Midnight Ethereal
I have a question in regards to conversion and legality of a model.
Could I represent an Emperor's Champion in Terminator armor. The fluff says the Black Sword and Armor of Faith may change.
As long as it keeps the stats given to it in the codex would it matter if I had my champion in Terminator armor?

Given that the save doesn't change, I'd say go for it if you feel like it.

well LOS and WYSIWYG could play into that but i dont see an issue in it

Has no shooting weapons, so LOS has no effect.

WYSIWYG: Terminator armor has a 2+ save, and it can be assumed that this suit of the armor has been enhanced to have a 4+ much the same as the normal Armor of Faith. Already has a power sword or can be given one, and as long as it looks suitably fancy, I'd have no issues.

That and you get around the potential issues of breaking rules by having him teleport by just walking him onto the board.

No, it really won't. Terminator armor is just barely taller than Power Armor. Maybe an eighth of an inch. People need to have decent LoS to claim targeting when I'm playing with them.

I'm with Caleidah on the subject of LOS, the big book itself clearly describes how that works and details like banners, weapons and other decorations don't count for LOS. ONLY the actual physical body of the unit that is mounted on the base! And realistically in a time of war, if all you see is a glimpse of something you aren't going to waste off ammo on what might just be a passing by rat or some such thing. It'd give away your position and leave you vulnerable when you have to reload anyways! (Ignoring the fact that reloading and realism don't take effect in 40k, it just sounds good to point out. lol)

Caleidah
Van Evok
an idea of mine:
sniper instructors squad
elite slot
stats: as scout vet sergeant
3-5 in the squad
cost:25 per model
weapons/wargear: scout armor, boltpistol, sniper rifle, cammo cloak
special rules:
masters of stealth - add +2 instead of +1 to cover saves up to 2+, and giving 5+ in the open
headshot: inflict rending on 5+ to wound

sometimes, a team of chapters most experienced snipers is gathered to kill a specific target - especially Raven Guard and their successor chaptres favor this approach over more heavy-handed use of firepower

So, essentially Space Marine Ranger Pathfinders? I think that would cost too much and be too small a squad for people to find it overly useful.[/quote

You'd be better off taking Telion and calling it a day.

That big bobbing banner behind the wall over there, I think it might be the enemy.

Any one remember where your almighty Chapter Master could die from being shot by a lascannon? When all the Lascannon could see was his banner or sword tip?

If you give a Sternguard squad all Storm Bolters, do they still get the Special ammo?

Double checking the codex I have to say "no".
Since it´s not mentioned, it´s not possible.
It only works on Bolters and Combi-weapons.

Yeah, it goes abit waste, considering you can take normal scouts cheaper
and have Telion run in the other, so why bother take them?

Maybe if it would cause Rending on better rolls (4+, 3+) and/or
perhaps give it an option to shoot different targets (units and models),
like example 6 models shooting 6 different targets?
Now that´s something to think about.

A prime example of this from Turn Signal on a Land Raider webcomic.

Thats stupid, why wouldn't they have special ammo for the Storm Bolter?
Its basically two Bolters put together, and they can have the special ammo.

Not really, since Combi-Bolter is 2 bolters put together
while Storm Bolter is a 2-barrel bolter with a one fire-mechanism.
Atleast I think that´s the general difference....

They do use same ammo´s, but the function and rule is different,
so my quess is that it´s close to a balance issue then anything else.
Special ammo´s on bolter is not that overpowering as of
special ammo´s on storm bolter,
2 hellfire shots up to 24" despide having been moved
and can still assault even if they fired their weapons. <.<"
