Hate too throw this in, but if he cops searched him just for walking to his friends house then technically it violates the fourth amendment, and then they weren't doing they're jobs. >>

I gotta agree with Satah about the knowing about sex early but not really planning on doing anything about it.
And with the adults expecting us to be completely clueless thing. xD
I found that kind of odd, really.
Any questions I had would have been to..uh, specific and awkward for any adult to really answer.

No kidding. xD <3 At the end of the neccessary Health class thing, they'd pass around a question box, and you were supposed to ask a question. I was like, uh... oh. No. >>;

Um, my family has always taken the view that just because it's awkward for the adult, doesnt mean it's not right to tell the kid. For example; some parents never tell their kids what sex is. I knew as soon as I asked, in kid friendly terms of course. (a "special cuddle" between married people to make babies razz ) and any other questions as I grew up were always openly talked about. I realise I've been quite lucky, as most of my friends have found out what sex is accidentally from TV or films or magazines or whatever, which obviously isnt going to give the right view of it at all, not to a kid!

People in middle school boasted about that?! confused Wow. Here it was still all "lol ur uncool coz u dnt no wat means" at that age. And 13, sexually active? That'd be like one in a couple of thousand. And there is no need to drag everyone else down to that level; those KIDS should be looked after properly, and everyone else taught appropriately.

And yeah, almost all 13 year olds know about sex, and the very basics of how it works, there's nothing wrong with that. But talking to a class of 13 year olds like you assume they are all sexually active automatically puts pressure on them to do so, because it's "uncool" to not be all "grown up" and do and be the latest thing. It suddenly turns from grown ups who you generally still trust at that age tellng you "no sex is bad dont listen to peer pressure" to adults becoming that peer pressure. I dunno, maybe it was just handled REALLY badly in all the schools I've gone to and seen and heard of. xp

Emotions and maturity = biggest problem, yet least talked of here.

And you never know what you're going to feel like until you're actually pregnant. I've heard countless tales of women assuming they feel the same way before and after getting pregnant, and then suddenly realising that actually, they'd really rather protect what's inside them. But that goes into the whole "where does life begin" thing again, which cant be proven yet, so we'll leave it. xd

Reasonable suspicion to be able to search.

Probably Cause to arrest.

So as long as they have reasonable suspicion then yes, they were doing their job and no it was not in violation of the fourth amendment.

"reasonable suspicion" is up in the air though. I'm not sure if they are required to tell the person why or if it just goes in a report or what. I haven't asked that yet.

Also I was informed that if it's more than an ounce they HAVE to arrest the person by law, at least in California. Otherwise they just slap you with a fine. I'm not sure about in other states.

Well if I remember correctly, Trav doesn't even live in the States. xp

As for the sex thing, I don't think it's one in a thousand thirteen year-olds, it would really have to be at least two in a thousand. xd
Although I suppose it would really depend on what region they'd have grown up in.

And my parents DID tell me about sex, just any questions I had were too awkward for me to ask.

I remember I went to some councelor once, and there was a part of our talking where she had to mention sex or whatever, and she was like "And if you want to find out more, don't watch porn. It just doesn't work like that."
Which I had figured, some of those positions look pretty painful. xp

I don't remember where I was going with this. @_@

(At least the people smoking in the back lot went away in the 80s)
Do you mean people smoking in the back of the school? I've seen some of the staff at my school do that. I even saw my elemantary school principal smoking there. You will never know how tempted I was to tell everyone that he was smoking (and possibly doing drugs).

I never got "the talk." I learned how babies were made from a couple of encyclopedias I had (still own one of them) in my room, and more from health ed in middle school and later. Of course, Mom said that if I had any questions, I had but to ask. I...don't think I ever did. >__>

My classes did something similar: we each got a blank index card at the beginning of class, and all of them were collected at the end. So no one would know whether or not you'd asked a question unless they saw you writing on the card, and we usually had other things to write during class, so it probably wouldn't have been obvious.

We have a smoker's pit type thing at the side of the school. P: Well... it's only a pit because so many people walk there that there's a depression in the ground now. It's this area just outside the fence that shows where the end of the school property is xP

Here they're trying to ban tobacco, but the alcohol problem is pretty bad. Kids of 11 getting completely plastered, stupid things like that.

There's some odd drug called Shisha? That's legal here. No idea what it is. But it doesnt seem any different from weed. I gotta admit, it doesnt seem any worse than alcohol, and a lot of students here want it legalised too. And people don't get aggressive with it too; so in that respect it's better than alcohol.

Shisha isn't weed.

It's flavoured tobacco, smoked from one of those weird pipe things.

It's ridiculously popular in Germany, especially with younger people.

Some people put milk or alcohol in the pipe instead of ******** stupid.
