  Shadowstone dipped his head to Forestfern in greeting as she approached them. Shifting on his paws before looking back to Stormstar. "So as frustrating as it is that cats left us for something else, it sounds like we're stuck with them." He sighed, nodding to Forestfern. "If you need more paws, just let me know and I will find another cat to help you." He meowed, stumbling sideways with a gasp as two apprentices tumbled into him.
Turning his gaze to where Oakpaw was fleeing and Sparrowpaw was refusing to look at him. "You know, if you really want to win - learn to use your small size to your advantage." He crouched down so he was level with her. "You're small and fast. Oakpaw won't know what hit him." He purred, nodding over to Petalfall. "I think your mentor is waiting." He chuckled before righting himself on his paws again and looking back to Stormstar.
"I think you have a shadow." Shadowstone purred, glancing over to where Spottedkit was inching toward them.
C L O V E R L U S HCloverlush jumped a bit when she felt a paw prod her pelt. Blinking her eyes open, she nodded in response and rose to her paws with a stretch. "Alright." She meowed, padding out of the warriors den with a shake to wait for everyone else to wake up.

SKYWHISKER & GLIMMERKIT [indent][indent]DAWNCLAN QUEEN & KIT
Skywhisker glanced up when she felt eyes on her, but she was met with nothing so she shrugged it off. She knew cats probably thought she was being punished for something, some days - so did she. She must have done something to upset Starclan. Why else would she lose two of her kits and then lose her mate a few moons later? Sighing, the white she-cat sat down and curled her tail around her paws; her gaze not leaving Glimmerkit.
"Mama? Is Spottedkit going to be an apprentice today?" Glimmerkit piped up, clearly remembering the other kit`s excitement about the upcoming ceremony. Spottedkit was a normal kit in the eyes of everyone, and she was lovely; she was sure to do well. "I don't know love. Maybe not today, but Spottedkit should be having her apprentice ceremony soon." Glimmerkit wriggled in excitement for her denmate, not seeming to wonder why she probably wasn`t on that list.
"Oh thank you Sparrowpaw." Skywhisker purred, dipping her head in thanks before calling Glimmerkit over. "Foooood." She giggled, bounding over to where Skywhisker was to eat together before the two of them went into the nursery as night began to fall.
~~~
Waking up before her mother, Glimmerkit padded out of the den and lifted her nose to try and locate her friend. When a familiar scent finally hit her nose, she followed it to where the she-kit was. "Hi Spottedkit. You think today is your day?" She asked in a hushed tone, having heard the inaudible voices of Stormstar and Shadowstone and not wanting to interrupt.
 DαwnClαn Lєαdєr ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx DawnClan camp ᴡɪᴛʜxx Shadowstone and Forestfern > Ravenstrike ᴏᴏᴄxx ... xxx◢ Stormstar twitched an ear at his deputy's report, but if StarClan's reply had been unsatisfactory to him he didn't show it. "That's right. Ravenstrike and I discovered their camp. It's an absolute mess." This statement got the gears turning in the DawnClan leader's mind. If his own clan had gone through something so traumatic he would have had them relocate somewhere temporarily. I will have to go back later to confirm...
The brindle tom's thoughts were cut off by Forestfern joining the conversation. He was glad for the further details she provided, though they were about as cryptic and unhelpful as most messages they received from their warrior ancestors. Is it because all the pragmatic ones are still alive? Or do you just die and forget how to tell other cats things directly? Stormstar's pelt bristled slightly in annoyance but he didn't let that feeling colour his tone. "Thank you Shadowstone, Forestfern. You have done your clan a great favour by going to commune with our ancestors for wisdom. I only wish you had been given more to show for your efforts."
He dismissed Forestfern to take her little kittypet apprentice out. At the very least the little whelp could carry the medicine cat's herbs for her, even though she would become a medicine cat over his dead body. Stormstar moved to turn back to Shadowstone, but was surprised when the dark furred tom let himself by bowled over by two apprentices. A reprimand died on the tom's tongue as the deputy merely brushed it off and turned the accident into a teaching moment. Stormstar watched the fleeing apprentices for a moment before turning back to Shadowstone. "You have more patience than most. I'm glad to have you, we have enough hotheads in this clan as is." Stormstar purred at this, as this statement included himself. But in all honesty though he had been named Stormfury, it was his coldness that was truly dangerous. But that part of him was too dark to share with anyone, so he kept that to himself.
"Hm?" Stormstar followed Shadowstone's gaze to the little fiery she kit. She was almost of age to become an apprentice, and Stormstar had been planning to make her one the following day. This little kit had lost her parents early, and so had been adopted into the clan as a whole. And she fully belonged here, as both her parents had been warriors alongside him in ShadowClan. "It seems I do." Stormstar paused for a moment, seeming to decide something. "When the cats return from dawn and hunting patrols try not to send anyone else out. We wouldn't want them to miss a ceremony."
Turning away, Stormstar was momentarily distracted by Harespring and Ravenstrike returning from their hunt. He locked eyes with Harespring and gave her an approving nod as she deposited her prey. But Ravenstrike seemed to be going through the motions as she dropped her catch, curling up out of the way with a shiver. The DawnClan leader stooped to pick up two mice from the pile before padding over where the she cat was huddled against the chill of the day. Without a word he lay down next to her, his thick pelt quickly warming them both. Stormstar dropped his mice and looked over to her casually. "Full bellies and warm days are fast becoming a commodity with leafbare approaching. Shall we enjoy what we can while we still can?"
Stormstar seemed to purr at the solemnity of his own comment, rolling the second mouse over to her. "I didn't mean for that to sound so glum. How was the hunt?"
Forestfern lead her patrol near the stream's edge, where many herbs managed to cling to life, thanks to the flowing water keeping things moving just enough to keep some things alive. She was going over the herb and its purpose carefully, making sure both Iceleap and Flarepaw understood, when she was distracted by movement across the way. Owlflight was leading a small patrol, with one of DuskClan's elders - Swallowsong - among them. All three cats were bearing full loads of catmint. Pit twisted in her gut as she realized the opposing clan must be in the midst of an outbreak.
"Oh! Owlflight, that's quite a lot of catmint you have there! Is everything alright?" She called over the stream, catching the frustration that flashed across the deputy's face. Apparently, DuskClan was unwilling to share their problems. Owlflight's reply was breezy on the surface, but Foresfern knew it was simply a cover. Still, she dipped her head to free the other cats from the conversation, before returning to her lesson.
It was nearly sunhigh before she lead them back into camp, all three depositing their gatherings. Forestfern told her pair of apprentices to wait for her, before padding over to Stormstar.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but something interesting happened while we are out I think you'd like to know about." She mewed, gesturing with her tail that she would like to keep the conversation private, at least for the moment. She was grateful when Stormstar joined her in a more secluded area.
"While out gathering herbs, a DuskClan patrol passed us on their side of the border. They were carrying enough catmint to stock the clan for moons, and they had an elder on the patrol. I think they must be suffering an outbreak." She mewed softly, not wanting to announce it to the whole clan if Stormstar wished to play the news close to his chest. "If they're weakened, they'll be ill prepared to fight off FloodClan - and if they can gain a foothold there first, it will open a broader path for them to come for our territory." The concern tasted thick on her tongue, even though she expected more confidence from her leader. Reguardless, she was grateful someone had seen it, so at least Stormstar could feel more prepared for what could come.
--~--
Petalfall watched in horror as her apprentice and Oakpaw tussled right into Shadowstone, bowling him over. She was about to snap a reprimand at her apprentice, when the deputy seemed to handle it in a much kinder way than she would have. Her frustrated words died in her throat, her anger seeming foolish in light of Shadowstone's response. Instead, when Sparrowpaw joined herself and Cliffstrike at the entrance, she brushed her tail over her shoulder's as she lead the group out.
"Next time, watch where you're going. After the patrol I'll show you some battle moves and we'll work on how to disengage faster in a tight space." She mewed. She followed the northern border first, pausing every once in a while to mark her scent and quiz Sparrowpaw on the various scents around them. She was pleased with the results - Sparrowpaw already seemed top have a good grasp on isolating scents, and the beginings of being able to accurately date them.
There wasn't much to report, which she supposed was a good thing. They were close enough to the gathering where any squabbles now would only lead to another covered moon. Frankly, that was something Petalfall knew she could go without.
As they reached the end of the patrol route, Petalfall paused. "Cliffstrike, would you mind reporting back to Stormstar so I can take Sparrowpaw straight to the Great Maple for training?" When Cliffstrike agreed, she waved him off politely with her tail, before padding in the direction of DawnClan's favored training location.
"Alright, let's start with your battle stance, then we'll go from there." Petalfall mewed, only having to correct her apprentice slightly to allow for better balance. They worked into a practice grapple, claws sheathed, and Petalfall worked with her to show her when to stay, when to disengage, and how to properly do either. She was impressed with how quick Sparrowpaw learned, and congratulated her after successfully making the right call in a few of their practice wounds without Petalfall having to tell her which.
Sunwhisper was relieved at Maplefeather accepting her invitation, even as she practically felt Redbriar's ire clawing her pelt when he passed. When Maplefeather gestured for her to take the first bite, she did, keeping it as small as she could manage before nudging the mouse over the other she-cat. In reality, the former queen could probably use the meat more than she. She was just selfish in wanting company that wasn't her mentor for just a moment.
⁙⁙ SPARROWPAW ⁙⁙ DawnClan Apprentice ⁙⁙Shocked at how calm Shadowstone had been about her barreling into him, Sparrowpaw found herself speechless. It really was good advice that he'd given her. Being small had it's advantages after all, and she'd never really thought about how speed could very well out-match brute strength. Before leaving, Sparrowpaw bowed her head in thanks, gaining a new respect for the clan's deputy. It was interesting how different he and Stormstar were. If it had been Stormstar that she'd bumped into, she probably would have had her fur clawed off. Guess StarClan still wants me alive, she thought as she padded out of camp with her mentor, Cliffstrike, and Cloverlush.
Sparrowpaw purred at Petalfall's touch, but tucked her head down at the very small reprimanding she got, though she was surprised it wasn't about getting into a skirmish, but rather about keeping the battle in a small area. Sparrowpaw perked up when Petalfall mentioned training after the patrol. Throughout the patrol, Sparrowpaw was eager to please her mentor, answering questions and sniffing out specific scents on demand. It really was exhilarating knowing that she learned so much in only a few short months. The little apprentice found herself eager for when she became a warrior and could prove to her clan that her small frame didn't mean she was weak.
Cliffstrike continued to the camp to report their lack of findings while Sparrowpaw followed her mentor to the Great Maple, practically leaping with anticipation. When they started training, the apprentice felt confident, for the first time feeling like her size wasn't a hindrance, but rather an advantage. Her mistakes were quickly caught and compensated for, and Petalfall gave helpful tips and corrected her apprentice where necessary. The sun was high before they finally finished, Sparrowpaw's muscles aching wonderfully from the training.
When they returned to the camp, bringing a couple of fresh-kill with them, Sparrowpaw immediately spotted Shadowstone and hurried over to him, ignoring the hunger pangs in her stomach. "Shadowstone!" she called out, bouncing over to stand in front of him. She wasn't sure why she'd sought him out specifically. "I'm getting really good at battles! And I tried out what you said to use my size to my advantage and it worked! I'm gonna be the best warrior ever!" After giving Shadowstone a quick, grateful nudge with her nose, she turned and scurried off to the the fresh-kill pile, choosing a large squirrel and bringing it near the apprentices' den to settle down and eat.⁙⁙ CLIFFSTRIKE ⁙⁙ DawnClan Warrior ⁙⁙The patrol had ended up being very dull, and Cliffstrike found himself slightly disappointed that they hadn't found anything of interest. It would have been quite the opportunity to rush over to Stormstar and report that he had successfully fought of a group of FloodClan cats trying to come back to the clan. But he supposed that things would be be fairly quiet until the Gathering; ever since last time, every cat had been cautious about where they went and what they said. It was probably for the best for now, but Cliffstrike knew that things wouldn't be quiet for long, not with Stormstar as ambitious as he was.
As Cliffstrike entered the camp, he made his way over to Stormstar, bowing his head a little as he approached. "Everything is quiet at the borders, Stormstar," he reported, his chest thrown out in an effort to seem more proud and certain. Just being near such a powerful cat was exhilarating. But Cliffstrike kept his cool, wanting to continue the impression of confidence. Since there wasn't anything to report, the tom felt awkward continuing to stand in front of his leader in silence, so he turned to leave, but stopped twisting his head to face Stormstar once again. "I just want to let you know that you have my full allegiance. I am a cat that you can trust. Unlike some cats here." With that he turned once again and headed towards the fresh-kill pile to choose a small mouse for himself.
  Shadowstone nodded his head to Stormstar's request, trying not to wriggle in excitement. He just loved ceremonies; they lifted the otherwise sometimes somber mood of everything. The young deputy tilted his head as he watched their fluffy leader pad off to join Ravenstrike; he'd been spending a lot more time with her lately, it was nice to see. Glancing around camp, he thought of the patrols that were out. Petalfall was leading a border patrol and he had sent his sister and brother out hunting. And as Stormstar had requested, he wasn't going to send out anymore cats. Nodding to himself, Shadowstone padded to the entrance of the camp and sat down; contenting himself with watching the clan while making sure no uninvited surprise guests entered.
Dipping his head to Forestfern as she returned with her group, he watched curiously as she approached Stormstar. Glancing at the other two cats who had joined the she-cat, he ran a few ideas through his mind before deciding to let it go. He would only end up worrying himself if he let himself dwell on it too much.
Nodding in greeting to Cliffstrike and Cloverlush as they returned from the patrol, he motioned for the she-cat to join him for a moment. "Petalfall and Sparrowpaw aren't with you?" The fluffy calico shook her head. "Petalfall wanted to do a bit of training at the Great Maple before they returned." The she-cat informed him. Nodding his head, he dismissed her and continued his watch.
When Petalfall and Sparrowpaw had returned, the dark furred deputy was no longer seated by the entrance of the camp. Shadowstone was caught a bit off guard when Sparrowpaw bounded up to him. "See! I knew you could do it. You'll be a truly fearsome warrior of Dawnclan." He purred, a bit surprised when she gently nosed him before running off. He wasn't expecting to make such an impression on the apprentice, but it was nice. He imagined Petalfall was quite proud.
Rising to his paws after seeing his kin enter the camp, Shadowstone padded over to Stormstar. "Stormstar? All the patrols have returned." He informed softly.
Spottedkit continued to stare hard at the leader of Dawnclan, but when she got no reaction she let out a short growl and turned around. When she did, she came face to face to Glimmerkit, asking if today was her today. As if. "It looks like it isn't happening today. But there is always tomorrow! " She added at the end, mostly to remind herself. She was swishing her tail back and forth out of frustration, but she knew that in the end that. The scent of fresh-kill roused her, bringing her eyes to blink slowly open as Stormstar settled next to her, his warmth stifling a shiver that had begun to tease down her spine. Ravenstrike shifted to regard him thoughtfully, even as her whiskers twitched with curiosity at the continuation of this new development of his. 'Someone ought to have him renamed Burrstar.'
"Full bellies and warm days are fast becoming a commodity with leafbare approaching. Shall we enjoy what we can while we still can?" Her gaze followed the mouse he pushed her way, the rest of her hesitant to move. A low, rumbling purr brought her eyes to his. "I didn't mean for that to sound so glum."
"You have a whole family here Ravenstrike, if you'll allow it." Even his words were clinging to her. She'd instinctively opted to shake them off the first three or four times the line had filtering through her mind, but this time... she felt inclined to let herself enjoy the company. She allowed herself to share in his warmth, reaching out a paw to draw the mouse he'd brought closer to herself. "No worries," she mewed, breaking the eye contact she'd made with him. "The tone of dread fits the overarching theme of the season." "How was the hunt?" One ear flicked dismissively. "About as you'd expect. Prey's slowing down, but Harespring's still inspiring terror in prey across the whole of our territory. I managed to ruin a squirrel's mad dash for freedom. Think I may have put a damper on its day." She took a bite from her mouse, chewing as she spoke, attempting to be conversational.
+
Maplefeather had only just taken her first bite of the ouse when she noticed Sunwhisper shooting a glance over her shoulder towards where Redbriar was glaring at the two of them. She squinted in return, her ears flattening to her head in anticipation of being approached. But he only whirled around and left. Her demeanor relaxed significantly with his exit. "Honestly, you'd think I was trying to convince you to eat a kit." She huffed a short, exasperated laugh. Between the two of them, the mouse was polished off rather quickly. Maplefeather started to clean her paws, pausing to look Sunwhisper over. "You know," she began slowly, drawing the other she-cat's attention to her as she lowered her voice. "It probably wouldn't do you good to be seen sympathizing with me. I'd hate to be the cause of any fallout between you and Redbriar--or, stars forbid, the Clan." She couldn't help the bite of sarcasm that tinged her last word, her only attempt to cover it being her quick return to grooming her paws.
Dustnose eyes the activity of the camp from his position by the elders den, his gaze lingering on the warriors of the camp. A lone sigh escaped his maw as old memories as his time as a warrior surfaced. Thinking back to the time of the four clans. He was sure if the four clans still stood none of this nonsense about a third clan, or Stormstar's constant need to track them down would occur. Though Dustnose knew to keep those thoughts to himself. He wasn't to keen to the idea of being on Stormstar's watch list. Maybe those cats had the right idea in leaving to make their own clan.
Grunting at himself the elder tom glanced up towards the sky as a cool breeze swept through the camp, settling in his bones. Great StarClan how he hated these every changing seasons. Was it to much to ask for sunny warm weather? His aching bones needed the suns warmth to help get him moving through out the day.Well, what little moving he could do confined in this camp. Now Dustnose knew he was lucky to have lived so long and see many of his kin grow up and become successful warriors and have kits of their own. What he did not enjoy, however, was being stuck here all day. No prey to catch to battles to fight. It was a rather dull life to live. The tom felt rather useless. Though, if anyone were to ask him, he'd say he still had the spirit of a warrior.
"Going to fight the air now too?" a voice sounded from his left. Looking away from the sky Dustnose let out a huff at Scorchpaw, though his eyes held a spark of warmth. "One always needs to be prepared." he responded before eying the squirrel at Scorchpaw's feet. "I didn't see you eat yet so I thought I'd save you the trip." Scorchpaw stated as he pushed the mouse towards the elder. Giving a purr of thanks Dustnose began to eat while Scorchpaw trotted off to go mingle with his clan mates. Scorchpaw picked up a small mouse from the fresh-kill for himself, eyes scanning the camp before he made his way over to one of his fellow apprentices. "Pheow Spewwofaw." he said between a mouthful of mouse before dropping down across the she-cat and placing the mouse at his paws. If Dustnos had been close by at the interaction Scorchpaw knew he'd probably get a lecture in manners but Scorchpaw was always eager for conversation and somethings couldn't help but speak out what was on his mind. Even if it involved a mouthful of prey. "How was training?" he asked, this time his words clear.
"Great I'm guessing since you almost took out our Clan's deputy." Scorchpaw teased, his multi colored orbs lit up with amusement. StarClan surely blessed Sparrowpaw on that one. For if it was Stormstar she can tumbled into, only their ancestors knew what kind of reaction he would of have. His black ringed tail twitched slightly before curling around his paws as he took his first bite of his mouse
///
Miststreak felt unease ripple through her pelt, through it was a usual feeling she got whenever leaf-bare was here. The cold and lack of prey made the she-cat feel as if her skills were constantly being put to the test Trying to make sure she was good enough to hold her title as a warrior. Now with FloodClan out and about trying to not only steal land and prey, Miststreak felt even more unease. Though she hoped those mouse-hearts showed their faces. She'd show them just how wrong they were for betraying the clan in the first place. Bunch of dung faces. Tail flicking with annoyance the she-cat decided to direct her thoughts somewhere else. "Don't think to hard Miststreak, you may hurt yourself." came the sound of her brother's voice. Letting out a snort she turned her gaze onto her brother, swiping him in the face with her tail. "I believe mother's lesson was not to be rude Wolfspirit." she said in a light teasing tone. "She said that to you, not me, if I recall." he pointed out and Miststreak just let out a huff. Details details. Wolfspirit settled himself beside his sister, content of soaking up the suns' warmth for as long as he could. For the moment everything seemed quiet and peaceful but the tom knew it wouldn't last long. Not with all the current events that were happening. Especially with how eager some were to sink their claws into those who belonged to FloodClan.ooc ;; sorry for a lame first post, just trying to get into the swing of things
⁙⁙ SPARROWPAW ⁙⁙ DawnClan Apprentice ⁙⁙Sparrowpaw felt very proud of herself that Shadowstone had praised her so highly, and she found herself imagining what it would be like to be a deputy. That had never really crossed her mind before, but the more she thought about it, the more desirable it seemed. So she made a mental goal to work as hard as she could be become the best warrior and then eventually deputy. Then, who knew? Perhaps even leader.
The little apprentice looked up at the muffled sound of her name and recognized Scorchpaw as he sat in front of her with his own meal. "Oh, hello, Scorchpaw," she mewed in response, realizing that she'd hardly touched her squirrel. So she dove in for a few more bites as her den mate spoke. Her tail twitched in annoyance as he teased her about her encounter with Shadowstone. She really had been lucky that it was him she'd bumped into. "For your information, training was great," she replied, a little bitterly. "Petalfall says I've made a lot of improvement. And I bet it won't be much longer before I'm made warrior." At her last statement she held her head high, her confidence built up higher than it had ever been before. "How about you, did you get to go train today?"
Sheesh, what crawled into her fur and bit her? Scorchpaw was only teasing with the she-cat. He didn't mean anything by it. Scorchpaw just liked to tease and joke around. Traits that got him scolded on more than one occasion, and he was working on watching what he said, but sometimes the russet colored tom couldn't help it. He wasn't going to take her bitter words to heart though. He was sure if Sparrowpaw had an issue with him she wouldn't have a problem in letting him know. "Oh yeah? That's great!" he said, excited for his fellow apprentice. "You defiantly deserve it." he told her with sincerity. If anyone did it was Sparrowpaw. She worked hard. Not that Scorchpaw himself didn't. He could feel it in his paws that he would be a good warrior one day, and one day soon. It was just that Sparrowpaw seemed to train like she had something to prove.
At her question Scorchpaw felt his pelt grow warm out of shame. "Oh, uh. My mentor had me look after the elders today, and we hunted instead of trained for fighting." he was a bit discouraged by the fact. Scorchpaw knew Dustnose was growing old and he had no idea how much longer he'd make it. Though if Dustnose had any say in it he would keep kicking for a hundred moons more if he could. Scorchpaw just really wanted Dustnose to be around so he could make the older tom proud when Scorchpaw finally became a warrior. "But tomorrow looks promising." no way was he going to fall behind. Especially not when everyone seemed so tense and ready to fight, now that FloodClan was a thing. Scorchpaw himself didn't really understand the severity of the issue but he would do what was needed for his clan. That was the warrior way after all.
⁙⁙ SPARROWPAW ⁙⁙ DawnClan Apprentice ⁙⁙Sparrowpaw purred at Scorchpaw's elation to her success, all evidence of her irritation gone. "Thanks! I sure hope Stormstar sees how much I've improved. Hey! Wouldn't it be neat if we became warriors at the same time?" Scorchpaw was the only denmate that seemed to look past her size and simply see her for a hard working apprentice. He was probably the closest thing she had to a friend. The other apprentices appeared to just tolerate her rather than befriend her. But Sparrowpaw had a feeling that things would be different once she became a fierce warrior. The others would definitely treat her with more respect. Especially if she one day became leader.
When Scorchpaw 's demeanor fell as he answered her question, Sparrowpaw looked at him quizzically, knowing that there was no shame in helping the elders, even though it wasn't exactly her favorite thing in the world. "Well hey," she mewed as she finished off the last of her food. "At least you're sure to be the best hunter in the clan!" She mrrowed with a little laughter, then sobered a bit before moving to lay next to her fellow apprentice. "I bet I could ask Petalfall if you and your mentor could join us for training tomorrow if you want."
Scorchpaw lit up at the thought of it. Then again anyone could mention the word warrior and Scorchpaw's mind would be full of thoughts of what his life as a warrior would be like. Though he rather liked the idea of becoming a warrior along side Sparrowpaw. Sitting in silence as they kept guard over the camp after being named would be fun. Well, not fun. One couldn't talk then but they would at least have company. "Yeah. I'd like to see a fox try to attack the camp while we sit watch." he meowed, puffing out his chest some. The young tom, while exhilarated at the thought of becoming a warrior, knew he still had a lot to learn. Or so he was told constantly by his mentor.
Taking a few more bites of his mouth, Scorchpaw's ears flickered towards Sparrowpaw as she spoke, letting her know he was listening even if he wasn't looking at her directly. Licking his jaw as he lifted his head up Scorchpaw's tail twitched happily at the thought. He even let out a slight purr. "I don't know if you've heard but I already am." he joked before his eyes lit up at the idea. It had been a while since Scorchpaw got to train along side another apprentice. while it was nice to train against a seasoned warrior with moons of skill and training it would be nice to see how far along both he and Sparrowpaw were. To see what he needed to work on so he could be a warrior the clan needed to defend it. Watching her move next to him Scorchpaw stretched his font legs out in front of him, fetting comfortable next to the other apprentice before he voiced his agreement."If Petalfall wouldn't mind me making a fool out of her apprentice then sure. I don't mind." he teased lightly.
Scorchpaw knew Sparrowpaw was a force to be reckoned with. He didn't take her seriously once and boy had that been a mistake. She may be small but her paws sure did know how to land a blow.
  After informing Stormstar about the return of all patrols, he padded over to where his sister was and gently cuffed her over the ear. "Hello Mistfeather." He purred, ducking out of reach when she swatted her paw at him. "How was hunting?" He asked, sitting down beside the she-cat and grooming her fur. It had been a while since he'd just sat and shared tongues with his siblings, so he was going to take a little time to do so - sharing tongues with Mistfeather always helped relax him. He didn't know what it was about his sister, but she was very calming. "Not to bountiful." She murmured, smoothing down the fur behind his ear. "But that's to be expected of leafbare. So, under the circumstances I'd say we did quite well." Shadowstone nodded, pleased that they'd managed to find something to feed their clan.
The black pelted tom watched Sparrowpaw and Scorchpaw, and suddenly his mind wandered off to Leafpaw. How was she doing? Had she made it back to Floodclan alright? Stormstar said he and Ravenstrike had found the camp; had he seen his former apprentice? Could he ask? Great Starclan you mousebrain of course not! He chided himself. Asking about any member of Floodclan was a sure fire way to arouse suspicions and he couldn't do that. He was a loyal tom of Dawnclan; he just wanted to make sure cats were safe... "Shadowstone, are you alright?" Mistfeather's voice popped through his thoughts and he gave his head a shake. "Yes, I'm fine. Excuse me." He rested his nose on his sister's head before padding over to Scorchpaw and Sparrowpaw.
"Scorchpaw! Sorry we couldn't do much today." He realized that he hadn't done much with his apprentice since before he and Forestfern went to the Moonstream. Actually, when was the last time the two of them had gone out? Lately all this commotion with Floodclan was taking up a lot of his thoughts. "So I hope you're ready. Because tomorrow will be a busy day for us." He meowed. They could hunt on the way to the Great Maple, do some battle training and then gather their catches and return. Shadowstone even considered having them stay out longer than usual, to apologize for the lack of action.
ooc;; I just really wanted to post somewhere.
 DαwnClαn Lєαdєr ᴡʜᴇʀᴇxx DawnClan camp > Training hollow ᴡɪᴛʜxx Ravenstrike > Forestfern > Cliffstrike > DawnClan > Spottedpaw ᴏᴏᴄxx Turning over the day in DawnClan. Feel free to wrap up your interactions and move on to the next day. This is the day before the Gathering. xxx◢ Stormstar was pleasantly surprised when Ravenstrike accepted the prey he'd brought and chose to eat with him. Like him, she tended to enjoy solitude. At her comment on tones he found it difficult to formulate a reply. It was odd, this she cat was proving to be incredibly difficult for him to read, but instead of feeling frustrated by this he found himself instead feeling insatiably curious about her. He did let out an amused noise at her attempt at conversation. She had a unique sense of humour and he found himself liking it despite himself. But before he could reply he looked up at the sound of Forestfern addressing him.
"Excuse me, Ravenstrike." He padded over to the corner where Forestfern wished to speak. He wasn't annoyed, as he trusted her judgement in matters like this, to keep certain things from clan ears until he'd decided what to do about them. At her report he felt his tail curl slightly at the news. So DuskClan is sick. This could prove... Useful. He seemed to consider something before speaking next. "Thank you for your report, Forestfern. You were right to tell me." As his medicine cat walked away he was approached by Cliffstrike. The DawnClan leader wasn't surprised at the other tom's sentiment, but glad he shared it nonetheless. He touched his tail tip to the tom's shoulder. "Your loyalty is the lifeblood of this clan. I expect nothing less from a proud warrior of DawnClan."
Stormstar was able to finish his meal with Ravenstrike before Shadowstone approached him to tell him all the patrols had returned. Shooting the she cat a somewhat apologetic "duty calls" look, the brindle tom got to his paws before making his way over to the great stump and leaping onto it. "Let all cats old enough to climb the trees gather beneath the great stump for a clan meeting!" Waiting for his clan to gather and fall silent, he invited Spottedkit up to the platform with him.
"Spottedkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Spottedpaw." Stormstaw watched the kit's excitement as she scanned the crowd for her mentor. He cleared his throat in a gentle reminder for her to turn her attention back to him. "I will be your mentor. I hope to someday pass down all I know on to you." Stormstar curled his tail around his paws, knowing he truly meant those words and not being able to help but wonder what kind of warrior that would make her. "I am ready to take on another apprentice, may you be more loyal and dutiful than my last. I have received excellent training from Flintmask, and I hope to pass on all I have learned from him and more to you." With that he bent to touch his nose to hers, as the clan erupted in celebratory shouts of his new apprentice's name.
The evening passed quickly after that and most cats retired to their dens, Stormstar included. The next morning the DawnClan leader rose early, wanting to begin training with his new ward. Nosing his way into the apprentice's den, he couldn't help but feel gigantic in the smaller den, having to crouch more than usual to enter it. "On your feet, Spottedpaw." He waited for the apprentice to stir and acknowledge him before padding out of the den.
"This is the hunter's crouch." Stormstar dropped low on his paws as he stalked a few paces before straightening. "Now you try." He watched his apprentice silently for a moment. "Try it again. Lower this time, and don't raise your tail. The lower you are the better balanced you are, and raising your tail alerts your prey where you are." He watched her practice a few times more before stopping her. "Your form's improving, so we'll move on to your pounce. I want you to pounce and catch this." He held up a leaf speared on one of his claws. When he said "begin" he retracted the claw and watched her. The corner of his mouth quirked slightly as the leaf swung out at the last minute, its fluttering movements unpredictable. But he managed to keep the amusement from his voice. "Again."
They trained until mid morning, but Stormstar could see the fatigue and hunger making her movements sloppy so he decided to end on a particular good stalking pounce. "Well done. That's enough for today, the hunting patrol should have gotten back by now. I want you to bring some fresh kill to an elder and then take some for yourself." He turned as he dismissed her, clearly not heading back to camp himself. Before he passed her he touched his tail tip to her shoulder in a reassuring gesture before padding through the underbrush, the leaves closing definitively behind him.
