[THE REALM OF THE MINOAN GODS ► exit ]

Ilios smiled when the teacher stopped to wait for him. He could feel Rheia's words wrapping around him, just like she would have been right behind him. It might have been his imagination, but the words started to feel like cold fingers reaching for his neck. But the sun god didn't turn back to look, not even when it creeped him out.
So, he reached the highest point of the stairs.
"You should just go without me, silly!" Ilios said and pushed Matt through the gates.

Then he walked out of the gates, too. There was nothing but a bright, white light.

As he looked at the light, the sun deity knew that he would be back at the forest in no time.

And soon he felt the cool ground of the forest. It seems like it's still a morning. He had no idea much time he had he spend at the other realm, but it felt good to be back.
He stood up and felt the warming sunlight on his skin.
It was great to be alive.

As they entered back into the world of mortal men, Ilios's and Matthew's god like wardrobe faded away. Matthew wore the clothes he wore before this little misadventure. "Were are we?" But the real question in those words was, what now?

When they had stepped out of the god's realm, they had arrived near the spot where they both had died. But Ilios had left behind not just the former outfit, but also his bow.

Oh, and his memories, too.

"Huh?"

...Here we go again.

The sun god actually knew what is going on. But once again, he needs a little reminder so he can remember what he truly knows.
His rebirth represented a new beginning, a new morning.
And that is why he tends to also forget things in that point. Nowadays when the curse is gone, this isn't a big problem any more, either. It was just a casual part of his everyday life. In fact, a long time ago - before the time when everything went wrong - the other deities used to play pranks on him in this state.

Matthew saw Ilios in this state and face-palmed, with a small smile. He could sense it now too, and understood. He stepped in front of him and smiled. "Seems you lost your mind again, what are we to do with you?" He chuckled.

Ilios tilted his head. Again? Just what was going on?
The whole situation seemed to be funny in the teacher's opinion. Indeed, the sun deity knew who Matthew was. He also knew what this forest was. He knew that both of them seemed very familiar.
Actually, Matthew wasn't just "familiar". The man had a feeling that he knew this person very well. He wasn't even sure how he should address the teacher. Mr. Palamara? Matthew? Matt?

"...Matt."

"I have no idea what..." he answered, and then sighed with a confused expression on his face.

Then Ilios smiled back at Matthew. His smile was a bit clueless, but still warm.

Matthew let loose a hybrid of a sigh and a laugh. So he had to put up with this for all of time?''Geez what have i gotten myself into.' He laughed in his head.

His smile faded when he noticed the remains of his former life. He looked down at himself, the old him was gone, he knew that. But part of him would remain in that charred corpse, no matter how little of it remained.

Matt sank to his knee, that was when he felt it. In one wave he could feel all the fighting, all the sparring, every battle for life or fun. No matter where in the world, he could feel combat, even appear above it if he liked. He was the god of war after all. Another wave hit him, this time he could feel a different feeling. Images of mortal men and woman doing amazing feats, and overcoming odds flashed before his eyes. When next he opened them, he could sense them too. Everyone who is a hero, or will be, was known to him.

Moments passed and Matt stood up, only to fall down again suddenly on his knees. Like before, more images appeared to him. It was stronger and clearer of the others, it was fire and heat. And like before when the vision halted, he was attuned to fire as well.

"That was interesting..." He mumbled. It would take a bit for him to get used to his new ability's.

The golden-eyed man yawned and looked at the sun. It didn't hurt his eyes, and it definitely could never blind him.
"Indeed. And don't worry, you will get used to it eventually."

"Gods don't often even know their own limits. Certain deities are almost like human beings in many ways. It is possible for them to feel, learn, break their own limits and live just like humans would," he explained calmly.

"After all, you might have to break your own limits to protect things that are important to you," he continued, even though he had no idea where did all the information come from. It felt very weird, and yet very natural...

He looked at the dagger, which was still laying on the ground, next to Matthew's remains. The blade reflected the light of the sun to the sun deity's eyes. That brought back the memories.
"...I'M a god too?" he said out loud.
After the flashback he understood everything.
He also understood this one little thing that both of the men had forgotten.
"Uh... Did we forget to close the gates just a while ago?" the sun deity said with a troubled look on his face.

Matthew nodded, he did not question how he knew all that, for it's just how Ilios was. "Yeah i know." He chuckled.

"Yup, and just a few minutes ago you helped me to become one too." He spoke.

Matthew's eye's grew wide. "No.." He almost cursed.

"Ah... I remember now," he said, while looking somewhat embarrassed.
A deity doesn't simply pick up random people from the street and promote them like this. Not at all. The person has to be heroic and worthy for the title - or then just loved by the god. Sometimes they might even fit into both of those categories, like Matthew.

"I... I-in any case... The gates. This is not good," Ilios said.

He knew that the little pets that they had met at the underworld only moved in the cover of the darkness of the night, since that was close to their natural environment.
"We might get some company, sooner or later. But for now, we should be okay until sunset."
And it should be obvious that the beasts weren't the only things that were able to walk through the gates.

Matthew sighed and took a deep breath. He focused his mind, trying to make sense of his new ability's. What's this? He could feel heat, not present heat, but heat and fire that will be. This place would be home to fire. He saw a flash of a battle, and realized too late as Lucien Palamara stepped out from a couple trees.

Ilios, who saw the same things as Matt just did, looked at the trees that the vampire passed. The sun deity looked rather worried again.
He still remembered the last encounters with that man. Ilios was often quite of a pacifist, really, but he still was ready to protect and help when he was needed.

"Good morning, Lucien. What brings you here?" the sun deity said.
One of the trees raised it's root, which hopefully would make Lucien trip and fall down. It was a futile attempt, but it was only because Ilios really had no will to seriously hurt anyone in the human world.

But knowing that this vampire usually had a rather fiery nature and dark intentions, the sun god guessed that his arrival wasn't a very good sign.
It might mean that Ilios would have to fight after all, just like Matthew's vision had predicted.

"Yes father, what brings you here? More importantly, how are you still alive?" Matthew asked, his tone was normal if not a bit surprised.

Lucien looked a bit on edge. He had not expected to see Matthew alive. A little known fact about original vampires, was that when they finally die, all those they created go down with them. "I came to curse at your corpse, but this is ten times better!" He said.

"I knew there would be a day when you would opt out, you think you are the only one around with witchy friends my son? No." Lucien said, he appeared to be slipping.

"I see, so your here to do what? You're still alive." Matthew said calmly.

Lucien glared at matt, there was pain in his eyes. "I turned my new wife, and the children we had...they are gone, all because you had to die! I never did see what Nero Morte saw in you, but i don't care anymore. This time i hope you stay dead!" Lucien roared.

Lucien unsheathed his sword, he had coated it with the same spell on Matt's dagger, he still thought Matthew was a vampire.

He lunged recklessly at Matt.

...AND SO THE FOX BROUGHT THE SUN INTO A WHOLE NEW REALITY.

Ilios listened to their conversation in silence.
There was many types of conflict in this world. Arguments and wars have existed since the beginning of the human kind. This argument between a father and a son had gotten quite bad. But then again, when you add drama, vampires, murders and magic into any domestic dispute, the result can't be too good.
Humans... Their world view was so simple, unlike in the sun god's case. He, who was able to see more then one side of the story, was often confused by all the thing that he knew.
There was often this one question that he often faced.

Who is the real sufferer, and who is the one who causes all the suffering?

                                                                "Watch out!" he yelled.

Maybe it simply depends on the side that you have chosen. And the side that the sun deity had chosen, was Matthew's. That is what he had promised, after all.

And so, the sun started to shine extremely brightly. That was because Ilios wished it to happen, in the order to help the teacher.
After all, it should not harm Matthew any more, but it should certainly cause trouble for Lucien.

[OOC: Sooorry. I'm testing this layout. XD I'm going to add more decorations later, but now I just have to make sure that the base works at the guild forums.]

Matthew knew there was no reasoning with him, he knew his father well enough. In the time he had been dead and in the underworld, he had all but forgiven his father. But he would not cease.

"Fear not, he is like a raging bull in this state-" He was going to say more but Lucien was getting closer.

The sun brightened, Lucien kept charging. His eyes spotted a sparking ring on his finger. 'A daylight charm!' He thought, those charms were rare and only witches could ever make them.

Matt felt the warmth of the sun and smiled, his eyes had a fiery tint to them as he moved aside. Dodging the sword attacks. Matthew's palms suddenly burst, blood erupted from them, no sooner did he do so Lucien ceased and twitched violently.

"That is quite enough." Matt stated.

Lucien was fighting it, but failing. In the midst of fighting it he spoke with a great deal of effort. "How ar-are you h-here?"He asked. He just now noticed Matthew's charred remains.
