The little She sighed, thinking carefully to herself. This whole matter was a strange thing to ponder. She always thought people loved puppies, but now apparently they caused their mother pain at the same time. What a horrible thing! Perhaps it was some sort of curse. She shuddered to think that she should ever have babies then. She certainly didn't want any pains in her back!

Her pale blue eyes flicked upwards, listening carefully to Kalia. She was having a hard time understanding the concept of an heir, but she decided she'd better keep that to herself. Too many questions could make adults cranky. She felt oddly bad that Kalia had never felt love before; she'd always imagined it to be a preferable emotion.

"Well, if Kalia doesn't need love, I don't need it neither." She said simply with a nod of her head. Her tiny paws stretched, and she rolled onto her side. She wasn't quite sure what love was, but she doubted she'd be missing it any time soon. "s'ma mom says love's not for puppies anyways..." She said slowly, thinking to herself.

"There are different types of love, Nausicaa," the gray she-wolf spoke gently, using the pup's name in affection. "One of them isn't for puppies, the other one, it seems, was made just for them." A sudden smile came over her face as she said this. Hopefully she was bringing out more curiousity in the pup.

Kalia loved puppies, and didn't much mind them asking questions. That's how a lot learned their first few months of their lives. Afterwards they experienced things to learn them:

"Some lessons must be lived to be understood."

"The love that isn't made for puppies is the one between a mama and daddy, when they grow older and are mature." In two ways, too. "You are too young to know that kind of love yet."

Nausicaa smiled appealingly, carefully bobbing her blue crowned head against the small ribs in her chest as she lay on her back. Past the smile, she slowly attempted to comprehend what exactly love was anyways. The way Kalia said it implied that it all made sense...but she was having a hard time comprehending what it really was. Perhaps Kalia was right- maybe it was only for grown ups. Kalia seemed to know a lot, so she decided she'd trust her on this matter.

"I don't suppose so..." she sighed, and swished the end of her tail. "There are lots of things not for puppies. Nutaqqat." She repeated the foreign word in the tone her old aunt used to use when addressing the young people, scratchy and crotchety. Although from Nausicaa's voice, it fell more as a crackle then an old strain.

Kalia gave a sly grin as she playfully yet gently pawed at the pup's belly. It was amusing and relaxing at the same time to be in the presence of a pup. There were no adults that she had to act proper and grown-up around, and there were no 'rules of the wolf' she had to abide by at this time.

Sighing contentedly, the large female gave another lick to Nausicaa's head.

"Don't worry, you'll be grown soon enough... just wait and be patient. You'll be old enough to understand almost anything once you get older." And that's normally how it went. It would probably be the same way for the blue femme, no doubt.

"That's the way it was for me," she tried to reassure the other, feeling that she wasn't all that convincing the first time. "I was small like you once, and I didn't much get anything. But when I got older and matured a little, I was able to grasp more concepts and understand things better." A nod confirmed this.

Nausicaa giggled as Kalia gently prodded her pale pink belly. Her legs kicked about for a moment, before finally settling with a deep sigh, and the closing of her pale eyes. For a moment her face appeared serious, and carefully, she followed her silence by- "I'm not sure if want to change. I can't understand waking up and being old and being someone different." Her eyes fluttered back open, and she shifted her tail as she thought. "I'd much rather just be me..."

She wondered if trading herself in would be a fair trade for knowledge. She wasn't quite sure yet. It made her nervous and edgy. Perhaps she was only afraid because she was young, and when she was older she'd understand... She wanted to grow up. That was for sure. She wanted to be big like Kalia, and have a million babies so she'd not be alone. If it worked like that. She already named them in her head. Little Nausicaa, Tiny Nausicaa, Big Nausicaa...

"What were you like when you were little?" She asked, her brow scrunching together.

Kal blinked slightly as the pup talked about randomly waking up one day and being totally different, totally changed. Hm... well...

"It doesn't quite work like that. See, when you change, it's normally not overnight." A lick to her head served for a pause. "Things happen to change someone, to make them act differently and behave unusually. Me... well... I was a special case. There was an event in my life that caused me to think better about things and look before I leap." So cliche.

Then, when she was asked of how she was as a pup, she couldn't help but laugh and chuckle slightly.

"Oh boy, me as a pup." A slight sigh escaped her lips. It seemed like such a long while ago that this gray female was a puppy, cute, fuzzy, and relatively helpless... very much unlike her today.

"Well, I was a very rambunctious little brat," she started off, a grin spread across her face. "My parents were fairly high-ranking in the pack, so I believed myself a princess. Of course, when my father tried to overthrow the alpha and died instead, I realized true power and respected others like I should have in the first place. Things like that can do that to ya...."

For a moment Kalia was lost in her thoughts and memories... recalling the day her regal father died.

Nausicaa's wide eyes blinked slowly as she watched Kalia speak. Although she wasn't sure by what Kalia meant about people changing over time, she hoped if she ever woke up she'd wake up a wolf like Kalia. At least that would be something to look forward to. Her stub of a tail wiggled and she stretched on her back.

But once Kalia started talking about her parents, the blue pup fell silent. She watched her softly and looked out of the corner of her eyes. "That's bad... My parents, they were pretty low..." She spoke, but she wasn't sure if that was any consolation to Kalia...she couldn't imagine what it would be like to loose her parents. Well. She *had* lost her parents, but she knew they were still alive...

"My parents...they always told me to respect those who were bigger then me, because the strong people run the world. They said it was always good to be with the strong, then with the weak...or you'll get lost in the woods." She said sadly, and rolled over. Well, that was depressing. She felt worse for Kalia, even though Kalia had smiled as she spoke. Children were of a very sympathetic nature- and Nausicaa no different.

The gray she-wolf shook her head after she had finished talking, more to ruffle up her fur a little bit rather than to say no or anything of the sort. Then, when the pup began talking about her parents, she narrowed her eyes and perked her ears forward, curious as to what had happened to this one.

Hm, well, Nausicaa hadn't exactly said what had happened to them, but she kept using past tense when speaking of them. Perhaps they died in some way, and so that was why she was out all alone here in the woods? Or maybe it was just because she got separated from them and was looking for them. Yes, that seemed more logical, as the younger one didn't really sound too sad or forlorn to have lost her parents or something.

Nonetheless, Kal couldn't help but feel a bit sympathetic for the other.

Sighing again, she then licked the top of the pup's head. "Well, they were right, in a way. If the wolves are low-ranking and don't have much power, there isn't much they can do for themselves. But if they are strong, well.... hm. It's different for all wolves, I guess."
