Leopard gecko, and other species can.
So, yes.
Scared, very stressed, or grabbed.

we have a Bearded Dragon at work but he's too spikey to cuddle with, though he is fun to hold and use as a fly-vacuum.

I feed 'em crickets too.
This morning I found my other gecko in one of the strangest positions. I'll get the picture up later.
