"That's better," Twilight said encouragingly. Of course, while the other Numa may have been fine with his hands, he had a few things to learn about using the rest of his body. Not to mention listening to his own inner music.
Still swaying, he stepped back a bit. Still close enough to touch, but just barely. At least the other was dancing now, so maybe he could do it by himself. "Look inside you. You can dance, you just have to find your own rhythm. Your own sense of style. You have one in your pictures... now, just make them move!"

He tried to listen in... to this 'music' the other was speaking about. With that he painted his scene... in his mind he closed his eyes. Imaging everything... everything in which he could take to find where he belonged to... and that was back in the 1900s... No one knew how long he had lived for but he could remember sutle images of peoples.. dancing in large dresses... one sin tuxs.. he could figure all that.
Now. Here. Under the stars he danced just had he been taught so long ago. A ball room dance taking the other's side with his paw and taking large steps. As if he were a pro at such dancing... he was taught very young.. his mother was the fabulous actor.. with the son who could dance just as good. His hair flew through each step he took. Every moment in sequence to the other. His eyes this whole time was entirely closed and his moon only shined just as his equal. The masking of the scenery with that of a ball room. completely empty... big.. their were no mistakes in his steps. As if he imagened it all. He even twirled the other. Just simply closing his eyes and knowing when to catch him.
Where had all this come from? He had not known. Mozart chiming in his head and other artists of the century. The delicate movement in his steps, and his tail curling around the other's tail. A gesture just as if you were holding holds in the dancing.

Something changed. Twilight wasn't sure what it was, but his "student" had taken what he said to heart. If he could see inside the artist's heart he might have more clues, but to the casual observer, it was hard to tell. All he knew was that one moment, the strange Numa was barely moving to the music, and the next he was dancing. Truly dancing, with technique and style that Twilight had to admire. He stopped dancing for several moments to watch, but resisted the urge to applaud, worried it might break the spell.
The steps were more delicate and exact than his own, but Twilight could appreciate it nonetheless. Still, there was something missing, something that he couldn't place. Yet. Curious, he stepped back into the dance, slowing down his rhythm but otherwise keeping his movements the same. Their dancing might be different, but that didn't mean it wasn't compatible.

With just another turn and he stopped. His hair falling over his face. His paw put and the other almost to his waist. A light step towards the other and he lightly bowed. Being reminded of the old days.He twirled a male and a female. At once and they both laughed and smiled.. he didn't. He couldn't.. just jive a grin and leave them...
His eyes went half lidded and he bright his paws on to the other's. The moon on his head giving off a silver shine then dimmed low.. His hair still over partially all his face. This is what he didn't feel... "Forgive me." He said. Not looking at the other...

Charmed, Twilight gave a twirl of his own before swooping into a bow of his own. Though the exercise wasn't quite what he'd expected, it had been fun nonetheless. Seeing how someone else interpreted things was always interesting, especially when dance was involved.
But something was wrong. "Forgive you?" Twilight asked, confused. He squeezed the artist's paws lightly, hoping to be reassuring. "Forgive you for what? You were fantastic!"

"...." He looked in to the other's eyes and gave a squeeze to the other's paws. "This dance.... Just. I am sorry... I don't know if this .. was dance or not.. or if you wanted me to dance this way.. " He said in a deep quieted down voice. Was good spending time with someone.. and to 'dance' .. but this .. gave him so many memories of long ago that he might've even felt the need to stay in those memories and not the present.

Twilight shook his head, feeling both amused and a bit saddened. He thought that they were getting somewhere, but apparently not. "I didn't want you to do anything you felt uncomfortable doing. You did something for me, so I wanted to return the favor. But really... I thought you were marvelous."
Clearly there were things going on in the artist's mind that Twilight couldn't understand, and he wouldn't try to. But that didn't mean that they couldn't have fun... did it?
"Just relax," he murmured. "You're too hard on yourself, Mister Mystery Artist."

"Tis not uncomfortable, and I thank you. You too in return were just as ellegant in dance. I am honored to have danced with you." His eyes half lidded as he came up to see the other's face.
A light smile. A true one came over his face. The other had done him well, made that glimpse of the grim joy the artist now showed. The moon on his forehead giving off a glimmer.

Such flowery speech! Twilight would have laughed, but it seemed out of place. Still, he couldn't help a small grin, mostly covered by the bandages around his muzzle. "The pleasure was mine. If you would like, I'd love to share a dance again sometime."
Maybe, just maybe, they had gotten somewhere after all. Twilight saw the artist's smile and gave one in return, big and happy and accompanied by a belly laugh. Things were better when everyone was having fun!
