[Obligatory Brackets] Victum Soul [Obligatory Brackets] I have a conflict with my parents about fashion as well.
I'm a gothic lolita. Go google if if you don't know it... ^_^;;
Ignoring the title, the style does not have anything to do with child molestors or the book. Seriously. xd
But it took a long time before my mother stopped thinking I was bluffing... is a very deceiving term. Many people relate it, as you said, to child molesting and/or *****. I know it is not about that, and I think that style is cute. Hey? what's wrong with girls looking like cute girls??? That' why many of my girl friends that like that style refer to it as 'cyber goth'. Cyber goth, to me, brings up an ENTIRELY different image. And not a good one.
xd I know, but average people don't understand what gothic lolita or cyber goth are. Just the second name sounds less 'agressive' to them.

Back on the topic of parental harrassment. I think most of us have had that issue, but i find it funny that neither of my parents ever cared abotu my look.my step-mother did, but i realy don't care about that.but on the other hand I am the only christian in the family. I instead got it from the church. I went to a very liberal church. the Pastor never gave me anytruoble. but the people there did. I was forced for conviniance i stopped wearing my makeup. although i can't figure out why so many people think that what we do is wrong. The way i see it do what you do and we'll all meet up in the end. I'm waiting to meet up with the catholic church ladies (back before i found the other church i was an altar boy) in heaven just to say, "People who dress like that are evil and never going to .... where now?". theyt don't matter only God matters.

That is exactly my story. My parents never bugged me for wearing what I like. Except my piercings (which got removed by myself)

I had an easy way of getting around the piercing thing. aside from the one in each earlobe none of mine are visible,(actualy whn i wear my hair down in front of my ears none of them are. i keep my piercings hidden under clothes and no one can say anythign about them.

look, back when i was a younger teen i thought i'd be cool and my own person by "gothing" out.but i figured somthing out about goth's in general.real goths/emo's are whiny,egotiscal,idiotic,close minded drones who are just as bad as the "jocks" or "preps" or whatever the hell else the cliqe's are these days.its all bullshit,the music,the clothes,the scene,the mind set is all crap.be yourself whe you find yourself DO NOT EMULATE SOMEONE YOU THINK LOOKS COOL BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY ARENT

ehh, i stopped arguing with my mom. now i listen to evanescence while she complains (thank GOD that i finally got an ipod).
just get some red shirts and a yellow one and never wear them (worked for me sweatdrop )

My parents ALWAYS complain about my "darker" outfits, they think its evil, and it really bugs me because they're basicly saying they're not satisfied with who i am... the way i've always seen it is. prove to me that it's evil and i will stop. that line always works. especialy on christian parents because there isn't anywhere in the bible where it says not to dress gothic.

ahem....this is common, but you also have to realize that your....uh " 'rents"
are just reacting upon the stereotype of the "typical goth".
this is what my friend did....
her dad would literally tell her, when she dressed goth (and it covered up everything) "No, go back in your room and change!"
well, she went extreme: she dressed herself in a slutty barely-covers-the-a** pink skirt, a white tube top that showed her belly button and almost her breasts, and high heels and a bunch of streetwalker style "light-colored" make-up. And then she walked back out in the living room.
needless to say, he freaked out and told her to change, SHE said "you said not to dress GOTH" and from then on he never questioned her outfits again.

my parents are ok with my dress. heck, my dad's the one who got me into this stuff. but its my raver outfit they dont like. they say its too colorful and rainbowy, they think its kinda gay pride. none of them are me but this is the style.  i just say im expressing myself. so now they think im gay. just be careful what u say

Explain to them that forcing you to be something you're not and calling you satanic and stuff will push you farther away from them and you'll grow up resenting them. Tell them they should also be ashamed of themselves for not trusting you. They must think they did a horrible job raising you if they think you're gonna become an evil person just by gaining alittle freedom.

My parents are pretty understanding... mom even goths out with me sometimes. sweatdrop I just enjoy darker colors too. They're soothing. White and pink totally stress me out. stare But my granna is like that. "Dear, why are you getting into all this 'dark' stuff? Are you trying to make a statement?" scream No!! It's just a part of my personallity! Deal with it!!!
But at any rate, as long as you don't spend your nights chanting to summon spirits with black magic, sweatdrop there is no reason your goth-dom will come between you and God. 3nodding
