Hmm i guess the easiest answer to the unoriginal names is--people like anime characters or the really overused names. sweatdrop
My name is totally made up hehe No it doesn't mean that i like to be 'tied up' or anything... xp But i just made it up for a character in my book, and use it as a screen name for most places i visit. The cool thing about making up a totally original name is that when you go to a forum or whatnot--you can almost always use it because it hasn't been taken. 3nodding

my thoughts on the name issue are that, well in my case this is how i feel, im 21 and ive been internet obsessed since we first got computers like a decade ago. we've always had the internet and ive had AIM long as i can remember. we've had AOL, ERol's, Netzero, MSN, Prodigy, now Comcast...I've had all of it and ALWAYS there is a reason to make a new screen name, account name, or e-mail addy.

i used to spend hours thinking these up trying to make the most original coolest one, once i had Cailihporcen for awhile which was Necrophiliac backwards! i had some crazy ones and no one could figure them out.

but now i belong to SO many forums, have so many sn's and email addys i now only use the same 3 names. only 1 of which i think is the most original because i am too lazy to worry about it now.

Blakkfetus is the first one i still use, primarily for my e-mail and account user names. it has a personal meaning i dont want to discuss all i can say is the meaning isnt gory and creepy like it sounds its the complete opposite.

Next is this one, MoogleXrez. i am a ridiculously HUGE final fantasy fan. so Moogle is on the account that they are my fave FF creatues, "X" is because FFX was one of my faves (and yes i have them ALL), and "rez" is because the game Rez (originally on Dreamcast now a super-rare hard to find PS2 game which i paid $60 for used on ebay! ((but in mint conditioN!))) is so totally kick a** and awesome. so this must be the least original.

and lastly my Final Fantasy XI name: Nekotaru. easy. my character is a TArutaru so thats obviously where the "taru" part is from. "Neko" is japanese for cat, and my real name is Kitty and im obsessed with cats biggrin

My name is original, but not very original due to the fact it is derived from a video game character in Final Fantasy 8 known as Squall. However, I have added a mere extra letter: y. Thus, it is unique in that sence.

I'm not sure where my name came from... I think I got bored and said Alice in Videoland sounds cool. I guess it's original.

Why do you think more than 3/4 of Gaia has to have a username with some character from anime or games in it?

For one thing, the entire site is geared towards anime and video games, hence items like the doll ears and that naruto head band. Also I think it's because most of the Gaia population is teenaged, and teenagers tend to identify themselves by the stuff they are really into.

Then there's the fact that's pretty hard to come up with a name no one else has.

Do you think your name is original?

While the three words in my name are used alot separately, I would say my name is original because it is derived from the name and title of a character in one of my stories that is over ten years old.

What do you think makes a username original?

I'm not a big stickler on orginality in usernames...it's hard to think up a good one and when your trying to make an account you don't want to be on it all day long. The only time I really frown on a username is if it's got a huge number on it like "Alucard23" or something like that. If your the 23rd person who wanted that name....get something else, lol.

well i'm pretty sure my name is original i used to go by animewinner... ( anime was popular with me and my fav gundam wing boys last name...like i was married to him xd *so lame* so i changed it because it was lame...and everyone kept asking me if i was a girl.. stare ) i changed my name to LadyAnime .....is it original? i have no clue xd

i think that people not only take their fav anime or manga characters names to sorta "become them" but i think also because we can't all have original names.... xd *not everyone can think of ones that aren't taken*

what makes an original name? probably just thinking it up your self 3nodding

*shrugs* I suppose mine is original, it was the only name that popped into my head at the time. I use this and Angelic Bloodlust all the time now. They were somewhat strange and fit. That's all I will say.
