Scath na hOiche Before establishing an actual story line, what about figuring out what elements are most desired, such as genre, magic vs. science, what races are most wanted, etc.? I saw mention of quite a few mythical creatures. I know I tend to go for some genres more than others, and genres in general are all over the board and even cross-breed, and each genre often has its own specific races, unless you merge a couple genres together. With that, as an idea, what about something kind of like Final Fantasy in the respect that it has a mesh of magic and science, humans and mythological creatures, and is stuck somewhere between the past and futuristic in regards to technology and landscape? As for story line, what about also mixing a few of the ideas in the poll? For example, the world is headed to disaster or already in an apocalyptic-like state thanks to an outbreak of the undead (ghouls, zombies, skeletons, whatever) caused by science experiments gone wrong. The only way to keep the world from falling to total destruction is to find a magic something-or-other that leads to an artifact with the power to control the undead, a something-or-other that all races are trying to find, some for different reasons than others. However, one of the original scientists has discovered that the legion of undead follows his orders, and he becomes corrupt, so his evil is constantly pursuing those after the something-or-other and artifact to keep them from ruining his reign over the world. Then, vampires could want to get the something-or-other and whatnot because they are categorized as being undead. That covers "Imminent disaster/Apocalyptic," "Grand search for person/item," "Relentlessly pursued by great evil," and "Survival/Escape from danger." Just a few thoughts. Hope they help. could they look for full-dragons to save them from the half-dragons they made that gone mad??? you mad scientists would make the half-dragons, then others would look for real dragons to get rid of them, and the war can smash the world up enough to be apocalyptic some, and then the full-dragons and them human friends have to keep the scientists from making matters worse...(they be plot to make more half-dragons for them revenge). and that would have dragons in it smile

A few words come to mind...stubborn, inflexible...You can't always have your way-especially in the RP world. You need to formulate a character based on what a particular RP calls for, NOT just what you WANT to play. It's a bit of give and take. You can be a humanoid dragon perhaps, but not a full-fledged dragon. Characters have to be humanoid in appearance so they can better relate to each other. Humanoids are what is commonly accepted here on Gaia. The rare exception is wolf RPs where the characters are roaming around as wolf packs, but those are often played from the perspective of WEREwolves in the fact that the wolves can shapeshift into human form.
You'll better fit into RPs of all sorts if you find a human-like character that you can play. That is an entirely different story line for a much different RP then one with the base that I used for an example/suggestion. Clyvelle makes a great point. I get that you like your dragon character (I am partial to certain races myself), but you cannot expect a RP to adapt just so you and only you can play with a favored character. It is the other way around; the player adapts a character to fit into the desired RP. me know it all could they look for full-dragons to save them from the half-dragons they made that gone mad??? you mad scientists would make the half-dragons, then others would look for real dragons to get rid of them, and the war can smash the world up enough to be apocalyptic some, and then the full-dragons and them human friends have to keep the scientists from making matters worse...(they be plot to make more half-dragons for them revenge). and that would have dragons in it smile

(is not sure what is we all posting here now...) we don't have the RP yet? (we is here working on ideas for it?) i have orange plushy that is half human/ half dragon, would he work??? Oh, yeah, I know it has not been made yet. Your persistence to be capable of using your full dragon character in any scenario is what brought that comment. And yeah, I know there are plenty of others out there who like dragons, myself among them. My point was that that is one of the more difficult races to incorporate into a RP without giving him/her a humanoid form--unless twenty-foot tall flying lizards are normal in every-day life--and creating a personality based off how the specific RP background would effect the character. me know it all we is not asking for the RP to adapt (it hasn't been made yet...) we are give idea that we like to have dragons in the RP, so it can be made that way.... others like dragons too??? (why do you think we is the only one who likes dragons?) i see... there is more chance that dragons would be "not" normal in the RP set up... so they be hard to work in, but we could still work it smile (even if plushy don't fit, we can make a dragon that would fit...we just need more of the RP stuff set so we know what we have to work with...(like shape matching?) only we don't know how to help here....is kind of lost with what ideas are needed right now...?)

So, I missed some stuff sweatdrop
Well, as for my two cents, I'm really okay with any RP idea. I can usually adapt. Though sometimes I struggle with stereotype RPs. (Like where there are characters that have pre-written profiles attached and you can't make your own).
I generally prefer something fantasy/supernatural, but I have done several apocalypse RPs and I'd like to be in one that isn't a jumbled mess of "let's add this and then let's add that even though it doesn't make sense!" So, I like Scath's concept. I have a similar concept written down somewhere, and I can post it if y'all want.
Also, do y'all really know how to deal with autism? Cause, no offense, but it seems like you don't. It might just be me reading from the sidelines, but yeah..

It might just be me reading from the sidelines, but yeah.. um...no? most the time they tell me to not worry about it...so i don't know whats wrong, just that we have autism (and it make my grammar and spelling bad.) are we making plots or backgrounds? (or is gerna you working on somehow decide both?)

Go ahead and post your concepts. I think we can tell who the more active members of the RP will be based on who is posting here to help, so...just something to think about there. this makes the brain storm hard??? ok, some ideas... no stereotype RP, we want to make our own profile so we can fit a dragon in the RP. try to avoid systems (or use only simple ones), so we not confused much... (i still have to learn much about systems). make the plot mystery some, that should keep you as leader, only you could add clues/hints as the RPers run around, (looking for something/having fun). hope this helps some... confused

(unless you wanted it to be the villain, though it still take some work...)
