User ImageI listened to Larissa talk as I nibbled on the cake; I let the plate hover as I also clapped to Thomas's short speech. clinking the glass with Larissa's before resuming my nibbling.

I swallowed my cake, licking my lips. I hadn't been thinking about Seth but she had accidentally brought him up-- I had to resist an eye roll at the mention of him. Rather then potentially start an argument, I finished my cake as the bass. "I think it might be the karaoke." I said. "Wanna go see?" I said, setting my cake and glass aside, offering my hand to her.

Larissa ate probably way too much cake, but it was her wedding day and gosh darn it, if she couldn't stuff herself with cake for that, then no other excuse would be good enough! She'd had about four slices already, and she was still craving it. She had frosting and crumbs around her mouth and cheeks, and she licked her sticky fingers with glee and contentment.

She picked up some napkins and tried to clean her face when she heard Midnight's reply. "Oh! Karaoke. I wonder if there's some good voices hiding among us. Actually, when we were younger, Misty used to be really good at singing. I wonder if she'd get up and sing something"

She took Midnight's hand and nodded, still trying to clean her face with paper napkins and her fingers. "Uh huh, sounds fun" she agreed, licking her fingers. "We have a DJ coming soon to play music for the dance square. And there's some games planned and uh, it looks like some people are worshipping Leo. I hope that's okay. Oh my-...Dad...what are you doing?" she facepalmed as she saw her father kneeling before the god, placing down cash and cake as offerings and praising Leo for being their family's new patron deity. Larissa turned pink and tried not to look. "I just hope he doesn't get us or himself in any trouble" she muttered.

She cast about for her mother and saw the woman over by the familiar table petting and admiring the familiars. She was patting Pearla's cat and complimenting him and asking to take photos. She was also feeding Poff tidbits, and gushing and fussing over the 'cute talking animals' and their 'special abilities'.

Misty wandered over to Midnight and Larissa, smiling as she looked around "Hey I heard there was some games and a DJ coming, and something about karaoke. Can I come watch? Amity's busy talking to your mom and dad" she giggled, meaning Midnight's parents. "I'm kind of in a mood to play and burn off some energy from that rich three course meal. Everything was delicious and I ate way too much!"

User ImageI smiled at how cute Larissa was, trying to clean her face of frosting and licking her fingers. It was a weird thing to find cute, but that's love for you-- I've heard it called divine madness and that's pretty accurate. I smirked at Mike's worship of Leo; though the lion god was accepting it graciously as the man was giving willingly.

As Misty stopped to talk to us, I noticed Liliana pass us by with a smile. Brutus was staying near the familiar table, eating a large venison steak. I waved to Liliana as she passed by.

"The DJ should be setting up soon." I said to Misty. "I suppose the Karaoke can hold us over till they get here. I hope he's not too mad that we're in the middle of the woods." I said, referring to the DJ. The person I had picked was a bard who specialized in a bunch of different types of music. Electronic mainly, as it was convenient and varied.

-------

Leo meanwhile accepted Mike's offerings and praise with a gracious smile. "Thank you for being so generous." He said, patting the man on the shoulder. "Here's a piece of advice. Perhaps you should try to be more accepting of what's going on around you." He said to Mike with a friendly smile. There were a few things Leo noted that Mike had problems with, and perhaps the man's tendency to say 'No' instead of at the very least 'okay' had hurt him more then it should.

Snagging the cake and the cash, Leo headed out of the pavilion as well before Mike could go on further. The god had an agenda in mind, and it concerned that succubus...

-------

"I think most of the games will be in here or on the dance floor." I said as I watched Leo pass by, two plates heaping with cake in his hands. "I think the majority of the people need to clear out though, give them space to set up. I think there will be poker, some video game stations, board games and some others." I said as I thought about it. "Karaoke sounds like it'll be on the dance floor though."

With that I gestured for Misty and Larissa to follow; there was a large, flat wooden dance floor/stage set up nearby, half under the shade of some trees. I glanced around but didn't see Liliana or Leo anywhere... I glanced back into the Pavilion, but Brutus seemed fine where he was.

Over to the dance floor, I found William waiting for us. He was quick to pass me the mic. "I have the song set up for you."

I accepted it with a grin. "Perfect."

~~~~
Liliana had headed towards the lake, when she found a plate full of cake shoved into her hands and a big hand grab her by the back of her dress-- dragging her roughly into the shade of the trees, out of sight of the wedding.
"What? What are you doing!?" She asked; she dug in her heels, but the person man-handling her had a grip like iron.
"Sit." He said with a growl, and Liliana plopped down on a stump that was conveniently there. The half-succubus didn't know if she had been forced to sit or if his voice just commanded that much. She looked up at Leo, with mixed emotions on her face. He himself was leaning against a tree, grinning at her with a... lot of teeth.
"Eat up. We need to talk." Liliana couldn't help but start to nibble on the cake, picking up pieces while watching him.
"What do you want?" She asked between mouthfuls. She already had some cake, she didn't want more, yet somehow she couldn't say no to him. "If you're just going to harass or hurt me because I'm half demon, spare me the pleasantries and get on with it."
This made Leo almost snort into his cake as he also picked at it. "Dear, I don't care enough about you to hurt you."
"Then why?" Liliana glared up at him.
"Because there is someone here I do care about." He grinned at her again. Liliana was fairly certain that amount of teeth shouldn't even fit in his jaw.
Liliana stared at him. "Brutus?"
"That's right." He took a decent chunk of cake and popped it into his mouth. "Demons will be here in roughly..." He glanced up at the sky through the trees, holding up a finger. "... An hour. I intend to keep you out of the fight."
"Are you nuts!?" She declared, standing abruptly. "I need to go warn them! I will not let my familiar fight alone!"
"Sit." He growled again, and Liliana's knees nearly buckled as she quite quickly sat down again.
"He can handle himself, with or without you." Leo said, munching on another piece. "You on the other hand..."
"Don't inult me." Liliana hissed. "I can take them easy."
"If everyone was on the same page, yes." Leo said. "But there are people here who are suspicious of your presence. Like you have the Brides under a spell. They show up and you enter the fray, and everyone's aiming for the target on your back. Admittedly, the people at the wedding mostly have better aim."
This made Liliana nearly freeze where she sat.
"And if you get struck down, by either side... what do you think will happen to your dear Brutus?" Leo asked.
Liliana wondered when she had been holding her breath. She let it out, slowly and shakily. "H-He'll go feral."
"Indeed he will. And true carnage will begin." Leo said, his voice turning into a rumbling purr.
"But I have to help." Liliana protested again. "If I don't..."
"You won't." He said, and waved his hand. The blessed blade that Liliana wore at her hip, hidden by an illusion spell so that it wasn't obvious floated away from her to his hand.
She tried to snatch it out of the air; but was too slow thanks to the plate of cake. "No!" The blade floated right up to his hand and at his touch it was consumed in stellar fire; before dropping tip first to stick in the dirt.
The blade had changed. It's pommel was a roaring tiger, the hilt wrapped in midnight blue leather. The guard was circular and round, two tigers circling it inside of an outer ring. The blade was shimmering, silvery steel, and the steel seemed to reflect a starry sky (even when there is none.)
All Liliana could do was stare at it; her blessed blade was now a divine instrument of Leo. No way was she going to be able to pick it up now.
"Even if you manage to get away from me." He said, still purring. "Your only tool will now no longer cooperate."
The morning star bride had managed to get herself properly cleaned up. She would certainly have been tickled that Midnight found her cute. Being called cute was a high compliment to the effeminate girl. Her parents worshipping Leo wasn't the worst thing that could happen. She just hoped her father didn't make any deals or agree to anything odd. Larissa noticed Lilian walk past Misty and Midnight. She smiled seeing the happy look on her face. She hoped she was having a good time. She watched Midnight's friendly wave towards their teacher.
The purple haired girl grinned at Midnight's words. "Oh, good. I love to dance! I'm sure it'll be fun. But karaoke is fun, too! Gosh I haven't tried it since we went to Amity's house and used her karaoke play set. That was years ago. And nah, people have weddings in all sorts of places, I'm sure it'll be fine. So long as he gets paid it should".
*****
Mike smiled as he was thanked by the god and patted on the shoulder, feeling pleased. "Oh it's no problem. I merely wish to show the proper respect and gratitude to the new patron deity of our family" he replied. He listened carefully to Leo's advice. Since it was coming from a god, he accepted it more readily. "Be more accepting. I-I see. It's all just so foreign to me, I - I find it quite frightening and overwhelming. I'm not used to the magical world, y'know. I'm just a simple human, and I like to keep life simple. But yeah, I...I will try to be more open minded about things. It just feels uncomfortable and kind of scary at times, y'know? But I'll do my best, mate. I mean, Leo. I just need to come to a proper understanding of this stuff" he smiled and stood, waving a hand as he said the last two words. Meaning everything from his daughter marrying a genderfluid dragon, to the magical people and creatures, and the familiars. It turned his simple world upside down and shook it hard. But with Leo's encouragement, he relaxed a little. He just needed time to get used to the new things and ideas.
Mike wandered over to join his wife, Papaya, who was now over talking to Midnight's parents. He smiled and shook Quirrell's hand "Hey there, how's it going? That was some beaufiul reception wasn't it? Still can't believe our girl is married" he chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "But hey, I'm glad that she's happy"
Papaya looked at him, raising a brow "You seem to have changed your tune a bit from before. You were afraid to talk to the 'magical folk' earlier. Well good. I'm glad you're coming to your senses. Pearla and Quirrell are perfectly nice people" she turned and smiled at her new friends. "He always comes around eventually" she reassured them. "So, what do you do for work?" she asked, trying to continue the conversation.
*****
Larissa and Misty also watched Leo saunter past, their expressions wide eyed when they saw how much cake he had. "Wow, now that's an appetite" Larissa whispered to Midnight and Misty, covering a giggle with her hand. Misty smothered her own giggles as well.
"Yeah, Midnight, you're right. We wanted to have the games in the pavilion so people could be more comfortable. And it's covered in case it rains or anything. The dance floor is more open though, since people get hot while dancing". Larissa chimed in. "I wanna play some of the board games later!" She followed her spouse to the dance area, where the karaoke machine was set up. Misty walking alongside her. Amity appeared and tailed the group, joining them on the dance floor. She'd had enough of talking to the older people.
She kept shooting glances at William, watching him hand the microphone over to Midnight "Ooh, what are we singing?" she asked excited and curious. "Go Midnight~!"
The girls formed a small audience for Midnight, watching her take her place on the floor. Misty seemed nervous but eager to have her turn, and Amity was paying more attention to William.
User Image Oh fun. I thought, as people were gathering. I have an audience.
William stepped off the strange, and noticed Amity looking at him; the charming sorcerer gave the woman a wink and a smile as he stepped aside.
That as when the music started to play. The beginning was slightly discordant, before settling into a smooth beat. As the music started an illusion of myself appeared next to me, almost a perfect copy. "Do I look lonely?" I started, my voice turning to my deeper male voice. "I see the shadows on my face..." I considered the illusion intently-- "People have told me, I don't look the same~♪"
I swear, if anyone had told me I'd be a woman and marrying another lady, well. I'm not sure if I'd believe them. Now though, that was my reality.
I turned away from the illusion, brushing it away and it shimmered out. "Maybe I lost weight, I'm playing hooky...." I gestured to the crowd. "With the best of the best! Pull my heart out my chest-- So that you can see it too!"
"I'm walking the long road... Watching the sky fall." I sang as shimmering shooting stars streaked across the backdrop; gossamer white, and dissolving into glittering fragments of light. "The lace in your dress tangles my neck-- How do I live?" I pulled at a ribbon of of pale blue lace that had appeared around my neck... before shrugging and tossing it over my shoulder like a scarf.
"The Death of a Bachelor~♪!" I belted out, louder now. "O-o-oh! Letting the water fall!" I spun on a foot, making my gown twirl dramatically. "The death of a bachelor!! O-o-oh! Seems so fitting for Happily ever after!" I declared, putting my hands over my heart; "How could I ask for more? A lifetime of laughter, At the expense of the death of a bachelor!!" I spun one foot again, pleasantly surprised at how my gown seemed to shift from the seemingly restrictive mermaid skirt to something more free as I did so. I was doing ballet spins in this thing!
The rest of the song went like that, me conjuring illusions to go along with the lyrics of the song. At the line 'Smile even thought you're sad' I couldn't help sharing a glance with William as I did yet another spin-- I don't know how much time I'd have for pranks when I return to my hometown, and I'm sure William would miss those fun times. This was a very, very deep song despite the fact that it was done by Panic! At the Disco, which was more known for crazy.
Th last few lines had me standing on my tiptoes, holding the mic up to the sky as I also looked into the never-ending blue. I was panting-- wow, I had gotten into that a lot. I held the pose a moment longer as the music ended, before taking on my more normal posture as I ran my fingers through my hair and gave another flirty smile to Larissa.
"So." I held out the mic. "Who's next?"
Singing and dancing on the stage wasn't quite as exhilarating without an audience to see you perform. Larissa and her friends remained spellbound watching the singing, dancing and illusions. They were all amazed at Midnight's voice. It certainly took Larissa's friends by surprise because they sounded so male, but it was good. Larissa wondered why Midnight wasn't a famous singer or artist, they certainly had the voice, confidence, appearance, etc. Midnight wouldn't have any trouble getting into that industry if they wanted to. They were sparkling and different and colourful, they stood out. They were already popular and had connections in high places.
Larissa couldn't believe how beautiful and cool Midnight looked on the stage, performing. Some of the lyrics touched her heart as well and she thoroughly enjoyed the music. It was a new song she hadn't heard before but it was good. She clapped and cheered with her friends at the end.
Amity had grinned to herself at William's wink and smile but her attention quickly switched to Midnight once they begun their song. She applauded at the end of the song, and cheered loudly "Go Midnight, that was awesome! You killed it!" she yelled happily, grinning as her eyes sparkled. "Geez, I dunno how anyone could follow that act, with the illusions and all, that was amazing" she laughed.
Larissa had missed Midnight's glance towards William at the lyrics that said smile even though you're sad. Probably for the best anyway, the hormonal woman didn't need any reason to be jealous of Midnight's friends. And if she thought there was something between Midnight and William, she would have been upset by it. Maybe even threatened by the handsome sorcerer's presence and the fact Midnight might leave her for him. If they got into too many fights, it could happen.
Larissa however, didn't notice anything and she applauded along with Misty and Amity. She walked over and hugged Midnight once they stepped down from the raised part of the stage, kissing them with enthusiasm. "That was a good song!~" She said, joyful, almost breathless. "I didn't know you could sing! Like that. Your voice blending perfectly with the singer of the song. God I don't know much about music, I probably said that wrong but I just want you to know that you rocked!" she cheered, squeezing Midnight again "I loved it. I love you" she said, softer and heartfelt. "The words in it...makes me happy" she grinned, her lettuce green eyes bright.
She then let go of Midnight and turned to her friends "So...who's next? You can't ask me to go up there, I'm bloody horrible. It's gotta be one of you two" she egged on.
Misty and Amity looked nervous, they glanced at each other then laughed. "Well, I guess I could give it a try. I'm not that good, but I'm not horrible either" Amity said. "The music should drown me out a bit anyway" she giggled, as she walked onto the stage. She took the microphone, taking a few moments to compose herself and steel her nerves. "Okay, this is for you guys, my friends. Don't laugh!" She chose a Katy Perry song and once the music began, started to sing. Firework
She danced as she sang, enjoying herself and just having fun, moving around the stage, smiling, sometimes giggling, her voice wasn't bad, though she was a little off key in some parts. But the words to the song were clearly meant to make her friends feel good and happy, as she meant them for them. Her blonde hair tossed and shone in the spring sunlight as she moved around. Once the song ended, she laughed at herself, and pretended to take bows "Thank you, thank you! Mwah! You're the best!" She blew air kisses to the audience.
It was almost surprising to Quirrel and Perla when Mike came up, seeming a lot more confident. Or at least to disregard the magicness of it all.
"Indeed it was." Perla said pleasantly. "Our Midnight loves to show off, as reserved as she is. Not how I imagined my... daughter's wedding, but wonderful none-the-less."
Quirrel and Perla watched the interaction between husband and wife with almost the same expression. It seems they were both slightly amused. Both of them had a collection of chocolates infront of them.
"We run Amerazing Chocolates." Quirrel said. He leaned back and gestured to a table next to the cake. "Midnight made chocolates for the event, if you'd like a sample. Cherry dragonsbane truffles, Peanut butter raspberry jam exotics, and I believe cherry ginger infusions."
I'm fond of the cherry ginger." Perla said, considering the options. "Though the Cherry Dragonsbane is unique. Tastes like the holidays, almost."
"Which holiday?" Quirrel asked, popping one in his mouth. He chewed, savoring the flavors. "Christmas or Halloween?"
Perla thought for a moment, savoring one. "Mmmm.... Both."
~~~~~~

User Image I had been half worried Larissa would question the song, but she seemed just as moved as the audience; happy. I thrummed as she expressed how happy it made her. I was absorbing the praise, grinning so much it almost hurt.

I watched as her friends decided among them who would go next; and next was Amity singing Firework. I sat down with Larissa and watched, holding her hand as I enjoyed Amity's performance.

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Mia watching, sitting next to Charlotte; the two were holding hands again, I looked back to Amity with a smile.

~~~~~~~~
Liliana set the plate of cake aside. brushing off her fingers from crumbs and running them through her hair. She curled her legs up under her, feeling feeling alone; she could fully feel Brutus, but the tiger seemed blissfully unaware of her predicament.
"Are you sure someone would attack me?" Liliana asked of Leo, looking back up at him. She searched his face questioningly for any shadow of a doubt that his concerns were unfounded, but he looked as stern as ever.
"I am sure." He said.
Liliana glanced back at the blade. She'd have to get a new one blessed now... but she had been looking forward to that fight. "Damnit... Is there no way of averting this!?"
He continued to pick at the cake. "Nope."
She stood again, her fists at her sides. Liliana didn't know what it was about Leo, but the way he was acting stirred her blood to a boil. "You're a god. You can prevent the attack from happening!" She said, making a wave with her arm towards the lake.
"What would be the fun in that? The only real threat will be going after Midnight, and I'm sure the dragoness would appreciate the adrenaline." Leo said.
Liliana just stared at him. "You are insufferable."
"Thanks for noticing. I'm flattered." He gave her another toothy grin.
Surprising what a god can do to change someone's behaviour or opinion. Mike's fear of angering or upsetting their patron deity ensured he did his best to follow what was suggested by Leo. He had to be more open minded and accepting of everything weird that he wasn't used to. And he was trying. It wouldn't happen overnight but effort counts.
"Ah yes, well, it was quite the performance; above the lake and all. I just didn't expect my...uh, my um...daughter?...in law to be a mythical or uh, magical creature" he admitted, shuffling his feet. "Was a real shock. Um, yeah, uh, sorry to ask a sensitive question but what do you guys call her? My daughter called her Midnight, and used 'them' or 'they'. What is that called? I'm just kind of confused. Is she a man or a woman?"
Papaya covered a laugh at her ex's ignorance. "She is both and neither, Mike. Using they/them pronouns is common for genderfluid or non-binary people. People who don't like to conform to stereotypical genders or gender roles" she explained. "Don't worry, I didn't know what it was until recently either. I've been broadening my knowledge on such things over tumblr. A fascinating website it is. You really can learn a lot from the internet these days. It's nothing new and it's not really unusual. They've always been around, it's just becoming more popular and awareness is increasing" she said.
Mike grunted his understanding and nodded "Ah, I see. Okay then" he said, still trying to process it and accept it. The concepts were new and confusing. He looked back up at Pearla and Quirrel when the other man spoke and he seemed genuinely interested in the chocolate business. "Oh, cool. Um, okay then" he said, looking over at the table with the different flavours of chocolate. "Midnight makes chocolates too? Is she....they...going to inherit the family business one day?" he asked. He moved closer to the dessert table and picked up a plate, placing some of each flavour chocolate on it and returning to Pearla and Quirrel and his ex-wife. "Those all sound pretty good" he told them. "Here, you wanna try one?" he held the plate out to Papaya and she looked surprised but pleased.
"Oh, oh okay, I think I will~!" she smiled, taking one of the chocolates and putting in her mouth. She chewed appreciatively and made a sound of approval "Mmmmm!"
Mike coughed awkwardly and took a chocolate for himself, chewing experimentally. His face turned from puzzled, to curious and then pleased. "Woah, so this is dragonsbane. I've never tasted anything like it. It's great!" he enthused, finishing the chocolate. "I can't describe it, there's...so many nuances of flavour. It's very nice" he told Midnight's parents.
He took another chocolate and popped it in his mouth, chewing curiously "Mm" he made a small noise of enjoyment "The ginger cherry is strange combination but oddly good"
Papaya took one of the peanut butter raspberry jam ones. "Ooh! This one's a bit cheeky" she chuckled, finding the PB&J flavours sparked memories of school lunches from her youth. Only far more delicious. Papaya looked at Pearla. "So, I see you're also a redhead. Well, mine's more of a light orange, my parents named me for the tropical fruit it matches" she said warmly. "I suppose that's where Midnight gets their hair colour from? By the way, about familiars...can you turn house pets into familiars or do they have to be magical creatures from the outset? I have cats and I've always wondered what they'd say if they could talk back to me when I talk to them"
Mike muttered something under his breath "Oh god, not the cats again" They were Papaya's 'babies' and she had 3 of them. Mike was more of a dog person.
*****
Larissa enjoyed hearing Midnight's thrumms, or as she thought of them, her 'dragon purrs'. She was glad that Midnight was happy and having a good time. Their wedding should be full of happy, good memories. She sat and held Midnight's hand, her thumb lightly stroking over Midnight's hand. She leaned against them and couldn't stop smiling as Amity sang her heart out. The words in this song touched her too and her heart was bursting with positive feelings. Her eyes teared up a little and she wiped happy tears on the back of her wrist.
It was only once Amity's performance ended when she looked around and noticed Charlotte and Mia. She saw them holding hands and waved at them with a grin. "You guys want a turn? It's fun!" She motioned to the karaoke stage.
Misty stood up and shook her head playfully "Nuh-uh! It's my turn now! I already waited for Amity so I go next". She walked towards the stage, giving Amity a high five as they passed each other.
Amity sat down next to Larissa and Midnight, glancing around for William. She flashed him a pretty smile, batting her eyelashes. She was in the mood to have some fun. She noticed Charlotte and Mia. "Oh, are these some of your friends from the academy?" she asked Midnight and Larissa, curious. She then raised her hand to the side of her mouth to hide her words and whispered "By the way, is that cute guy single? The redhead? William?"
Misty chose a song; she selected Coldplay's 'A Sky Full Of Stars'. She picked up the microphone shyly, standing quiet for a few moments to prepare herself. Then she started to sing as the music began. Her voice flowed like silk, it was beautiful and enchanting. Her words swelled into music, lilting, uplifting. Larissa couldn't stop grinning, as more happy tears streaked down her face. "Misty!" she called out, emotional and thankful. It was such an appropriate song, for both of the happy couple. For what they were carrying. She couldn't have picked a better song.
Misty danced and moved to the music, grinning as she sang, clearly having fun. Her dark skin and purple hair and eyes glowed, she looked radiant. When the song finished, she shyly said "Thank you" with a curtsy to the crowd. But then another song followed that one, and Misty looked surprised, before she started singing that too!
Larissa laughed "Oh no, someone stop her! Misty's on a roll!" she joked, as Misty began singing Coldplay's 'Paradise'. A heavenly song for a heaven themed wedding.
User ImageI clapped when Amity finished, a big grin on my face as she stepped down to hand off the Mic. Larissa was encouraging Mia or Charlotte to go, but Misty was quick to hijack the Mic as she also wanted to sing. I couldn't help but smirk at that, and sway along to the music that Misty sang; she was good. Hoo boy, that voice.
Amity, meanwhile, was curious if William was single. Wasn't she the one who caught the Bouquet? I wondered what the hurry was. Well, pertaining to William...
"Last I heard, yes. He's a sorcerer though... if you go after him you're in for a wild ride." I whispered back.
I turned my attention back to the music, and listening to Misty's singing. I bobbed my head back and forth to the music.
Then the song ended-- and I was almost disappointed that it ended. Then another song came on, and she was swift to start singing again. I continued to groove with the music-- I love this song!
When Misty was done, Mia actually got up (I hadn't thought she would) and headed up the stage to Misty. "That was great!" She said to Misty. "May I?" Mia asked.
I saw Charlotte sit up straighter in her chair, almost as if waiting for some cue.
-----
Liliana turned away, crossing her arms as anger welled up in her chest. Her father was right, gods were nothing but stuck up pain in the--
"Hey now." Leo said, putting his hand on her shoulder and turning Lilana around. "I'm being gentle with you, you know that."
"Brutus and I are a team." Liliana hissed at him. "This is not right, you bas--!"
"You are a demon." Leo said sharply and matter of factly. "I am a god. Chill out... unless you want me to treat you like a cat treats a mouse." Right. The god of cats is being nice.
This deflated Liliana a little, though her arms were still crossed. She watched him stroke his chin, as if he was considering something.
"What?" She said.
He turned his head to eye her, with those blue black eyes of his. "I suppose I have another option... if you so desire it."
"And that is?" She eyed him back.
This made him smirk as he ran is finger across his chin. "Take up Leo's Fang, the blade that waits it's new wielder." He said. "And repent for the evils you had committed before your evils turned in on themselves. And give yourself to me--"
Lilian nearly flinched backwards.
"... As my angel." He finished. He crossed his arms.
"I will be no angel!" She declared, almost as a reflexive instict. No, no way! "I will not serve some stuck up collection of cosmic power!"
He shrugged. "Liliana, I'm a god of cats. The most I'll ask for is a belly rub now and then."
This made the half-sucubus woman hesitate. Leo was amused to note that she was eyeing the blade once more. After all... wasn't it one of her dreams, to be divine?
Both of Midnight's parents listened to the couple; Papya explaining genderfluidity to Mike and watching them sample the chocolates. "If you like them, do like Midnight know. She likes having feedback on her confections."
It was then that Papaya asked something that made both of them cringe. Familiars were always a touchy subject with non-magic users... Hazel then jumped onto Perla's lap.
She petted the Egyptian Mau, as the cat gave Perla and intense stare.
"Normally, um." Perla said. "Normally there is a ceremony held where various animals are brought in for a mage." She said. "Usually a familiar is gained as a baby, a cub or hatchling or something like that. Even then, the chances of getting the creature you want is... astronomically small."
"We're people too." Hazel piped up. "We're not dumb animals!" And Perla shh'd him. "It's okay love, it's okay." And she picked Hazel up and started soothing him.
"Adult creatures aren't generally receptive to the process of becoming a familiar." Quirrel said. "The only real exceptions for this are familiars who have... well... lost their previous mage and are in the process of going feral." He seemed mervouse about the subject. "They'll seek out a compatible mind to link with, and if none is to be found... well.... The familiar is turns wild and dangerous."
"It is not a pleasant process in the least." Said a deep growl from nearby. Brutus had overheard. Brutus strode over, licking his lips clean of red from his meal; he then sat on his haunches and looked at the group. "And you all are? I am Brutus, familiar of Lilian Abando."
Misty blushed a bit and made a soft happy sound at the compliment from Mia. "Ah, yes, thank you" she said meekly, politely handing the microphone over to Mia."Have at it" she encouraged with a friendly attitude.
Larissa smiled and clapped once Misty was done. "That's her mermaid heritage coming out" she said in an aside to Midnight. "Her voice is enchanting. She can keep you under its spell if she tries. But she's far too nice for that".
Amity seemed to perk up at Midnight's reply "Ooh, nice! I could use one of those" she said with a saucy tone. "It's been too long since I met anyone that exciting" She leaned back away and brushed herself off, standing up "Well,I might go have a talk to him. Can't hurt to get to know each other a little" she said airily, before sauntering off to see William. She found the sorcerer and smiled at him disarmingly as she approached, "Hey there handsome. What did you think of my karaoke skills?" she joked, tossing her hair with one hand. "Just kidding! That was fun though" she grinned. "Gotta love Katy Perry". She paused, thinking "So, Midnight tells me you're a sorcerer. That's pretty cool. What kind of magic can you do?" underlying her words was a trace of flirty and playful.
Larissa looked curiously at Mia on the stage, then back to Charlotte and back to Mia. "Huh. I wonder what song she'll pick" she said to Midnight, leaning her head on her shoulder. "Did something happen between those two? Something seems to have changed in how they're treating each other" She said meaning Charlotte and Mia. "God, Charlotte did such a wonderful job of this dress" she said, looking at her dress and lightly fingering the glittering stars made of diamond before tracing one of the delicate fluffy clouds.
*****
Mike and Papaya nodded at Quirrel's words regarding the chocolate. "Oh yes, we'll be sure to let them know" Papaya answered, while Mike said "Yeah, will do"
His ex then asked about familiars. Mike cringed at their cringing. What social faux pas did Papaya just make? Mike jumped a bit when the large Mau leaped onto Pearla's lap, stepping back a bit.
Papaya looked hopefully at Pearla as she started to speak. "Ohh I see. A ceremony" she said, thinking. "Ah, okay. That explains things somewhat" she replied, nodding.
She looked at Hazel and smiled apologetically at his tone and Pearla having to soothe him. "I don't think any animals are dumb animals, really. All of them have the measure of intelligence the gods have granted to them, and each is special in their own ways. I simply have a strong love for all animals and cats especially"
She turned her gaze back onto Quirrel when he chimed in "I see. So with my own cats, it probably isn't possible" she sounded slightly disappointed.
She looked upset when he told her about the ones who went feral. "Oh no. That's terrible. How sad. I'm sorry I asked. I do hope that isn't very common and that most of them find minds to link back up with. I'm sorry, I just wanted to know if it was possible to make my cats familiars and give them human level intelligence, such as the familiars of the magical world. But then again, they're happy how they are. No need to fix something that's not broken, or in this case, several someones. I love them dearly. I wouldn't want to put them at risk when or if I pass away" She looked around as a deep growl sounded, and saw the magnificent tiger walking over. Papaya gasped, her hands to her mouth. "Oh...oh wow" Her eyes followed the tiger.
She looked apologetic towards Brutus. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. I don't know much about magical things or creatures. I didn't mean to upset anyone" she said. "I just think you familiars are so amazing and I wanted my cats to be able to share such a bond with me, and I, them. But it's all right, I love them as they are, and our bonds are plenty strong. No need to turn them into familiars when they're already happy and so am I".
Papaya watched him sit down, very graceful. "We're Larissa's parents. I'm Papaya Wingates, and this is Mike, her father" she gestured to her ex, who was sitting very stiff and still in his chair, nervously eyeing the tiger.
"Er, yes, pleased to meet you, sir" he licked his lips nervously.
Papaya carried on "Talking animals are a commonly loved idea in the non magical, human populations" she explained. "And I was at the familiar table and was thoroughly charmed by them. The white crow, the fruit bat, Larissa's Snow Poff, and others. Just lovely, such an experience being able to talk with animals. As this Mau cat said earlier, you really are all people, and he is right" She paused. "Still...that doesn't make regular animals any less special. I treasure all life forms", she said kindly and with respect.
User Image"Mmmm... She is good at it." I said as Mia accepted the mic from Misty and the woman stepped off stage.
"The club isn't the best place to find a lover, so the bar is where I go~♪" Mis started, her voice clear and confident as she started to strut back and forth across the stage. "Mmm! Me and my friends at the table doing shots; drinking fast and then we talk slow. Mmm!"
Oh, I know this song; I happen to love this particular remix of it. I had been expecting something more punk, but I'm not complaining. I leaned over to Larissa, whispering in her ear. "I think this will answer your question."
"Come over and start a conversation with just me, and trust me I'll give it a chance, now; take my hand, Stop-- put Van the Man on the Jukebox and then we start to dance~" She turned to fave the audience, winking and doing her own spin-- but it was almost more if a moonwalk move. "And now I'm singing like: Girl you know I want your love, your love was handmade for somebody like me, comon now follow my lead... I may be crazy don't mind me~"
"Say Girl, let's not talk too much~♪" Interjected another voice, and gazes moved to Charlotte who was leaning against the stage. "Grab on my waist and put that body on me, Come on now, follow my lead-- Come, come on now, follow my lead!!"
"Mmmm" Hummed Mia as she reached down to help Cherlotte onstage with her.
The beat dropped then, and the two linked arms; dancing around in a circle in almost a folksy way to the beat. The way they were looking at eachother, those smiles... I hoped they were as happy together as I was with Larissa. I watched as Mia took Charlotte's hands and spun her away and snapped her back to her.
"I'm in love with the Shape of You, we push and pull like a magnet do! Although my heart is falling too...I'm in love with your body! And last night you were in my room,And now my bedsheets smell like you~ Every day discovering something brand new-- I'm in love with your body~♪"
The song continued much like this, them dancing and singing together in what was quite the duet. I bobbed my head back and forth as I watched them dance and sing onstage. Oh yeah, there was no denying what was going on between them.
The song ended with Mia and Charlotte doing a dip as the last few notes seemed to echo away; Mia had her hand on Charlotte's back as the fashionista was leaned all the way back, their other hands entwined.
I couldn't help it; as Mia pulled Charlotte back up stand I surged to my feet, clapping loudly-- the whole group did so as well, clapping and cheering as the two shared a kiss onstage, before they stood next to each other and gave a deep bow.
William meanwhile, found himself approached by Amity. He smiled at her as she approached him with a flirty demeanor. "It was most certainly fun." William said to Amity, not really mentioning that she had been oh so slightly out of tune. It was all about having fun, right? "I'm a stormcaster." He said, waving a hand and a cloud formed over the two of them, white and fluffy; casting shade over the two of them like the fluffiest of umbrellas. "I have a natural affinity for the weather."
He he was still watching the karaoke, make no mistake; and when Mia and Charlotte finished their song he stood and clapped heartily as Midnight did. He then approached the stage and snagged the mic as they left the stage. He balanced the mic on two fingers before flicking it to land correctly in his hand
"For the happy couple.... I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE!" He declared as as the music started-- the plucky sound of the strings and the beat of the drums heralded the rock song in progress. My head was rocking with the beat.
~~~~~~~

"Well, Familiars are a bit of a touchy subject." Perla said as she stroked Hazel. "A lot of... I'm sorry, but normal people tend to treat them like a novelty. Or a dumb creature that is capable of talking. I am not implying that you were, but please be understanding of our initial reaction."

Hazel rolled onto his tummy and she started stroking his belly, while he gently pawed and played with Perla's hand. Now that the tenseness of the situation had passed, the large Mau was relaxing.

"Probably not, indeed. I'm sure you are a wonderful caretaker for your pets." Quirrel said pleasantly.

Meanwhile, Brutus was basking in the attention his mere presence afforded. "It is fine. The Magical and Mundane communities are quite separate." Said the tiger. "Information on such things are not as widespread as they should be."

"Quirrel and Perla Ameras, Midnight's parents." Quirrel introduced them.

"Pleasent to meet you." Brutus said. "Fun fact, the familiar ceramony was designed to help expand the horizons of new mages. They would walk in hoping for one creature, walk out with another." He said, almost as if it amused him. "Just this year, one of our students was hoping for a lemur or a small monkey, perhaps a sheep, ended up getting a scorpion." He said. "She loves that little guy so much, still. Another was hoping for an arachnid, ended up with a bunny. I was told tha---"

He was about to start regaling them with stories of his own students, when he stopped-- his gaze distant for a long moment, his jaw hanging open. He turned his head to look at the door.

"What did he DO!?" Said the tiger, a mixture of confused an alarmed. He turned away from the group, hurrying away before with a bound he was out of the pavilion-- making much haste into the forest near the edge of the lake.

He came across Leo first; he was walking towards the wedding with an empty plate in hand. The tiger came to a screeching halt infront of the god-- ready to launch some kind of accusation, but the words caught in the tiger's throat. But the god could easily see the concern in the tiger's eyes, and he gestured to the figure in the black dress behind him, still sitting on the stump.

Wordlessly Brutus moved past him, and approached Liliana. She had her face covered by her hands, and the blade in her lap.

User Image As Brutus approached, she pulled her hands down slightly to look at him; the woman was a mixed up tangle of emotions. They stared at eachother a long moment as Brutus studied what had happened to his mage.

"Are you okay with this?" Brutus asked, finally. Her ears kinda perked up.

".... I willingly took this on." She said after a moment, gesturing to the blade across her knees. Liliana couldn't help but notice that her voice was different. "I... I'm confused."

Brutus couldn't help it; he purred deeply and started gently headbutting her chest. Liliana couldn't help but laugh and start to scratch behind his ears, before she seemed surprised that she was also making a similar noise.

She looked at herself, once more. "... My wings don't match my dress."

Brutus just laughed. He purred again, and the saddle that he occasionally wore, formed on his back. Liliana stood, sheathing the blade- too beautiful to hide-- at her side, before climbing sidesaddle onto it before the tiger turned back to the party; racing past Leo and out into the clearing beyond, towards the dance floor.

Misty sat back down with the others to watch Mia sing. She looked over as a blue haired girl walked over to them. "Eilene".

"Oh there you all are. I got sidetracked. I was helping set up some games at the pavilion" Eilene said, her blue cat riding on her shoulder, and Poff riding on her other shoulder. "Poff wants to be with Seraph and he wanted to come with me" she giggled, sitting down carefully so as not to damage her dress. "So here we are"

Larissa smiled as Midnight whispered in her ear. She nodded, watching Mia sing. It wasn't her favourite song but it was okay. It wasn't for her anyway. It definitely was for Charlotte. Larissa watched them curiously, they looked like they were having fun and they seemed happy. She smiled and reached over to pet Poff and Seraph. "Gossamer and Sapphire will come looking for Midnight in a minute, I think"

She kept watching their friends and got to her feet to clap for them once they took a bow. Eilene and Misty applauded and cheered with her. Charlotte and Mia stepped down off the stage and joined the rest of the group.

Larissa saw William head over to the karaoke and looked back, noticing Amity watching him. She beckoned her over and Amity stepped closer for a better view of him.

*****

Amity knew she wasn't that good at singing and had missed a few notes. But she wasn't being serious about it. She wasn't the worst singer at least. Her interest piqued when he said he was a stormcaster "Ooh, that's cool" she marveled. She watched the cloud form over them both and reached up to try and touch it. "So is it because of you that the weather is so nice today?" she asked with a trace of humour. "I'm curious as to what a stormcaster can do, besides make clouds. Oh, it feels cold..." she said, standing on tiptoe to get a better feel of the cloud. "It's pretty cute"

She did pay attention to their friends and the singing but not as much as he was. She applauded out of politeness and a dose of appreciation. But nothing could take her attention away from the fascinating sorcerer. She watched him and stole looks at him while he had his eyes on the stage. He was very attractive. She watched him walk towards the stage and grab the microphone. She smiled as she danced a little in place to the beat of the song. She liked rock music.

Eilene put Seraph and Poff down in front of her and the little cats danced together to the music, having fun. Occasionally touching noses or rubbing against each other as they danced. "Looks like we're not the only happy couples here today" Larissa announced, grinning at the cats and at Mia and Charlotte. She turned to Eilene "I'm sorry, but it's going to be hard for them to be together"

Eilene nodded "I know. And they know. They're just enjoying the time they have together" She rested her chin on her hand as she watched them with a smile of empathy. "You guys can always come visit me and Seraph though. And I can visit you too if you like. We'll keep in touch, even after we graduate" she promised. She looked around the other people and said "Right guys?"

*****

Papaya looked at Perla while she talked. She nodded understandingly "Oh yes, I see. Please excuse my ignorance. Though as I said before, I don't think any of them are dumb creatures. Maybe a bit of a novelty though since it's my first time getting up close and personal with familiars. If I had one, I'd treat them the same as my daughter" she said. "A person. But, I don't have any magical talents that I know of, at least, I've never looked into it or pursued it. I just got caught up being a mother and doing hobbies and my work. You know, life gets busy. Anyway, just because I don't have one, doesn't mean I can't admire them. Hazel there is quite lovely"

She smiled fondly and with slight amusement as she watched the big cat get his soft belly rubbed "Oh, can I?" she asked Perla, hoping to be able to pet him. She looked at Quirrel and smiled "That's okay. And I try to be the best cat mum I can be" she said with a bright smile. You could hear the love in her voice when she spoke of them "My fur babies" she chuckled. "I have someone looking after and feeding them today and I already miss them"

She looked back at Brutus. "That's all right. It's understandable. After all, people can misuse magic unsupervised, though I'm sure the Academy puts out information for people. But then again, wizards and the like are known to guard their magic and knowledge from mere humans".

She kept watching the tiger, smiling at him. She listened to him speak, his voice was nice to hear. She could listen to that deep silky voice all day. She jumped a bit when he shouted and ran out of the pavilion. "Well, I take it that was about his partner spellcaster?" she asked a little confused.

Mike just sat there with his mouth slightly open "Uh, I uh, I'm scared to speak in case I say something wrong" he uttered. "But I'm trying to just, absorb everything" he waved a hand. "I am guessing that has something to do with Leo the deity. Since the tiger is a feline and the god is also feline"

User ImageAmity was giving William all kinds of flirty eyes. I watched him onstage as I rocked out to the steady beat of the song. I was dancing a litle bit, and I glanced over to see that the DJ was here and setting up-- fantastic!

I couldn't help but chuckle as I grooved and watched Seraph and Poff dance. Sapphire and Midnight were already nestled in my earrings, though I could feel them grooving too.

When William was done with the music, I heard a loud voice call my name through the chatter. It sounded familiar but I couldn't place it... I scanned the crowd, and I saw a very pretty angelic woman on Brutus's ba---

I did a double take. That's Liliana's dress. I hurried over to the tiger and his rider to... well, I was honestly trying not to gawk, but this was sudden.

"Midnight." She said as I approached.

"Liliana, is that you?" I asked her.

"One ex succubus, at your service." She quipped as she slid off of his back; I noticed the exquisite blade at her side. Brutus purrred.

"Yeah, that's you... What happened?"
I asked her.

"Leo happened." Liliana said. "It's complicated. Either way though, we're going to get an attack like you thought we would."

"Damnit." Who else did we tell where the wedding was? Only the guests, the staff... No one was supposed to know. "I suppose he's not going to try and stop it?"

"He seems to think that it will be amusing to watch." Liliana said in a deadpan. Brutus shook his head, though I got the impression the tiger was trying not to snicker.

"Of course. He wants me to deal with it." I said, returning the deadpan. Totally what a god who is testing a potential god would do, right? Deliberately not interfere?

I closed my eyes as I started to chant, a ball of stellar darkness forming in my hands infront of me. I clapped my hands and the sound echoed loudly over the noise, and I was aware of my chanting starting to raise in volume too. I wasn't even trying to cast that loud. I could feel Gossamer and Sapphire, chanting with me as they aided the spell.

I then stretched upward, throwing the spell into the air-- it flew like a black missile, before it burst like a firework-- and then stellar darkness seemed to almost leak from the point of explosion, running down an invisible dome like ink or water down the sides of an upside down bowl. Soon enough there was the shadow of the stars above us, a shimmering stellar dome overhead. It was large enough to encompass the entire clearing in which the wedding was held, including the dance floor.

"Impressive. Light Dome meets Black Hole meets Holy Ward." Liliana said, impressed. "Nothing demonic can enter the area for 24 hours."

"Of course. This means." I said with a smile. "We can fight them on our terms."

Larissa watched Midnight dance a bit and smiled, glad they were enjoying themselves. She spotted Gossamer and Sapphire moving about on their earrings and laughed at her forgetfulness. "Oh there you two are! You're well hidden when you're that small" she said.

Amity was practically transfixed on William's voice and dancing. She was sparkly eyed as he finished the song and came down from the stage. She clapped enthusiastically "That was brilliant. I didn't know you were such a good singer. You're voice is amazing" she complimented "I could listen to that forever" she said, half joking. Her gaze then shifted as she heard a voice call out and she saw him turn to look at the source. Her mouth fell open. 'Is that an angel?!"

Larissa heard a voice call Midnight's name and she too looked around, along with everyone else, following Midnight's gaze to the large tiger and the angelic neko on his back.

Larissa followed after Midnight at a more sedate pace, walking over to Lilian and Brutus. "You look beautiful" Larissa complimented "Not that you didn't before. But, even more beautiful!" she said, laughing a little. "Are you happy? You look radiant" She cocked her head at the tiger's purr. Tigers usually couldn't purr, they chuffed instead, or so she thought. But he sounded nice and it reminded her of Midnight's dragon purrs. Maybe no one had ever tried to pet a tiger so they had not heard them purr. She had heard Leopards couldn't purr but later seen a video with a man scritching one behind the ears and on the neck and its purrs sounded like long drawn out growls almost, but the body language of pleasure and enjoyment made it clear they were purring.

She and her friends listened to Lilian's explanation. Misty nodded "Ah" she said, a small noise of understanding. "Gods can make their followers into angels, right? That's how that works?" she questioned, lookng at Larissa.

Her friend nodded "I think so. Yeah. Angels are the messengers of the gods. So that makes sense" she said. "Wait, did you say an attack?" she did a double take and then groaned "Aww. I thought we could get away from that happening"

"Hey it makes life exciting doesn't it? What's coming to attack you anyway? Other people? Jealous women?" Amity asked, not really understanding what was coming after them.

Larissa looked worried when Midnight said that Leo wants them to deal with the threat. "What? Alone? That doesn't sound good" she frowned. "If things get dicey, we're going to help you. Unless Leo stops us" She looked at her friends, the human ones "Don't be scared Misty and Amity. Just stay near the magic users. Amity why don't you stick with William? You seem to feel comfortable around him. The others, stay with me, Eilene, anyone else who knows combat and combative spells".

The young human girls watched as Midnight chanted and made a ball of darkness. Misty got scared and moved closer to Larissa, taking hold of her arm "What's that?" she asked nervously, her eyes wide as she flinched watching it grow bigger. "What are Midnight's familiars doing?"

"Oh they're chanting. Don't worry it's just a protective spell. To keep us safe from what's coming. It's nothing to worry about. Stay calm. Midnight knows what they're doing"

"I hope so" Amity muttered, folding her arms across her chest. Over her rather ample boobs. Not as big as Larissa's but they still filled out her silver dress nicely.

The dome formed over them and Misty relaxed a little, loosening her grip on Larissa's arm as she breathed a word in admiration "Pretty~!"

Larissa heard Lilian's words and looked at Midnight "Eh, I've seen enough things now, and yet I'm still always surprised at the next thing Midnight comes up with" she chuckled. "That is a very nice combination spell" she told Midnight proudly. "But it's not very subtle"

"It's kind of scary" Misty whispered, "Night in the middle of the day....w-why do we need a shield? What's coming?"

"Nothing to worry about. Probably just some stupid imps" Larissa reassured her "There's someone who doesn't like us very much and they like to send pests to annoy us and wreck our lives".

When she mentioned imps, a sound of many wings was heard. Leathery, like bat wings. It sounded like an entire flock of bats had surrounded the dome. There were screeches and chittering, squawks and hisses, scratching and cawing. Bangs and bumps and thuds came from outside as well as the sounds of spells being cast. "Uh oh, I was right" Larissa sighed. "Imps. A whole bunch of them!"

She pulled out her wand from a hidden part of her dress and cast a protective charm over Poff. The cat leaped onto her shoulder. "Everyone stay calm okay? We'll have them under control in no time" she smiled sounding confident and upbeat.

User Image"Why, thank you." William said when Amity told him she could listen to it forever. He gave her a sweeping bow before the noise caught his attention and he looked over at the angel on the back of the tiger. He also hurried over, and by the time I was done a decently size group of people had gathered to watch me cast the shield spell.

"Well, thank you." Liliana purred to Larissa. It was an odd sound that she made, clearly a purr but it wasn't like any cat purr or dragon thrumm I had heard. She looked down at herself. "... I'm.... not sure, actually. This will take some adjusting." Liliana told Larssia honestly.

She glanced at Misty when the purple haired woman commented that she was made into an angel by Leo. "Kinda? You need the mind for it, really..."

Speaking of the god, I glanced around to see where he had got too. He was strolling, as casually as you please towards us from the direction of the lake shore.

I didn't know why they were apprehensive about my casting. Then again, before I cast it this ball was as black as... well, a black hole. Still, the spell was cast, and just in time; imps swarmed over the barrier, hissing and scrabbling at it. That's... a lot of imps. It was like a small army of the bloody things were covering every square inch.

"Uh, Larissa--" I said, after she commented that we'd have this all under control. My words broke off when the ground shook from what sounded like a loud, heavy footprint. "Well... Knock on wood."

There was splashing from the lake, and I turned to look; out of the lake came a monstrously huge demon, who looked muscular enough to give Major Armstrong a run for his money. His skin was a dull grey green with a pair of sweeping horns coming from the back of his skull and curling forward; his eyes were big and black with gold pupils, and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and fangs; lakewater and plants were pouring off of it like waterfalls.

He sneered at the barrier, before his eyes settled on Leo, who for the most part was standing alone and apart from everyone else. The Lion god glared back at him, and the demon was rather quick to move it's focus off of him.

And of course that focus turned to us. Liliana and Brutus had already turned to look.

Liliana started swearing a string of profanities so rude I didn't want to repeat them here. Brutus's fur lit up with holy flame.

"Mia, Charlotte!" I called, as Jacob and William appeared next to me. I swiftly casted a blessing spell on William's rapier and on Jacob's bow. Mia and Charlotte were swift to arrive, and I blessed the bangles Charlotte used as an implement and Mia's brass knuckles.

As I was casting, the ground shook as the demon straight up punched the barrier. I flicked my tail as people stumbled, and I gulped. I turned to watch him punch it again, and a crack started to form.
