I go to Manchester College in Indiana. It's funded by a liberal church organization and various world bodies. We're famous for producing one General Secretary of the UN, some famous chemists, and being the #3 accounting school in the nation. Despite that I'm a History and Economics Major (with special emphasis on macropolicy and labor economics).

Indiana is also the home base of the KKK, and some of their members reside in and around the greater Wabash County area (where the college, and my home town as I commute, are situated).

Basically what happened last year, is the school's GSA had a little booth with a gay pride flag flying. And some activists from off campus came and busted up the booth (which wasn't in use at night) and burned the flag, which hadn't been taken down.

Then they had a meeting this year (I didn't attend the final meeting as I had class, but I had a proxy there) where they were screening folks to let in, asking if you were gay or an ally. This particular gentlemen (who my comrade was suspicious of to begin with, we communists can sniff out people like that perhaps because this particular comrade is paranoid of the feds) he declared himself an ally. Then mostly homosexual kids got up can talked about what had happened in their life, how good the GSA made them feel etc. Then my comrade spoke. And lastly this gentlemen gets up, declares that he drove 2 hours to get to this meeting... And promptley began using all sorts of slurs, screaming etc, explaining how everybody in the room was going to hell etc, etc. Somebody went outside and hit one of the "emergency" buttons outside of where they were meeting, and campus security had to remove him.

But besides outside influences, there aren't any people like that actually on campus, it's generally people who live around here. We also have an openly gay professor (lesbian) and if you go to her office she has a whole wall full of pamphlets for allies and homosexuals (she's also the supervisor of the GSA) and her own little library. And her office's sitting area (at funchester as we all call it, every office has a well decorated sitting room for each professors set of offices or office) has tons of posters and things in it.

I'm still mystified as to how a guy that lives 2 hours away found out about it lol. Informer network? That's scary for me as folks of that type tend to hate communists just as much as noneuropean racial groups and homosexuals.

Wikipedia says my college is called""Home of Lesbians in Massachusetts", by detractors and supporters, and prides itself on having an open and diverse culture."

We have this party called celebration every year which honors the queer students and EVERYONE goes.

The conservative students are so unnoticed that they are the ones who need a coming out day. There are multiple gay clubs on campus but you don't even need to go to one to find other lesbian students.

Northampton. Smith College. It's oodles of fun. Mount Holyoke is also and all girl's school that's nearby. Did I just say oodles?

Today is one of the rare days I wish I was a really butch lesbian... we are taking shifts in my dorm moving stuff from the attic to the basement and we were allowed to take things that no one had claimed and there was this really nice book case and I had to move it up from the basement many flights of stairs to get it to my room.
