The Count of Monte Cristo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Count arrived in the city and quickly found a Tavern to rest in. He didn't exactly know how he had arrived here but he did. For a city that was supposedly undiscriminating he noticed a lot of little things. He didn't rest for long before he left to roam the streets. In an attempt to avoid sending the wrong message he hid his sword under his robe. The robe was black on the outside and purple on the inside. The dark colors hid the sword well.
As he roamed he saw only one act of violence which was quickly ended. He was slightly amazed at how peaceful the city was. Yet it also startled him. He had always lived by the idea that there is a calm before and after the storm. But was this after, or was this before the storm. He continued to walk around the city just looking at the land. He wanted to get the know the places. It had always helped him in the past.
The time came when the Count discovered he had walked around most of the city. At that point he stopped traveling and found a place to sit. He took his time and began to plan. He had lots of plans but used few. He made his way back to The Grand Port. He needed to join a crew.
//King\
//Lucheston\
//Sorrian\
"Ah....finally, the day for me to return is at hand." The King of Garnoff sighed, quite relaxed as he dawned his royal armor for that morning. The grand armor was silver, much like those of his men, but instead had golden and emerald craft about it, embellishing it's exterior thanks to a courteous and grateful smith by the name of Xotchum. The young man was a skilled smith from Okentro, but the fine city had served Garnoff so well that Lucheston had given extra funding for new material to the city.
"I suppose I should see Zertan off before I leave. The man was so kind to me during our discussions after all." Smiling into the mirror as Lucheston imagined his reunion with his wife and children. Soon all would be well for the king once more. He would not have to adjust to the strange manners of the various mixed cultures of the city, nor would he have to guess at which dish would most likely give him difficulty later that evening. As he gazed into the glinting craft however, he noticed a peculiar reflection. It was one of three men, each wearing armor like his own, though not so decorative, and each staring at him as if waiting for something. As Lucheston turned about, he was soon called to by the men waiting for his attention.
"King Lucheston Sorrian of Garnoff, as head of the Tenzonokit Guard, I hearby place you into custody under orders from Zertan head of council. You are to be held and escorted to your home city as service to the treaty held by our fine city and your own as requested by King Skyron of Garnoff. You will be brought back to be placed into a dungeon of King Skyron Sorrian's choosing. Please do not resist." The soldier informed him.
"King.....Skyron....My lord, what has happened?" Lucheston asked, despair beginning to settle into the elder man.
"Hello King Lucheston." Another man addressed him, as the head of the guard stepped back. "My name is Costro Senclair....I'll be accompanying you to Garnoff on both personal and business matters, as representative of Tenzonokit." The overly clean man grinned with a broad smile.
The Count awoke in a wooden box. It was the tight space that worried him. He reached for his sword but it was gone. Then he pushed on the top of the box only to find it fall right off. He crawled out and stood up looking around. He had been tricked when he slept. his crew had taken his ship. But they left him his cloths wealth and sword. Fools. The Count walked towards the door where his coat and sword hung. He put both on and stepped outside of the room he had awoke in. the tavern was rather lively with gossip and rumors. As the Count walked towards the door he heard of a king who had been arrested within the city. This sparked his interest. He listened in for a short time more then left the tavern and looked around. Surely enough there was a man dressed rather royally. With guards around him. Looking as if he was being arrested. The Count stood where he was looking at the scene with his hand on the hilt of his sword. At one point it became clear that he was counting the guards and planning something. But only the man facing the king would be able to see the Count. Some may take him having his hand on his sword as a threat others would kill the Count for watching. A select few, the smart would not do a thing unless provoked. Time to see what type of man this was. Then The Count made his move. He approached the guards never looking directly at the king "Hello you idgits." The count said putting on a rather southern accent. He looked around "Might I inquire to why you are arresting this fine gentleman who has yet to break a law in our fine city?" The Count stared directly at Costro. He hand his right hand on the handle of his blade. then he looked at the other guards but his gave ended up back on Costro. The Count's grip tightened and he counted the guards one last time. He was planning a way not to kill them but to get his message across. He was a skilled fighter capable of defeating all of them. But that was not his goal. His goal was to show them he was in the game now. No longer willing to sit back as innocent people were taken advantage of for their peaceful nature. A nature he had lost years ago trapped in the prison and tortured. No prison they put him in would be any worst. He was a man with little fear.
As Costro heard another man questioning the soldiers apprehension of the fallen king, he couldn't help but let a scowl fall upon his features, for he greatly disliked when others would not simply progress without conflicting him.
"We do not hold him as a prisoner of Tenzonokit...he has commited crimes against our fellow kingdom Garnoff, to which we hold a treaty of peace. King Skyron has proclaimed him an outlaw of their people, and thus to uphold this treaty...." Sinclair's eyes snapped between Lucheston and the count for a slight moment, " We shall escort this traitor to the glowing city at once."
Costro appeared to have a superior, yet somewhat apathetic tone to his voice, for he always felt that he was more capable than others in many manners, but at the same time his goal lay not with the fallen Silver King, but with a mask...and an inventor.
The Count smiled slightly. He opted to drop the fake accent. "I don't think I like your scowl." The Count stated removing his hand from his sword. He would not need it. What came next was easy. He made sure his cloak covered his blade then he smiled. He punched the guard closest to him then went back to acting as if nothing had happened. "I don't think you will manage to get the King to the glowing city. Tell me, what crimes has he commited? Let the King go and I won't have to hurt your friends." It was a hollow threat but The Count figured it would be enough to get him arrested. The Count turned away from Costro looking towards the sky. "I will give you a free shot if you chose to react violently." The Count lied. It depended on the attack. Then he turned towards Costro. "On second thought." The Count drew his sword. "How about a little fun?" Any spectators had to give it to the Count. He was a good actor. Normally he would be thinking much more logically. but for now he had a goal.
"Do not sacrifice yourself for my comfort!" Lucheston shouted towards the brave man, hoping to keep the younger warrior from sharing his fate. As the Count bravely turned his blade towards him, a guard clutching his stomach in pain, Costro couldn't help but snicker at the offer to hold a good brawl between the two men. Nearly tempted into drawing his kris from it's sheath, stepping forward onto a rather creaky wooden plank, Sinclair then managed to withhold his urges for the clash of iron upon iron, instead raising his sword hand to point towards this Count and make proclamation with his political power.
"Seize him will you." He ordered the surrounding guards. Each man, dressed in one of nineteen armor forms, which represent all the welcomed species of Tenzonokit, approached the blade wielding man. One in particular held within his hands a chain net, one used to capture those who desired to flee upon the proclamation of their misconduct. This net was soon thrown in the count's direction, the smile ever broadening across his features.
The Count turned towards the net and swung his sword in an arch. It hit the chain net and the metal let off a cling. The Count smiled and a black spark shot from the blade pushing the net off it. The Count waved his sword in a taunting manor. "Oh do try..." He said as he heard the net hit the ground a few feet away from him. The Count raised his sword again pointed it at one of the guards an urge took over him but he held it in. If he revealed his swords gift he would likely have it taken. It would most likely be taken anyways but it would be much harder to get back. His plan was to get arrested not win a fight. "Outnumbered, not outmatched." The Count looked at the guards around him. He sheathed his sword and put both hands forward. "Leave me my sword and I swear on my wife's grave I will not to use it to break free." The Count said lowering his head. He looked at the guards. It may have been better to simply buy them and have them betray their city. Everyone had a price and The Count could always pay it. But that would send the King the wrong message. Plus a smart man after seeing guards be bought off would change the guards. That was never good.
As the Count appeared to give in to the will of the city, the knights with varying armor gave a shrug, believing a sword was of little use to a man tightly bound. As the knights began to ensure that he could not change his mind, clasping his limbs with restraints and then turning to clasp the restraints to that of the king's, Lucheston turned to the Count with a frown upon his features.
"You've caused discontent only to be captured without purpose which you stand behind properly?" He whispered in a low voice, small portions of his thin beard moving along with his subtle tone. "Why? Why waste your time with such actions?" The former Silver King requested this information of him, as Costro and his troop moved towards the caravan beyond the royal housing.
"I have a purpose, what it is was what you should have asked. Sadly this is a one question world." The count said nothing more. He looked at the King then Costro. "Oh and so you know who escaped, I am The Count of Monte Cristo." The Count said simply. Then he looked at the sky humming. If he did intend to escape the King and himself would need to work together. Always the issue when you were tied with another person. Of corse he couldn't stay like that forever. It was only a matter of time before they separated his bonds from the King at which time he would escape. Unless they were thrown in the same cell. That would be a problem. He could plan around it but it would take a few extra minutes.
User Image After escaping the endless forest from the foreign plans, a cloaked woman escaped to a boat, shipping off to a direction unknown to her. Hopefully this would take her to the capital, where last rumor she heard, her father was there. While the voyage was long, and treacherous with the storms that came to pass, The obscure figure was finally free....But for how long?
After another additional three days that passed, the woman left the boat, as well as the cape she wore, revealing a rather beautiful young woman who wore of a green dress, and matching attire. Back her village this was the uniform of any well trained archer. This woman, however, was known as Charlotte....an escaped slave.
When she came upon the main streets, many were walking, making it hard to get by anywhere. Though, soon enough, Charlotte came across a bulletin board with a wanted poster for her head. it was a head shot without her hat....her favorite hat. It showed the writing of how much they are willing to pay for her capture. Charlotte found it hard to swallow as she left the poster alone and hurried on off, pulling her hat further down.
The thought did cross her mind...If they haden't tortured her the way that they did....clipping her wings like some kind of domestic pet!...Maybe she would still be able to fly...It was to this thought that caused Charlotte to pause, raising her left hand to rest upon her right shoulder. Something of a reminder of how much she hated them for what they did...Shaking her head, the young Spire perked her little pointed ears, hearing people talk of some kind of commotion going down further ahead.
Even though it was risky getting caught or found out, She was all to much of the curious type. Quickly, she dashed her way with the elegance handed down to her, slowly coming around a corner and peeking ahead to see two men on their knees bound and one...handsome man asking them questions. Just what was going on anyway?
"Be quiet you two." One of the many guards mumbled, pushing both the King and the Count along with his hands. As he did so, many of the varying armored soldiers placed their hands upon their weapon, for it was not uncommon for prisoners to turn upon them in rage after such a move.
As the group made their way down to the sunny streets of Tenzonokit, the sky as clear as a king's ambition, the sounds of the chains clattering together could be heard several blocks through the stone paved streets of the city. As they approached a wooden wagon, lead by two horses guided by yet another knight of the city, the man who'd pressed the two on attached their chains to a ring upon the bottom of the cart.
"Get up inside" He commanded, pressing on their backs again to push them forward. "And don't try to pull on your chains when you do. The more you try to break them, the more the points in the bottom of this thing will dig into ya." He chuckled pointing to the special ring that their chains had been connected to. It was clearly a contraption that pressed small spikes through the floor boards the more they pulled upon it, thus creating a reason to not attempt at escaping.
As the two men were forced into place, yet another precaution was made. Costro directed several of the knights as they brought about a cage. This iron craft was placed slowly over the two passengers so that the small hole would allow the chain to not become caught. As soon as it was properly aligned, a pair of wood working citizens hammered nails into the bottom of it's iron base so as to ensure it's fixed placement.
"Not going anywhere but where we want ya." The knight laughed.
The Count said nothing until they were securely locked into their little prison. "Don't hold me to this but I feel as if we will be followed. There was a girl watching us as we were locked in. She seemed on edge but I think she may be to curious for her own good." The Count said as he pulled on his chains just to have the spikes come up slightly. He placed his chains on the floorboard which now had spikes coming from it slightly. He didn't pull again. That would have caused pain to him and the king. The first point wasn't to bad. Then he placed his foot over the chain and stomped. He repeated this twice until he heard a crack. Then he sat back calmly. "Spikes, not the best things when trying to contain someone." The Count said. His hands were still bound but either a link in his chain had cracked or one of the spikes had. He knew which one but others likely wouldn't. "So, how has your day been so far?" The Count asked the King.
User Image Stepping out into the clearing with her left hand still planted to the brick wall as she leaned out, Charlotte could see the two strangers be placed up upon a cart...or some kind of weird wagon. But what really irritated her was that they had caged them in the same poison she was caged from before. Maybe they were Spires or some other type of fey. The poor guys....
Raising her right hand, and with a flick of her wrist, she used the Degen ability Drift Disk. Slowly but surely, wind began to swarm around the two men held captive, from underneath, formed the grey cloud to which, she had it lift up. This broke the cart from below with ease. With haste though, before the cart could fall down, trapping the two in that iron cage, Charlotte dashed from her spot, light as a feather, and caught the carriage before it hit the ground. She used her bow to poise it up as she peeked her head up from where the floor board should be.
"De cette façon!" She whispered harshly moving back out of the hole she created, only to pause then pop her head back up, realizing they may not understand her language. "Come, follow me. Hurry."
She added with her thick accent. With that, Charlotte came out from under the carriage where two men tried to assault her. Ducking from the first blow caused the guard to hit the other. Causing a bit of a disturbance, she back flipped to avoid further killer blows from the other guards.
When Charlotte landed back to her feet, she began to slap the blades out of her face with each strike attempt before she was able to get herself close enough to start punching the men out of her way. She was flexible, but not so great at close combat...She needed her bow an arrows to which were holding up that carriage for the two too escape. Looking back to the two prisoners, she gave them a look following to the expression; common! hurry it up! Though simply not spoken just...expressed. When most of the guards and knights were down, She stayed by the two men, to help them out while still keeping up her own guard.
The Count looked at the King "It's your call, we can leave her to her fate for attempting to free two prisoners or we can go out and help her. One way or another we need to end up back in the kingdom that was once yours. It seems odd that you were so soon arrested. We can go with her. Find a way to your Kingdom and then find out what happened. Keeping in mind Costro would likely know this and race us there in hopes of arriving before we do. Or we can stay, be punished for doing something we had no part in and likely have this girl arrested as well." The Count put both of his hands up revealing he was free from his bonds. "And of corse if it is your age keeping you from trying to escape I can fight a path for you to walk on."
King Lucheston Sorrian
"I am not so old," Lucheston laughed, agreeing fully with the Count. "And I could not bare to see you arrested for such minor things, let alone her as well." Making haste, the king rushed through the hole to exit the prison, allowing himself to swing from the momentum and still connected iron chain in order to close line an approaching knight.
"Lets move!" The Sorrian announced, Costro himself roaring for the guards to assemble. With the leverage of the planks and cage on his side, and a fair amount of force within his limbs, it wasn't long before the elder man broke free of his bonds, the iron links began first to bend, as the wooden planks groaned from the strain. With one last brief effort, through gritted teeth and sweat, the Silver King removed the chains from the ring...though the heavy cuffs remained clasped about his wrists.
