no in fact the Tau somtimes setup small colonys for trading and such they are more comon on the world near the egde of Tau space. And tau wouldnt kill everyone as theyre good to unite all for the greater good couldnot be realized if everything was dead. Read "For the Emperor" by Sandy Mitchell where the Tau have setup their outpost
now necrons dont build new buildings but for game purposes they will. And of course theyve built buildings in long past. whole Tomb Worlds, the Dysons Sphere!

Don't forget that Forge World has already designed the defensive structures for the Tau, so I wouldn't be suprised if they pick a thing or two from Forge World to be included in the game.

my thoughts is that they will alittle faster but the Monolith will be severely nerfed and move fast to teleport your crons

yeah thats one alternative i thought Relic might take, the crons would move slow but the monoliths would probably be sped up and able to teleport necron from any part of the map to the monoliths location xp . Although I still wonder what their super unit is...
they definitely will be nerfed considering I can take on 3 armies of space marines with just 4 monoliths in WA

Ok, let's see...
@Red-Baron: The Basilisks in DOW suck. Their range is nowhere near as high as it SHOULD be.
@ubergeist: I'm thinking that the Necrons may not really 'build' anything. I think it might be closer to creating some form of teleportation marker. Something to show the Tomb Ships where to send the units. And I think having Tomb Spyders as builders wouldn't be too overpowered. I'm pretty sure the Necrons are going to be REALLY costly, so having a builder that can actually fare in combat would be handy to have. Not to mention it could pump out some Scarab Swarms until some actual warriors arrive.
And I don't think they'll nerf the Monoliths. I took out half of them with a single Baneblade in WA. The Baneblade still had well over half of it's health left over. I think that's kinda sad when the Monolith is likely to be the Necron super unit. Or the Pylon... Wouldn't complain if I could drop that thing on an enemy's base. MWAHAHAH!

Makes me wonder how they'll implement the "We Will Be Back!" rule.

Lt. Brookman Makes me wonder how they'll implement the "We Will Be Back!" rule. I kinda like how they had it in WA. The dead Necron just lies there for a few minutes then gets back up again. Though it WOULD be nice if they sped it up some first... I only saw one Necron get up in WA before I finished slaughtering the whole lot of them. The only thing that worries me is Phase Out...

In WA in the campaign mission you dont really get to see their true potential mainly because they attack in broken up forces at different points, but trust me, when you build about 5 squads of cron warriors backed up by 2-4 monoliths you can stomp anything. The crons do get back up pretty slowly but because their gauss cannons followed by the knockback effect of the monoliths arc in skirmish, its pretty usefull.

You know, I'll just wait and see as the info dribbles in. I just hope, no I know that most of the post-production will be spent of balancing it to a near-perfect state, as with Winter Assault.

For Phase Out, warrior squads could just have a button that teleports them back to the starting base. Maybe one use only, or it costs money. Dude - on a superficial level, have any of you considered how cool the C'tan are gonna be? Think of the already awesome models animated - with up-to-date graphics! w00t!

you know now that you mention the Ctan, would this expansion be a good platform to release a new one? Like the original did with the blood ravens
note this is just a thought and i will not allow it to spark a 4 page dicussion of the Ctan
