@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ She made her way away from the other battle, she kept it just on the edge of her vision, not want to be caught unawares by whomever won the battle. She did not head for the Travelers Cave, for if the victor of the battle made their way there she did not want to be caught in a dead in. Ever careful, she stayed in open ground. Ash also kept the man in her view at all times. She did not perceive him as a threat any longer, but nor did she trust him. She signed her thoughts without thinking. -To trust is to put your life in someone else's hands. It opens yourself up for a dagger in the back or betrayal. Father taught you that lesson the hard way.-
She often spoke to herself in this manner. It was as if another person was their speaking to her, but often it was just remnants of lessons her father or other soldiers had taught her while her father was alive. She spoke as she walked. "What is your name? And what are you doing out here? She did not particularly care who, or why, but it seemed the correct way to start a conversation. She wasn't much interested in conversation either, but how else are you supposed to get information about someone you just met? That was another lesson she had been taught- Always know the enemy. This man was not an enemy, but he may become one easily. She kept that thought firmly in her mind. He is not a friend. 'If injury should be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared.'

<---Io Terra---> xxxIt made little sense to Io when this woman asked for his name and reason, as she seemed uninterested in either subject. Maybe she wasn't a people person and didn't know how to be social, he thought, or she could possible be passing time. At first he considered answering, but he just couldn't help but feel uncomfortable telling her about things she was uninterested in. Instead, he decided to counter with his own question, hopefully one that will make this conversation more interesting. "I would tell you, but I'm afraid it would simply bore you. How about something more... you?" Io really couldn't think of any other word. "Where did you learn to fight like that?"
xxxSomthing else sparked at the back of his mind, making Io answer the question first. "My skills are self taught, taken from knowledge on tomes and through trail and error." He only answered first because he once again remembered how she may not like the question for a question game, although she may have been a good player. He observed her figure; tall, lean, but what he noticed the most was the way she walked. Her stride was practiced and well balanced, as if it had gone through heavy physical training. He wondered how much information she had gotten on him just by what she saw, yet had to wait for her to answer his question.

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ She walked on, not really paying attention to where she was going, heading in a general direction away from the camp they had destroyed, and keeping parallel to the battle still going on. Ash watched, her face expressionless as the elementalist considered how to answer her question. She knew her passionless voice and uncaring demeanor put most people at ease and that she seemed to not care about anything. Which was all entirely true. She didn't appear to be passionate or care about anything other than her fighting. That passion was evident in the fact that she was restless whenever outside of battle, and was seen any time she fought.
She listened to him explain that his skills were self taught, and that he had learned them through books. 'He learned to fight through tomes...' She scoffed inwardly and shook her head slightly.
"My skills are a combination of being taught by my father, other soldiers, and... others, and then I taught myself the finer points and techniques. Now, who are you?" She more demanded then asked him, becoming slightly impatient with the answering a question with a question. 'If injury should be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared.'

<---Io Terra---> xxxIo wasn't sure how to lead on this conversation, whether he should press in even further or just answer her pointless question. At first he feared her, but ever since she 'taught' him that lesson, he was sure that he had nothing to be afraid of. His reasoning being simple, if she was going to kill him, she would have already (or have at least tried). He was even tempted to see if he could get her to answer first, yet found that she would just as likely jump into a pool of acid. So he insisted on just asking a question again, pressing his luck even more so.
xxx"So, I've heard that the fastest a caravan ever got through this desert has been one week..." Io paused, trying to judge just how annoyed this woman may be. After a small thought, he figured that maybe he will tell her his name. To him, it carried no value or heritage, so no harm could come from it. "But I, Io, have gotten not only out of this desert in less than a day, but to the great harbor city of Loy in that very same day."
xxxIo had to choose his next words carefully, as this secret was one of great power, and should not be known to everyone. He wasn't going to teach this lady how to do it, but he wondered if he should take her along if she was planning on leaving the desert any time soon. "Would you like me to show you how I did it?" It felt that this way, he could still keep his secret and not waste time just walking.
((I f'ed up, forgot your bio, and thought it was a completely different person... just ignore that part of my last post, i'll edit it sometime (yay procrastination!).))

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ She took her time, examining the surroundings as they walked. She shifted her bag into a more comfortable position on her back. She carried very little and the bag hung loosely. It was so loose that it could be mistake for empty. She had some food supplies and water skins, but she didn't eat or drink much really. She and her father had lived on one soldiers rations as they did not recognize a young girl. Since her father died she only ate when she could steal food as she would never stoop so low as begging. A little ways away she stopped, sliding the bag off her shoulder and dropping it onto the ground.
She started stripping out of the blood-spattered armor she wore and took her time in answering him. As soon as she had gotten out of the armor and was standing in nothing more then her underclothes, which consisted of a tight fitting, long sleeved shirt and a pair of tight, long pants as well she turned to reach into her bag. From it she pulled out her outer clothes. Once dressed she turned to look at the man, Io, again.
She decided there was no harm in seeing how he traveled through the desert so quickly, perhaps it would allow her to learn more about him. "Sure, go on and demonstrate."
As soon as the words left her mouth, her hands started subconsciously signing. -He is not your ally, do not trust him.- It was as if a part of her did not like the fact that she was becoming to set aside her suspiciousness and to almost trust Io. The side taught by her father perhaps. 'If injury should be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared/'

<---Io Terra---> xxxA smile grew onto Io's face, a general pleasantness radiated from him. "Okay, then follow me." He turned towards the all too familiar dune of sand that held Traveller's Cave and began to walk towards it. His strides seemed to have become stronger with confidence, as he felt that he may have gotten to her. Yet at the same time, he knew he was going to need to explain why they were going towards this cave.
xxx"So," Io began his long babble, "if you remember in fairy tales about how there are magical places that can do certain things if other certain conditions are met, right?" His question being rhetorical in this case. "Well, it turns out that there are many places like that all around the world... Traveller's Cave being one of them." He peered back, just to see if the girl was still with him before he continued. "There have been numerous texts that had indicated almost seventy-two other, identical, caves all around Aytheria. This only made historian believe that these caves were made by the same civilization when instead, through further research, I had found out that the same small group of people made them." During his lengthy explaination of which texts he had gathered his information, his arms were waving wildly and he personally did seem to notice much else other than what he was explaining. "And after numerous trials, I finally found out that Traveller's Cave, and other caves of it's design, have the ability to travel instantly between those caves."
xxxDuring his fever pitched explaination, he had almost talked the entire way as Traveller's Cave was insight as the sun began to set.

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ She picked her bag back up and slung it over her shoulder. Ash followed Io back in the direction of the Traveler's Cave. An eyebrow raised as she noticed that, with a purpose, his strides lengthened, his shoulders straightened, and there was an air of confidence about him that there hadn't been previously. 'He would make a great leader in this time of war' She thought. Some part of her mind snarled at that thought, that she held anything other than spite or distrust for another human being.
As soon as he began his explanation she was immediately lost. Sure, she knew magical places existed, but that was as far as her knowledge went. She never heard any fairy tales growing up, her father was a warrior and her mother died soon after she was bored. She had no friends and trained all day, slept from after to dusk to before dawn and never had time for fairy tales. After her father died, she took to the streets, barely scratching out a living. She decided to go along with it anyway, he was explaining it anyway.
He looked back to make sure she was with him and he was met with a smirk. Io couldn't lose her even if he tried. Ash watched his arms flailing and made a mental note not to stand too close when he spoke. She almost laughed aloud, but stopped and it sounded more like a strangled snicker. She gave herself a mental shake. Now was not the time to be letting down her guard. This man, this Io, could quickly turn into an enemy and it would not do to be caught unawares when he did. There was no 'if' about it, everyone she had ever known had become an enemy one way or another and was dead either by the soldiers hands or by her own forced hand.
As he finished she scowled thoughtfully. There was something he wasn't telling her. "How did you find out that these caves were connected?" If injury is to be done to a man, it should be so great that his vengeance need not be feared.

<---Io Terra---> xxxThe last question made Io stop, never really thinking about how he always solved problems in comparison to just figuring out. He turned and faced his new companion, his head cocked sideways and his face smacked with thought. Then Io dropped to the ground, into a cross legged seating position as he began to rummage through his bag that had carried quite the number of books. "Well, while reading about these places and seeing Traveller's Cave myself, it gave small proof to them being connected or magical. It only gave proof, as I said, that the same people made them." Now he was pulling a book out the backpack, only to set it down on the sand, then went back to his search.
xxx"Then I read a book by a man that others would call mad, as his tales were farfetched back with little to no proof." Io then looked up into her eyes, "I guess I just decided to believe in him..." He then looked into his bag and pulled another book out of it, a smile appearing on his face, a smile filled with success. "This is the book that made me try, and now that he was correct on one story, I wish to see just how much is true." Putting the other book away, he got up and approached his new comrade and handed her the book. "Here, I have it just about memorized, maybe one day you will find one of the items he talks about and you will be the one to get it to work."
xxxIo felt a little silly in his reasoning behind his conclusion, that him just believing it may be true was good enough to him. Every time he saw this girl's expression, he thought of a child hiding themselves under a bed. Afraid of what might be, and never finding out what is.

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ Ashlynn watched bemused as Io suddenly stopped. He turned abruptly to face her and she smirked. She was befuddled even further as he sat cross-legged. He started rummaging through his bag and as he did so, he spoke to her. This confused her, for no one had ever bothered to explain what they were doing to her, not her father, and certainly not... the other, who had taught her the finer points of being an assassin. "Well, while reading about these places and seeing Traveller's Cave myself, it gave small proof to them being connected or magical." 'I wonder how just him seeing this place told him it was magical.' She kept quiet though, and that was an odd thing, even to herself. If she wanted information, she would normally demand it.
"It only gave proof, as I said, that the same people made them." He now pulled out a book. Ash thought that perhaps he was done now, but he merely placed it in the sand and went back to his bag. She listened as he spoke of a man, perhaps rightly called mad, and when he looked up at her, when she looked into her eyes, something in that hard shell around her heart, cracked. Her eyes softened, and a true smile, not one full of mockery or a smirk, almost made it's way onto her face.
He pulled out another book, replacing the first and got up, handing her the second book. At first she just stood there, staring at him as if rooted to the spot. Ashlynn didn't know what to do, no one had ever given her anything before. Not a gift, her father had given her the axes she now kept strapped to her sides and He had given her many lessons about people. How they would betray you if they could... She reached out and took the offered book slowly, running her fingers over the cover and down the spine softly. She handled the book with care, placing it in her bag and looking at the one who'd given it to her.
She spoke gently, unlike the harsh tone that is her norm. Thank you, Io. My name is Ashlynn Fervine, by the way. 'If injury is to be done to a man, it should be so great that his vengeance need not be feared.'

A⋘⋘Nid Nevero⋙⋙Ω Before Kira could react Nid was long gone. As he wondered off he counted the mins. untill it was midnight so that he could summon more minions to kill the other camp not that far off. Knowing this though, he sent a mechanical eye ahead to find the camp and asess the situation. As the eye entered the camp Nid couldn't help but feel bad that he missed all the action. Suddenly his bloodlust and evil ideals were gone and instead he became more interested in what happened and he rished over to the now stinking camp. As he approached he noticed that the bodies were slain by at least two people and that it must have been done by masters of their skill. Upon closer examination he saw that there were two tracks left in blood that lead to a cave. He decided to follow them.

<---Io Terra---> xxxIo wasn't all too surprised that she would introduce herself, but her tone had. It was softer than how she had spoken to him initially, it seemed to suit her better than her original voice. This time he would greet her properly. "Nice to meet you Ashlynn, I am Io Terra, traveling sage." He offered a warm hand, wondering if she would repress herself back to her former attitude.
xxxHe noticed the footsteps they had left, leading up to where they were standing. Usually he would cover his tracks, but he must have so caught up in speaking with Ashlynn that he forgot all about it. Io then saw someone else who had followed them to their location, making him drop his arm and instead reach for a small piece of paper in his bag. "We have company." He nodded his head towards the creature approaching them.

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ This time he properly introduced himself and this time she did smile. It was small, a barely lifting of the corner of her lips, but it was there. He offered her a hand and the smile vanished. She had never shaken hands unless the objective was to kill the owner of the hand she was shaking. To do so now mean more to her then Io could possibly believe. She was saved from making that decision though, for Io looked back along their tracks,- She cursed herself mentally for being so stupid,- and saw someone following them. As he dropped his hand and pulled out a piece of paper from his bag she immediately unsheathed her dual axes and crouched, in a position ready to attack or defend their position, whatever the case may be. The soft expression was 100% replaced by her mask of distrust and anger at the world. Nothing in her gaze pointed to the fact that she was a changed woman, but she was. 'If injury should be done to a man it should be so great that his vengeance need not be feared.'

A⋘⋘Nid Nevero⋙⋙Ω As Nid approached he noticed that the two srange firgures were ready to fight. Not the least inclined to start a fight with strangers he raised his hands in a universal sign of surrender and yelled, "I am but a simple Tin Man that desires to learn." He said with hopes that they don't notice his necromancer half and assume he was the enemy. With those few words he could tell that he was being sized up and tried to look as miniscule as possible with his shoulders slumped, eyes shifting down, and legs shaking a bit. He hoped that they didn't think of him as a threat as he was powerless to stop them.

<---Io Terra---> xxxIo's natural personality was at conflict with his observations. Frankly, he liked to share and spread his knowledge with others, and hopefully he would learn something new himself. Yet, the man who stepped infront of them was only breathing to speak, his pulse nonexistant, and what he feared most was what was going on at the other camp before he and Ashlynn headed towards this destination. The man was only half living, and only told the half truth when he mentioned his machine parts. Most necromancers were Barthulian, yet he has seen some throughout his travels that were not hostile, but this one... Io can almost see three shadows behind him, three different men occupying the same body. It wasn't unheard of, and if it weren't for some of Io's unique abilities, he would never had noticed. What bothered Io the most though was the fact he could not read the pulse, no way of easily telling if this creature was lying or not. His charade was obvious, but his words will be much more difficult.
xxxIo leaned over towards Ashlynn, cautiously though, her pulse had changed and so had her aura. He didn't want her to think him traitorous, he whispered "The man is hiding something, but does not seem to have the desire to hurt us." He inhaled momentarily, and then added, "Yet, more than one person occupies his mind, and we have to be very cautious." He was unsure what Ashlynn would do, but he backed up slowly away from her, yet staying in her field of vision. The wind picked up slightly and the sand shifted with the gentle breeze.

@->->---- Ashlynn Fervine ----<-<-@ Despite what the- what was it, a man? said, Ashlynn didn't let down her guard. She remained standing in a defensive position, lip curled up in a sneer. The moon was full in the sky and the night was clear, she had no problem making out the figure that was the stranger. He held his hand in front of him, a sign usually taken as surrender, but Ash deepened her stance. There had been many that tried that ruse on her before. It had never once worked yet.
"I am but a simple Tin Man that desires to learn." With those words she distrusted him further, 'Tin Man?' The only time she had heard that term it called for bad news. His shoulders appeared slumped, his eyes on the ground, and... his legs were shaking? She shook her head briefly. 'He's over playing it,' she thought. 'He's not nearly as weak as he appears.'
Io leaned toward her and she had to bite her tongue to keep from snarling at him. "The man is hiding something," as if she didn't know that. "but he does not seem to have the desire to hurt us." That was yet to be seen.
"Yet, more than one person occupies his mind," Huh, that was a new one. She hadn't seen that in awhile. "and we have to be very cautious." No, really? When was she not cautious? "We", hm? She wasn't too sure how she felt about that but, there wasn't time to analyzed her feelings.
She spoke darkly, back to her original tone. "Don't let down your guard, whatever you do. If indeed more than one share his mind, he may become violent at a moment's notice. Even if he only possess' one persona you still must be wary, the title 'Tin Man' carries bad news. " There was nothing left of the softness in her voice, and nothing to think it would ever be back again.
