Flσσdclαn Wαrríσr ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan temporary camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Smokewing > Lynxstar > Sunshade ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Leafdance's ears perked at the sound of her new name, her heart still quickening with the newness of it. But to her surprise it was the she cat of few words Smokewing who'd spoken it. Leafdance was a little wary but approached one of her newer clanmates regardless. In truth they had been clanmates before in DawnClan, where Smokewing and her brother had been warriors while she'd been Stormstar's apprentice. The memory sent chills up her spine but she couldn't recall Smokewing having treated her with any special prejudice. I guess it doesn't count if you're just standoffish to everyone in general. It's not like she treated me any differently in that regard. With this logic the newest warrior felt inclined to like the other she cat. Then to her shock, Smokewing actually congratulated her. She blinked, not sure just how to react. "...T-thanks. That means a lot coming from you." The little tabby dipped her head to the more senior warrior as Smokewing took her leave.
Leafdance flicked an ear as someone else approached her. Lynxstar. The she cat nodded eagerly at her leader's instructions before taking her post. Thank you, StarClan, for this night, for this name, and for my clan. The wind buffeted her fur but she held her place and kept a wary eye on the surrounding area. She wouldn't let any cat harm her new family tonight. My family. What a beautiful thought. She wrapped her tail around her paws at this, letting the warmth of belonging chase away the chill of the night.
Flσσdclαn Dєputч ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan temporary camp > FloodClan territory ᴡɪᴛʜxx Lavendersky and Hazeltail > Hazeltail, Skychase, Stardancer and Leafdance > Lynxstar ᴏᴏᴄxx Turning over to t minus two days until the Gathering! : D xxx◢ Sunshade purred along with Lavendersky's quip. She had a good attitude, and he appreciated the lightheartedness she brought to his normally heavy thoughts. There were some things that were harder to escape than others and Sunshade knew that it would take more than a good-humoured comment to remedy that. That said, those worries would still be there in the morning, and he was more than happy to lay them aside for the warmth of his clanmate and the safety of this hollow, if only just for tonight.
The golden deputy was just starting to let the tiredness of his body win out when a familiar sandy warrior approached him. Sunshade raised his head, not seeming annoyed in the slightest at the warrior's inquiry. Though he purred a little at his eagerness. "To have a clan of cats as willing to serve it as you, Hazeltail, would be a blessing from StarClan." The deputy eyed the warriors uneven gait. "Though you are not doing your clan any favours by not taking care of yourself. There will be plenty to do come morning, but for now I want you to see Frogleap about those paws, get something to eat and rest up. And that's an order." Though Sunshade's words were formal his gaze was kind. He appreciated Hazeltail, and would very much need his help in the morning for the task Lynxstar had given him.
Watching the warrior's retreating form, Sunshade felt a shiver run down his spine. He whirled his gaze around to somewhere in the gorse that surrounded the hollow. I felt... something. He stared into the foliage for a second more before dismissing it. You're being paranoid again, mousebrain. He scanned the hollow once more before settling back down. This night would be a cold one, hopefully the morning would be kinder.
Sunshade opened his eyes as the sun began to peek from the horizon, confused at first to wake beneath the open sky. Then the events of yesterday rolled over in his mind and he remembered where they were. Getting to his paws, he was grateful that they were stiff but not as sore as they had been the night before. But if he could get his paws on some herbs for them later he would be glad for them. He padded over and nudged awake Skychase, Stardancer and Hazeltail. "Sorry to wake you so early but we have something urgent that needs to be done. Follow me, I'll explain outside." Leading them carefully past their sleeping clanmates Sunshade approached the place Leafdance sat on watch.
And almost got his ears clawed off. Sunshade was barely awake himself and just managed to duck a swipe from the hissing she cat. She recognized him a beat later and regret and embarrassment coloured her expression. Sunshade purred "It's alright, you sat your vigil and protected your clan. You have nothing to be embarrassed about." The she cat seemed somewhat comforted by this. "You've fulfilled your duty, Leafdance. I hereby relieve you of your silent vigil. Go get some rest." The tom touched his nose to her forehead. "Thank you, Sunshade." He watched the she cat claim one of the nests of the warriors he'd just called before padding out of the makeshift gorse tunnel.
"So by the coziness of last night's stay, you are probably all aware of our most urgent clan need." Sunshade stood in the middle of a clearing, addressing the warriors he'd collected. "So that's our task. We're to find a place a good distance from Dawn or DuskClan camps that can house our entire clan and then some. Remember it needs to be near a water source, but also if possible provide some kind of natural barrier from predators but also from other clans." Meeting the eyes of each of his warriors he weighed his next words carefully. "Stardancer, take north, Skychase south. Hazeltail will go east and I will search the west. Try to be back at camp by sunhigh. Even if you haven't found a place you're sure of, I want to hear all the possibilities. Tread carefully, warriors. Your safety comes first before our new camp." With this, Sunshade took off in the direction he'd stated, asking StarClan to guide their paws.
"Foxdung!" Sunshade took off running as the hollow he'd been exploring was home to a not so friendly badger. It was a small one but he made a mental note to mention it to Lynxstar. After having given that particular hollow a wide berth he eyed the position of the sun. It'll be sunhigh soon, better head back now. Hopefully the others have had better luck. The big golden tom was just about to turn back when something caught his eye. "Dock leaves!" The former medicine cat apprentice approached the plant, giving it a cursory sniff to confirm. There weren't many herbs he was still familiar with. But this one had remained in his memory because of how often they'd needed it. Between two major journeys as a medicine cat apprentice there had been plenty of sore pads to treat.
Bending to pick the low growing plant, Sunshade neatly cut the leaves from their stems. I wonder if there's more growing nearby. Ducking beneath the overhanging foliage Sunshade made a surprised noise as his paw was met with empty air. Overbalancing, Sunshade scrambled to regain his footing as he stopped just shy of plunging headlong into a clearing several feet below. Sighing with relief he stepped back, surveying what could have been the last place he'd ever visit in this life. Admittedly not a bad place though. Has a nice view. The longer he stared into the clearing below the more homey it seemed to feel. He could almost see warriors using the gently sloping ramp to return from a patrol, and the high stone cliffs were a natural protection and easily fortified. They were also pockmarked with with various caves that could be used for dens if they weren't inhabited. Curious, Sunshade dropped a stone into the clearing and nothing came out to investigate. This could be what FloodClan needs. Sunshade eyed the small stream that cut through the clearing and seemed to run underground. It looked drinkable, and crossable by way of a natural land bridge. Getting to his feet, Sunshade made his way down to investigate.
It was just passed sunhigh when Sunshade returned with a bundle of dock leaves. Laying them on the pile of Frogleap's herbs he padded up to Lynxstar. "Have Hazeltail and the others returned yet? There's a place I've found that I think will be a good fit. It's west of here, near the edge of the twoleg dens. There's a grumpy little badger in a hollow in the vicinity, but it's a safe distance from this place so it shouldn't be a problem unless some cat sets out to provoke it."

Having spent the night surrounded by his friends, Nightpaw rested well. Even though they had no actual den or real nests to call their own, having his usual companions plus Stonepaw around him kept him warm. He did miss having Leafpa- Leafdance's scent in his nose through the night, but it was nothing he wouldn't get used to. Besides, her vigil meant she had to be a lot worse off than he was. At least he had been warm.
He was woken by his clan-mates stirring, blinking away the dim light of the morning. Blearily lifting his head, he took the time to note that his mentor's spot was empty. He was a little disappointed that he hadn't been woken to help tend whatever it was Sunshade had gotten off too.
He was finally moved to getting up himself as his fellow apprentices went their separate ways. He stretched slowly, glancing around, before finally noticing Lavendersky gesturing him over with her tail.
--~--
Sleeping next to Sunshade had been about as pleasant as all her silly imaginings might have made it seem. She woke when he did, his shifting allowing just enough cold access to her spine to have her waking. She didn't shift as he padded away for a moment considering just going back to sleep. It soon became apparent that her mind wasn't going to allow that, so instead she sat up, hissing quietly to herself at the stiffness in her joints. Forgoing a nest the night before had not been her best idea, the cold of the ground sucking enough warmth from her joints to have old aches from the monster attack to rise to the forefront.
Determined to try and work her muscles loose again, she began to give herself as through a groom as she could manage. It was a little disappointing, a large portion of her back and hind legs remaining ruffled. She sighed at herself, moving carefully to stretch her limbs as best she could. Thankfully, she was mostly just in pain; she had had her legs and back lock on her before, leaving her unable to move for a while. At least she seemed to have escaped that for now, though it put the thought in her head that she would need to sleep in a proper nest for the next night. Seeing Lynxstar also stirring, she padded over to the tom, asking if she could steal Nightpaw for hunting, since his mentor was otherwise occupied. He agreed, suggesting she take Dewheart along. Lavendersky nodded, waking the other warrior tom, and when she saw Nightpaw wake, gesturing him over with her tail.
"Well, let's get going then. After a day like yesterday the clan is sure to be hungry." She mewed, keeping her tone light as she lead her small patrol out of camp, heading into the two-leg dens to search out prey.
Hunting was... Not a successful endeavor, at least in the dens. It seemed the noise of the fallen tree had startled most of the prey away. What they did find was at the edges of the rows of dens, as far as possible as one could get from where their camp had once been. Even then, between the three cats, all they had managed was a robin and a mouse. It was nearly sun-high by the time the trio returned, weary from the long trek.
"Hunting didn't go well, at least for us. I think the tree falling scared all the prey away." Lavendersky confessed as she approached her leader, feeling guilty for the concern that overtook his features before he could school them.
--~--
Lynxstar had woken not long after dawn, the soft squeaks of his kits and Cloverstream's gentle coos to soothe them pulling him from the depths. He had spent most of the night re-living the day before, his mind merrily telling him all the ways it could, and should, have gone wrong. He was grateful, in a way, to wake to the reality. A temporary camp, but his clan and mate and kits safe and sound. What more could he truly ask for?
Looking about, he saw that Sunshade had already seen to the mission he'd given the tom the night before. He couldn't help but feel grateful for the cats, even if he did have some pity for Skychase, who had gotten in late the night before. He rose to his own pads, wincing a bit as the pressure from the previous evening's wounds shot pain up his legs. That was not going to be fun to pad around with all day.
When Lavendersky approached him to mention a hunt, he was grateful to send her away with the cats she'd requested. Hopefully, they would bring back a good amount of prey. But that, of course, left a dawn patrol that needed arranging. Knowing Leafdance had probably only just finished her vigil, Lynxstar padded over to Ripplepool, pawing him lightly in the shoulder. The warrior stirred after a moment.
"Take Smokewing, Rosepaw, Grasspaw, and Fernpaw out for the dawn patrol, please?" Lynxstar mewed. Ripplepool nodded, before padding to wake the apprentices, and then Smokewing. With patrols settled, Lynxstar was glad to be able to worry a little less for now. He glanced for Frogleap, and once he saw the tom had woken as well, padded over to his medicine cat.
"If you need any extra paws today, feel free to take Blackpaw, Hawkpaw, or Owlpaw. And let me know if I can do anything to help." He mewed. When it seemed he was dismissed from the conversation, Lynxstar found himself suddenly stuck. He couldn't just pad away from camp - they had few enough warriors where he wanted to hang around in case the camp needed defending. A bit frustrated with his own position, he moved to an out of the way point of the hollow, taking the time to groom his pelt, all while trying to think of ways to re-enforce their temporary camp if they were forced to remain here longer than a few sunrises.
By the time Lavendersky returned, he had enough of a plan in his head where he felt a bit more comfortable. He tried not to outwardly show his disappointment when he saw what the cats had carried back, and when he heard his warrior's report. He mewed a quiet thanks for her attempt, noting to send any other cats out hunting away from the two-leg dens. Still, he mewed his thanks to her, pleased when Nightpaw delivered the robin right to Cloverstream.
He perked up a little when Sunshade's group of cats returned to camp, though his mood dipped when they hadn't found much else suitable for their needs. Something nagged in the back of him mind, warning him of failure. Surely, this was StarClan punishing them for breaking away? A clan of traitors, loosing the only camp they had, and now unable to find one more suitable? He tried to shake the thought away, grateful for Sunshade's return providing a welcome distraction.
"Yes, they've returned, but didn't find much that sounded like it would make a good full time camp. As for the badger, if the camp is good we can always send a few warriors to drive it away before it grows too large. Let's take a patrol to check out this camp." He mewed, gesturing for Leafdance to join them with a flick of his ears, following Sunshade out of the camp.
The location Sunshade lead them to nearly sucked the breath from Lynxstar's chest - it was everything he could have hoped for. He padded down the ramp slowly, noting the slope was gentle enough to even allow for the elders and queens heavy with kits to enter and exit with ease if necessary. Opening his mouth to draw in scents, he was pleased that the most he could find was the scent of stale cat, probably a rogue who had spent the night more than a few sunrises before. He stuck his head in a few of the crevices - they would need some expanding, but they would serve well as dens for the clans.
"StarClan must have sent you to this place, Sunshade, it's perfect!" Lynxstar finally purred, relief flooding his chest as he sent a silent prayer of thanks to their ancestors. This had to mean that there was hope for them after all. He was glad to lead the way back to camp, waiting for the rest of their warriors to return eagerly.
--~--
Skychase had to admit, he was not the most excited cat to be prodded awake by Sunshade at dawn. After his late night waiting for Spidersilk, and the resulting panic attack she'd had, he'd been hoping to catch at least a little extra sleep. As it seemed he would have no such luck, he followed Sunshade out of the hollow and in to the early gray light of the day.
At the instruction to head south, Skychase was also pleased, and yet annoyed. Heading south at least took him away from Dawn and DuskClan, but it did also bring him right into the rows and rows of two-leg nests, which they now all surely agreed were too dangerous to risk.
By midday, he proved his assumption correct. He'd only really found two-leg dens, and while he searched his best, the spaces in between were all too small. In one locale he even found a sleeping monster, though it had been sitting a long time, if the thick layer of dust covering it were anything to go by. Alarmed and disheartened, he padded back into camp at the same time Stardancer did, both forced to report having found nothing, before they settled down together to rest for a spell and share tongues about the different things they had managed to spot on their respective explorations.
--~--
Ripplepool was grateful he hadn't swatted at the offending paw prodding his shoulder when he opened his eyes to find Lynxstar standing before him as opposed to his brother. He nodded at Lynxstar's request for him to take out the dawn patrol, rising to his paws and ruffling his fur out a bit, before rousing his apprentice, then Fernpaw and Grasspaw.
"Hey guys, Lynxstar wants us to go do the dawn patrol. Sound good?" He mewed, giving the apprentices a moment to wake while he padded over to Smokewing, gently mewing for her so as to hopefully not startle his new clan mate.
"Hey, Smokewing. Lynxstar wants you and I to lead the dawn patrol." When he was sure she was awake, he padded away, waiting for her and the apprentices at the opening of the hollow. Beneath his pads he could still feel the warmth where Leafdance had laid, and he couldn't help but pity her for having her vigil on such a cold night.
When everyone was ready, he lead the group out along the patrol route, pausing every once in a while to mark his scent. "At least the weather is a bit kinder then yesterday." He mewed conversationally, grateful for the lack of wind. It at least created the illusion of it being slightly warmer outside. And it helped that they were moving, getting their blood flowing so they could at least stay warmer then they might have been had they just stayed huddled up in camp.
Their patrol was thankfully quiet, though it probably had something to do with how they at least maintained their distance from the borders of the other territories, for now. What would happen after the next gathering could be a whole other story.
Padding back into camp, Ripplepool waved goodby to the others with his tail, telling Rosepaw to wait a moment, and then they would go out and practice some hunting. He offered Lynxstar a summary of their quiet morning, before leading Rosepaw back out into the cool air. Their hunt was successful, with a squirrel, jay, and a mouse caught by Rosepaw, and Ripplepool managing to bring a vole back to camp with them. It seemed the open fields to the east, for now, were still holding prey well, the nuts and berries the sparse trees dropped giving the prey a reason to hang around.
They padded back to camp, dropping their kill on the fresh-kill pile, before Ripplepool dismissed Rosepaw for the day so they could both take some time to rest.
--~--
Cloverstream woke slowly, whole body sore. At first, she couldn't quite recall why. Then, the previous day flooded her mind, and she looked over at her belly. Her two kits were curled against her still, kept nice and tightly to her side by her thick tail. For now they were sleeping, two tiny rises and falls as they breathed. She couldn't help but purr as she looked at them, relieved that they had made it through their first night with little fuss.
The day passed slowly for the queen as she watched the clan come and go, and the tense set of her mate's shoulders as he padded around, clearly fretting himself half to death. It was almost hard for her to believe that she had the easy job, caring for two kits who would soon be running her ragged. At least it wasn't the whole clan looking to her. She was almost relieved when Sunshade pulled Lynxstar out of camp for a bit - hopefully some fresh air would do him good. It also gave her time to really tuck into the robin Nightpaw gave her. She was surprisingly famished for a cat who had done nothing but lie with her kits and keep them warm all day.
It was just then that she heard a louder noise then before, and she glanced down at her belly to see two little pairs of eyes blinking up at her. A purr immediately burst from her chest at the sight - of course, just as she would have something to show her mate he padded away. Wasn't that always how it was?
"Good morning Chirpkit, Songkit." She spoke softly, delighting in the wonder in both her little one's faces as they got their very first look at the world around them.
"Hi momma." Songkit mewed, voice rough from lack of use. She leaved heavily against her as she did her best to look up and around, trying to take in every inch of the surrounding world.
"I thought everythin' would be darker. The colors are so pretty though!" Chirpkit mewed, taking a wobbly step forward, managing to keep his own weight on his paws. His little nose twitched wildly, clearly trying to take in all the scents of their new clan. Cloverstream kept them close, letting them take in as much of the sights as they could without letting them stray from her side. As each cat came and went, she explained who they were, and what role they played in the clan. Songkit, at least, seemed to listen. Chirpkit kept leaning forward, like he wanted to chase after them all.
When Lynxstar returned, she excitedly waved her mate over with her tail, grateful when she managed to divert his attention. She watched her mate's expression change with delight - the small shock at seeing their eyes open already, to the thrilled look he'd worn when she first told him she was carrying their little ones. He padded over, nuzzling each kit gently in turn.
"Look at you both with your eyes already open! What do you think so far?" Lynbxstar mewed, the whole of his attention on the two little ones, who had both managed to focus.
"Hi dad! It's so big!"
"And mom says we haven't even seen it all yet!" Lynxstar stayed a few moments, happily chatting with his kits. After a spell, he explained to them he had to go do his job as leader, but promised he would spend more time with them before they went to sleep. The kits let out some disappointed mews, so Cloverstream dismissed her mate before he could be suckered into caving to their demands.
--~--
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here for a clan meeting!" Lynxstar called, standing at the back of the hollow. He wathced as his clan gathered around, glad for their attention. Sometimes he still half-expected to be ignored on the occasions which he addressed them.
"Sunshade has found us a new location for our camp! We have some work to do when we get there - We'll need a hunting patrol lead away from the two-leg dens after we move. The tree falling scared away the prey there, and we still have mouths to feed. Anyone else who doesn't already have a task will be helping with building nests, so no cat has to go without tonight. We will begin migrating there now! Smokewing, Cedarmask - Help Frogleap and Stonepaw carry the supplies they've salvaged. Lavendersky, help Cloverstream with the kits! Sunshade, lead the way. Leafdance, stay here and wait for any of our clan mates who are out." He called, dismissing his clan with a dip of his head, before bounding back over to Cloverstream. He took Songkit while Lavendersky took Chirpkit, both kits pitting up a fuss once more until Cloverstream convinced them to settle. She, at least, seemed fine on her own legs this time. A little sore, but not unable to move.
When they arrived at the camp, Lynxstar helped Cloverstream pick a spot out of the way of where the working warriors would need to be. He and Lavendersky set the kits back at her side, before Laendersky bounded off to help build nests, and Lynxstar stepped away to help organize and start building himself.

⁙⁙ SMOKEWING ⁙⁙ FloodClan Warrior ⁙⁙The black and white she-cat still wasn't sure why she'd felt the need to congratulate the newly appointed warrior. It really wasn't any of her business. Smokewing's whiskers twitched, hoping that this little warrior wouldn't now think they were buddies. Ever since she left DawnClan, she had no desire to mingle with the other cats, feeling it unnecessary and even foolish if one put their trust in the wrong cat. Just as she'd done with her brother...Smokewing knew she had the option to sleep with the other warriors, but right now she wanted nothing more than to be alone. So she drifted off to sleep under the open sky.
She awoke the next morning to a voice and smell above her that she vaguely recognized, telling her that she was to go with him on dawn patrol. The night had been a rough one; she'd tossed and turned and shivered in the night breeze. But her stubbornness had kept her from giving in to the temptation to join the rest of the warriors. Smokewing got to her paws and stretched, wincing a pit at the pain in her shoulder, but not saying a word to Ripplepool before following him, Grasspaw, and a couple of other apprentices whose names she didn't bother to remember.
She stayed silent the entire time, all her senses on high alert. She'd had a nightmare that DawnClan had found and ambushed them, outnumbering the little clan by a ridiculous twenty to one. She couldn't shake this worry, as most, if not all of the cats here were traitors in Stormstar's books. Smokewing had no doubt that he'd be vengeful.
When the group returned and reported back, Smokewing approached Grasspaw, standing close enough to him that it was polite, but far enough away that she felt comfortable. "Go get something to eat, then we may as well do a little bit of training while we wait." But before she could go rest a bit from their patrol, she heard a yowl at the back of the hollow from their leader as he called the clan together. Smokewing padded toward him and the rest of the cats, sticking to back of the group.
She was very impressed that they'd found a new home so quickly. A part of her was a little skeptical since it had been so easy, but she decided to try it out, figuring that some place was better than nothing. So at Lynxstar's command for her to help carry the meager medicine cat supplies, she obliged, moving over to wordlessly pick up a mouthful of herbs and follow the rest of the clan out of the temporary camp.⁙⁙ STONEPAW ⁙⁙ FloodClan Medicine Cat Apprentice ⁙⁙Stonepaw was awake bright and early, excited at the prospect of going to search for herbs with Frogleap soon. She was surprised to see that most of the apprentices were waking up as well. Did normal apprentices really get up this early? She supposed that today might be a little different considering what had just happened the day before. Stonepaw briefly nudged Nightpaw and Blackpaw who she had slept nearest to and been kept warm by, meowing a quick thank you before hurrying off to find Frogleap and start the day.
Their expedition turned out to be fairly successful; they found plenty of cobwebs, a few elder leaves, several nettle leaves and even some coltsfoot, which would be very useful to store for the upcoming winter season. When they returned, they placed what they had found into their temporary storage and Stonepaw hurried off to check on the cats who she and Frogleap had seen to yesterday. Everyone seemed to be in good shape; the wounds were healing nicely, and there didn't seem to be any sign of infection. Stonepaw couldn't help but be very proud of the work she'd done.
The apprentice then realized that the clan was gathering in front of Lynxstar. Stonepaw bounded over, settling herself next to Blackpaw. "What's going on?" she asked in a hushed mew. She strained her ears to hear what their leader was saying and felt herself brighten. They'd already found a new home? StarClan was definitely on their side! After Lynxstar finished, Stonepaw helped in dividing out bunches of herbs and leaves and cobwebs for the four of them to take to the new camp. She felt a buzz of excitement at this whole ordeal. But throughout the day she couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was off....

Frogleap's night turned out to be a long one. First with Hazeltail coming to him just as he was settling Thistle down, limping from a sprained paw. Frogleap was rarely cross with anyone, but that didn't mean he wouldn't scold a foolish warrior ignoring their own well being for a ridiculous display of self-sacrifice. "The ligaments are just stretched by the looks of it--you're lucky you didn't tear them. You'd be on total bed rest if you had. I'm going to set this paw for you, but you need to go easy on it for a couple of days. With the clan being in turmoil right now you're bound to be assigned to patrols, but in any free time you have, see to it that you're resting the paw. Now go," he ushered him off, having finished his wrapping. No sooner had he turned to slide his herbs back to their temporary storage than a voice hissed his name. Ear's perking at the familiar voice, he turned just in time to see Spidersilk's face, 0.5 seconds before she launched herself at him. She nuzzled her face into his neck fur, her purr mixing with his while his tail wrapped around her, drawing her as close to him as space would permit them. Over her shoulder, he could spot Cedarmask and Ripplepool looking away with obvious discomfort. He could almost imagine, word for word, what their minds were thinking. Even if FloodClan appreciated his arrival when they needed a cat to train their first true medicine cat the most, they were still clan cats. They weren't used to a medicine cat having a mate and family. Most of them were looking forward to the day Stonepaw would fully take over his role. And he had to admit, with Spidersilk curling herself around him and Thistle nesting between their bellies, he was too.
The new morning brought a beautiful sight with it: Spidersilk's features, delicate and peaceful in her sleeping state, bathed in the soft morning light. He let himself stare at her for a long while before carefully moving away from her and Thistle, who promptly wriggled closer to his mother. He had given himself a quick wash when Lynxstar approached and listed off a handful of apprentices he could snag for the day. "Oh, thank you but I'm sure Stonepaw and I have got it. They can sleep in a bit before they join us in the new day." As though she'd heard her name and came running, Stonepaw promptly appeared at his side. "Off we go then," he meowed heartily, his eyes bright. Herb hunting was a medicine cat duty he'd always found peaceful. And enjoying that peace, he had to admit, was partially why he didn't particularly want to drag a bunch of sleepy apprentices along with him. Waving his tail goodbye to their leader, he set off with Stonepaw at his side.
They enjoyed a rather successful herb scavenge, returning to camp with a haul that made up for a good portion of the most basic supplies they'd need in the coming time. "We'll be doing a lot of trips like this for the next few days now, mind you," he reminded as they were padding back into camp. "We need to identify where all the plants we use grow and stock up as much as we can before leaf-bare really sets in." He was preparing to set the leaves out to dry when Lynxstar's voice rang out above the clan's activity, calling them all together. "Sunshade has found us a new location for our camp!" Surprise moved like a shock of static through him, raising all sorts of thoughts. 'That was awfully quick. Are they certain this is a place we can truly make a home in? Or are they desperate enough for a place to call camp that they'd rush into a place?" He troubled over this concern as Lynxstar instructed the cats in the hollow and they all prepared to abandon their temporary dwelling.
"Stonepaw! Come along," he called, waving the young cat over to help him, Smokewing, and Cedarmask transport their store. A familiar scent wrapped around him as Spidersilk came up behind him and rubbed her pelt up against his by way of hello. "It's rude to leave your nest with your mate before she's woken," she mewed, teasing. "Treat her like that again and you may be sleeping alone for a moon." Frogleap schooled his features into a look of dread. Spidersilk snorted. "Kit-eyes have no affect on me," she said in return to his nonverbal plea for mercy, tilting her head the other way. "However," her eyes cut back towards him, a smirk teasing the corners. "Your cute self does. I forgive you. Hold the joyous thanks, you can't afford to be dropping precious herbs." She rubbed her cheek to his, just as Thistle launched himself at his father's back. "Let's go, dad! I wanna see this new camp." Frogleap sighed, but his loving smile ruined the attempt at exasperation with his family. Giving his son a ride on his back, he followed the clan out from the hollow.
Arriving to the clearing that Sunshade had uncovered, Frogleap's earlier worries seemed to fade to the back of his mind. While cats explored the site eagerly, and at every mew of approval his heart lightened. 'StarClan, you've outdone yourselves.' Spidersilk nudged him along through the cat-congested clearing. "Frogleap, look here," she meowed, pushing forward into a dim tunnel that dipped down into the tall rock walls encircling the camp. "There's plenty of space for sick cats," her voice called back as he padded after her into the cave. His eyes adjusted as he looked about, taking it in. "What do you think, Stonepaw?" His gaze caught on the far back wall, which was lined with crannies in the stone that would store herbs suitably. Only at receiving his apprentice's--who, as FloodClan's first full medicine cat, deserved the last say in their den space--did he motion for Cedarmask and Smokewing to leave their share of the herbs there with him.
"We ought to set these to dry while we help everyone build nests." Carrying their stocks to the base of the back wall, he began the business of splaying them out. "Mom! I wanna show you what Fawnpaw and Grasspaw taught me yesterday," Thistle mewed, pulling Spidersilk out of the den only to return a fair while later with ferns and moss in tow. "Curl those around nice and thick," he instructed, Spidersilk rolling her eyes as she took orders from her son. "And now the moss! Look, dad, your nest!" Frogleap glanced back from his work, trying not to let his whiskers twitch with laughter at the sight of the sloppily constructed nest. He failed. Thistle narrowed his eyes, his little tail lashing defensively. "What're you laughing at?" "It figures that Grasspaw had a part in teaching you that. Stonepaw," he gently nudged his apprentice with a paw. "I've got the rest of this. Why don't you show Thistle how to make a proper nest?" He turned back to the work beneath his paws, while Spidersilk stepped back for the apprentice to take Thistle's side. "We can make another for you too, Stonepaw, and then the three of us will go help the rest of the clan."
+
The dawn patrol turned up nothing too exciting. Just a bit of territory with faint, far-away whiffs of the other two clans. Grasspaw spent the morning trip chattering at Rosepaw while Fawnpaw was quietly, dutifully padding at Ripplepool's side, paying close attention to every detail of their trail. "At least the weather is a bit kinder then yesterday." She flicked an ear in agreement. "Must have lost it's charming appeal. Not a swooning tree in sight," she mewed. "Maplefeather's past clan's namesake is no match for these stubborn evergreen gals," Grasspaw chimed in, earning an amused smirk from his sister.
When they returned from their morning stroll, Fawnpaw promptly found herself a seat near the edge of the hollow to groom herself while Smokewing slid past Grasspaw, advising him to grab something to eat before they leave to do a bit of training soon. Grasspaw practically shot off sparks of excitement, scuffing around enthusiastically after wolfing down a bit of prey. Fawnpaw sent him a sharp look. "Stars, would you calm down? You're making this hollow feel even smaller." He paused, only to smile at her smugly. "Jealous that I'm going out training while you'll be stuck here?" "No." "Liar." "Bite me." "You missed a spot." He leaned forward to groom the fur at her back that she could never reach properly amidst all her fluff. She bapped him on the back of the head, grumbling that she was getting to it. "Second lie of the day. You going for a record?" She shoved him off and he laughed again.
At the sound of Lynxstar making an announcement, Grasspaw bounded off to sit with Smokewing, while Fawnpaw took her place next to Skychase, mewing her first good morning to him. Grasspaw's ears perked with interest, and he sprung to his paws the moment cats started to stand and filter out of the hollow. "I guess training will have to wait!" He called back to his mentor as he and the other apprentices rallied to the front of the group of cats, all ready to be the first to catch sight of their prospective new camp. "Grasspaw, Nightpaw," Fawnpaw called out, weaving up to walk alongside them. "We should gather ferns and moss for the nests now so we can save time and start right away with building them," she suggested, already making a small detour at a clump of ferns.

Flσσdclαn Wαrríσr ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan temporary camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Sunshade and Lynxstar ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Leafdance sat up straight, her tail curled neatly around her as her ears swiveled at every sound. Soon the sun began to colour the sky with dawn, the light slowly beginning to warm and seep into her pelt. For once she was glad to have an event-less night, but still proud to have kept watch over her clan as a warrior. But Leafdance was determined to finish her vigil strong, so when the sound of pawsteps approached her she whirled around, ready to defend her clan.
Lucky for Sunshade, he was fast for his size and managed to duck her swipe. Leafdance balked, too embarrassed to say anything. But lucky for her, Sunshade laughed it off in his good-natured way before relieving her of her duty. She was glad for this, thanking him before letting her stiff paws carry her to Skychase's recently abandoned nest, his scent still clinging to the moss the last the she noticed before weariness did her in.
When Leafdance opened her eyes again it was passed sunhigh, most cats either out hunting or milling about their temporary camp. But even at less than full capacity the hollow felt cramped. The small she cat hoped they'd find a new place to call home soon. It seemed almost like StarClan had heard her, as she had just padded over to the fresh kill pile when Sunshade returned, bringing good news. Lynxstar motioned for her to follow them to explore the new camp, which was absolutely perfect. She felt excitement prickling her paws and the three of them went back to prepare the clan for the move. She nodded to Lynxstar at his request for her to stay behind, though her heart ached a little to watch her clanmates leave her behind. It's okay, it's not like they're abandoning you. she chidded herself softly.
Flσσdclαn Dєputч ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan temporary camp > FloodClan camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Lynxstar and Leafdance > FloodClan ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Despite Lynxstar's assurance that all members of his search party had made it back, Sunshade couldn't help but visually confirm each cat was safe. Once satisfied Sunshade nodded at Lynxstar's words. "Sounds good. And the badger gave me a bit of trouble but with a few capable warriors we should be able to drive it off." The golden tom turned to show the way to his find, Lynxstar and Leafdance not far behind him.
Sunshade began to notice he was holding his breath. He had just brought Lynxstar and Leafdance to the possible new camp and currently watched his leader's face for signs that his find was a worthy one. His gaze followed Lynxstar as his leader moved about the clearing, inspecting the openings in the rock face. At the other tom's exclamation he relaxed visibly, purring at the approval and grateful to have found a place his clan could call home.
Once they'd returned to the clan and made the annoucement, the deputy watched as his clanmates gathered themselves up for the move. Please StarClan, let this be the last one. This all felt so... familiar. He had spent most of his younger days travelling, having seen all the clans pick up and move not once but twice in his lifetime. And although he'd made some lifelong friends, and one so much more than a friend, he would never wish that on any cat. Kinda feels weird moving without you with me this time Blue. But I think it'll be alright. Sunshade's heartache had dulled with time, but part of him wondered if it would ever truly go away. Or if he ever wanted it to. Shaking his head to clear it he picked himself up off the ground to lead his clan to their new home.
The golden tom more or less collapsed into a heap at the edge of the clearing, feeling safe with the high rock walls surrounding him on every side but still free with the sight of the open sky above him. But after an early morning search followed by two extra trips back to this place on top of a day full of nest building, tired was an understatement. Sometime ago he'd started to notice himself leaving dark pawprints where he walked, his just barely healed pads rubbed raw from the day's work. So when the dens had finally been completed, the former medicine cat apprentice had "borrowed" some dock leaves from Frogleap and Stonepaw's new den before hunkering down in a dark corner. He'd just lain down when his belly had given him a loud reminder of just how early in the day his last meal had been. "Quiet you, I can only do one thing at a time. Also crawling on my belly would be the only way I would get to the fresh kill pile anyway." he muttered under his breath as he wrapped his paw pads with the broad leaves.
Sunshade was just considering how much attention he'd attract if he rolled to the fresh kill pile and back as he finished wrapping his back paws. He decided against it as he started his front paws, but realized with a sinking feeling this was much easier to do on another cat than it was to do himself. As soon as he'd wrapped one paw and moved to the other, the one he'd just wrapped either stifled his movements or came off completely. "Mousedung, I did not think this through" he sighed, giving up with a huff.

It had been a long day, though Lavendersky supposed hers hadn't been as long as most. Still, with all the padding around they had done on their hunting patrol that morning, and then in moving the clan again, and helping to build nests, she was pretty tired. She knew she couldn't be the only cat, and there were more than a few reddened pawprints around their new camp.
With the nests all built, most of the cats were settling down to share tongues and finally get some food in their bellies. Not that Lavendersky could blame them, it was the sort of day that warranted the time. Glancing around camp, she spotted Sunshade, seeing that he seemed to be having trouble swaddling his last pad. She purred a little to herself, finding the sight oddly endearing. Shaking her head at herself, she picked a mouse from the pile and padded over to him.
"You looked like you were going to have some trouble after all that wrapping. Want some help?" She offered, after placing the mouse within his reach. When he gave his consent, she settled near him, following his instructions to wrap his remaining paw, before gently re-securing the initial foot.
"That feel alright?" She mewed, leaning back a bit to examine her work. It probably didn't have the clean finesse that one of Frogleap's wrapping jobs would have had, but they at least looked like they'd hold for now, which was more than enough in her mind. She gestured lightly with her tail for him to take the mouse, for now content to simply lie there and enjoy the fading sunlight.
"It's pretty here, and it feels safe. How did you find this?" She asked after a few beats, curiosity getting the better of her.

Flσσdclαn Dєputч ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Lavendersky ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Sunshade sighed, looking accusatory at his last unwrapped paw pad with such concentration that he didn't notice Lavendersky's approach. When she offered her assistance he jerked slightly, caught off guard and looking like a kit caught with a paw in the catmint stores. "Huh? Oh, hey Lavendersky. And you know what that would be absolutely perfect, thanks."
The deputy purred in gratitude as she settled next to him. "Yeah, just hold that side with your paw, yeah just be careful not to-- yowch!" The tom waved his tail in a dismissive gesture. "Don't worry about it, I did that once to an elder in ShadowClan. If you think FloodClan elders are crotchety, have I got stories... Oh right, so gently hold that down there and wrap it twice around and tuck that..." Sunshade carefully guided her into the finished wrap and held out the completed paw, admiring her work. "Not bad. And that feels amazing, thanks."
Sunshade followed her gesture, his eye catching on the mouse she'd brought over. "Wow, you spoil me." He purred good humouredly before tucking into the mouse. And did it ever hit the spot. They sat in companionable silence until he finished, which took a while as he had to avoid touching the prey too much with his wraps. "Oh, I almost fell into it, that's how." He enjoyed the look on her face at this, before breaking into mrrow of laughter. "Don't worry, I plan on staying in good health and not dying. But it was like StarClan had gotten this place ready for us. Though I did have to fight off some badger just to get here."

Lavendersky couldn't help but purr as she clearly surprised him with her approach, even though she hadn't meant to. Still, she pushed the amusement aside to dutifully wrap his paws, managing a quick apology when she'd accidentally hurt him worse.
"Pfft. I have some stories about kittypet elders that make most of the wild ones seem tame, though I'd love to hear some of yours." She replied, amusement in her tone. Elder's here mostly snapped verbally. She'd seen older kitty pet's nearly shred a cat for simply passing by a little too close for their liking. Perhaps, though, ShadowClan elders had been worse. "I still can't believe there used to be four clans that lasted that long. There's only three now and there's enough hostility around you can taste it at the borders." She mewed, tone surprisingly light, given the subject matter. She knew there had probably always been in-fighting, but she'd been around such a short time, she couldn't imagine the clans had existed so long if the current events were the norm.
"Don't get too used to it, I can't have cats thinking I'm trying to bribe my way to the top." She joked in reply, feeling her fur heat regardless at his comment about spoiling. Part of her would very much happily let him get used to it, if only it meant more evenings spent this way. She knew she should branch out more, but she was friendly with the rest of the clan, and soon Sunshade would be too busy again to spend so much time. Maybe if she just let herself have these few days, she could convince her crush on the time to finally wane, at least a little.
"Ohh. That would not have been a good way for us to find the camp." She mewed, flinching a bit at his story. It was a bit dangerous at the top. "We should find a way to mark the edge better, just so everyone can be a little safer." She mewed slowly, wondering how it could be done.

⁙⁙ STONEPAW ⁙⁙ FloodClan Medicine Cat Apprentice ⁙⁙The prospect of needing to continue on these scavenges for herbs filled Stonepaw with excitement. It was almost a game having to sniff out and recognize the good herbs from the poisonous ones, the healthy versus the dying. Ever since becoming medicine cat apprentice, everything she'd learned had seemed to fill her entire being with wonder, especially being able to feel so close to StarClan. And knowing how proud her mother was of her was one of the best things about it.
While bringing herbs to the new camp, Stonepaw stuck close to Frogleap, enjoying the time she had with him. In an odd sort of way, she looked to him as her adoptive father, since her own had refused to leave DawnClan along with his mate and two kits. He had watched over her as his own when she became his apprentice, and Stonepaw felt a unique bond with the acting medicine cat. Spidersilk then joined them, and Stonepaw stood by and watched awkwardly as the two exchanged very familiar greetings. The apprentice shifted on her paws uncomfortably. She couldn't blame Frogleap for choosing to have a family, it must be nice. Still, it was hard to hold back judgement for his breaking of StarClan rules. And while Stonepaw always loved spending time with Thistle, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable around Spidersilk.
Stonepaw mrrowed with laughter as Thistle tackled his father, then followed the trio to the new camp. The place seemed perfect in every way and Stonepaw felt the gentle presence of StarClan, seeming to sanction this new location. It really was incredible at how quickly their home had been replaced. Surely StarClan approves of what we're doing, otherwise why would they protect and watch over us like this? Stonepaw's ears perked when she heard Frogleap call her name. She padded over to a nearby tunnel in the stone wall and poked her head in. It wasn't overbearingly dark, there was just enough light to see where she was going. The gray apprentice sniffed around, noting every nook and cranny that made this place the perfect spot for a medicine cat. Awareness of the situation hit her as she realized that this very well could be her home for the rest of her life. This would be the place that, once she became the FloodClan medicine cat, she would bring in sick and injured cats and take care of them, hopefully being beloved by the whole clan.
"It's perfect!" she meowed, whiskers twitching in excitement. The herbs she'd carried over from the two-leg dens fit perfectly into the niches in the rock, and she directed Smokewing and Cedarmask to place their own herbs into specific holes, already having an idea of how she wanted the place to be organized. The she-cat turned as Thistle returned with nest materials, purring in amusement at his attempt to make a nest. Not that Stonepaw had much experience either. That was the other apprentice's jobs. Luckily since they'd needed to create a lot of nests in the two-leg dens, she had been taught and recruited to make simple nests. Stonepaw found herself very grateful for that little knowledge since Frogleap suggested she teach the kit how to make a bed properly. Stonepaw nodded, not wanting to seem incompetent and moved to stand beside Thistle, guiding his actions and trying hard not to laugh at his adorable mistakes.
When he'd finally produced an adequate nest, Stonepaw praised his efforts and settled into it to show him just how comfy of a bed he'd just made. This seemed to please him and the apprentice looked to Frogleap. "Your son is a pretty fast learner! He'd made a great medicine cat!" she said, but immediately regretted it. She quickly shut her mouth and headed towards the den exit. "I'll go see if anyone needs helps with nests. Wanna come with me, Thistle?" She looked to Spidersilk to wait for her permission before heading out into the clearing.

Flσσdclαn Dєputч ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx FloodClan camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Lavendersky > Dawn and hunting patrols > Lynxstar ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Sunshade made an amused noise at her her claim that kittypet elders could be as bad as ShadowClan ones. Oh I have stories, alright. But he opted not to share any, mostly because basically he looked good in none of them. Wow, I was terrible as an apprentice, apparently. He smiled inwardly at the thought. At Lavendersky's mention of the four clans grew quiet, the amusement fading from his expression. "Things were... different, back then. There was still conflict but not nearly this much." This admission made him thoughtful more than sad. There were things and cats he missed from the old forest, but he loved his new home and clan just as much. Still, at the same time it threw doubt in his mind as to whether or not his brother's stance was right or not. Undoubtedly he couldn't support Stormstar's methods, but there was admittedly a lot of merit to his brother's convictions about the clans as a whole.
The mirth returned to his features at her quip. "I wouldn't mind the attention to be honest, if you didn't." He said it half jokingly, meaning he enjoyed her company. He mrrowed with laughter at her comment about how they'd find the camp, realizing too late that may or may not have been an appropriate thing to find funny. "Er, um, I mean yes, that's a good point. But I think the edge is better left unmarked, to keep from announcing to the forest that we live here. But you still have a good point. I'll talk to Lynxstar about it, at the very least he can make an announcement and have all the mentors and queens harp on the apprentices and kits." Sunshade spent the evening talking with Lavendersky until he could no longer keep his eyes open and asked for respite. Was it strange that he liked that she walked with him to the warrior's den? Dismissing the thought he curled into his nest and tried to ignore the stinging in his paws as the herbs worked their magic.
Sunshade awoke the next day, tugging off his wrappings and examining each paw carefully. They had each visibly improved from yesterday, which he was grateful for. Unfortunately they hadn't yet improved enough for him to lead a dawn or hunting patrol, so he was left to delegate. Prodding Smokewing awake he waited for her to open her eyes before speaking. "Good morning Smokewing. I need you to take Ripplepool and Cedarmask on a hunting patrol." When the she cat replied he nosed Lavendersky awake. "Morning Lavendersky, sleep well? Please take Skychase, Fawnpaw and Hazeltail on dawn patrol, that wrap worked perfectly but I don't want to push my luck so soon." When the she cat acknowledged him he raised his tail in a salute to send them off before padding off in search of Lynxstar.
"So my almost-flying experience and something Lavendersky said has me thinking we need to do something about the cliffs around the camp. I wasn't sure about marking it because I don't want to give every passerby a reason to get curious, but we need to take some precautions. This goes double for apprentices and kits. What do you think?"

Waking up, Lynxstar found himself confused as to where he was. He blinked slowly, processing the fact that he was in an unfamiliar place. After a moment, he remembered the day before, and realized he was in his own den. It was still peculiar to have an actual den to himself where he couldn't actually hear his clannmates moving around; unnerving in a way, given how close they'd all been in proximity over the moons. He sat up, giving his pelt a thorough grooming and trying not to dwell on the negative so much.
His pads were still sore from yesterday, helping to build nest after nest so all of their clan mates could rest easily. It had been hard work, but he was thrilled the worst of it had been completed. There would be plenty of good news to share at the gathering, between a litter and a solid camp that would be difficult to ambush and easy to defend. Even with the incident last moon, he was hoping they would be taken seriously.
Emerging in to the early morning light, Lynxstar glanced around, watching with pleasure as the clan came to life for the first time in their new home. Already, the place looked so natural, with cats squeezing their way out. Gratitude swelled in his chest once more, pleased they had found a home. He was shaken from his thoughts by Sunshade. He nodded in greeting as his deputy approached.
"Perhaps we can do it subtly, maybe with some larger stones near the edge? Not so many to attract attention, but enough for cats coming and going to know to look for them as they get close. Or maybe we could scent mark heavily around the edge?" It was a significant drop. The kits and apprentices would be in the most danger - a thought that ad Lynxstar's chest tightening. Even the warriors would be in trouble if they went over the edge, a wrong landing easily spelling the doom of any cat.
--~--
Lavendersky enjoyed staying up and chatting with Sunshade, warm from nose to tail tip at having gotten the chance to. When he grew tired, she walked him to the den, moving to her own nest to lie down. It was pleasant to sleep on more than the cold hard ground. When Sunshade prodded her awake, it took her a moment to respond, reluctant to pull from her dreams. She nodded to him after a moment.
"I did, thank you. And I'm glad your pads are doing better." She replied, before sitting up and stretching lightly, grateful when her limbs only offered a few aching protest. Slowly she moved about the den, rousing Skychase and Hazeltail, before moving to wait for the two toms by the camp entrance.
(The dawn patrol is moving to the Dawn/FloodClan border)
--~--
Skychase was roused by Lavendersky's gentle prodding. It was beyond difficult to respond at first, the last several days catching up to the tom. He knew he wouldn't have been able to sleep much longer anyway - he had Fawnpaw to worry about. But still, not having been tagged for the earliest patrols would have been nice. He crawled out of his nest shortly after, following Lavendersky out in to the early light of dawn, before padding to the apprentice's den. Slipping inside, he gently nosed Fawnpaw.
"Hey, wake up Fawnpaw. We're going on the dawn patrol." He mewed, waiting for some affirmation that she was awake, before backing out to join Lavendersky.
--~--
Ripplepool woke at the same time as his brother, catching some of Sunshade's mew, and then more responding to him stirring at his side. He knew he wasn't part of Skychase's patrol, but he thought he'd heard his name, so regardless he sat up. He thought he could see Smokewing looking at him, so he put two and two together fairly quickly. He gave himself a quick groom, before offering to meet Smokewing outside, padding to the apprentice's den to shake up Rosepaw just as Skychase was leaving. He waited outside for her, affectionately brushing his tail over her back when she joined him, leading her to where they would be meeting their patrol.
"Where do you think we should hunt today?" He asked, more to make conversation with the others than anything else.
--~--
Nightpaw had nodded at Fawnpaw's suggestion, helping her and Grasspaw to gather ferns and moss for the nests. It was a good idea, and at least helped to save a little bit of time as they arrived in their new home. They had to spend a long while building nests, to the point that Nightpaw was exhausted by the time they had actually finished. Their clan had seemed small until they had so much work to do in so little time.
The next morning he was woken by his den mates getting lured out in to the morning by their mentors. It was amazing how quickly the den could clear out. Sighing, Nightpaw sat up, taking the time to groom his coat since Sunshade hadn't come to summon him. Eventually, he padded out in to the cool morning air. He spotted Sunshade talking to Lynxstar, so he waited for his mentor to be finished before padding up to ask what they'd be doing for the day. He was disappointed to hear he'd be tending to the elders, but wandered off with a nod. He fetched some moss with mouse bile from Frogleap, before going to take care of one of the few things he was regretting about clan life.
--~--
Cloverstream was woken by tiny nudges at her belly. She cracked open her eyes, glancing over to find Chirpkit kneading her, whine Songkit still slept. She purred softly as she looked them over, content for now to just see them with her.
Slowly, Songkit joined her brother. When the two had fed, they became more alert. Cloverstream ushered them out of the den so they wouldn't bother Spidersilk, settling with them in an out of the way spot. When they got bored, she found them a moss ball to play with, lightly batting it back and forth to keep them occupied, and help them as they learned to walk.
(A rusty, sleepy return, but a return nonetheless xP)

⁙⁙ SMOKEWING ⁙⁙ FloodClan Warrior ⁙⁙Another rough night made Smokewing loath to get up that morning, her head feeling unusually foggy and eyes struggling to stay open. But she got up at Sunshade's request nonetheless, shaking pieces of ferns from her black pelt. Ripplepool again? she thought, casting a look in his direction. The tom was already up and seemed to know that he was called to join her and Cedarmask on the hunting patrol. It seemed they were always paired to lead the patrols. Though it could very well just be coincidence. She wasn't even sure why she'd noticed the pattern; normally she hardly paid attention to what cats she patrolled with. Smokewing shook her head, attributing it all to not having much sleep, and, after waking Cedarmask, left the den to meet up with the rest at the camp entrance.
When Smokewing noted that Ripplepool was bringing along his apprentice, the she-cat considered for a moment getting Grasspaw, but ultimately decided against it, figuring that it would take up valuable time that could be spent hunting. They left the camp, Smokewing taking the lead. At Ripplepool's question, she spoke over her shoulder. "There's a place just up the slope that's full of ground cover perfect for mice and voles to live. I figured we could start there and see what we find. Since this is new territory, I suggest you all be on high alert." After that, Smokewing was silent, and once they'd reached the top of the slope, she distanced herself a bit from the others, making sure to stay quiet. Her eyes lit up when she caught scent of a mouse (luckily she'd been downwind), and she immediately dropped to a crouch. The mouse was easily caught, as well as a vole and an injured sparrow. The sun was pretty high, so she picked up her catches and made her way towards the top of the slope to meet up with the others.
