Koras beamed happily and kept humming as the egg kept glowing and "singing".
Cadaver stared at the egg a moment before turning to Nami. "Uh, is that normal egg behavior?"

Koras reluctantly nodded, stopping humming. He then blinked, seeming to notice something - or rather, a lack of something - and looked around, puzzled.
Cadaver blinked, frowning slightly. "Something the matter?'
Koras's answer was to do a quick head count, frowning as he came up one head short; apparently, a certain mishmash hybrid was missing.

Sure enough, Chimera had wandered off and was approaching the shack mentioned at a leisurely pace... at least until he came across the Cranidos with a drill that had been mentioned earlier, though if you looked closely, you'd see that it also seemed to have some sort of metal plating on its knees.
Cadaver groaned in exasperation in reply. "Come on guys, let's go get him."

The Cranidos retaliated by suddenly becoming a whirl of gray and silver and blue, rocketing straight through the blast of flame drill-first and heading straight for Nami with surprising speed for a Cranidos...
...only for him to be knocked off-course by a strange metal rod in the shape of a bone. It then whirled around, only to be smoothly caught by a Cubone with skull made of metal.
Cadaver blinked several times as he watched the Cubone walk over to the Cranidos (that now had its drill-head stuck in a tree) and... wait, was it scolding the Rock-type? That certainly seemed to be the case, if the way the little guy was whacking the Pokémon/machine hybrid with its club lightly but relentlessly was any indication. His confusion only increased when he saw a Golduck with some sort of small technological contraption where the jewel in its head would normally be join them, starting to try and pull the Cranidos out of the tree. "...Am I the only one confused as all hell at the moment? Where are all the cyborg Pokémon coming from?"
Koras stared in similar baffled confusion before giving up on trying to understand it and hurrying over to Lilian, getting out the first-aid kit from his backpack and starting to tend to the wound.

Koras gave his lover a reassuring little smile.
Cadaver shrugged. "Yeah, definitely a good question... unfortunately, I don't have any good answers," he freely admitted.
However, the Golduck seemed to hear Lilian's question and glanced over. With one last yank, it pulled the Cranidos out of the tree before walking over to Lilian and gently putting one webbed hand to her forehead, images starting to flash across her mind's eye:
A Psyduck, in perpetual pain, even more so than most Psyduck... then a strange young man with goggles, kind, if a little odd, giving the Psyduck a strange metal hat that made the pain stop and gave the power of electricity...
A Cranidos caught in what appeared to be a trap set by poachers with a skull and legs shattered beyond repair... the young man with goggles not only helped him, but made him better, stronger, made it so that he would be able to ram through almost anything with a head like the digging-things humans made and legs that were far faster and stronger than before...
A Cubone, mourning over the skull-helmet and bone that broke in a fight... the exact same young man, giving him a new metal skull-helmet and a new bone with hidden blades...
Finally, a strange being that was neither human nor Pokémon, but rather a Chimera of both, visiting the small shack in which the goggle-human lived...
The Golduck then removed its hand from her forehead before heading back to the Cranidos and picking it up, starting to walk to the shack.

They soon reached the shack, where, sure enough, Chimera was watching a young man with goggles carefully put the finishing touches on a Raticate's steel jaws and teeth... teeth that looked like they belonged on a Sharpedo. "All right, all done. Now, could you please not gnaw on the explosives again? You know what that does to your mouth, and I can only replace your jaws so many times before I run out of materials with which to do so... though come to think of it, I DO have a new Cyber-Jaws model in the works... but the point remains, no chewing on explosives," the young man lectured the little rodent Pokémon sternly; the little guy was currently sitting on a . He then noticed the Raticate staring at something behind him and turned, beaming when he saw the group. "Oh, visitors! Welcome to Simon's Shack of Science! We don't just heal Pokémon - we heal them with SCIENCE!"
Cadaver stared, obviously deciding that, nice guy or not, this Simon fellow was more than a little off his rocker. Koras was too busy worrying over Lilian and being an overprotective boyfriend to form any opinions of his own about the young man.
The Golduck just rolled his eyes in tolerant amusement, obviously used to Simon's little quirks, before placing the Cranidos down nearby and waddling over to Chimera to say hi.

"Well, I have absolutely no idea who that is, but if I ever meet her, I'll be sure to see if she likes SCIENCE!" Simon declared cheerfully.
Cadaver glanced over and noticed the Golduck putting the Cranidos in a Pokéball and the Raticate going into a similar Pokéball. "So then I take it all these Pokémon are yours?" he questioned the young man.
Simon beamed and nodded. "Yep; they seemed to take to me rather quickly once I healed them with SCIENCE! Excedrin there just so happens to be my first Pokémon - and my very first venture into biotechnology! It turned out that that headache of his was due to a buildup of psychic energy; however, due to how much pain he was in, he couldn't concentrate hard enough to use it, thus causing an even larger buildup in psychic energy - a rather vicious cycle. So I made him a little helmet that only syphoned off some of that psychic energy into electrical energy and stored it for Electric-type attacks and boosts in power and speed. I also inadvertently made him a Water/Electric type once he evolved and the helmet integrated with his DNA, as opposed to the usual pure Water typing most Golduck have, all thanks to SCIENCE!"
That just got him a blank stare from Koras and Cadaver, who hadn't followed the explanation at all, and an understanding nod from Chimera, who had a Slowking brain to help him process the information. After a moment, Cadaver gave up trying to process what Simon had said, instead asking, "Do you really have to shout every time you say 'science'?"
"As a matter of fact, yes; now hold still so I can scan you, I'm getting some interesting paranormal readings from you," Simon informed the Ghost-type hybrid cheerfully, holding up a strange scanning device. "Curious... the scanner seems to be under the impression that you're a hybrid of every Ghost-type in existence... were you by any chance raised by ghosts?" he asked with interest.
