however my army list excels not by engaging in close combat, but rather by startng units pinned, in reserves, or at lower numbers than planned by the other player.
as for all eldar being psykers, then wouldnt it go to reason that they can employ a sniper that has developed his psychic abilities to best help in his field with the unit? Like a sniper who learned how to double tap his sniper, or one so accurate that he ignores cover?

That would be a plausible theory, though in most cases, The Eldar has to train for Decades to Learn to properly focus their Psychic Power for Battle. In an old Excerpt From Eldar Fluff, EveryDay Life is a different matter, and Eldar can make Farming Easy and Fun, since all that they would need to do to make the Fruit or Vegetables Appropriate for Eating, is to sing to the Fruit and Vegetables, instead of doing the toiling in the fields type stuff. razz **

If snipers are independant they should get the loose formation special rule. A squad of snipers wouldnt need to be within 2 inches of another model in the unit.

however it was stated that snipers dont need leaders because they are independant. if they do not need a leader, then they should be fielded as units that dont need to be within 2 inches of each other.

This must be a special rule for some other race, because it doesn't apply to Eldar. Besides, 20 individual snipers for 1 troop choice is quite cheesy.

No, it's not. It's 3-20. I have played Eldar for almost 2 years, and have their codex in front of me. It's 3-20.

Are we talking about the normal Eldar codex or the Craftworld Eldar codex. That might help a lot.

I just gave up on Rangers entirely. 6 Striking Scorpions and an Exarch are more than enough to handle most mon-keigh, orks, Tau, and insome cases Tyranidsand Necrons.

Talking of Tyranids...
I've been fighting battle after battle with a friend of mine, me as Eldar and him as Tyranids, and I've only ever won once by a mixture of incompetance on his part and good luck on mine. sweatdrop
He just charges a whole bunch of gaunts towards my Guardians - once he gets into combat, I can't do anything but let my guardians get slaughtered (you can't shoot into combats).
Once he's dealt with them, he just branches off them onto my other units in the area and destroys them.
Is there a close combat squad I can use for counter charging which is effective against the Tyranid hordes?
