The odd silence that follow between Mfuto's first time asking, and what would be the next, seemed... well.. ODD. It was out of place to Yua, who simply blinked, thinking over what felt like absolutely nothing....
then Mfuto asked, again, if they were there yet.
AAAAGH biggrin KJSFLK:... D<
Yua's eye twitched a bit, before he, again, looked back to the calico juvenile, frowning. "No. We're not. But I'll tell you when we are, so you don't need to ask, alright?" he repeated.
This conversation was going to get a bit cut-and-paste.

Mfuto nodded eagerly. Yua seemed upset about the question, but Mfuto wanted desperately to please him. "Alrighty! I won't askers!" Mfuto agreed in order that he might appease Yua. He hated for people to be upset with him. He was always afraid that Mag might be upset with him. Mag was always angry. He missed Mag. Mag and Uten. Especially Uten. He wondered what Uten was doing. Uten told him once that he'd teach him how to make a flower chain. Mfuto liked flowers. They were pretty and colorful. There were birds that were colorful too. They also made pretty songs. Mfuto had always wanted to learn to sing, but he couldn't make his mouth work right. His mouth felt dry. Weren't they supposed to be getting a drink or something?
Mfuto looked around curiously and blinked. Something, a thought, itched at the back of his mind. He forced it forward and looked up to Yua curiously. "Where is we?" he asked. Well, at least it wasn't 'Are we there yet?'.

That was a good question. Looking about, Yua decided to try and give a good name to where they were, frowning a bit. Well, it was grassy, and hot, and so far, very river-less... but he still was hopeful to finding one out in this direction....
THUS..
"We're in DryGrassia." he decreed, thinking it was a rather suitable answer, himself. At least.. what better name could their have been?
Then, satisfied with his answer, Yua resumed walking, head held high. Oh -river-... where -are- you? Perhaps mental inquiry wouldn't work. But at least it kept his hopes up.
And indeed, after a few minutes of walking aimlessly, if either was listening for it, the sound of running water could be heard. YIPEE!

Drygrassia? Well, that made sense to Mfuto. It sure looked awful dry and grassy to Mfuto. He was well satisfied with the answer. "Ohh..." he said, and left it at that because there really wasn't much else to say. Boy, was it dull in Drygrassia. He hoped they got to the river soon so they could start looking for...
...what were they looking for again? Oh well, it didn't matter much to Mfuto. Just as long as they were doing something.
Mfuto haulted abruptly and stumbled as he saw Yua stop. "What?" he asked. His ears twisted about in the air. It took him a second to place the sound, but when he did, he heard the river too. He gasped and bolted ahead, throwing up dust behind him. "YAAAAAAAAAAAY! RIVER!" He squealed as he dashed toward the sound at an impossible speed.

.... Woah.
Yua'd never seen ANYBODY change direction so quickly and go running off at such an impossible speed. In fact, for a few minutes, the adolscent shaman simply stared after him with a blank expression on his face. Water = happiness, he guessed.
Then, picking up his brain and it's scattered peices, he went trotting after the dust-trail left by the Calico-juvie at his own pace. Afterall, the river wasn't going anywhere....
and neither was Yua. (well, besides to the river, of course..)
He would've shared this thought with Mfuto too but a) it seemed to him that he would've forgotten it within moments and b) he was too far away to hear it now anyways.
So now, Yua had made a mental to-do list. Get a drink, and get a real name for 'Drygrassia'.

On first arriving at the river, Mfuto's first impulse was to plunge his head underwater. Now, this had completely failed to work for him on several occasions before. Of course, Mfuto was not the type to learn quickly. Therefore, as soon as he had skidded to a solid stop on the river's sandy banks, the first thing he did was... plunge his head underwater.
He stood like that for several moments, like an ostridge with it's head in the sand. After a while, though, he finally picked up his head, gasped for breath, and shook the water out of his mane. Briefly, there was a glimpse of... something... on his forehead, but soon his mane fell back into place, albeit sloppily, and it was gone. He peeked through his matted, wet hair and looked around for Yua. Eventually he spied the older lion ambling along in his trail. Grinning and flailing his paws, Mfuto squealed, "MISTER YUA! I FOUNDEDED THA RIVER!" He couldn't be more proud of himself for locating it. Now their quest was over, and they could...
They could...
Mfuto blinked. "Um... what was we a'posed ta be doin' at tha river agains?"

He'd admitted to himself several times that Mfuto wasn't that bright, but watching the juvenile, he couldn't help but simply laugh, shaking his head a bit as the boy ran off in glee, seeming to enjoy himself. However..... Yua had NEVER seen -ANYBODY- shove their head into a river without much of a thought. And while Yua himself was NOT that bright, he was PRETTY sure that Mfuto was incapable of breathing underwater.
He simply watched for a few minutes, pondering if he should've been DOING something to stop the kid, but it seemed he pulled his head out right when this notion entered his mind, bringing his thoughts to a complete halt.
Nodding to the child's announcement, Yua praised; "Yes.. yes you did. Congratulations on doing so, Mfuto." he said as he made his way to his side, looking at his reflection for a moment, before lapping up the water for a moment, lifting his head and licking more of the liquid off his lips. Why were they at the river again? Well...
"We wanted to see if anybody that may have been here knew where we could find an otter, or knew what an ottergraph was." he reminded, tapping the calico on the nose gently.

Sticking his head underwater was something Mfuto no longer thought much about... not that he thought much about it to begin with. Or thought much about anything at all. While it was uncomfortable, yes, it was the way he'd refreshed himself for a rather long time, now. Ever since he'd left his pridelands to strike out on his own. He found his mane still somewhat unpleasantly damp, so he shook himself again, but this time he achieved little with it. Surrendering to the wetness, Mfuto allowed Yua's words entrance to his brain.
He smiled proudly and held himself high at the older lion's congratulations. Clearly he had done well, and could not be more pleased of the fact. He remained quite absorbed in his pride until Yua responded to his question. With that, he dropped back to his normal, slouching, wide-eyed stance and murmured, "Oh yeaaaaaahs..." He glanced around the river, looking for signs of an otter. Of course, Mfuto had no idea what an otter was, what it would look like, or how he could tell if one had been there. Not that it mattered much, little Mfuto didn't see signs of anything on this river.
"Ummm... Mister Yua..." Mfuto murmured, "I dun see nothin's..." And he literally meant nothing. There didn't seem to be a single sign of life at this river... it was eerie.

Yua agreed with the statement, his fur sticking up on end a bit. It still felt like SOMETHING was there, and the feeling was quite familiar to Yua. However, he couldn't put his paw on it exactly. Looking into the water to study his reflection, the shaman forced his thoughts to settle and calm, before looking back to Mfuto.
"Hmm... that is a good observation, Mfuto.. there -is- nothing here..." he replied, expression twisting a bit, almost as if he was in pain. Perhaps he was simply thinking too hard, and should have just ignored whatever the feeling was that he had.
But it was hard to ignore the sensation that he wasn't alone. For now, he wouldn't say anything on it. Afterall.. it would probably be wasted on Mfuto, who wouldn't understand.
"What do you think we should do now then?" Yua inquired, pacing back and forth in a sort of 'I'm impatient/thinking' manner.

She KNEW that she saw the kid over here. She recognized the colours the SECOND she glanced in this direction a few minutes ago. And now Mag was half running, half walking-very-annoyed-like towards the river. She and Uten had been hunting for Mfuto for a while, but the kid just kept evading them.
But not this time. Targets were locked and she went in for the kill, so to speak. She was glad to have finally tracked him down, all this searching really cut into her free time. Time that could've been spent corrupting the youth and educating others about THE MAN. She frowned and pressed on, darting between the stalks of grass. They were like trees next to her unusually-small-for-a-genet frame.
"Mfuto!" She called out, hoping to get the lion's attention and she came up behind him.
Wait. Something was different.
Damnit. EVERYONE was getting bigger. Her frown deepend as her brow creased. Nature wasn't fair.

Yua seemed concerned, and that upset Mfuto. If Yua was concerned, then there really must be something to be concerned about. Mister Yua was an awful lot smarter than Mfuto, after all. He shivered a little. Couldn't help it. He couldn't even conjure up an answer to Yua's question. He had no idea what to do. All he could think to do was ask, "Mister Yua, what does you think scare-ed all the animumals aways?"
Then, from behind his back, he heard a call. That voice... it was familiar. He turned about, stared with his green eyes wide, and gasped. "MAAAAAAG!" he squealed. He bolted towards the little genet and stopped just short of tackling her. She seemed... smaller, after all. He couldn't help but throw his paws around her for a hug, though, whether she liked it or not. "Mag, I missded you!" he declared. Tears sprung to his eyes. His friend! He couldn't be happier. Well... this certainly explained the absence of the animals, anyway. She probably scared them off hollering something about "the man."
He turned to Yua and beckoned him over with a paw. "Mister Yua, this ish mah friend Mag!"

"I don't kno-" Yua was quickly interuptted by the sudden squeal of joy of something that he was QUITE unable to quite tell what it was that was said. However, it didn't take him long to figure out that it was some sort of NAME, when it was labelled that it was a creature of some sort that was suddenly LUNGED at without warning.
So the brown adolescent simply sat back in the grass, watching the pair with a sort of half-assed interest. Really, it had been a while ago, he'd decided he really should have been getting to work on where it was he was getting lost to, but... it wouldn't have been nice of him to leave the kid on his own, at the least.
In fact, he'd been so tempted, as soon as Mag came into the picture, to make his stealthy get-away. But attention was soon turned back to him, causing him to sigh heavily, and sneak forward to be introduced to what... looked like aaaaaa.......
Genet? Seemed like a reasonable guess.
"Mag?" he considered. He'd probably forget it. "Why, how strange it is we happened to meet one of your friends out here, Mfuto.."
Yua's attention then turned to Mag. "It's nice to meet you Mag, I'm Yua."

Ugh. Hugging. She should've guessed this would happen. "Yeah yeah reuinions are wonderful and crud like that." She squirmed in his grasp. This was a lot harder now that he was bigger. Everything seemed like it was getting bigger.. Even Uten. And she just stayed the same.
She glanced over at the other lion, her eyes narrowing. "You're not working for the man, are you?" She eyed him up and down.

Mfuto beamed endlessly as he mercilessly hugged Mag, oblivious to her discomfort. Her grumpy mutterings were just about the nicest thing he could hope to come out of her mouth, so he relished it. "I's so happy to sees you!" Mfuto declared. "I thought I losted you forevers!" He finally released the wriggling Mag and backed off. "Is we gonna go see Uten!?" he inquired eagerly. He hoped so; Uten was his bestest-bestest friend, after all.
He frowned a bit as Mag began to interrogate Yua and shook his head. "Nuuuuu Mag..." he said. "Mister Yua ish my friend. He not workin' for nobody." He looked to Yua. "Aren't that true?" He certainly believed it to be true. If Yua were working for this "the man", then nature probably wouldn't be beating him up so much. Mfuto had come to believe that this spooky, shadowy figure known only as "the man" had evil super powers, or something of the like.

"I work for nobody, little Mag." Yua replied, prodding at the Genet with a paw, then looking between the juvenile and the Genet as they spoke, or rather were spoken at, a bit of a smile playing at his lips. How long had it been since -he- had bore such a relationship with anybody?
Definately a long time.. if ever.
Yua considered the name offerred, Uten, and folded his paws a bit.
"Perhaps you should go see this 'Uten'. I bet he misses you.." Yua suggested, setting his paws back down.
He needed to get MOVING, and this seemed like an opportune place for him to take his leave.
