Ronin looked over his shoulder to see his brother catching him up. It seemed that his brothers experience and practise at racing and flying were definatly to his disadvantage, still he couldn't give up. In the end of the day it didn't matter who won or lost... Ronin simply hoped that he didn't lose by too much.
Deciding to taunt him he called out with a laugh, "Catch me if you can!"

"Oh I will!" He chrirped back, doubling his efforts to catch his brother up. Part of him wanted to make sure Ronin won, but at the same time he couldn't simply give up... he was far too competative. Yet, if Ronin beat him fair and square he knew that his ego could take that boost, especially after everything he had done to Ronin lately.
Kisho still wanted to make things up to his brother, his mind filled with lots of ideas about how he could do that.... but none seemed good enough. Perhaps this mate of Ronin's could do far more than he ever could? He really needed to meet her one day.
The gap between Kisho and his brother was slim now, he knew that if he reached forward with his wing the tip would touch his brothers rump. So close yet so far.... he looked ahead.... the end was in sight....
Desperate to win he gave it one last push, unsure if it would be enough to win or not.

Ronin's heart was racing, his breathing starting to chance to a pant from the excersion... but he was running out of steam. Yet a stubborn part of him refused to simply lose to Kisho... he had to try. The end was so close, victory was so close that he could almost taste the gentle sweet taste on his tongue....
Closer and closer he flew, his wings working as hard as he could make them.
Race winner: 1- Kisho wins 2- Ronin wins 3- Ronin wins 4- Kisho wins 5- Kisho wins 6- Ronin wins

Kisho was... stunned. In disbelieve he landed in front of their finish land unable to look at anything other than his brother. He had been beaten.... a first in such a long time that he was actually taken aback.
"You won...." he mumbled, blinking slightly before he was burst into laughter and tapped his brother on the shoulder in celebration. "Well done little brother. I guess there is a first for everything."
The grin on Kisho's face was one of love and admiration rather than hurt and downtrodden.... he supposed things really had changed.
What would happen next? They were both mated, Ronin no longer stayed at home alone.... and Kisho had been beaten. Wow! So much in such a short time.

Ronin stood and stared at his brother in disbelief, in many ways he suspected they looked like a mirror, the expressions pretty much the same on each of the twins faces.
"I won..." He said softly, before repeating it with more astonishment; "I won...? I actually beat you...."
As the tap on the shoulder came Ronin couldn't help the pleased grin that covered his features.... he had won! This really was his lucky month.

"You better believe it little brother." Kisho said with a smile, he couldn't take this away from his brother... usually he would have tried to deflect it, give an excuse as to why he had lost, but he couldn't.
"I really am sorry..." he burst out saying again, he knew he had apologised once but he couldn't help but continue to feel guilty for what he had done, even if he couldn't give Ichi up.

Ronin raised an eyebrow at his brother... he wasn't making up an excuse? Wasn't pretending to have let him win... which left two options, his brother really was growing up or his brother had actually lost to him. Deciding to think the best of Kisho for a change Ronin simply nodded and smiled, "Yep... and I will never let you forget it.... and for that matter... no rematches!" He chuckled, knowing that it would probably annoy his brother that Ronin wouldn't even give him a chance to earn back his title of victor.... of course that part was all talk, Ronin enjoyed racing and flying with his brother, it reminded him of a similar time.
Yet Ronin's elevated mood soon chanced when Kisho spoke once more, a frown replacing the smile. He walked over to his brother, putting his face right into his brothers. "Now stop it Kisho!" He narrowed his eyes before headbutting his brother, it hurt him, the pain sparked straight between his eyes.... "Geee... I always knew you had a hard head." He said as he began to feel rather dizzy from the 'attack'.

Kisho did his best to accept what his brother was offering him... a fresh start, a treaty of peace. He wondered if things would have turned out differently had Ronin not found his mysterious mare?
"No rematches.... " He shrugged, pretending it didn't bother him. "I suppose.... not as if I don't have a million other things that I kick your arse at on a daily basis." He smiled at his brother, aware that the time was getting late... they had been together for a while now and he feared that Ichi would start to wory.... or maybe not, she did know after all that he had gone to seek out Ronin, perhaps she would just assume things had gone well if he hadn't returned almost instantly?
He sighed, "Ronin...." He went to ask a serious question, but at the last moment he changed his mind, he didn't think it was right to bring down the mood yet again, after all he was the one who had done wrong, not his brother. So instead he said... "Why do you keep your hair like that? You look like a girl." The teasing glint had returned to Kisho's eyes.

Ronin could see the dilema going over his brothers features, and when he finally seemed to make a decision he was actually HAPPY to see that michievious glint back in his brother eye.
Ronin rolled his eyes as his brother spoke, "Hmmm..... the things you 'kick my arse at'" He said sticking his tongue out, "Are not worth me knowing." Ok, so his brother had always been better and more competative than Ronin, but Ronin liked the slow pace, enjoyed indulging in the small details rather than rushing and missing so much.
Sighing he looked up to see several strands of hair coming lose from their bonds. "I do not look like a girl..." He said at last, glaring at his brother. His hair style was the traditional for their status, it was Kisho that had broken out of tradition, going his own way just because he could and wanted to. Ronin had always liked to keep up tradition, especially since his brother didn't seem interested in doing so... someone had to! Right? It was probably why he hadn't left hom after their parents had died, feeling the great weight of duty upon his shoulders.

Kisho walked over to his brother, placing his wing over him for a moment as he chuckled, "You do... I used to too though." Again he found himself looking to the sky, it really was getting late and he was starting to worry about Ichi being alone.
"It was nice.... brother mine," he smiled and turned to face the brother he cared for with all his heart. "But I have to go...."
It pained him to leave, after all, there was so much unsaid, so much still tender between them but Kisho knew it would take time and he couldn't rush it. With a soft sigh he simply said; "Look after that mare of yours brother! I shall see you around." And with that he turned, spread his wings and headed home.

Ronin blinked at his brother and simply rolled his eyes again, trust his brother to keep calling him a girl... nothing had changed their whole life it seemed. Ronin continued to be the brunt of his jokes, though he had got used to it over the years, especially since Kisho had never let anyone else do so... he had been a fierce protector towards him.
"Oh..." It was only as Kisho mentioned leaving that he realised how late it was.... he needed to get going as well. And so he bowed low to his brother. "I shall see you again soon... brother mine." He smiled, feeling much better about his brother than he had only hours earlier. "Take care!" he called after him before turning to make his own way back.
It would take him long to walk, so Ronin started off at a lesiurely pace, enjoying the dull colours of dusk with each step and breath.
