Youkochylde It's been a day or two since I've written in the journal, but so much has happened. The spirit loves music... and dances almost constantly when my MP3 player is going. However, there's been a serious drain on the battery supply, and I have to remember to get more up here soon.
Something strange happened, as well. The cloth that I used to wrap up the mirror has attracted this little creature's attention, to the point where it's playing with it quite often. I can't really tell if it's trying to wear the fabric like clothing, or if it's dancing with it. At some times, it's content to push it around the shelf or sit beneath it. Other times, it's almost like a veil, swirling around the spirit's form until it drops to the shelf again.
It's amazing, really... I wonder what else it would like to see? Maybe I could bring some sheer fabrics with me... or since it likes the mirror so much, a sequined fabric would be better? I don't want it to get bored, after all.
Sleep for now... it's been a long day.

Youkochylde Strange things have been happening... the cloth that was up here is gone now, with no trace of where it went. Maybe the wind blew it away or something, that's all I can think of. The spirit seemed to be looking around for it, but has since gone back to hovering above the mirror. I brought some new scents for the wax pot today... cucumber melon (one of my favourites) and pear. I'm hoping they go over as well as the blackberry did. *Grins*
In other news, I don't know if Yeande will be coming with me for a little while. She's been in a mood lately, and doesn't seem to want much to do with me. Ah well... I was hoping she'd come after the spirit finds its way to staying, but we'll have to see what happens.

Youko came back up to the shelf slowly, carrying with him the MP3 player that he'd taken with him earlier that morning. He knew the spirit would likely be a bit miffed at him taking it, but he wanted to expose it to different types of music. Now he had a good mix loaded onto it... a bit of theatre, 80's music, 90's, rock, jazz... anything he could find on his harddrive at home, including a healthy smattering of anime and J-rock. "Honey, I'm home!" he called, grinning when the spirit peeked out from around the relic. "Well hello there."
The spirit had gotten accustomed to the greeting, since Youko called it out every time he returned. It had also gotten used to the fact that he almost always brought something new. This time, however, all he had was the music box thing... and the spirit seemed a bit put off. Flitting around the fox, it almost seemed to be looking for whatever else could have been brought.
"Settle, settle... this'll be good, I promise." Youko grinned, reaching to brush a finger down the side of the spirit's glow, almost as if petting it. "See... I'm going to teach you a few things today. You dance so gracefully, I thought that perhaps you'd like to see some other kinds."
The spirit looked intrigued... or as intrigued as a glowing puffball could.
It was a beginning at least.
Setting the mp3 player down, Youko turned it on and set it to a fast paced song from the 80's... one that was specifically upbeat. Then he started to move. Before long, he was 'jitterbugging' all over the shelf, much to the amusement of the spirit, who was darting around him in a mimic of his movements. Laughing softly, Youko continued, not caring that he was likely making a fool of himself. It wasn't like anyone ELSE could see him way up here, and he wasn't worried about THEM anyway. All that mattered was this little spirit who he swore would be laughing if it could.

Youkochylde I'm worried. I can't help it, but I am. I think even the spirit is noticing it. It's been a while since anyone has seen Karasu, and I'm glad to see that her relic spirit is still here waiting for her as well. Maybe I'm just being overly jittery, or what have you. I get nervous when my friends vanish, I suppose.
Maybe I'm just being silly... but Rasu, we miss you. And we worry about you.

Climbing up to the shelf again, Youko let the bookbag fall heavily onto the wood as he smiled and looked around. It took a few minutes, but the familiar spirit started to peer out from alongside the relic, then darted forward on seeing him.
"Hey there!" he grinned, pointing to the bookbag. "Brought a few things for you..." He pulled out a few books, two that were mostly pictures and two that seemed to be novels. He wasn't sure exactly what kind the spirit would prefer, and had decided not to take the chance. After all, there was more to life than dancing and looking pretty, wasn't there?
The spirit didn't seem to think so, however, and readily ignored the books after a few moments of curiosity. It seemed far more interested in the keychain that was hanging off of the side of the bookbag, dangling in the breeze.
Blinking, Youko turned and picked it up, unlatching it and holding it up. "You like that?" he asked, setting the little fuzzy rabbit's foot spinning in the breeze. The fur had been dyed an unnatural blend of blue, green and purple, but the spirit seemed enthralled by it, zinging past it hard enough to set it spinning in Youko's hand.
"Ahhh... looks like we've found a new game for you, hmm?"

Youkochylde This place seems to much brighter to me now. Karasu has come back, albeit briefly, and now we know she's alright. Even my little spirit seems to be happier now. I've given it a name... I hope it likes it. The spirit itself is such vivid colours that I've named it Kujaku. It's Japanese for 'peacock'. It definately doesn't seem to MIND, really, and actually seems to answer when I speak its name. I've taken to simply rambling about whatever crosses my mind to Kujaku, and when I had come up with the name, it seemed to stop and stare at me. Then its colours changed slightly... and I swear it smiled.
Well, as best a spirit can smile, anyway.
I brought some anime MP3's with me today, and Kujaku loves them... it hasn't stopped dancing yet. I also brought my sketchbook with me, and it hovered around my shoulder for a while at first, just watching me. I wonder if it likes artwork? I'll have to find out.

It was hard enough to pack up the few things he needed to take... without the little spirit hovering around and seeming to look at him as though he were betraying it. "I'm sorry, Kujaku," he whispered, trying to reach out towards the spirit and sighing when it pulled back. "I promise I will be back as soon as I can, alright? Karasu says this is for the best, and the deities will be watching over you and the others."
It didn't seem convinced.
Dropping down to sit, Youko looked to the spirit, his ears falling back. "I can't stay. I was told I have to leave before the mist gets too thick for me to get down. I'll leave everything up here for you, however, I'll just take the journal with me."
That seemed to appease the little spirit somewhat, but Youko still felt miserable about leaving it behind as he descended the tree.
"Don't worry," came a soft, calm voice from behind him as he stepped off the stairs. Chronos was there, smiling to the kitsune and laid one hand on his shoulder as he led the boy away. "It'll be alright, as will the others."
"I know," he replied, forcing a smile. "I'll just feel better once I'm allowed to go back up there.

Youko was sitting in the grass, picking at the blades and generally looking as though he was NOT having the time of his life. Occasionally his gaze would lift to the mist-shrouded branches of the tree, and he half wondered if anyone would notice were he to slip beneath the barriers and go back to Kujaku. "They would notice," came hte soft voice of Chronos nearby, and Youko winced visibly. "I know," he said, glancing up to the calm deity. He was very grateful to be Chronos' consort in times like this. The man's calm was a very potent emotion, and tended to soothe those around him. Smiling softly, the Kyunru knelt down beside Youko, tilting his head to the side. "If you like, I can show you something that may make you feel better." He waved a hand then, and an image seemed to show in the air in front of Youko, almost as if he were seeing through the mist to the top of the tree. Stunned, Youko stared, bringing up his hand to touch the image. He barely noticed his fingers slide clear through the illusion, and a smile spread on his face. "Kujaku... he's staying! Oh gods, I thought he'd leave, I thought he was angry with me." "No... however, I do believe the relic will provide him comfort while you're away. He feels safe there, and now you know he'll be alright when you return." Smiling, Youko nodded and seemed to be far more at ease now. "Thank you, Chronos. I feel much better."

Quote: Tomorrow is the day! July the 14th, when we'll be allowed back into the tree with the spirits there. I'm so excited, I can barely stop moving.
There hasn't been much to write about without being in there... I miss Kujaku so much. I just hope he hasn't abandoned me during all of this time.

Quote: Today, the tree was revealed to us, and so much has happened! The tree is so alive now, and there are little Kyunru and Kun Kuns darting around. There are spirits everywhere, or at least that's what I believe the puffballs of light to be... And I'm back with Kujaku. *Beams* He has moved into his relic... I have started referring to Kujaku as 'he'. I have no idea why, but it just seems to fit him. Anyway... he moved into his relic back when the mist first came. Chronos let me see it, and I had never felt so happy. Until now. Now I'm even more happy, if that's even possible. The shelf feels like hom... and I've finally come back. I'm staying here tonight, and hoping that Kujaku emerges at some point. I can hardly wait to see him!! Chronos and I watched the emergings of the new Kyunru and Kun Kuns... I haven't seen him this happy in a while either. I hope that seeing the Ieldi will make the deities happy as well.

Quote: What a day... I'm helping a friend move. Unfortunately, this means that I spend a lot of time over at his house instead of at the shelf with Kujaku. He has to be out by the end of the week, so I'm spending a lot of time there right now. However, that means that once it's over, I'll be here pretty well all the time. I can hardly wait. *Grins* Kujaku doesn't seem to notice one way or the other. The process of being in the relic seems to be disturbing him slightly and he also seems aggitated by it. Confusion, fright... I seem to get all of it from him, as if he's really not sure what's going on either. I tried to explian it to him, but I"m not certain if he heard me or understood. So as often as I can, I'll be here for him, trying to soothe him.

Quote: I think I'm getting back into the hang of things here. Granted, the first days back on the shelf were a bit unnerving. I'd forgotten just how much this thing waves int he breeze.
What was possessing me to have it all the way up HERE? eek
I'm not sure, but hey... Kujaku seems to like it well enough.
He's still a bit unnerved, and hiding in the relic now. I can barely see him, and only if I lean way over and look inside. I don't want to disturb him farther, and so I mostly just stay out here with my books and I playt he MP3 player outside of the entrance, loud enough that he can hear it.
I hope he comes out soon... I'm starting to get worried about him.

Quote: I'm worried... Kujaku's been so motionless and quiet in there. I know that this is likely part of hte process, and Chronos has told me the same thing. He says that I shouldn't worry, that everything will be fine. I just can't help it, I suppose.
After seeing Kujaku so lively, active and fun-loving, it's hard to believe that he's just so dormant in the relic.
There's some kind of magic coming from the relic, however... radiating from it, really. It's soothing, really, and I find myself staring at it at night, just watching the play of light. I just hope he's alright in there...

((Cut and pasted from the main thread)) Suddenly a flare of oddly colored lights begin to eminate from Rasu's house. Ullue watches the dancing lights through a window at the inn. She smiles quietly. "It looks like Karasu's little one is ready," she says in her soft voice. "Then it shall be so." She takes a look around. "We cannot intrude while the process is taking place, but I can still show you what is happening..." An image forms before your eyes of the inside of Rasu's house, her relic glowing fiercely, and poor Rasu on her knees staring wide-eyed and confused... The lights around the nest swirl faster and faster, growing brighter with each passing moment. Intricate runes glimmer beautifully as they circle the relic counter clockwise. Such a mesmerizing display of light.. Rasu's eyes grow distant, as if she were listening to something.. Suddenly, the energy begins to pulse in waves, forcing Rasu away from the artifact as the magic hits its peak. A low keening rips through the area as a final sunburst of brilliant light explodes, momentarily obliterating your vision.... Youko let out a yelp, stumbling back slightly and winding up with his back pressed tot he tree as Chronos continued to show him the vision. "Is that... is that what happens when they emerge?" He glanced to Kujaku's relic then, barely noticing Chronos' nod. As your vision clears, you see a frazzled Rasu, her pupils mere pinpricks. She puts a hand to her face, rubbing her eyes to clear the phantom images from her sight. A tiny, confused sound, a voice. You see it. Lying curled in a ball in front of a completely unharmed relic. A child. An Ieldi.. Rasu crawls forward, tears already slipping unheeded down her chin. "Are you.. okay" she says in barely a whisper. The child looks up, its bright blue eyes fixing on Rasu. It slowly uncurls, its motions awkward, and sits with its knees pulled to its chest. The ieldi regards her friend of many weeks with a calculating, and somewhat frightened gaze. "Oh... my... gods..." Youko stared at the vision, eyes widened as he almost reached out to touch, then encountered the rippling effect of Chronos' illusion. "She's beautiful..." He could almost SEE the protesting spirit, and part of him hoped to see Kujaku like this soon. He glanced over his shoulder, looking to the relic. "I know, little one... she's not as beautiful as you." Ullue tillted her head at the vision. "Their masks... well. I thought the process might be a bit different here. And those runes on her skin. If I'm not mistaken they should fade in time." The deity smiles as she watches the newly reborn... Rasu crawls closer. "Do you remember me," she asks the now trembling ieldi girl. The ieldi nods slightly, her eyes now brimming with tears. "Then.. you know you.. can trust me..?" Rasu asks in a shakey voice. The ieldi's brow furrows for a second before she nods a second time. A moment of silence follows before the child whimpers and crawls forward to fling her arms around Karasu, weeping into the woman's shoulder. Ullue waves her hand and the vision fades. Youko smiled as the vision vanished, leaning back against the tree with tears streaking down his cheeks. "Beautiful..." he whispered, unable to really say anything else. A small echo, so quiet you wonder if you even heard it.. Rasu's voice, "Your name.. is Imriel"

Quote: Another emerging yesterday. It was so beautiful! I didn't get to see in person, but Chronos showed me later... Karma's little Ieldi emerged from the relic and is now getting to know the world again. I suppose this is all making me nervous. Everytime the wind blows a bit too hard, I start getting jumpy and checking Kujaku's relic every few minutes.
Soon. I keep telling myself it will be soon.
