Their walk was silent. Shizuka didn't mind the silence, at least. The feline still followed him and made the teal-haired male sigh. If he thought that the neko was kidding before, it was wiped now. Despite his annoyance, he welcomed the company even if his expressions remained blank.
Their moment of silence broke when the neko spoke and told him his name. Haruka. It is a nice name, he figured. Shizuka was reluctant to give his name but Haruka just gave him his. It is impolite not to do the same. "Haruka." He muttered the other's name before shrugging. "Call me Shizuka, then." At least this is a lot better than calling his current companion "You" or something else that the vampire surely won't find amusing.
Shizuka watched Haruka look at a building and followed him quietly. Its not like there's anything he could say at the moment. His right hand stuck close to his pocket where one of his hidden knives are. While Haruka did say he'd protect him, Shizuka isn't that keen to trust someone who is just about to kill him earlier. This is just for self-defense, though, if the vampire isn't really planning anything strange.
Once they arrived at the building, Shizuka looked around before entering through the hole. The place is okay to spend the night, at least. He waited for Haruka to follow as he looked around. "I guess this is okay." He said and looked at the feline. "Just don't do anything weird, please?"

'Shizuka, I'll remember that name.' Haruka smiled a bit while he was looking away from the other. At least they were on terms of their names, it was a much easier way to speak. When he found the building and pointed it out, he could only wait and see if Shizuka would enter it or not. Of course he wasn't blind to the situation. If he were human with a vampire, he would hesitate too probably. Luck would have it though that this time, the young man passed him after Haruka fed, or during actually. The feline wasn't thirsty for the moment.
Shizuka eventually entered the building and Haruka followed in tow. Once inside he looked around for a moment. There was no roof anymore, it looked like it had collapsed into the building long ago. It's debris was spread over the inside, one ending in quite a steady pile that would provide some extra protection against the elements and possible dangers. The vampiric feline walked to the pile and sat down between it so it was covering him from the sides and his back. This way any threat would have to come from the front.
When he heard Shizuke's last words though, the feline huffed a bit and chuckled. "Don't flatter yourself to much, I prefer my partners more manly." he replied. It wasn't even an attempt to scorn the other, it was just a fact. Any males that Ruka had been with in his life and unlife had been strong individuals. "I won't try anything to you." he said a little more seriously, more like a promise. After that Ruka folded his arms behind his head and leaned back against the collapsed roof. This would be the best way to spend this night, a little more protected from everything outside.
"Now doomed to be alone forever, will I live beyond my hidden pain?"
Shizuka watched as Haruka settled himself before choosing an area far from him as possible. Why had he felt so strongly for this man again? The boy sat down, thinking about his life choices.
And of course Haruka would comment that way. Shizuka merely gave him a deadpan look before replying. "Flatter myself? I am not talking about that. What do I care about your preferences, anyway?" Shizuka then let a small pebble sail in the air and hit the other in the head. Not strong enough to hurt, just to annoy the vampire. "Jerk."
Just how long is Haruka planning on staying with him anyway? Shizuka closed his eyes to let sleep take over him as he thought about it. As annoying as Haruka can be sometimes, Shizuka thought, much to his ire, that maybe his company is... nice. Sleep took over him before he could notice the feeling in his chest signifying that he created a bond.

Haruka shrugged a bit when Shizuka picked a place far away from him. It really would be safer for them to sit with him in the sheltered area, but if they preferred to stay there, then so be it. The feline grinned a bit when the other reacted to his comment and chuckled though he stopped when the pebble hit him on the head. With a sigh Ruka rolled his eyes a bit. Soon after the other fell asleep however. They must have been more tired than they had led on. Or perhaps Ruka chasing them had worn them out, that was a possibility too.
Silently the vampire watched Shizuka from afar. It was true he needed some sleep too, especially if they wanted to move on when the day would break and rouse them from their sleep. Most vampires would find a place to settle where the sun wouldn't reach them, but Ruka hadn't bothered. After all the daylight didn't hurt him. He had no reason to fear it like the other vampires.
It was strange to be watching someone else across of him, to not be sleeping alone for the first time in a long time. Even if they kept as large a distance as possible. Ruka yawned and stretched, before he curled himself up on his spot in the surrounding rubble, though his sleep would be light now he had decided to keep around Shizuka for some company for a while. It wouldn't help much if they would get murdered on the first night.
"Now doomed to be alone forever, will I live beyond my hidden pain?"
Hours had passed when Shizuka woke up, blinking the sleep off his eyes. It took him a while to gather his thoughts by staring blankly at the space in front of him. When he looked up to see the red-haired male, Shizuka was confused for a moment before remembering last night's events. Right. Haruka.
Standing up and stretching his limbs, Shizuka wondered where they'll go next. Going out of the city is dangerous for a while, one reason he stayed in the city for some time. Maybe roam around for a while until he gathered his strength. And...
"Morning, Haruka." He greeted the other just because. Shizuka checked himself if the knives are in place, a routine he had gotten used to everytime he woke up from sleep. He didn't have anything of value on him, after all. "How long are you going to keep following me?" He asked Haruka once he's done, giving the other a blank stare. Not like he didn't like Haruka's presence or anything.

The feline had slept pretty well, despite light because he gotten used to that in case of trouble. Nothing really had woken him overnight that would be considered a threat. Haruka was still nice asleep when his ears twitched a bit at the sound of a voice in a short distance and he opened his eyes and yawned, baring his canines for a moment while doing so. The sentences went a bit by him at the moment but he heard them well enough.
They really didn't waste much words did they? Ruka finally looked over at Shizuka, only to be met with another one of those blank dead stares. He'd almost confuse the guy for a freakin zombie, were it not he felt all to well they were very alive yesterday. "Who knows, maybe I'll haunt you forever and till eternity." he joked somewhat. Not that he really planned to do that, after all there never was a forever with him except for his doomed life.
Since they couldn't do much else but keep moving, the vampire got up and stretched himself. "Morning. I guess we better get moving, or risk being tracked down by whoever. This world is not a very friendly one." he said and walked towards Shizuka a bit. They would have to exit the same hole they came into this building and Haruka passed by and looked outside. He saw no one around though, so the coast was clear.
A light shrug came from the feline and he looked back at Shizuka. "It looks like no one is out there. It should be safe to move further in." he clarified. Though he was joking about the forever, he would stick around the other while he could. He felt the same as yesterday, despite the blank stares and short answers. It was good to have some company again.
"Now doomed to be alone forever, will I live beyond my hidden pain?"
The teal-haired male blinked at the joke before realization hit him. Great, he and the vampire are stuck together. That aside, Shizuka only watched as Haruka moved, thinking that there might be something else behind the joke. Vampires, from what he understood, lived for a long time. It is a curse to live a long life if only to watch the people dear to them grow old and die before them. Was Haruka the same?
Shizuka snapped out of his thoughts and flinched when he realized that Haruka is looking at him. He got lost in thought. Slipping back into his expressionless mask, Shizuka approached the male with a nod before tilting his head. "Where do we go, though?" He asked. Yesterday he was just walking aimlessly until he encountered Haruka's... business. He had no destination in mind, really, and knew better than to head out of the city at the moment in his weak state. He knew Haruka said that he'd protect him but Shizuka didn't like dragging others into danger.
"We're stuck together. So I might as well go where you go." He said to the other before exiting the building.

"Tired of being trapped in a coffin, far from my Liege I ran."
--:::------::-------------------⛥--------------------::------:::--- HP: 100/100 Place: Back Alleyways, Ozymandias Company: Shizuka Outfit: White unbuttoned blouse and black jeans, collar with (silent) cat bell Status: Healthy Theme:Vampire's Curse --:::------::-------------------⛥--------------------::------:::---
"Anywhere that looks safe enough." was his reply to Shizuka's question. It wouldn't do to get caught by one of the greedy masters that walked these lands. Not just for Shizuka either. Ruka needed to be free so he could hunt, if he ever got caught by one of these men, he wouldn't know if he would get enough blood to live. After a glance to Shizuka as they exited the building, the feline followed close after. He hadn't missed their flinch. So they did know how to show expressions.
"I don't have any goal in mind myself. I just know that at the moment the city is the best bet. When I arrived here I passed a lot of places that didn't look at all friendly. There is even a camp made of humans for structures." he shared with his reluctant companion. He had passed many such places and usually got away quite well, but they were not good for hunting grounds and at least two of them would pose a problem for Shizuka.
Even as such though, Haruka did his best not to get to attached to the blue haired male. He knew where that would lead. A shade of sorrow from the past fell over his expression for a moment, but by the time he turned around to Shizuka, he smiled a bit and grinned. "Still, wouldn't the city be the better choice either way? There is a lot to be found around here that can be useful." It wouldn't help the vampire to get hung up on past trouble and difficulties, this was the time to live in the moment, cause who knew how long he would have company this time. It might end soon, or much later.
After those words, the feline walked back through the alley as he made his way through the streets as well as he could without being detected by possible other entities. The main streets would be more open and perhaps more populated, but it was better than just stick to the dank alleyways. "Do you even have food at hand for when you need it?" he asked Shizuka as he led them to the main streets. He, himself, didn't need food as much, but perhaps Shizuka did.
"Now doomed to be alone forever, will I live beyond my hidden pain?"
Shizuka listened as Haruka spoke, almost reeling at the thought of humans being used as structure. How does that even work? That is one place he wouldn't ever visit if he ever went out to travel again. It was after that that Shizuka stared at the other's back, expression unreadable. This is something he knew he can't help Haruka with. Whatever he is facing now, he will have to face it himself. "Alright." He replied and left it at that before following the feline out of the alley to the streets.
He made sure to stick close to Haruka, knowing well how his already low presence can cause people to bump to him. One guy almost bumped him had he not moved away quickly and jogged to catch up with the vampire. Fortunately, he made it to his side just as the other asked a question. "I don't eat... much. But I'll get some when I need it." He answered. Some say it was unhealthy and often teased his height because of it, much to his annoyance. Stealing is nothing new for Shizuka, he needed to do so for survival if there is nothing for him to scavenge. He would have asked the other the same until he remembered his promise.
Right, no talking about him being a vampire. Shizuka only gave him a look, a silent question. How about you? He's curious but he also needs to know so he'll know when to hide and wait for the other to return.
It was understandable that Honey was quiet while they dashed out of sight into the more secluded alleyways of the city. It was rarely safe to make too much noise out here and Lokeah wouldn’t have been surprised to know that the other male had a lot on his mind right now. There was no reason to pry and cause unnecessary conversation.
What was this though? Lokeah was catching himself falling into bad habits again, thinking of Honey as something that could potentially be trusted. No, that wasn’t quite right. He was trusting Honey. Enough to carelessly turn his back on the other man who had no knowledge of strength or abilities. He had to be something special if he was important to St.Vier after all. That was dangerous.
Lokeah gasped when he noticed this, fumbling in his steps and pulling his hand away as he hopped down the alley and spun to face Honey. He gave a smile that would almost seem like he was embarrassed and said, “Ah, I know it was something Vier liked to do… but I was so caught up in fear that I forgot my own customs! Hand holding is for lovers silly~!” That was a lie of course. He was plenty touchy feely even with strangers up until today. Ah but the little smile he gave came and went in a flicker. Seeing the other males face only seemed to bring this young god uncertainty…
He didn’t like not knowing what this man was thinking.
“Anyhow uhm… there’s underground tunnels. I found them once but the entrances are generally overgrown or buried if you’re lucky enough to spot em’.” He said, his eyes scanning every inch of the street from the spot that he stopped in(about 5 feet away from Honey maybe?) and he kicked at pieces of the corroded wall beside them. “It’s up to you if yer gonna follow me. Like I said before… you’re a free man now. I don’t mind the company, but you’re gonna have to help me find a good place to hide and rest if you stick around... and maybe not be so quiet?” He wanted to say it was creepy but... ah he was trying to be nice for now.

••• Honey Honey blinked slowly at Lokeah’s first assertion, fingers twitching at his side. He kept them away, arm stiff at his side. It probably looked like he was offended, a feeling that could have been compounded by his answer, ”No, that’s not right.” An awkward response, to be sure. But he was trying to remain focused on just moving away, on not thinking of anything particular except for Lokeah’s form, and the man was making that more difficult, so he’d answered without thinking about it.
Honey had never had a lover--as far as he remembered, anyway. He’d certainly had sex with people, as part of their training, as a punishment, at least one time as a reward, but that was of course very different. He’d also held many a hand in his time with St. Vier. When he thought a slave just couldn’t handle any more training that day, when they were just sobbing and close to breaking the useless way where they wouldn’t be usable for anything other than cannon fodder or paralyzed sex object, Honey would sit by them and hold their hand. Starved as such slaves were for any positive attention, mostly they didn’t turn on him when he did it, much as it would have made better sense to take the opportunity to attack.
He did understand Lokeah’s ‘anyway’ as a change of subject, and he tried to focus on Lokeah’s words instead of Lokeah himself. He didn’t exactly know how to tell the man that it was necessary for him, at least while they were in transit, to find a way not to think about--anything. That thinking of nothing was impossible, so he really had to focus. That he was already freaking out, wondering where all the Kirs had been when they’d left.
He swallowed heavily rather than do anything, but did plant his heels, stopping moving. The idea of being a ‘free man’, in some ultimate sense, was far too overwhelming to do anything but stick in the gears of his mind. His mouth opened and closed a few times; he eventually slowed heavily and with an audible click.
”We know about the tunnels” he whispered, low enough Lokeah would have to try to listen.
”We know about the tunnels”[b]”We don’t pluck from them much; it’s good that there’s a place to look for particularly desirable targets.”[//b] He lowered his eyes with this, realizing as he said it the terrible reality behind the businesslike recitation. He closed his eyes, trying again.
”We shouldn’t stop until we reach the edges of the city. There are safer places, places we don’t want to interfere with.” He emphasized the ‘we.’
”Strong raider clans. The Silver Claw Inn.” The inn was an interesting story; it was interesting, really, that it was allowed to exist at all. But Guilty Pleasures had always gotten its food from the inn, so St. Vier had avoided it, and other masters seemed to have taken marching orders from Honey’s master.
That was… an understandable response to Lokeah’s equally awkward action that caused him to pull away from Honey. Even with so many creatures from many different upbringing’s there was likely none that would believe what he said. However, it at least gave him the distance needed to react if the other male tried anything… Lokeah still hoped he wouldn’t. They’d come so far.
It was difficult not to notice just how uncomfortable the other male was, even after Lokeah reassured him of his new position in the world. He thought that would be a comfort to a man that had been in captivity under that evil man for god knows how long, but now the young god was starting to realize just how little he knew about Honey. Just how little he could understand about what was going through his head right now, what he might be fighting internally. It was so uncommon that he would even care… but this escape alone was causing Lokeah to grow attached to the other, just a little.
When the other man started speaking of the tunnels, ah it was far too quiet. Lokeah had to strain himself and takes steps to grow closer once again, which he didn’t particularly like. He liked it far less when he knew exactly what Honey was saying and his heart plummeted, eye’s showing signs of discomfort and nervousness at the thought of even the underground was unsafe despite its structure.
“They’re… not safe?” He said in a defeated tone, yet nothing that would signal the other to stop speaking or respond to it. Thinking out loud if you will.
Before he’d wanted to rest and take refuge within the city lines, Lokeah had thought about the raider clans. However his encounters with them had never been pleasant and the entire reason why he found himself wandering these streets in the first place. He viewed those men as something just as dangerous as a master and at times worse.
A frown came to his face and arms crossed against his chest as he thought, “Quit saying ‘we’ like you’re still one of them.” He started, trying to make it clear that, no, he didn’t like the thought the Honey could still be an enemy. “The raider clans are… difficult. One of em’ attacked me at my friends shrine a while back… but that inn… what is it?”
The inn hadn’t been established in the days that Lokeah had still lingered up in the northern region, nor was it there after his friend’s death when he was forced into the city. He’d simply never encountered such a place. Oh but the rush of these old thoughts hurt. His heart hurt. Those days were just so much easier.
Lokeah stepped back a couple steps, as if taking Honey’s warning and wanting to continue on, seeing if he’d be forced to pull this man along again.

••• Honey There would be other moments when he’d have to battle himself, but the purely factual nature of Lokeah’s response was centering—rather, it allowed him to function as more of a tool for Lokeah’s mission to find a safe location, rather than a person proper. He was much more comfortable with that.
”The Silver Claw Inn. It’s existed on the edges of Ozymandias for at least six years, to my knowledge. The founder has since left, but it still appears to be in functioning condition. It is as it calls itself, basically—an inn. There are a limited number of rooms, which are meant to be master and slave neutral, and a small tavern.” He stopped, unsure how much to editorialize.
”St. Vier doesn’t mess with it, or hasn’t. One of his friends gets h is supplies from there, and so he lets it run unmolested generally, though there have been incidents of his targets running to there. They were all low interest targets, so that wouldn’t necessarily apply to either of us…but if we arrive disguised, or under false names, it’s probably our best shot outside of throwing ourselves at the mercy of a raider clan.”
He nodded his head, acknowledging Lokeah’s bad experience. It was unremarkable compared to a life of slavery, but of course worse than a comparable life with no one attacking at all. Honey couldn’t think about that applied to him, but if he kept the idea abstract it made sense.
He didn’t know what to do with the other man’s comment that ‘we’ didn’t include Honey anymore. That—was that true? He wasn’t sure yet. Maybe it did. He couldn’t rule it out.
He took another step forward without acknowledging it, pointing in the direction of the inn, through the markets.
”You could purchase a disguise on our way through.” It felt odd to put himself in this ‘we,’ as opposed to the other. He looked balefully up at his antlers; there was little chance of disguising them. An antlered man would be very distinctive to anyone who asked.
Six years. Yeah that sounded about right when Lokeah looked back at how long it had been since he’d visited the northern forests. Had it… really been that long since Asher faded away…? He shook his head, not to rid himself of Honey’s words but of his own thoughts.
“So, your point is that he might not come looking there? Even if he did, he wouldn’t act violently without some logic to it.” Lokeah said. “Good enough for me... That's basically, as safe as you can get these days.” He was beginning to like the idea of taking refuge in such a place, and he really didn’t need Honey to elaborate further if they were going to head their themselves. He was fully aware that not every abide by the rules, but his main concern now was the master that had already captured him once.
His eyes followed the other male’s arm, down to the tip of his finger, as he pointed out towards the markets. Despite it being a decent place for supplies and food it wasn’t the safest route but, as Honey pointed out, it could be necessary. And what was this? Did he just say our instead of your? That was honestly refreshing after Lokeah’s previous comment.
He nod in a silent approval of that fact before he’d answer, “Mmmm, thing is. Kinda lost any money I had back at Vier’s place… You into creating a distraction so I can snag something?” Yes, Lokeah had an extent of being able to disguise himself with magic. Illusionary magic could mask clothes and transformation could change his face… but he knew that in this moment that it was best spared. Just in case. That and he could only do so much with Honey.
Then Lokeah pat his head starting to walk backwards down the street. “Yer a little obvious with these though, so I’ll use a bit of magic while we’re there to try and hide these kay? Can’t have us easily identified even in a crowded place like that.” It would be a simple illusionary spell that creates a distortion, perhaps only to the extent of masking their form into something else and less recognizable.
