Gaston felt a little bit of apprehension at closing his eyes but since it was a condition on seeing what Kumiho described as horrible Gaston decided that he would humor her request. He caught her gaze as she looked deep into his own eyes and he felt a twinge of something he couldn't yet name. It was a strange thing to feel a frisson of fear after looking into a golden/yellow gaze of such a lovely beauty.

Gaston shifted his weight a little before letting his gaze sweep across the nearby quarry. Reluctantly he let his eyes close as he stilled his motions. "You may begin."

Kumiho smiled and stepped back, watching him carefully. The excitement was causing her insides to twist in anticipation - she had to be careful. She knew exactly what she wanted to do...but it took great restraint for the skinwalker not to just rip out his throat and bathe in his blood just here and now.

But she had something better in mind. And she had to get it just right. She had to calculate her strike just perfectly...she would only have one chance to get the shot she wanted.

She calculated. She took a deep breath. Steady now...

She licked her lips and tails twitched behind her happily. It would be only take a minute if she did this right.

As she exhaled, she lurched forward with her claws and with expert precision thrust them deep into his eyes. She let out a squeal of delight as she felt her razor-sharp claws rend into the soft flesh. She constricted her paws, grasping, and raked them with a surprising strength for her size downwards, making sure he would never, ever see again.

What Gaston had been expecting was a sound of something rather bulky being shifted and landing on the ground as Kumiho would have shed the pelt that kept her marked skin hidden. He would have looked upon the mark and decide whether or not to continue his association with the mare. The sounds that he was straining to hear though never materialized. He grew puzzled at Kumiho's sudden intake of breath and thought that perhaps now it would be safe to look.

He never got the chance.

The very sudden presence that Gaston felt directly in front of him brought confusion for a split second. He began to question what Kumiho was doing before he felt a slight breeze. That would have been the last warning he got before his very being exploded into a million shards of deep, lancing waves of pain that refused to fade. What could only be described as a cross between a shriek and a bellow passed through Gaston's lips as he tried to shake himself loose from whatever had grabbed a hold of him. The sensation of claws digging into his eye sockets and constricting around the flesh of his eyes was too much. He swore he almost heard the flesh give way with a sickening pop. Gaston was under siege. He heard a squeal and thought that perhaps Kumiho was under attack as well. The fading chance that he could do anything to fend off his own attacker and come to her aid was all but lost to him. The agony he had felt before paled in comparison. Gaston heard a roaring sound in his ears. He sensed the pulpy remains of what had been perfectly formed flesh minutes ago dribble out from the orbital cavity and down onto his face. The pain was too intense for the stallion to remain coherent. Gaston's legs buckled and he went down hard to the ground. The jolt from his awkward fall reignited the pain lashing his mind and it became too much for even him.

With one last gasped word his consciousness fled. Had he have known whom it was that had caused this injury that word might have been different. As it was his concern for the mare caused a mere whisper of her name to pass through his lips.

"You stupid, silly stallion," she cackled as he went down. Kumiho had to force herself not to go much further. Her stomach rumbled and her muscles twitched at the sight of all that blood - it was tempting to keep going...

But again, she forced herself to stop, laughing gleefully until she realized he had gone unconscious. She sighed a bit in disappointment before sitting down and beginning to lick her paws clean, not unlike a cat. The deed had been done and now she just had to wait for him to wake up so she could revel in her torture alittle more.

For now, she waited, watching the buzzards circle overhead with a satisfied grin.

At first there was nothing to indicate that Gaston would ever regain consciousness. If one was observant enough they would have realized that the stallion's stomach rose and fell the a rhythmic pattern known as breathing. That would have been the most obvious sign that he was still alive. The words that Kumiho spoke registered on deaf ears. The mind had effectively gone on a little vacation. Signals went unheard. Pain had a way of shutting the body down and Gaston had received a dose that was too large for him to handle by far.

It would take a few hours to pass in this silence before other signs began to appear that consciousness was returning. The main indicator was that of a constant low moaning sound passing through Gaston's lips. Nothing else registered in his mind except for blinding pain. His brain had decided to focus on only that it seemed. His legs jerked in a delayed response before stilling themselves. An ear twitched, and twitched again as if to cast off an annoying fly. All these signs indicated that somewhere inside, conscious thought was returning in full strength. But as this process occurred so did the resurgence of earth-shattering pain. A loud cry tore involuntary from Gaston as his brain was bombarded with constant signals from his face, ones that spoke of nothing but agony.

"There you are," she growled, a predatory, smug tone to her voice. "I was beginning to get hungry and having serious thoughts about eating you," she said when he began to moan and stir a bit.

"Do you remember me? Remember my face?" Gaston could tell it was the same velvety voice of the mare he had met, but now all sweetness and innocence to the voice was gone. "Remember it well - hold onto every details you can. Sear it into your brain, silly thing, for it was the last thing you will ever see, and I don't want you forgetting my face," she hissed, his lips just inches from his ear.

At first Gaston's brain couldn't comprehend the words being spoken. As he recognized the voice though the words were brought into sharp clarity. Each word that was dripped into his ear burned just as much as the resounding pain from behind his eyes. The sudden lancing pain that had brought wrought on him came back in startling clarity. There was a constant throbbing developing again behind his eyes and another moan passed unwillingly from deep within. The name of the mare came back to him suddenly and Gaston felt the part of the naive fool. How could this have happened?

"Kumiho," her name was growled in a low murmur. The deceiving, wily creature had done this to him. Further interpreting her words and the throbbing pain that continued to press in on him had the stallion realizing that she'd literally clawed his eyes out. Perhaps that popping sensation had not been pure imagination.

Gaston's head swung upwards without warning. From how close Kumiho sounded he was positive that some portion of his head would connect with her own. It was the only consolation Gaston could hold onto as the move was ill thought out. Now that he was awake to notice ... he couldn't see the blackness that crept into his field of vision, but something inside told him he was pushing too hard, too fast.

Gaston's head connected with her lower jaw, and Kumiho whipped her head back in pain as her teeth knocked together at the head-butt. She growled and jumped back, easily getting out of his range. "Temper, temper," she hissed at him. No way she was going to let him have the last 'word' so to speak.

"I guess you'll never find that 'easy on the eyes' mare now," she cackled. "I guess you also learned a hard lesson about that whole 'beautiful on the inside as on the outside' huh?"

Her tone was taunting, maniacal. She walked around him, keeping him confused as to her exact location. "Everyday, when you wake up and face a never ending, never changing blackness you will remember me, and I know I did this to you."

Feeling the impact of his head against what he could only assume was Kumiho's jaw had Gaston feeling as if he'd won a small battle. Of course now that he'd acted so prematurely there was no way that he could possibly repeat the maneuver. Pain continued to spike deep messages into his brain and it was all he could do to try and follow Kumiho's movements by listening closely to her voice. Keeping his head up to even clumsily attempt to track the vixen's movements was taking a toll. He let his head fall back to the ground as he had no choice but to listen to her taunting words.

At one point though it seemed as if he would attempt rising to his feet but all that came of that was a subtle shifting of his legs. The world of blackness that he now existed in was disorientating to say the least.

"You might believe what you say to be true. I will probably never physically lay gaze upon a beautiful mare, but it will not stop me from searching. You thought me silly and stupid but you must be the same. When I first saw you I noted your own little injury. Tell me this, will you ever be able to forget who destroyed your precious beautiful tails?"

If words were going to be his own weapons for a while Gaston had a lot of work to go. Now he settled to see if his yanking of the mare's chain would yield any results.

Kumiho growled as he mentioned her tails, hitting a nerve. She lurched forward and bit down hard on his ear, pulling at it with a sharp tug before jumping away again before he could get another a headbutt in. She flayed the skin, but didn't rip it or dislodge like she was hoping she would have. Oh well, she had done the worst of it.

"Good luck with that," she said, splitting his own blood back into his face. "I have a feeling the buzzards may find you first. Or infection... mares just love a man whose oozing pus from their face."

She looked up at the sky, "Speaking of buzzards, they sure look hungry. And unless you'd like me to put you out of your misery, I should go hunting. I have so greatly enjoyed our time together, silly stallion."

The words that he'd hurled towards Kumiho had seemingly hit their mark to go by the reaction that he got. The sharp blaze of pain along his ear for a moment outshone the residual throbbing behind his eyes. Gaston could only imagine what he looked like at the moment. Eyes all but destroyed for sure and now it felt as if Kumiho had tried to pull his ear off. Judging by the pain and its intensity level she had failed but the mark was still there. He felt the drops of spittle hit him in the face as Kumiho spoke her final words it seemed.

Gaston could not see the birds that Kumiho had made mention off but surely if he were to remain downed that eventually they'd come to investigate. He would need to move himself somehow it seemed. Where to and how lead the parade of thoughts before being pushed out of the way. The retort left him before he even considered holding in his words.

"You will get yours one day stupid mare. Karma's a b***h. It will revisit every horror you've done threefold. I'll be there on that day ... laughing. Think on that."

Kumiho cackled at him, not believing him for a second. She had had her fun with him, but she did need to get her own food soon or else her project would be short-lived. She blew a kiss his way with a wicked sarcastic grin; knowing he couldn't see her.

She shifted into her fox form and skittered away. She would have to check up on him again. And she hoped that maybe, just maybe, he would get his wish: that some foolish mare would fall for him. It would make it all the more fun to kill her - slowly - and make Gaston listen to her death rattle as Kumiho looked on a laughed.

Yes, that was a pleasant though to hunt by.

Gaston remained still trusting his ears to let him know when it was safe to attempt standing. The general consensus was that he really needed to find someone that would concede to healing him. The sounds of nature crashed down on the stallion and he sighed. If the buzzards were circling as Kumiho had indicated then he would have to move.

Testing his legs, Gaston gave a grunt and attempted to stand. Agony swamped him and his motions ceased for a moment. Gritting his teeth Gaston tried again. Gingerly he stood with some form of success. The darkness that would be now is constant companion would take some getting used to. Gaston recalled the time when he'd been blindfolded before and began to gingerly place his hooves down with extreme care. The pain that accompanied the darkness was debilitating. But if he wanted to live ... he had to leave this quarry.
