Kestin, because I think it was in my thread, I take full responsibility for it
Quite frankly, we must all come to a realization that our beliefs come from our experiences.
I won't lie about this, but when I first came here, I thought of this place as disposable to me, a place where I could try new things out that would just make me better in Real Life, then eventually throw it all out.
Oh how wrong I was, and I am quite glad I am wrong.
However, the greater lesson I took from this (besides that there are good people out there in the internet, and internet friends are much like real friends) is that we only learn through our experiences. Whether it's our parents just telling us, to seeing things on media, to actually experiencing something, these events directly influence our view on the world. Now, with the stereotypes of the internet being a dangerous place (which it is), not trusting anyone, and don't get too close, I can honestly say I understand where that person was coming from.
Now, quite honestly, if that person believes it so, and believes it fervently, I don't understand why he'd even be one an online forum. Curiosity? Trying something out? The person's obviously not trying to make new friends, for that person believes it is impossible. So, quite honestly, it falls in the area of Fridge Logic (i htink) of why someone who WOULD state something like that would say it in an area, where quite frankly, almost everyone DOES consider the people here with much importance, and cherish them as real life friends. Not to mention that said person would have had to seek us out somehow, and it isn't a random encounter. Maybe that person just wants to have fun in zOMG by himself and found him/herself wandering here. Who knows
Kestin, I know that it's infuriating when people can be so insensitive, but right now we cannot change that. Look at the radicals, they call for blood of people, and most people just want them dead, or at least removed. But, we cannot do anything about that. Somewhere in their upbringing they had their crazy notions, and that is something we cannot change.
At least without angering a whole lot of other people.
Lots of people don't have manners, ESPECIALLY on the internet, where it's easier to just be a talking head. I mean, in Real Life you find people constantly ostracizing people, and beating them up. Now, on the internet it's hard to remember that behind their avatar, behind their username, there's a PERSON. This is why there are so many flame wars, so much hatred on the internet. Because they do not recognize that they are arguing with PEOPLE, and it's illustrated very well
HERE.
To wrap it up, although it's 70% just the person being a b***h, there is still that 5% part of the person's upbringing, and 25% of them knowing they can get away with it AND the no need to acknowledge they are talking to other HUMANS.
Don't take it too personally man, even though your view is TOTALLY valid.
