I... hope so.
Kaok nodded. It definitely reflected the excitement she must have had, too.
((Augh. No idea what to write. emo ))

After a considerable amount of noise over head, a Roman dropship landed in the usual spot on the Estate Grounds. It took a few moments for the visiting Faun to exit the ship, though, which was strange. She was moving more slowly, though not awkwardly, and yawned as she went. She didn't look any less composed than usual other than this - her clothes were clean, her posture was excellent, she tried to carry herself every bit as proudly as she usually did... but she was off, still.
The visit hadn't previously been planned, so the Empress hoped she hadn't come at a bad time... or that she was welcome. She just wanted to say 'hello'. For no matter how desperately tired she felt, she couldn't just sit around all day doing nothing. It... she wanted to do something. She wasn't able to spend her time sleeping, so she might as well do something.
Emma, are you home?

I'm here. came the mental reply. In much the same way as Kaok had slowed, so too had Emma. The enchantress made her way out from between the vine-wrought gates with something less than her usual light step. She was just beginning to show, and the dark circles under her eyes were even more proof of the start of her second trimester.
But motherhood was strong in Emma yet. One look at the Faun told her something was off. "You don't look quite yourself, Kaok."

Kaok hugged the elf in greeting, and attempted to smile at least a little to offset the surely gloomy look she must have had on her face previously. It didn't do much, and so she abandoned the effort relatively quickly.
"I don't feel it either." She replied, unable or unwilling to deny this. "I didn't get much sleep last night."

"Nor did I, my sympathies." Emma muttered, quickly ushering the Faun inside. She took the stone steps inside slowly, lifting her skirts lest she trip (something she rarely did otherwise).
"Any particular reason why?"
Emma had her own reason, but was not going to reveal that unless asked. The same dream, over and over...

"I don't know." The Faun shrugged as they went, and she almost didn't know. Though, it hadn't just been that night, it had been several nights in a row. She just couldn't fall asleep, and if she did, it was for a few seconds before she startled awake again.
There had been something, recently... but she couldn't remember what. She'd had a bad dream of her own maybe, she thought, but now she couldn't remember what it was - and she still couldn't sleep.

"Do you want help with it?" Emma asked innocuously. "My powers aren't exactly stable at the moment, but I'm sure I could manage something. And if you're not comfortable with magic, there's a cellar full of herbs and things of that ilk. Something in there will help you sleep, I can guarantee it." She opened the door to the sitting room (which had been converted into some sort of pillow-strewn, blanket-covered den), and offered the Empress a seat.
It hadn't stopped. She should be reassured, even honored by the dreams. But they scared Emma, made her blood run cold.

The Faun sat down on one of the numerous pillows and wrapped her arms tight around her knees habitually. "I don't know. It may pass soon."
It wasn't showing signs of doing so, but... she didn't want to trouble Emma. It wasn't that bad anyhow.

"Bollocks." Emma said frankly as she seated herself. There was a section of the pillows that had an Emma-shaped indentation already in them and the faint scent of lavender and jasmine she always bore with her.
"Do you want me to have a look?" She gestured vaguely not sure how to put 'Do you want me to poke around inside your head' in polite terms.

Kaok looked down at the ground, unsure of what to say. She sort of wanted the relief that it might bring, but... she didn't know what it had been, and she couldn't know how it would affect Emma.
"I'm not sure."

"Take me out of the equation and think about it. I won't force anything." Emma said softly as she rose, vanishing into the kitchen for a moment. She returned with a small plate of what looked like fresh chocolate chip cookies, the little chunks of chocolate still melted and gooey in the middle.
"Hopefully I won't poison you. This is only my fifth attempt."
The others had ended disastrously (in flames).

She laughed a little and took one of the cookies. "Thank you, Emma. I bet they're better than you'll admit."
Kaok didn't eat it yet, though not because she doubted what she herself had said, but... because she was thinking. Should she ask for help, shouldn't she? And she was leaning towards asking when she finally took a bite of the cookie.

Emma let Kaok think, sitting in silence as she nibbled the edge of one of her creations. Considering that she didn't gag instantly, they were probably better than her last attempt.
The enchantress couldn't even close her eyes without seeing flashes of the dream.
"Take your time."

Kaok ate the rest of the confection slowly, still pondering this dilemma. She didn't want to burden Emma (or anyone for that matter) with whatever it was in that dream she must have had, but... Emma had seen a lot, maybe she wouldn't be bothered.
The Empress glanced anywhere but at the elf. "This may be the millionth time you've had to deal with me and my silly problems, but if it wouldn't be terribly inconvenient-. I... could I take you up on your offer for help?"
