Zinkenite grew still, he stopped, still as a coiled snake. "Do not... ever... tell me what to do Lieutenant, not in or out of uniform."
His voice was tight...
"You can -request-...but if you ever order me around again make no mistake I will use your guts for garters only after removing anything and everything you have ever cared about from this world."
He grabbed the front of Ilumenite's uniform shirt and hauled him along. "And if you make a joke about 'garters' I -will- fold you in half and stuff you into a trash barrel."

Sadly, his new lieutenant didn't look properly quelled. To the contrary -- he looked about to mouth off again, about to say something sarcastic or dismissive or rude or possibly even all three. He was fortunately cut off by the hand in the front of his shirt, forced to stoop and scramble after Zink, hissing out a frustrated sound. And genuinely surprised by the force behind that grip.

"WHY did I do this again, I KNEW you were a risk, I knew you were mouthy but NOOOO... I thought it was better that you weren't senshi fodder. Dear GOD what the hell was I thinking..." He snarled aloud as though Ilumenite weren't even in Ear shot when he so clearly was.
"ALRIGHT." He said slowing down again at last and letting Ever stand up strait. "Find a target, somewhere safe preferably since we don't know if they are a** holes or worse... and then you touch them, you concentrate on the energy, by touch you will be able to draw the energy out of them one person at a time."
He held up a small 'pearl' to show to Ilumenite. "THIS is what you get, if you drop it the energy returns to them, if you EAT it, you gain that energy, if you are hurt it will help you heal. I am not teaching you yet how to remove a starseed because I have no viable targets on this end of town...even if someone tries to mug us because there COULD be negating factors... kill us is something different then its defense. I don't like violence, if your into it make sure you clean up after or I will turn you over to Tanzinite for special training with 'arm'."

Ilmenite blinked at that, reaching up to adjust his collar, pull his shirt back into place, smooth a palm across his cheek, and bite down on more sarcastic words. Instead he sucked in a deep breath, rolling his shoulders down and into place and peering down off the roof.
"No. Not big on violence. You want me to find someone, touch them, concentrate on the energy, and pull out a small luminous pearl." He was smart, at least, and only sounded a little skeptical. "Does it matter where I touch them?"

"...if you touch them somewhere perverted I will kill you here and now." He said without missing a beat.
"The pearl forms in your hand, just don't drop it...you'll be given a quota depending on ability, and yes...you should be delighted to know that depending on your target you may liberate them of their funds and go get yourself absolutely -smashed- so long as you get your duties done and don't go into a bar -in uniform-."

"...but I know a few bars where this uniform would fit in perfectly." He raised an eyebrow at that, looking down again, and then shook his head -- starting for the fire escape. As interesting as it would have been to just drop off, who knew exactly how much he could actually take. Didn't want to play moron...
"You going to stand around and watch?" He eased around the corner, not looking terribly worried. Worst case, he'd mess up.

"I will be -right- here, I will not hold your hand, I might give you a gold star."
The answer was partially sarcastic but also half serious, he would be right here, if nothing else it was 'moral' support for the newest recruit.

Moral support except -- except, well, weirdly, this didn't seem to bother his new recruit that much. Ilmenite blinked, shrugged, and then started down the fire escape, grumbling as he struggled on the ladder, really loathing just about everything about those damned shoes. Hopefully he'd get used to them.
He dropped down off of the bottom rung and then slipped away from Zink. Here, at least, he was clear on his mission, and on his choices. Either find someone peddling or someone buying, and after a moment's stretch, he went for buying. Remarkably easy to blend in, but it took him a while: his General'd be waiting a good twenty minutes before someone got the balls to approach.
He was neither subtle nor shy. Ilmenite caught someone's attention and drew them back down Zink's alley with a quick gesture, hesitating just a moment as his hand settled against the man's chest. This time, he wasn't the one stealing a rough kiss, he was the one fighting it and breaking it.
He wasn't smooth, nor elegant, and the man gasped in surprise as Ilmenite tipped his head down and hunted after a kernel of energy. He looked as shocked as his squicky stranger when he held the small bead in his hand, and the man dropped to his knees.

"..D.... Did....you... just..." Zinkenite started to say, there was a small twitch at the corner of his eye, however he couldn't argue that the method was effective, and it reminded him far too much of a preying mantis, which frankly gave him the willies.
"... I'm going to make you get regular check ups at the clinics, I hope you know that." He managed after a moment of trying not to think of just how many disgusting things might have contacted the would be 'patron' of the 'not really a prostitute', Ilmenite.

"...well, I thought I'd...I thought I was going to need some time." To be fair, his lieutenant looked baffled, staring down at the little pearl and then blinking his confusion up at Zink. He offered it over, shoulders rolling in a somewhat-uncomfortable shrug.
"I didn't realize how fast it'd happen. I don't know. It should have been harder than that..." He actually seemed a little weirded out, now that it was done.

"...It's just energy... It's not their life..." He said and shook his head. But that was only half true...after all taking a life from a civilian was not 'hard' either, not in the physical sense, it was the wondering if you made the right choice that lingered with you after.
Zink didn't feel bad about anyone he had targeted, he felt confidant that each and every fratboy, adulterer, abusive son of a b***h or drug-pushing vagrant had it coming.
His rank only helped soothe that guilt.
"Hard for us is becoming what we are, all that pain?... Wait till you rank up...You suffer for the right to fight for your world."

He had to blink into focus at that, looking up at Zink again and shaking off the last of his uncertainty. That was quite a tirade, and one that seemed more introspective for the little general than intended for Ilmenite. "Uh, no. I mean. If it's that easy..."
He made a rolling gesture, flicking one brief look down to the man at his feet and shaking his head just a little. "Why don't you just go to a club and pick off everyone at the edge of the dance floor? Couldn't you get a hell of a lot more if you do that?"

"...ah..." He said and then shook his head. "Because people DO Notice bodies piling up around people, If you were careful you could, but I do something similar to that actually."
He pushed back the sleeve of his coat to show a sort of 'wrist mounted sling shot' thing... a draw that could lock or bend went from his wrist back just enough that it was easy to reach without too much fussing. But what was odd was the glint of red set to the back of it as though it had been fused to the odd contraption.
"That... let's me assume the appearance of people... even myself should I want to appear to be a civilian, though that is more risky."
He waited amused for the reaction.

It didn't click. Not yet. Ilmenite was too caught up in thinking about that, trying to come up with a better plan than just grabbing people who were dancing and letting them slump to the ground. He flicked the gem a look, but mostly stored away the comment for later, continuing on the same tired.
"Okay, but. What if you went to a booth full of, say, girls at a bachelorette party." It was the best example he could come up with for a large group drinking too much. "You sidle in there, tap them all, and people'll just assume they drank too much..."
Oh. And there it was. Not a fully formed realization, but his eyebrows knitting like something had occurred to him.

"...You... in a Booth full of Girls? Good cover I admit..." He promoted with a cheshire smile fighting for dominance behind his mask.
"It is a good idea, I use it in some of the Gymnasiums, people assume they had a Energy-shot crash... or just worked themselves too hard. A few even were just assumed to be faking it."
The confession also explained some of the gossip about town about a mysterious 'gym pandemic' sleeping sickness.
