The thing to remember is it's a process. Put you faith in Jesus, trust in his love and sacrafice. Don't be discouraged. Bad thoughts and sin will come, attacks will come, you may even fall. Do not listen to the enemy but trust in Jesus. No one is beyond redemption. Once you're His you're his. Trust in that. he won't leave you or forsake you. Remember he will deliver you, but that's on his time, not mans. It will happen when he decrees it. Use this struggle to draw close to him and get to know his character. Keep in the word, try and get around a group of believers. Don't be stupid like me a try to be a lone wolf Christian. But above all you have faith. That makes anything possible with a God that loves you, and is for you. Yes God hates sin, and homosexuality is a sin. But the human condition is rife with it, we won't rise above save through his sacrifice, and can't be pure or good with out him. so it's about him, not us. Lock eyes with your maker, see the love in them and walk ever closer to him daily. It's all any of us can do. He does the rest and always will. Keep the faith, and much love to you from a brother in Christ.
