Magnus paled as well.
"How the hell did you get the Sacred Stone!?" said Magnus as Schwarz took it out of his pocket. Was it possible they went to the hidden village of the elves and took it. Thought Magnus suddenly.

((Hey, I was finishing up THIS entry about how Oscuro investigating the crystal. D: ))

"Hmm?" Oscuro's pointed ears twitched and her expression changed from venomous to curious in a split second as she sensed something in the crystal that Schwarz procured behind her. She spun around on her heel to face him, her attention immediately taken off Kruhk. She carefully picked up the crystal from his hand with her thumb and index finger, holding it up to her eyes and examining it thoroughly.

"Well I'll be. What 'sacred stone' are you talking about, Magnus? There's just a soul hiding away in here. This one's from a body that's been long dead, actually. How could I miss---ah, I see. My senses are more attuned to the living than the dead." She raised her eyebrow in a suspicious look at Schwarz, but a devious grin spread across her face once more. She contemplated asking Schwarz how he came across this, but also noticed that Oro was looking nervous and pale...

"Oh, come now," Chiaro interrupted her thoughts, smirking and folding her arms, "We wanted the same courtesy, why not give them that much?"

Aw, man. I wanted payback.

"Well, you can at least ask them in private later. After getting us exposed, they owe us that much. An eye for an eye, right?"

It would be more proportionate if I expose them in front of everyone.

"Oscuro."

...Fine.

Deciding not to question him after all, she brought the crystal under her nose to get a better whiff. She also began to speak to it in a teasing, mischievous tone. "I get it now. You're afraid of Martel's judgment. You know where you are going. So you're clinging to whatever you can to avoid meeting her." She strongly sniffed the crystal again. "Figures I'd find you in the color green. Your sin is greed---accumulation of wealth to the point of murder. Murder of your superiors, murder of children. Not even the slightest bit of remorse for any of it. Well, I think you might like the pit of my stomach rather than where you're supposed to go. Although, it won't matter much after a couple of hours or so."

She now placed the crystal in the center of her other palm and stared intensely at it, her eyes beginning to glow a bright yellow. After a few seconds, the crystal's glow began to die down as a greenish flamelike essence that gave off black smoke arose from it---this was the soul hidden within the crystal. The essence grew until it was roughly about the size of an apple. Oscuro then brought her lips closer to it and sucked it up.

After she swallowed up the last of it, she licked her lips with a forked tongue. "Well, that one had a rich flavor---pun not intended," she concluded with a chuckle, "Thank you, Schwarz." She made a slight bow of gratitude.

Sheena was getting overwhelmed by the flood of information that the two boys who tagged along were binging in, along with Oscuro. "W-well. Isnt there a way you can avoid eating their souls? They may have wronged, but.. everyone deserves a chance! Everyone can change, and we can save.. everyone." She looked down. She knew she was using his words, and she realized how much he had changed her during that journey. Saving everyone. She had been taught that there was always a sacrifice, someone who couldnt be saved at all. Then he came along, and showed everyone that he could change something that seemed unchangeable. He saved lives, and continued to find a way to keep helping the world. Where he was now, Sheena didnt know.

"Ahh, don't mention it. It's not often that I meet someone so entwined darkness," He smiled happy that she seemed somewhat pleased with his gesture, he then looked towards Sheena, "but, your right, some people do deserve a second chance, but let me ask you this, what happens if they never take that second chance? What if the truly loath everything and everyone? What if the evil was embedded into the very existence, their soul? Even in death, thoughs feelings can take over, consuming a soul that was once only tainted and not totally taken over," Schwarz stared up into the sky slightly smiling. His smile seemed somewhat subdude compared to previous one, almost as if he had reached an inner peace, "even in death, they may never give into the light either..." Shwarz contiued to look into the sky.
Shut up! Shut up!! Shut up!!! Please! Don't say another word! Oro couldn't find himself able to speak, all these words he thought stayed dorment, not able to make it through his lips. He whipped the sweat away from his brow. He looked at his hand and noticed it was shaking slightly.

(umm... You think Schwarz went too deep into a philosophical discussion? sweatdrop )

Sheena answered flatly and simply. "That is a risk we have to take." She sighed, feeling like he didnt care about those people. "Most may be evil, and may never change, but if we can, we should try to save those we can. I dont believe that there is a person who will never turn to the light. If we find the right way, everyone can be saved." She said, with a tone of finality. She sighed, holding her forhead. "The only way I wouldnt stop you is if you have to eat to live." She said after a moment.

((Perhaps, but it's a nice little surprise. Such words from a character you least expect---like the time Raine was surprised Lloyd used the word "avaricious" correctly. rofl ))

Oscuro had been smiling amusedly and rubbing her chin the entire time Schwarz was speaking. Such insight! "Why, those philosophies are similar to that of Master Eloysio's! Better to erase such evil from existence than to allow them opportunity to reincarnate and commit the same horrors against humanity...taking more lives."

She turned to Sheena. "But there are, Sheena. You can't speak for everyone. Such a decision is theirs to make, and theirs alone. I've existed for a few millennia; I really have found those who refuse to turn to the light.

I don't devour souls haphazardly, I examine them first, as you've seen. And the severity of their sins is actually just a part that decides whether I consume them or not. As I've said, I can't stomach the tiniest bit of good that is left in a person. So the one thing I was trained to look for, that saves them from my appetite is...remorse. Atonement. A want to change. An understanding for what they've done to others, and genuine regret for it. Just the slightest bit is a signal that some good remains in that soul. They are the 'saved'; they've secured their second chance.

But believe it or not, this sense of remorse is totally absent in some. They know what they've done is wrong. They don't care. Given a second life, they would commit their crimes all over again simply because it brings them benefit or pleasure. They don't desire to change anytime soon. Why give them chances when they will surely only bring despair to future generations? How many more will have to suffer just for that hope that they would change, when they apparently won't?

Eh, maybe it would all sound more reassuring that compared to the number of all the souls in the world, there are actually a very low percentage that are evil through and through. And I don't devour souls just for enjoyment. I don't know if you're aware of this, but our manifestations drain energy from Azriel. When we end them, Azriel is left very exhausted. If there is an opportunity to eat, I should take it, for it helps replenish this energy and keeps her from feeling so fatigued."

She let out a sigh when she was through explaining, and began to absently twist some of her hair around her finger. She glanced around at the others and noticed Oro was practically shivering. She smirked and asked, "Say...what's the matter, Oro?"

Chiaro facepalmed hard once more. "OSCURO!"

OH NO! thought Oro, he needed a plan and he needed it fast at that. He had a few options; one tell the truth, two lie, three act like nothing happened, or four a combination of them. He straightened up and look dignified, "I'm sorry such gems like the one my brother pulled out tend to be found in hoards, and where there is a number great enough, trouble like you can only imagine." Oro grabbed Schwarz by the collar and looked him straight in the eye, "so the next time you find one of those things come straight to me. Got it?" What he said wasn't a complete truth, he left out some details, but it was the truth none the less.
Schwarz nodded to his twin wildly, judging by the way Oro was acting Schwarz had done a bit to much talking.

A man with brown hair was sitting on a building near by. He was in a bit of a predicament. "That is one interesting piece of detail." He jumped down and landed quietly behind the group, placing a hand on his blades hilt, and running a finger through his hair.. He wore leather armor over a thin piece of custom chainmail, with a jagged blade to his side. "Now after hearing all of that, how am I suppose to turn you into the king." He tilted his head and scratched it as if in thought.

Sheena looked down. Part of her believed that Oscuro was right. Age and wisdom buffering her words. However, part of her saw Oscuro as a never learning fool. A being who had seen the bad to long, and had forgotten that there was always a chance. Nothing was impossible. Sheena was pretty sure part of her thinking was influenced by him. She used to think like that, Like Oscuro, always looking down, obeying mindlessly, and the only purpose keeping her fighting was a chance to redeem herself for her mistakes, and her only good friend. The chosens group had beaten her over and over again, relying on each other to beat her down over and over, and despite all the wins, and the near deaths, they showed compassion to her and helped her, even when she was the bad one. She may not have been as bad as those in the prisons, but Sheena felt she could speak for everyone. It was just a matter of helping them to speak for themselves. Sheena shook her head, confused, her head aching at the moment from the conflict. She sighed, gazing at the ground, and then looking back up at Oscuro. "Your wrong." Oscuro almost reminded her of Origin. Losing her faith in humanity. She wondered if she could convince Oscuro, or.. if somehow this would grow into a fight.

Hearing the voice behind them, Magnus turned around to see the man with brown hair.
"And just who may I ask are you?" said Magnus with ample curiosity. This person had a strange air to him, though he couldn't tell whether is intent was good or evil. Either way he couldn't be good news. He wouldn't attack until he new what the newcomer was intending to do.

"Ah, my name is Cinkel and Malphas and I'm in a predicament." Cinkel stretched his arms forward and yawned. He then returned to his thinking position, swaying from leaning on one foot to the other.

"Interesting and what kind of predicament would that be?" said Magnus kindly. If possible he would like to help this man if he could. Though something about him was unsettling. For one why would he have two names?
PostPosted: Sat Sep 19, 2009 3:36 pm

"Well, let's see." He points to Oscuro, "The king was told that the usual form you take was possessed by you, who is thought to be a demon." He stretches and yawns, "If there were any signs of possession, I were to apprehend her and take her to His Majesty. Alas, after all that has happened and all that I heard, I'm not sure that is the right thing to do. She doesn't even look like any demon I've seen."
Why did you even except such a job in the first place?
Curiosity.
