Devon looked at her with a questioning expression, then sat down. "It was fine I suppose. It's work." he said. "What's wrong?" he asked, feeling something was off.

Devon let out an exasperated sigh. Why did his father have to explain this now? Could he have waited a few days? Or run it past his son, Alpha of the Werewolves? He was hoping to put that off for awhile. The the very lease until she was better.
No taking it back now. Maybe telling her now would give her time to digest it and then slowly integrate her in.
"I wish he would have waited for me at least. But he's right. You were going to find out eventually." she said dryly. "Don't worry about it right now, My Lark. You have plenty of time to get used to it and then decide if you want to pick up that role. Right now, you concentrate on healing, okay?"

Devon shook his head. "No. My dad doesn't usually get even with something so trivial." he explained. "And he wouldn't do it because he dislike your room either. My dad just throws off an aura of displeasure. Always been that way."
He was silent as he thought of a proper way to explain this to her. "I need you by my side, strong and health. But whether or not you put yourself with us wolves is your choice. But I AM a werewolves. My pack, my duty is a part of who I am. And I'm afraid that you are a part of that now. But no one is forcing you to lead of run with us... or whatever.
"I think he told you all of this to prepare you. Because there might be times when what I do will end up involving you." he said grimly.

"You don't have to lead. I'LL do that." he said firmly. He wasn't about to let her go down the "I'm not good enough" train. "You are my support. My mother didn't lead unless necessary. Mostly she was a calming person. She made sure that everything ran smoothly and people didn't get out of hand, emotionally."
Devon pulled her closer and rubbed her back soothingly. "If you are not strong enough, then I will be for you. If you are afraid, then remember I'm by your side. I'm not leaving you so easily. All you have to do if feel our connection to know that I mean that."
He didn't elaborate on the last question. Not yet. He wanted her to calm down first. He wished again that he had met her sooner. Then maybe he could have protected her. She was so fragile now. The tiniest things seemed to send her close to the edge. He wished he could erase everything that cause that.

Devon took a second to answer. "He most likely wanted you to be prepared should things come up." he said. "There might be a change that you could get drag into our business because of me. I wish it were otherwise, but it's not. I'm sorry about that Lark."

Devon grimaced. "There have been more reports of rouges lately. We're afraid that something is up. Something big. I'm going out with the pack tonight to get to the bottom of it. I just want to make sure that if their is a coup coming that you are not pulled into it because of me." he admitted.

"Hey, hey!" Devon said, shaking her a little before pulling her into his lap. "One one is coming for you. Not if I have anything to say about it. And it's just sightings, nothing in the immediate area." He rubbed her back gently trying to sooth her. "You're safe Lark, you don't need to be scared."

"Because they're disobeying our rules, coming into my territory and threatening me and mine. So I have everything to worry about." he said fiercely. "And you shouldn't be scared because you have be and our pack between you and them."
