((So sorry. x.x; Had finals, tons of papers to write...it's been a wreck. But I'm back now! Huzzah!))

Ayamae raised an eyebrow at the new arrival, a Slytherin. He introduced himself as Blake, and seemed a little less likely to set her classroom on fire than any other Slytherin.

"Welcome. If you'll take your seat, we'll start with our potion."

She looked past him and took in another new Slytherin who had just taken her seat. She looked positively disgusted to be in the room, and she seemed to be rather uncomfortable. She looked very well put-together and had an air of wealth about her. Ayamae rolled her eyes. If the girl thought this was bad, Herbology would probably be worse.

Ayamae stood and gave the chalkboard her signature harsh tap with her wand. Curling letters spilled forth from the tip, organizing themselves into instructions and ingredients. The heading read "Anti-Pestilence Potion".

((YAY! Class has begun again!))

Aludra Yvette...

Aludra has been awake, just laying there and thinking about her boring moments in Hogwarts. There had been so many and it was increasing as time went on. After seven years of being here she was running out of entertainment! At some point she would have to go mad, in fact she was almost believing herself to be insane until she saw a rather snobbish looking girl walk in. It almost reminded her a bit of herself when she was a first year. Was always too good for the lower class of things. But what Aludra saw next was ridiculous. From the new student walking in Aludra could tell she was utterly disgusted with the class, naturally it was expected and the room did have a bit of a unique musk to it, but everything was fairly clean… except for Ayamae‘s desk (don’t ask), but that’s a story for another day. Anyway moving on, Aludra saw the new Slytherin girl put a book beneath her elbow so she didn’t touch the ‘filth‘. And to top it off, she mumbled something! If there was anything in this world Aludra detested it was mumbling.

She wanted nothing more then to go sneeze all over the prissy little poppet’s desk and rub dragon dung on her head. But her fantasies of sabotage were ended when she noticed the Professor get up and tap and the board. Apparently they were going to start a new potion, hopefully this one had plenty of dragon dung…

Avona Lachelle Glace

Ava took another sniff of the air. After a while... it really wasn't... that bad, actually. She sighed, thinking that she had put things way out of proportion. Durmstrang's building just smelled much worse than this one, so it was obvious why she assumed this class room would be bad to. She sighed, and decided to take a test with the desk. She placed a finger on the desk, and rubbed it slowly along the table. Her color-blindness made it a little difficult to see if there was anything on the table, but, with the single finger-swipe, she decided that there wasn't anything there. She took her elbow off her book and placed it off the desk.

After that, she started to look around, noticing things about the room. One girl seemed to be looking at her until the professor's wand hit the black board rather hard, letting letters spill out to spell something. She leaned forward to read it. "Anti-Pestilence Potion." She had never heard of it. That was disappointing. "Professor, May I ask about the potion?" she asked as she began to flip through her book, looking for that specific title. The word Pestilence meant, if she could recall, deadly disease, or somesort of deadly infection, like a plague. "What does it do?" she asked, being interested. She may not have liked Animals and that... dredful class, but she loved learning, regardless of a few other factors.

((Oh Yea btw just umm don't bother with Blake He isn't a student any more hehe))

((Jesus, that puts my absence into perspective. x.x))

Ayamae smiled at the new girl. She apparently had her bearings and had settled in a little more.

"Yes, you may ask. The plague is still prominent in the American SouthWest and in parts of Africa. We, being mortal, are still highly susceptible to such a thing. This potion, if drunk even at the latest stages of plague, has the power to save a life.If taken beforehand, it will make you unable to get the plague for about a week. Why does this pertain to us, you ask? WELL, this potion is also an effective rodent deterrent. You sprinkle this around the outside of the house, it'll ward 'em off for a solid six months. It's handy, easy to brew, and doesn't bother any pet you may have inside the house. It'll make a pet rat unable to go outside, so all the better for you if the devilish little blighter gets loose."

Meiko quietly waited for the nest activity as she saw the professor enter the room.

Aludra Yvette...

Aludra made some mental notes on what the Professor had said and prepared herself for the potion. It should be simple enough.

Sparrow watched the Professor as she started a new lesson. Sparrow quickly got out some parchment and wrote down what was being said and written on the board. She found it to be an interesting potion and believed she had heard her mother use it once. She was glad a new lesson was starting.

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon felt good as he began to write down the bits of information that were give, knowing they were soon to be making another potion. There was something enjoyable about making something with your hands, when most of the classes required nothing but wand movements.

INGREDIENTS:

1 tablespoon acromantula venom
3 cups water
a dash of powdered unicorn horn
6 minced lacewing flies
1 teaspoon of dragon blood

STEPS:

STEP 1: Bring your 3 cups of water to a boil.

STEP 2: Add the unicorn horn and the acromantula venom at the same time. This is crucial so that the horn can counteract the ill effects of the venom.

STEP 3: Stir counterclockwise with a clockwise stir every 7 stirs for 5 minutes.

STEP 4: Add the lacewing flies.

STEP 5: Check your potion! It should be acid green with shimmering fumes.

STEP 6: Allow the cauldron to cool down.

STEP 7: Add the dragon blood.

STEP 8: If your potion is blue-green, it is safe.

WARNING: We will NOT be testing these potions out by swallowing them. If brewed incorrectly, it can be harmful to you. SO, we'll be taking some mice and making a circle of the potion around the mouse with an eyedropper. If the mouse will not cross the line, you pass.

Meiko had the instructions rewritten in her notebook. She follows the first step by adding three cups of water into her cauldron, and then she uses the spell incendio beneath her cauldron to make the water boil.

As the water boiled, she began to add the unicorn horn powder and a tablespoon of acromantula venom into the cauldron. She uses the ladle to stir the solution in counterclockwise with clockwise stir every seven stirs for five minutes, humming random songs in her head as she did it.

Avona Lachelle Glace

Ava nodded. This seemed simple enough to her. She grabbed her parchment notebook and wrote down the instructions. Then, just as one of the students had done, she began to add one ingredient at a time. She started with the water, following the step-by-step directions. A simple Incendio beneath her cauldron would do the trick, she decided. She held out her wand underneath the cauldron, and spoke the spell. Flames shot from the wand to the bottom of the Cauldron. The fire was very hot, so it should have done the trick nicely.

The water had begun to boil, and that made her smile. She set her wand down for a moment and grabbed the unicorn horn and the acromantula venom. She measured out the correct measurements, and at the very same time, dumped the ingredients into the cauldron. This was her favorite class back from where she came, so of course, she would like the class here. Then, she decided it was time to ask the professor a question. She wasn't sure, and she thought she needed to ask now before she continued. "Professor... Should we keep the water boiling while we do all of this until step six?" Ava knew that sometimes that it mattered, but maybe in this case it didn't. She knew that in step five, someone else would have to check her potion for her. That was the hard part of color-blindness.

Ayamae nodded in Avona's direction. "Yes, you'll want to keep it boiling."

Liviana hastily scribbled down some basic notes about the new potion, and then pulled out her newly-restocked potions kit to begin brewing.
