But its an extra ten points I think.
Worth it.

The special ammo would all probably have to work different with a storm bolter. I'm sure they didn't allow it to happen because it'd be a pain to have an extra ruleset for it. The storm bolters are just around for if you'd rather your sternguard had on the move long range firepower, thought 10 points a peice is a bit pricey for it, in my opinion. I'd rather take the special rounds or combi-weapons. =p

Lt Brookman: First off Brookman my facts come right from the website. After 6 years, GW finally sent the email asking that the comic be discontinued. Thus they pulled the plug figuritively speaking. Granted that is combined with the creator's choice to move on to something else but he would have continued had they not spoken the final word. Keeping in mind that yes they had every right as they own the rights to everything 40K but at the same time, the website was harmless and the comics amusing with no negativity towards GW or the game at all. I say this because I have come across several 40k based comics that blatantly insulted GW, 40k and the hobby in general and while I appreciated the funny of it in some cases, I could totally understand GW not wanting their product being openly bashed where potential customers could read it and be discouraged to look into future purchases.

Blackened Heart Sucubi: In short, the TSOALR was a 3 to 4 panel, weekly comic about a 40k gamers' space marine army. He told it with a light sense of humour and a simplistic cartoon style that worked for what it was. I would suggest you give it a fair try and read the first couple of comics just to see if it strikes your fancy.

Like I said, light humour. It's not mean to punch you in the face with hilarity, it's more just an on going story of his game experiences done through the eyes of his miniatures which actually know they are miniatures. Think of.. Toy Story, only 40k. If its not your thing though don't worry about it, to each their own right?

But anyways back to Space Marine topics, has any one ever taken an Assassin with their Space Marine army?

In the days of the assassins having their old codex, I use to take an Eversor Assassin with my Space Wolves for shits and giggles. It was literally to see who could kill more in a game. I usually had him run along side my Venerable Dreadnought in a best buds sort of way, to see who could claim more carnage in a game.

Then I did it at a rogue trader tournament and had a fellow Space Wolves player trying to get me booted from the tourny for taking an assassin period. I had a good laugh at how big a stink people put up because it wasn't fluffy and yet.. they could kill him with 2 bolter shots from a 15 point marine and end 95 points of my army right there.

When DemonHunters came out, I took an Inquisitor to field the Assasin again, just to piss off people because there was no way to argue it wasn't fluffy now. True, Space Wolves HATE Inquisitors and have been known to open fire on on coming Inquisitorial ships that are destined for Fenris but that never stops and Inquisitor from doing as he pleases now does it? rofl

Note: I haven't fielded my Inquisitor or Assasin since the release of the DH codex, I got board of it after about a month and put those points towards better use. Space Wolves Scouts are such nasty little buggers. xd

I used assasins (deamonhunter) a few times and I gotta say,
it requiers some ahead planning to get them work more efficiently in the battlefield.

I´ve only used and Vindicare (SNAAAAAKE) and Everson and yet I can´t
seem to get any good results out of them,
I try to get rid of a character or a special weapon in a squad,
I miss/fail to wound;
try to damage a light-armoured tank, fail that too.

Charge a crazy assasin againts a unit;
prombtly fails to kill much and gets killed in the process. gonk

oh that´s nothing, DA´s didn´t even have a changes to get
Inquisitors in their army due to the old supplements Ally-restriction rule,
let alone to ally with IG´s with ogryn´s and ratlinks in their army. :p

This was removed in the 4th Ed codex due to Deamon- & Witch hunters codex Ally rule,
so now a days it does make sence for DA´s to join forces with the Inquisitor and none-human IG´s? @.@

Didn't they say that they wouldn't publish his comic on paper because he asked them to it as a tribute and cash making device? They said no, he said fine, he knew he wouldn't be getting any money and so he quit.

When it came to Assassins, I only ever used Eversor and Vindicare. Vindicare was fun to try and use but his limited special rounds made him not very worth the points, especially now since what are they.. Sternguard? I think that's the ones have unlimited special ammo and can swap types each turn. lol

The Eversor though I loved for three reasons. The first being the old story in the original Assasins book where the Eversor takes on entire family and when it ran out of its conventional weapons, it literally grabbed soup spoons and the like and kill them with that instead! It just really made of a twisted story that made me giggle... sweatdrop The other reasons are because it reminds me a lot of the Predator and well, in a Space Wolves army nothing says loving like a pack of blood claws, a venerable dreadnought and an assassin all charging in at once.

The biggest trick with assassins, especially the eversor and Calidus though I find is that you had to have them operate as reinforcements rather than one man/woman armies. When they went solo there was a good chance they would die before making their points back but if they helped a unit, they tend to sway the tide of battle very quickly. That and if an Eversor dies, he self destructs Predator style and takes people with him which I always enjoyed doing! lol

To be honest Kaori, there are two truth's to everything. There were multiple reasons posted on the web site, most of which I suspect were more to keep things calm while some where more honest in a manner of speaking. The guy worked for a living and admitted the comic he did as a way of keeping his sanity so to speak, give him a hobby to enjoy and share with others more so than just painting 40k miniatures anyways. So the comic to my understanding started out as a fun project for himself, it grew from there yes but the bottom line is, it started out as a fun thing, not a profit making scheme. That's just how I've come to understand it though, I'm not the guy who made the comic nor am I GW, so I will never know the whole truth of the story.

That's my plan, taking combi-plasmas combined with a Librarian with Null zone. Will kill about anything walking. ; )

@ Kaori: I heard the same thing (From the website.) One of the reasons he pulled the plug was because he wasn't allowed to publish his work into books.
