Shichiyou Kurayami

Shichiyou sighed after a little and looked at Hakubo. "I should probably get going..." she said and stood up. "I will see you later..." she said, then did something unexpected, and pecked him on the cheek. Then she turned and headed for the falls.

The boat pulled away into the sunset, making good time across the open waters. The Hokage held herself in reserve with as much natural poise as an earthly creature could without knowing she was doing it.
It was only in this light that you could see her deep set features. They where wrought with years of concerned expressions and smiles that lasted for days. Only time could sap the youthful glow from about her face. Even now there it sat though, hidden behind wrinkles and under her hard set expression. She had to be strong for everyone though and sometimes that means taking the road less traveled.

She had managed to book herself a small boat trip to the Snow, free of charge, but towards the end of their trip, she was on her own.
Meaning, she had to swim across. There was no way in hell they'd set foot there on enemy territory. Especially with the Tengu running amok there...
She nodded and sat herself down as she took out a cigarette from the pack that Zane had given her.
'... Waste not, want not,' she thought, lighting it as she crossed her legs, looking out onto the water.

As she looked out onto the water, she then stood up and leaned over the rail as she began to wonder just how she was going to approach this...
She thought it'd be wise to at least contact Hakubo, but she had no way of doing so. And she was already on this stupid boat.
She then looked at the few men crowding around and talking and let out a sigh as she sat back down, grabbing the guitar she had 'won' as a prize for giving a man his due.
... She didn't feel right playing it, but she knew deep down, Asano would've wanted her to play to her heart's content.
She then held it up accordingly and rested it on her knee as she began to play, clumsily, but strongly against the depth of her own feelings.
Her confliction. Her thoughts buzzing around her mind. And soon, the song began to form...
She didn't knw the lyrics of the song, or the exact strings to play, but it just came out unintentionally. And it sounded so good... so much like her...

'If you gave me just a coin, for everytime we say goodbye,
Well, I'd be rich beyond my dreams, I'm sorry for my weary life...
I know I'm not perfect, but I can smile.
And I hope that you trust this heart, behind my tired eyes...'

Keichii Shiro: the youngest Yukikage the Land of Snow had ever seen, after much trial and strife was finally making the return back home, to his village, his land, his--

Keichii dry-heaved over the side of the boat. Again.

"I HATE THE OCEAN," he moaned to the water beneath him. The water responded by splashing him in the face. It was freezing. Hey, at least that meant they were getting close.

For the sake of both convenience and stealth, the party was divided into several medium-sized boats for their journey to the continent up north. They were easy enough to obtain given they were a giant ninja army in the Land of Water.

At least something in Keichii's life was easy. OH GOD THE NAUSEA.

''Muahahaha! I want to suck yo bloood''

::Akai teased as she was hanging upside down from one of the rope lines that connected to the sails. If she only had that weird Romanian accent she'd probably sound like a female Dracula. Minus the retardation.::

''MWAAAOOOOOOR''

::She swung around on the rope making funny noises to god knows what until her feet slipped. She quickly backflipped and landed on both feet doing a small curtsy.::

''The sea is telling Akai that it dosn't like you tainting it's beautiful blue body with your dinner remains. . So Akai told it to shut the ******** up.''

::She nodded with pride thinking she had done her brother a great service. Surprisingly. .nothing really bothers Akai, Except Rakutsu and gingerbread men.::

The troops of Kirigakure made a mad-dash for the north bound shore. They passed through only one village on their trek, sticking mainly to the woods. Leaping through trees, running on the ground, some even using their own form of jutsu to fly. As they neared the the shore, a hazey silouette of a mountain range came into view in the distance. The north shore they came to was more of a cliff with an almost non-existant beach at the bottom. There was a full armada of large gondola-like boats and a group of Kirigakure shinobi were already there upon arrival. -One would nitice that the boats had no oars or any other means of steering the boats for that matter- There were easier ways down, but with boots the Mizukage lept off the cliff and slid down. They all found their own way down and once on the beach began to file into the boats. The Mizukage sat at the front of her boat and sat with her old friends. Once all were on, the group of shinobi who were already there stood at the back of their respective boats, made several handsigns and began moving the currant of the water. Their jutsu allowed the boats to move swiftly yet silently through the waters. The ninja took this time to rest themselves and regain any lost strength. They pulled out bento boxes and ate while they could. The Mizukage closed her eyes and enjoyed the spray of the water on her face. Though they all seemed momentarily relaxed, none of them spoke above a whisper. One ninja walked up to the Mizukage and bowed. "Keep the mist as far ahead of the boats as you can." she ordered. The kunoichi nodded to her kage and signaled several others on the nearby boats. As the Land of Water dissapeared from sight, so did the natural mist. The shinobi quickly performed the hidden mist jutsu, keeping the armada consealed in a shroud of fog. The kunoichi looked back at the Mizukage, who simply nodded. She made another series of hand signals to the ninja at the head of the other boats. They saw and nodded. Several shinobi wearing what looked like breathing masks dove off their boats into the water. They were to scout ahead and keep the armada up to date on where they were and if there was anyone else in their vicinity. Keizo sat near the Mizukage with his guitar in his hands, though he did not play. Everyone seemed prepared for the fight of their lives. Their eyes were stone, even Shouta's normally soft, lazy gaze was hard. His eyes locked on the fog-covered ocean ahead of them.

"So, what do you think our chances are, Lady Mizukage?" said Keizo. If he was gonna die today, he would not spend his last hours in such an uncomfotable silence.

"I'd say pretty good. At least we have an idea of what we're up against."

"So wich of us is gonna die first, do you think?"

"Are we really gonna bet on who dies?" she said with a reprimanding tone and a raised eyebrow.

"Heh. We may as well make one last bet. What'd'ya say?" the old man said with an eerie grin.

"Come on! If we bet on who dies then some of us'll get to skip out!"

"So what do you suggest then?"

"How bout a contest?" Suijin suggested. This caught their attention.

".....what kinda contest?" said Keizo, watching her from the corner of his eye.

"We keep track of how many we kill, whoever takes down the most opponents wins.... And catching the genjutsu caster..." she tilted her head to the side as she eyed the sky tryin gto come up with a suitable reward. "is worth 300!"

"Oooooh!!!" Devonte's eyes went wide with excitement.

"Kukukukukukuku!! I'm in!"

"Ditto!"

"Why not?" Shouta chuckled with a smirk. "What'll the winner get?"

"Forget the winner! What about the loser?"

"OH! Loser has to go on a streak around the village!"

"I like that idea~!" Keizo said sending a sketchy gin to the two females in the group.

"Like HELL am I gonna let ANY of you show off your naked a** to the entire village! And there's NO WAY I'm doin it!!!" The Mizukage snapped, glaring at Keizo.

"Fine! Loser gets the usu."

"I like the usu.!"

"And the winner?"

"The winner......" Devonte looked at the sky as he tried to come up with something. When he got an idea he snapped his fingers and pointed at Suijin. "get's to make out with Lady Mizukage!" the two men had to slap a hand over their mouths to stifle their laughter.

"What!?"

"Sound good ta me!"

"Yeah, I think that's appropriate."

"Sure, why not." said Nyirei smiling innocently, yet deviously.

"Nyirei????" Suijin had to try really hard to keep her voice down. Luckily, her voice never made over a loud whisper. But she had been hoping that at least Nyirei would object!

"Then it's settled." Devonte said, smirking at Suijin, knowing she was hateing this!

"Oh! What am I supposed to do when I win? Make out with myslef?!"

"When?" Shouta said inquisitively with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah." Devonte said nodding.

"Tch. You guys are ******** up!" the Mizukage grumbled. There was a soft sloshing sound as one of the under water scouts rose from the water.

"Nothing to report, Lady Mizukage. Except that we are nearing Snow. We should be arriving within two hours."

"Good work. Take a rest and dry off." The man nodded and moved towards the back of the boat. The Mizukage eyed the ocean a head of them. The group fell silent, knowing how quickly they were nearing their destination. They took that time to eat their own meals. Keizo pulled out a bottle of sake and offered it to the Mizukage. She shook her head and smiled. "Nah thanks. I'm going this one sober."

Keizo nodded in approval. "You'll do just fine kid." He grinned and said, "You're doing a great job as Mizukage. I'm proud of you, so are we all. Especially Mizuchi."

"Thanks sensei." She smirked. "Try not to die too soon, a'right?"

"Kukuku... We'll see."

''Oy! Keep it down Akai, some people are trying to nap.'' Barked Raku from the back of the boat. She found the cold to be the perfect climate for a nap. She LOVED it. of course she was used to it, she was stuck in a harsh cold climate for a couple of months. Rakutsu yawned letting out a small squeak as she sat up. ''Agh, whatever i can't sleep anyways. My chest keeps bothering me.'' she complained with a small grunt.

::Akai turned towards her sister puffing out her cheeks.::

''Hush you freak of nature!''

::She snapped at Rakutsu. Though somehow her gaze wasn't irritated at all, It was calm almost like she wanted to sympathize with Rakutsu but just couldn't. she lightly sighed and crouched down in front of Rakutsu.::

''This is going against Akai's own advise. . .''

::Unwrapping her stub's bandage she stuck two fingers in it disturbing the stitches. As it was bleeding she collected a bit of blood on her fingers. Her hand started to glow a dark red, she lightly pressed her fingers against Rakutsu's chest making a symbol that almost looked like a circle with a pentagram on the inside. But not quite. . She's not a satanist. Akai looked up into Rakutsu's eyes with a stern glare.::

''This will hurt a bit. . so shut the hell up and deal with it.''

::Without saying anything else she jabbed her fingers into Rakutsu's chest, Not penetrating the skin, Just enough where it would give her a good bruise. The circle illuminated a bright red light as it started to spin. It was extracting the blood out of her sisters lungs. Akai let a smile escape her lips as it finished.::

''You should really learn to fix this kind of thing by yourself. . Your disgracing the Shiro clan.''

::She scowled and retracted her hand. There was always a reason for acting the way she does to Rakutsu. Weather it was just being mean. Or even punishing Rakutsu for things that happened in the past. Akai was a spiteful person.::

''Well, you shouldn't have any problems now. So don't let Akai catch you spitting up more blood like a fool. . .Your a blood Jutsu user not a goddamn sick patient.''

::Akai stood up and softened her gaze on Rakutsu for only a second then let out a loud ''Hmph'' as she turned and skipped towards keichii with a big grin on her face.""

''Niiiii-saaaaaaaaannnnn!''

When Akai left she winced and grasped her chest, But it wasn't from any delayed reaction from Akaii's jutsu. It was from her heart. Her feelings were hurt from what Akai had said. It sounded just like something mother would say. . .But to hear it from Akai was just painful. Rakutsu's bottom lip quivered, she turned her head away and shifted her body away from everybody's view. It was odd to rakutsu. . How somebody could have such a drastic change of heart. Akai has been like that ever since the Tengu attacked them. (''What was her deal? maybe it was because I didn't protect Akai when the tengu were going to chop off her arm.'') she thought to herself. Rakutsu let out a aggravated sigh. Thinking about it made her head hurt. Besides there was nothing she could have done. . .right? The only person she was trying to convince was herself.

kenshin leaned with his back lazily against the boats wooden railing on his elbows as his silky red hair was tossed in the boats movement his eyes as always were shut enjoying what peace he could before arriving at the north, the claw weapon equipted to his left hand hung loosely and his large weapon behind him seemed polished with a metallic shine strapped to his back.

toy spoke with a snake like hiss in kenshins mind "you seem unsettled this isnt like you kenshin...."

kenshin had replied without speaking in reality with a calm tone "im worried about rakutsu....i said i would protect her no matter what...but what if i fail?"

toy grew silent before saying again "heheheh.....imagine...the blood to stain the bleached snow...." kenshin's reply was uncharacteristic but calm "spare noone." and toy let out an echoeing squeel of enjoyment as kenshin casually opened his eyes and stared at the sky,the clouds had let light seep out which danced vividly on the waters surface as they moved across the sky.

kenshin then yawned quietly,he had been up all night restless before toy's villanous voice had spoke to him again---"kenshin,i know that shes not the reason your unsettled....so tell me the truth." and kenshin closed his eyes and his voice sounded the same as toys....."im turning into you." and he opened his eyes and toy had not responded.....the thought of blood quenching his weapon's thirst, just sent chills down his body.a monster was stirring....was it only tine before it broke loose?...kenshin glanced warmly over to rakutsu only breaking his expression to give her a sweet smile.

The Mizukage looked over her shoulder to Kenshin and the Snow nin. She hoped they'd be able to hold out. Devonte scooted over to sit next to Lady Mizukage in a position so that no one else would hear. Nyirei and Keizo kept talking amongst themselves about the old days when Nyirei 'could do nothing but trip over her own feet and get Suijin's foot shoved in her face!' But she had grown quickly. Suijin was a bit imatient as a 'second sensei' to Nyirei, but she taught her well. Once she'd caught up to her teammates, their missions displayed exceptional development as a squad.

Bored and anxious, Shouta opted to see how Rakutsu was doing. "You alright?" he asked as he sat beside her. He seemed fairly calm. A bit worried, but who would be? Everyone had some minoot traces of nervousness. He knew what Devonte and Suijin were about to discuss, but he didn't try to stop him. If there was any time to get out any last concerns it was now.

Devonte couldn't quite figure out how to word his question, so he just let a few words slip out. "So.... what's this about you sleeping with my brother?" He said nonchalantly, not making eye contact and instead keeping his gaze in the same direction as her's- out on the sea.

Suijin's eyes snapped wide open and her head twisted sharply to Devonte. "Wha- H- Who-?" she stammered.

"Shouta had his first drink last night..." he said, grinning and rolling his eyes. He wasn't really all that upset anymore, but he thought he deserved to at least know why.

Dev's words were enough for her. Shouta had got drunk and spilled it! 'Damn!' Suijin let out a hard sigh. "Of all people, I thought he'd have been the last person to do that!" She grumbled- "So are you gonna scream bloody murder at me? Raise all Hell?"

Devonte just shook his head. "No. I just want to know why, and why neither of you told me." He was mostly fine with it. Really he was! But his eyes still looked a bit hurt. He valued trust between comrades more than anything and he couldn't see why they wouldn't tell him that Mizuchi was his own nephew.

Suijin looked a bit ashamed. She really should have told him. She always meant to, but... "I wanted a child. I wanted a child to love and raise and make them heir to the Kitagawa name but.... but without a father-"

"Oh... so that's it. Heh. I was afraid you were gonna be my sister-in-law!" he joked. He could understand that. Suijin's own father hadn't been all that loving to her after all. He remembered that...

"Hell no!" She laughed. Suijin was afraid that Dev would be furious with her hours before they went off to their possibilidoom! But just to be sure.... "So, you're not mad at us?" she asked nervously. The last thing she wanted was for him to hate her now of all times.

"Nah! I'm just surprised that my brother spawned a fish!" he jeered.

"Hey, I'm the one who did the spawning!" she chuckled. "Since you know... would you be your nephew's godfather? You know.. in case anything happens?"

"Look- nothing's gonna happen to you! Keizo, probably but you'll be fine!" Devonte frowned as he thought of his sensei being killed.... but he knew why Keizo came out here, and Dev supposed it was for the best. At least it was what the old man wanted.

"What makes you so sure?" she asked, inquisitively, raising an eyebrow. She knew what he was about to say, and his response always made her laugh.

"I know these things all right- just trust me!" he said with a mock-arrogant composure and an over-confident smirk. He chukled as Suijin just shook her head. If they had gone on it would have turned into something like- 'and how do you know?' 'I know everything.' 'You can't know everything.' 'But I'm magic!' Dev could be a bit ridiculous at times. Another shinobi pulled themself out of the water to report in.

"Anything?"

"Just fish and ice. We're moving some iceburgs out of our way as best as we can." Suijin just nodded as he bowed and went to the back of the ship where his comrade slept.

"So will you?" Suijin looked at her friend gravely. She needed to know that her son would be safe should anything happen to her and Shouta.

"Granted that i don't kick the bucket myself- sure." he said with a promising smile. He wrapped an arm around his dear friend and gave her a squeeze. She smiled and jokingly punched him in the gut.

"Oi- Mizukage! I got something for ya!" said Keizo from behind them. The two turned around as something was thrown at them. The Mizukage caught it and her eyes went wide with devious excitement.

"No way.... Where did you get this old man?" There was a monsterous tone in her voice as her lips curled into a grin.

"Found it in the woods and patched it up for ya a while back. Course I completely forgot about it till now." The object was a belt. Attatched to it were hand grenades all around it save for three loops. Suijin always prefered traditional grenades over those 'p***y paper-bombs'. She immediately pulled out her three throwing knives and fitted them into the three empty loops on the belt, then strapped it around her. Now she was ready for battle! She had her sword, her knives, her grenades and of course fists!

"Keizo my man- I owe you one!"

"Just make sure my name's never forgotten." he said with a somber grin.

Meeting his eyes she gave him a thumbs-up and said, "Done!" Then she extended her index finger and pinky and stuck her tongue out with wild eyes. The Mist nin continued to leap into the boat to report on their progress at regular intervals as planed. They were nearing the Snow much faster than the Mizukage had anitcipated. That fact made her smile. She knew the ninja of Kiri would give these Tengu a fight to remember, (or the ganjutsu caster, anyway) and she couldn't be more proud to be the Mizukage.

Keichii attempted to distract himself from his seasickness by watching the Mizukage and the crowd of Kiri ninja on the next boat over. Despite their circumstances, no, because of their circumstances, they were so energetic, so jovial, so... Keichii couldn't think of a synonym for "familial" that didn't sound awkward or sissy. He wanted to smile, but at the same time... he looked over at Rakutsu and Akai's stiff interaction.

The Land of Snow was every bit as harsh as the Bloody Mist. The wildlife; rougue ninja; even the weather was out to get them. It was every man and woman for themselves. Even within their village, clans competed to maintain power, and yet, within the clans themselves, members conspired against one another for personal gain. Keichii himself was nearly driven to madness trying to keep up with his sisters. Akai was the only one who cared about Rakutsu, tried to help her the only way she knew by training her mercilessly when the Clan learned of Rakutsu's sub-par chakra control. Look where it got them. Outcast, imprisoned, two arms between them. Now the possiblity that it could have been Rakutsu that severed their limbs hung heavily between them. Things were more tense than ever.

Normally Keichii wouldn't let it bother him; brush off the whole ordeal as white noise interferring with his own agenda. He didn't mind the isolation brought by months in prison, but after his time in The Land of Water, he noticed something new. All those mundane things; living in an apartment as a normal family; working at the hospital; even going to dinner with Kenshin and Shouta... They were all... nice.

Keichii watched Devonte laugh and hug the Mizukage, who smiled and gave him a good-natured sock to the stomach. Keichii couldn't understand that sense of comaradere, and though he'd never admit it, he wanted to.

The mist was forming ice crystals along the fur trim of his hood. The shore was probably just outside their cloudy cover. He turned his attention back to the blank white beyond the bow of the boat and pulled his hood over his head. The steel plate pinned above his forehead glittered with the symbol of the Village Hidden in the Snow.

Keichii's stomach had calmed down, but now he felt more sick than ever.

Jun was a pretty young genin, and a pretty new genin as well but apparently he was strong enough to be send into battle. This excited him. It was his chance to show off his stuff by bashing as many Tengu heads as he could, even if they may just be genjutsu. Jun put a hand on his side. The wound was still a bit sore, but he had gotten the doctors to heal it up enough for him to be discharged from the hospital early. And just in time too! He sat with his teammates and his sister/sensei. She had told them their orders, and all information on their enemy had been circulated throughout the ranks of Mist shinobi. It became progressively colder as the armada neared Snow, and Jun was shivering a bit. Not just from the cold. His fingers were practically twitching; begging to yank out his warhammer and start swinging. His hammer was pretty damn big, roughly the same size as he was and had metal spikes that circled around the middle where the handle connected. Jun looked around the boat and spotted the three Snow shinobi at the opposite end. 'Yeah... he matches the description....' He looked up at his sister. "Nee-san?" Chizu noticed where her little brother had been looking and could guess what he was implying. She nodded to his unspoken question. Chizu had seen the boy from Snow enter the room where Jun had been treated in and had been told by the nurses that he saved her little brother's life.
Jun stood up and walked over to the white haired man. He'd already asked Dr. Shouta for the mans name and had kept it memorized, permenantly etched into his brain. "Keichii Shiro?" he asked, just to be sure. He shifted the hammer on his back with his shoulder blades into a more comfortable position.

Hearing his name caused Keichii to turn around. The mist wasn't very interesting to watch anyway.

He was greeted with a kid one would normally considered way too young for this kind of mission. The hammer tipped Keichii off that this probably wasn't a normal genin. He shifted a little. The kid's hammer was way more awesome than his...

After a couple awkward seconds of Keichii-Thinking-Time, he met the genin's eyes. He was surprised at who he saw: the bleeder from the hospital.

"Huh... I remember you..." he thought out loud. Jeeze, they'd been on the boat together for nearly two-and-a-half hours and he didn't even notice the other passengers. Keichii leaned around the genin. Yup, there were at least three strangers over there. Way to go, Yukikage.
