Brayden took up the rear, keeping Gin'iro out as they made their way through the dormant volcano. He kept an eye out, but couldn't see much in the darkened caverns, which worried him. At least there were a few heated stones here and there that he could use to pick out shapes, but for the most part, he was just glad he wasn't tripping over his own feet.
He was listening to the conversations the group were in as well, more than a bit worried that Kaya's brother had made an appearance. Wasn't he dead? Great, now they had zombies running amok... Not having been there for the conversation in Ecruteak, he hadn't known about Valahn's situation.

A pair of eyes were trained on the group from the moment they entered, following silently from the shadows, keeping a close eye on the travelers. After a while, a long, serpentine form vanished into the shadows, traveling deeper into the depths of the dormant volcano.
Another tremor shook the cavern, almost in protest as the rumble died odwn after a moment. Pools of molten rock had gathered in the lowest caverns, casting an eerie light on the walls of the rather hot room.
A lone figure in the center of the cavern turned, hearing the Dragonair's approach, even though the scattered groups of people about him hadn't any clue as to the dragon's entrance.
"Do they have it?" he spoke calmly, not belying his impatience. At the dragon's confirming nod, the man flashed a grin, although it was filled with anything but mirth.
"Finally... Well?" he turned to the groups scattered about, "What are you waiting for?" he demanded. Said underlings proceeded to scatter frantically.
"Make sure they don't leave this place alive..."

Israfel sighed, trotting through the dormant volcano's tunnels, trying his best not to melt. He had seen one Rocket unfortunate enough to fall into a lava pool, and wasn't too keen on repeating the dearly departed... uh... whatever his name was's mistake.
Being a puddle didn't seem to entertaining, judging from the sound of the grunt's short-lived (no pun intended) screams.
So the red-head and his band of grunts (whom he had just taken to calling "Hey You" for lack of any interest in actually learning their names) were assigned to the first wave. Easy enough, right? Order the fodder forward and sit back to report back the status once the battle was over. That was the plan, anyway.
Too bad Raef had another boss to answer to and take orders from, one that had something a bit more interesting (in his eyes at least).
Wait, did the rubber just melt from the bottom of his boots?! Craaaaap, now he'd have to buy a new pair... Israfel tsked, glaring slightly at the melted mess. Mental note, keep a bit further away from the lava.... Of course setting up their little plan couldn't have been somewhere like the beach. They were right next to the resort area, after all.
Nothing like a touch of the (over)dramatic.
Shaking his head, blatantly ignoring the scent of burnt rubber from his now ruined (and former favorite) boots, Israfel followed the grunts in front of him, also blatantly ignoring their tact, or lack thereof. And fashion sense, or lack thereof.
I mean, honestly, who walks around town with a bright red "R" emblazoned on the front of their uniform...
"No wonder Gio split..." Israfel muttered. A few grunts looked to him as they ran, expecting orders, since those were the first words actually spoken aloud by their assigned leader since they were sent out.
"Bah...you'd think you'd have any brains about you, but here you are, waiting for orders like a dog wanting a bo-" Okay, reign it in, ignore the peons for a bit and get the job done. Man, he hated Rockets, but for now at least, he was one... kind of...
"Whatever, Hey You number 1, you take Hey You number 2, circle through that way, you'll find a split in the path, head left. Got that? Left. That will take you to position. Hey You number 3, you come with me, while Hey You number 4, you head down that route," Raef pointed the directions as his dubbed gruntlings spread out, following orders with only the minimal grumbling required. Such well-trained monkeys, Israfel snorted with a smirk.
***
A couple of minutes, and a few singed bootstrings later (he'd never forgive Notaro for the boots), the group was in position, as Israfel bit back a yawn. He motioned for his gruntlings to go ahead, motioning with a lazy wave, before putting his own orders into motion.

Israfel wasn't a skilled thief for nothing. He pulled two items from his pockets, a swatch of cloth and a small nondescript bottle, dashing forward at the same time as his little gruntlings attacked. A split second later, the cloth was dampened, and pressed to Brayden's nose and mouth.
