That is very exciting. I can see myself being very smug knowing an author. (insert smug face here)
My schedule is weird this week. I don't have 2 days off in a row, so no painting for me. Next week though I ended up with 4 days off. I took an evening and a day for Harry Potter, but they gave me both off. So 4 days for me. I hope I get some painting done.

I started the painting for my boyfriend today (only about two months late for his birthday sweatdrop ). It has a watercolour background of a field with an evening-coloured sky. This is the biggest canvas I have ever painted on...it's too big for my easel!!

OK More detail please! How big is this canvas? What will be in the foreground? Will it all be watercolor??? What kind of style do you paint in?
I got a new canvas yesterday, it was a gift. I can't wait to start something on it. Its big canvas. I like big canvases.
How is the book coming along?

@Caustic: I too want to know more details about your painting. One of my best friends is an artist, and while I don't draw or paint, I find the process fascinating.
@Love to Paint: It's coming along nicely. My bf bought me a pair of studio headphones so I can listen to music and he can play games or watch tv, and we don't interrupt each other, hehe. They're not high end my any stretch of the imagination, but they work well enough for the job. I've actually gotten more done in the past few days-week than I've done in the last year, and it feels good. I hope I can keep this pace up, it's very refreshing. smile

Got about eight pages done today, and I think that's it. I'm actually exhausted from writing on and off all day long, I can't force any more out. There's always tomorrow though. smile

The canvas is 100cm x 70cm. Probably not as big as what you've worked on Love to Paint, but it's pretty big for me considering I usually use much smaller canvases. In the foreground will be an image of my boyfriend, but because I can't draw (or paint humans) to save my life I have turned him into a dragon (that's his nickname by the way). I love painting and sketching dragons. smile Only the background will be in watercolour, I plan on painting the dragon itself in acrylic.
I've discovered a neat little trick where I can mix gold or silver into a paint instead of white or yellow and it will become a lovely metallic colour.
I don't acually paint in any specific style...I guess I just make it up as I go along.

@ Caustic. It sounds great! I haven't taken the plastic off my canvas yet. Its 914mm x 1219mm or 36 x 48 for those of us in the states or 1 yard x 1 1/2 yards for those of us who work at Jo Ann's (That's our local fabric and crafts store) Will it eventually be posted somewhere where we can see it?
@entervixen That is SO sweet!!! I love presents that have that sort of thought behind them. Sounds like you are very lucky.

Aww thank you. smile I like to think I am, he is a very sweet guy. We have our share of problems, and sometimes we fight, but we're able to get past those easily enough.
And Caustic, it sounds like it's going to be a lovely painting. I would love to see it as well. smile

Wouldn't surprise me if the number has popped up before...
The painting should be done in a couple of weeks...maybe a little less if I work really hard on it.

Just recently I came across my old sketch pad with my doodles and practice drawings in it, it made me wonder why I gave up drawing in the first place. Oh right, my ex-gf is a b***h, that's why. Maybe I'll try my hand at arting again. Now that I'm surrounded by artists it seems like fun again. 3nodding
