A smirk met the joke, as well as a chuckle. However, he remained seated where he was looking at the kill, then at her, obviously not wanted to eat first.

"No. You first." he insisted, not budging from where he sat. If both remained this stubborn for a while, the buzzards would probably come running onto the scene with a cry of 'FOOOOOOOOOD', waving their feathers about in glee.

An amusing mental image indeed.

But still!

"I refused to eat until you have."

"...I thought the phrase was 'the lions share?' " Asherah raised an eyebrow, but she was pleased with such a situation. She reamined stubborn for a few minutes more before latching onto a leg and setting her teeth to work.

It was hard to tear off a haunch still attatched by bone and skin both, but she did it. Asherah let it drop and sat back down. She'd have this and more if there was any left, but the point was this - split into halves and she'd wait for him to take his.

"Thankyou, Auron. Very kind of you."

Auron seemed to settle for this compromise, and mimicked the action, pulling off the opposite leg and sitting with it. "Simply manners." he insisted, before starting on the peice he had taken, one paw placed firmly on it, as if half-expectant that something would try to take it from him.

Probably from some experience in the past.

Looking towards Asherah during a pause in his eating, he watched her, almost as if studying her habits, then again turned to his meal.

It's been a long time since I shared a meal with someone else...

Despite being what kindly lions would call 'lithe' and by most 'skinny as a twig', Asherah was clearly a girl who enjoyed her food. She tore off her mouthfuls and chewed with relish. Every scrap was going to be savoured, since it seemed to her she had time - no bolting down her food and running before numerous scavengers proved too much for a lone lioness.

Ash looked up and away a moment, to look about for any buzzards. Then it was back to the food. Yummy still-a-bit-warm food. Maybe if she had wings she'd be waving them with glee.

Auron seemed more protective of what he ate, than actually rushed. Though what he thought of the 'quick meal' (or what used to be a quick meal..) was unable to be read, due to a rather straight expression.

He was rather well about cleaning off the bones of the beast, now allowing much to be left of it when he had finished the peice, leaving the remains where they were, before putting his attention into biting into the neck of the beast, moving his meal to there, which would allow his companion free range on the body where she wished.

It was strange how mutually they agreed not to try and converse while eating.

Asherah hadn't had a chance to talk with anyone while she ate, beyond a quick 'bugger off' aimed at waiting scavangers who got too close. She wouldn't really know what to say to him anyway - thanks for the grub, again?

When finished with the haunch, briefly nibbling on the bone, she joined her friend at the carcass. Hmm....now some back meat...

For a moment, out of habit, he was ready to hiss at the presence of the stranger at his meal, but he forced it down. He'd already said it was alright. Besides, she wasn't a bird or something. They were travelling together, so he had to get used to it.. for a while.

It probably wouldn't be long after they split up that he'd break down into his former habits again.

---

Licking his teeth free of blood once he had finished with his meal, Auron sat by, waiting patiently for Asherah to finish, his back turned to her as to not make it seem like he was staring, while he looked over the scenery, considering what was there, and possible places they could, or would, be able to find a place to sleep in for the night.

".... Do you have any ideas on how much longer we'll be travelling today?"

Asherah came to sit down near him, lifting one forepaw to her mouth for a quick wash. Blood might not show on dark fur, but it'd attract flies and was disgustingly sticky.

"No. Until we're both tired, I suppose. Feeling sluggish after your meal?"

He watched the curious action of her cleaning her paws, before looking at his own, almost as if realizing he probably should as well, if only to not disgust her (or have dirt cling to it and get totally gross.. strange, he never thought of it like that..).

Mimicking the action to lick the blood from his own paws, Auron looked over to her, before snorting a bit in laughter, amused by it. "Simply asking. It is easier to consider where to spend the night, when you know where you will be."

True, he -was- feeling a bit sluggish, simply because it was a physical attachment which came with the digestion process. But it would go away with some walking.

"So I guess until at least one of us is too tired to keep walking sounds like a plan." he agreed.

"Well, I know where we could stay, if we reach it by tonight." She grinned, wondering if they would and what he'd think of it. She'd made that place so nice....Asherah would still be there if she hadn't been forced to move. No small prey lived nearby and back then she had been too young to hunt the larger.

She sighed and shook out her tiny mane-like tuft. Ash knew well enough that she felt sluggish because of the food. But she was looking forward to teh walk off as well.

Auron rose up to her feet the moment she said it. "Then we should resume our walk and see if we can, then." he concurred, standing still in almost a statue-like pose, or rather a lack of pose, simply motionless.

"If not, we can find something else that is nearby when it comes to that." he added, just to have a 'back up plan' up in the air.

He only remained standing there for a minute, before he put himself back into motion on their original course (or at least what had BEEN their original course before he'd gone running off).

This one.. was curious, he'd decided. Her attitude, and it seemed her personality, changed so freely, Auron wasn't sure if he was conversing with an adult OR with a cub at times.

Auron, Ash had decided, was a mostly silent but nice sort of guy. A wanderer too, which was always a plus. Pridals, as she remembered them, were usually too proud or too soft.

"The area is full of rocks, and there's many small caves and underhangs. Should be somewhere."

Asherah kept her pace brisk, enjoying the speed and the thinning of the grass as they went. The undergrowth was getting thicker, but a fern you can avoid. Long grass when it covers every square inch of the ground is less avoidable.

Auron, on the other paw, was unaware he'd had judgement passed on him, and simply followed alongside, looking most everywhere at everything, just... wanting to know what was there.

Observing was the best way to learn, wasn't it?

"I see.. rocks would make a good place to hide under. Keeps the weather and most danger out." he mused, approving of what he heard, noting the change in vegetation, and moving to prevent himself from going TUMBLING over one or the other.

Though the thought of Auron falling flat on his face was amusing.

"Just need to get a birds eye view to find it..."

A quick comment of explination before Asherah broke into a short run, giving her the momentum to get up on top of the first of the larger boulders. It was a big jump to make. The vines that climbed up one side helped her grip with her back claws on the rock surface, to pull the rest of her up easier. Nicely done.

"Well, this place hasn't changed. Just seems smaller - because I'm bigger, I suppose. If we head towards the third tree to the right, we'll end up at the den."

This wasn't so much a suggestion as a fact. They'd agreed to go there and that's how they'd do it. Ash felt confident and grown up, in knowing that.

Auron was a bit taken aback by how quickly she went running off, before he sat down, waiting patiently as she made way to find the location of where they had decided to go, again returning to his pose of being a statue.

The direction spoken of was where his attention turned to, looking off towards the trees, trying to decide which 'tree' started the row of 'to the right' for a moment, peering around the rock before finding that there were no other trees to the left of one of them.

That one must have been 'to the right', and the other two on it's right must have been the two that made third to the right.

Rising up again, he approached the three trees, and then stopped again, waiting for his companion to join him.
