seemed to grow larger and larger, spanning the walls and floor with increasing speed.

"Uh oh." Okay, so he didn't actually expect to bring it all down, but it looked like that was going to happen. He quickly retreated, grabbing onto Amy to make sure they kept together. Darkness seemed to flood around them...and then they fell.

Joe was quick, and they didn't fall far before he was standing on a wind platform of his own creation, holding Amy close so he didn't waste more energy making the platform too large or multiple at once.

Still, now they were in the dark, and...well, he would have assumed hurt, but beyond a small tingle along the muscles of his arm, he seemed to be fine. Which...surprised him. Cause he felt what went through his arm, and he felt like his arm should've been akin to a limp noodle. Was it because...

Joe was distracted, looking around. Dark. Dark everywhere. Except for them. Apparently, Joseph and Amy were glowing. And there was one speck of light down, down below them.

Helping Amy along, they jumped down, going from platform to platform, the light getting brighter and brighter.

Sooooooo is anyone in a dark place with a bit of a random light source? Cause apparently we're there, now...here, I'll send a little proof it's me. He sent those thoughts along the charms, and then sent a small, light caress of a breeze down towards the light. A warm, soft breath of air as he continued down with the white mage.

[[Tower of Nightmare]]

Kyla's shield sprang up around her, coating her in light, she had magic, as the darkness crept around her shell, it could not harm her... she floated there, surrounded, each tendril, each wisp licking against her defenses like flames at a green branch.

"Keep going Kyla," Esteem perked up behind the bubble, "You can do it!"

---------------------------

Meanwhile, as John and Matthew greeted one another, there was a loud crash like glass clattering to the floor in a million pieces. The world, all at once, shattered.

The two fell together, into darkness.

---------------------------

Next to Amy and Joseph in their slow decent, two more people blinked into existence, careening past them. John and Matthew both falling into the abyss.

As Kyla protected herself in the bubble she might see the four small, shimmering stars falling from the abyssal black sky towards her. Esteem looked up, instantly sensing their approach before looking over and smiling excitedly at Tyue, "Kyla! Kyla look! Your friends are here. They're here to help. You see? You're not alone! The darkness can't hurt you now. Fight! Keep going! Defeat this nightmare and show it just how bright your light is!"

The world was exploding like fireworks all around them, to those above it might look just like fireworks, only coming from below rather than customarily... and hopefully above. Birn strikes zipped past those falling stars but flew beyond harmlessly, exploding in the distance adding permanent twinkling objects in the endless darkness.

[[Victim : Tower of Victim]]

"You mean..." he looked dumbfounded, "You're not here to kill me?"

The boy thought for a moment then silently, but visually gulped. The action was pained... like the wince at a throat afflicted with strep, "Or... are you here to torture me instead? I don't have much information for you, really. I'll tell you what I know... then leave your wounds and go. Just... don't make this worse than it already is."

[Dani :~: Louis’ Heart:~: Tower of Traitor]

Dani just shook her head at Dawn as James was explaining thoughts. She was diligently trying not to really think other than just looking around the room. She was looking for Traitor specifically and as she kept silent listening to the others converse. She tried to keep herself calm as Riku had said. Her chakrams dissipated but the floor of the platform they were standing on was starting to get covered in water.

Drip….Drip….

She watched as her choice of people were being sacrificed and stop as Nich was killed right before them. As this happened the water coming from her arms came down even quicker. Dani locked eyes at the party she was with as she assumed they had thought of killing Nich since she had thought of killing everything but the party. She knew already that if they were to make it out, they needed everyone no matter what. Even to her, she was not really against Nich as the others apparently were.In the end her choice did not matter as the others thoughts overruled hers.

Dani closed her fists, blocking out everything around her until she saw Nich again alive and well. “So my theory was correct.” Dani finally let a thought slip as Nich was put next to the now 500 people platform and this mysterious third platform. She honestly did not know who it was, but by judging the others it must have been someone they once knew. Finally, when everything settled Dani looked to group in what can only be described as either anger or…disappointment.
“Do you see what you have done now?” Dani said looking to the group. “I told you there was only one logical choice because the rest were illusions. Now look what happened. Nich got pierced and is fine. I don’t care if you have feelings for the other two. They are not real. The only real one is Nich!”

Dani looked over at James as he said his piece and was happy at least someone else besides her got it. She then locked onto the flickers of Louis moving around the room. “Hold on.” Dani said as she watched the Louis flicker around James before disappearing. “I am seeing flickers of Louis everywhere… this isn’t good.” Dani tried to reach with her water towards the Louis ghost that was near James before it disappeared but it was too late. “Crap.” Dani said as she put her hands to the ground. “James has a good idea with this ceiling” Dani thought as she used her water that was already on the ground to make water spikes stretch up to the ceiling just to see what was going to happen.

[Dawn : Louis' Heart : Tower of the Traitor]

Dawn slowly opened up her eyes and simply listened to the voices, the cries, around her. She felt her heart aching for them all. The dancer looked up to see the images of Louis and Seymour. She looked up at the groups as they showed before them. All just out of reach.

She had to agree with James and Dani, the only one they knew was real was Nick.Dawn already said she was not going to betray him or any of her friends. She then looked at Rae. A girl she only vaguely knew. She was there when the girl's heart was taken. Everyone was shaken up when the girl was lost. Though she knew everyone want to save this girl, Rae was already gone for all they knew. She may not even be real. That included the Narnians....

"Guys, I am going to try something," Dawn said as she stood up, wind starting to move around her, "If this doesn't work, Dani, try and catch me with that water of yours. Kay? I am going to try and get him back."

Without waiting for a reply or a go ahead from the others, Dawn's wind picked up strength. After several moments, Dawn jumped. She sprung up, aiming for the platform that Nick was on. If she didn't make it, she was prepared to use Dani's water as a back board or cushion.

[[Tower of Traitor]]

Dawn, took off skyward towards Nick, in a beautiful arc... for about 10 feet... then slammed full force into an invisible wall, flattened like a comical pancake before falling back to the ground.

{Red XIII, Yuffie .:. Louis's Heart .:. Tower of Victim}

"What?! No!" Yuffie yelped, shaking her head vehemently and waving her hands as if to calm the boy down. "We don’t torture, we’re the good guys! Right?"

The last was said to the rest of her group, her tone simply asking for back-up and not as if she were double-checking. Nanaki nodded his head.

"We are here to help, not to hurt," he added. He cocked his head to one side, regarding the boy in the bed with a steady gaze. He wondered if he would be made to eat those words later.

{Bobbi .:. Louis's Heart .:. Tower of Traitor}

Bobbi growled in frustration as Traitor just repeated his words without further elaboration or even changing them. That pissed her customer service training right the ******** off. If someone is having trouble understanding something, you don’t repeat the same thing in the same words, you try to phrase it a different way so that they can try to understand. Clearly, Traitor didn’t give a crap if they understood his stupid game, so long as they played by the rules. Which he also hadn’t told them.

Man, this guy was a real jerk.

Okay, so clearly things are illusions. Nick seems fine, but that might be an illusion too, and— wait.

"Hey, Nick! If you’re still alive, flip me the bir—aw, dammit, Dawn!"

Hastily, Bobbi knelt to the ground, dipping her fingers in the water Dani had so readily supplied. She used her ice magic to mold the water into a platform following Dawn’s trajectory, wide and thick and solid enough that she could land and walk back if need be—

Doink.

Dawn had come into contact with an invisible wall and tumbled back down to the platform. Bobbi still knelt, ice magic swirling around her hands and ready to be directed as the Archer stared at her best friend in disbelief. As Dawn descended (with a squeaking noise as she slid down the barrier that would have been absolutely hilarious in any other situation), Bobbi dismissed her magic, though she left the partial platform she had made. With a sigh and a shake of her head, Bobbi pinched the bridge of her nose between her glasses, squeezed her eyes shut, and muttered, "god dammit, Dawn."

In the back of her head, Shiva was laughing hysterically.

.:You know,:. Bobbi said over the charms. She'd have spoken out loud, but that would have required taking her hand off of her face so she wouldn't be muffled, but the pinching of the bridge of her nose was helping her headache. .:Maybe we should try that whole "teamwork" thing. You know, actually work together instead of going off and doing our own thing without giving proper notification to the others, Dawn.:. She gave Dawn a mental thwap upside the head. She hoped it translated through the charms.

I'm such a hypocrite, but god dammit, Dawn.
