Kaok didn't know how to respond to that. So she took another sip of her drink and tried not to seem too happy. Tried.I know I'm coughing I believe in something I don't want to remember falling For their lies

Remus pulled out his reading glasses and began reading the Martian Chronicles. No, not the book by Ray Bradbury, but the Roman newspaper which shared the book's title. He preferred Chronicles to the Roman Times, because the media at the Chronicles spoke their minds as opposed to glorifying everything. Remus snorted at a section ranting about how he hadn't done anything to fix Earth like he had promised.

Emma's eyes narrowed at Samus' comment. "I should imagine that Will's name would have come up more than once in conversation." He was one of her favorites...and such a gentleman.

The Lieutenant scratched her nose awkwardly as she slowly faded out of the conversation. She glanced over at Remus quickly, but looked away a second later. Then she did so again, three times in fact until finally she gave up and took her drink with her as she sat by him.
"So, what appears to be happening in your empire today, sir?"I know I'm coughing I believe in something I don't want to remember falling For their lies

Fighting the urge to bang her head against the wall, Emma merely sighed and returned to King Lear, muttering something about how she would hope Samus had at least read one play. Or heard of one.

Remus was taken a little bit by surprise, but he managed to force down a blush, which ended up becoming a lump in his throat. He took a drink of water and then spoke up.
"Oh the usual. Hippies hate me, the military wants more funding and the gnolata seemed to have started a civil rights movement due to some discrimination problems. I wish my citizens could get used to other species living within the Imperial borders."

"Perhaps the problem doesn't lie in that these other species are so foreign? Studying new life forms has been a hobby of many beings for quite a while. Intelligent beings will always feel threatened by other new intelligent beings."
The Lieutenant chuckled a bit, remembering the beginning of her military career.
"I've heard a little about the gnolata. Their situation sounds all too familiar. But these Hippies... they're another species?" The way she phrased it, it was hard to tell if she was joking - completely intentional.

Emma watched out of the corner of her eye, Lear occupying most of her attention.

Remus laughed slightly. "Hippies are not a different species, though their minds are probably baked to the point that they may believe they are. They are simply delinquent human youth for the most part, who are against everything I do. They don't cause any harm, but their peaceful protests can be an annoyance sometimes."
Remus took a drink of his water. "So what about your platoon, Kaok? I hope they aren't causing you too much trouble."

Lt. Jayim stifled a laugh as he explained.
"They... well they aren't much trouble anymore. They got a bit of a frightening wake-up call. As did I."I know I'm coughing I believe in something I don't want to remember falling For their lies

A rather weary-looking Question walked into the tavern, sat down, ordered a coffee, drank the coffee, paid for the coffee, and got up to leave without saying a single word.

She put Lear aside for now, watching the goings-on in the tavern with impassive eyes, stifling a yawn as she did so.

"Really? Whatever did it take to get them to stay in line?" Remus asked showing some concern.
