Cody was smiling brightly as he watched Dari's reaction. He really seemed to like it. "I've never brought anyone up here before," he admitted, softly. "You said you liked the little things in life, and I thought you'd like this." The entire field was full of little things people forgot to cherish in their busy lives.

Dari brought his gaze to meet Cody's and put his arms around the man's waist. He'd decided to do it; just go for it. He'd wanted to know what it felt like and Cody was clearly special. He was a man who appreciated the little things. He was a man who took chances. He was sweet and polite and fun to be around, and for that Dari leaned in for a kiss. His first ever.

Cody had been planning to kiss Dari, but was relatively surprised when the other guy made the first move. He gave a soft smile, and closed the gap between them. This was a special place, and he was sharing it with a special person. Nothing could've been better.

It was wonderful. It was soft and warm and close. A hand rose to touch Cody's cheek and stroke it with a thumb. He didn't want this to end. He had done the right thing in going out with Cody. He was sure of it. All of this made it all the more definite. Cody was the right person for him right now.

Cody ended the kiss reluctantly, and then stole another quick one. Dari was perfect, and not just in appearance. He was smart, he was fun, and not even a bit shallow. He didn't release Dari from his hold, just smiling at him.
Second date was too soon to have feelings, but wow. He was certainly grateful to whatever forces brought them together.

Dari stayed close, nearly forehead-to-forehead, and he could feel Cody's warmth even through his jacket. From what he had been told, it sometimes took months for real, deep feelings to start developing. Now he wasn't so sure.
"Thank you," he said, and his eyes found Cody's again.

Somehow, the flowers didn't matter so much. His eyes were on Dari, and he smiled. He stroked Dari's cheek with a thumb, not wanting to lose the closeness of the moment. "This should be our spot," he said, finally. A place they returned to, if they continued to date. He had hope. He'd never been so attracted to someone so soon in the relationship.

"Alright," Dari said with a little nod, still grinning. This would be their place, and he'd never forget it. He wouldn't mind coming back at all! No, this was where his first kiss had happened. It was special to him forever now.

Cody stole another quick kiss before letting his hand drop. Dari'd agreed to the implication of more dates! And er. Right. They were supposed to be having a picnic. He bent to spread the blanket he'd brought where they wouldn't be crushing any flowers. "Are you hungry?" he asked.

Dari helped Cody lay the blanket down, also arranging it so that no flowers would be crushed. He put the cooler down in the center before he sat down himself and pulled it open.
"Mmhm," he lied. Just little lies. Did he want to eat with Cody? Yes. Absolutely. Food was family and affection and love. He didn't delve into the cooler, though. That was Cody's domain. It had been his gift. Dari had just carried it up the mountain.

Cody pulled out a number of sandwiches, he hadn't known what Dari would like better and so had made several different kinds. "I might've been a bit over excited," he admitted. He took out a bottle of coke and offered it to Dari, taking the bottle of Dr. Pepper for himself. "There's fruit salad, too..." Marshmallows, half a packet of jello for flavoring and sliced fruits. He took out the tupperware container.

"Well, what one do you want the least?" Dari asked. He took the bootle of coke and eyed Cody's soda. "What does that taste like?" he asked, and then the fruit salad came out and his eyes widened.
"YES." Both arms went up in the air, one holding his coke. Marshmallows and fruit!

Cody offered Dari the turkey sandwich and grinned at him. "I'll have the blt then," he said. Had Dari never had soda before? Well, apart from coke. Maybe his job kept him from consuming sweets too often? He offered his soda to Dari, and smiled. "Try it," he said.
Well! He really seemed to like fruit salad! He'd have to remember that.

Dari laughed. "Sorry. Marshmallows and I have a long-standing love affair." He tried to hide his laughter behind a sandwich for a second but then took the Dr. Pepper and took a sip. His facial expression was very confused, if not tending toward disgust. "Huh. That's interesting." He handed it back and started in on his sandwich.
He would have never imagined being here, in the light of day, enjoying lunch with a friend, let alone an actual date. He was pleased as a puppy as he peered around, but his eyes always ended up back on Cody.

"I'll remember that," Cody promised, grinning at Dari. "For the record, I'm the same way with chocolate chips." Huh! He didn't like Dr Pepper? He took his sandwich out often the zip lock baggie and took a bite.
"We could walk through the field after we eat, if you'd like."
