...Silly...
22nd of July - Sable + APOU

Sable was locked in the house.

Yesterday Mia had found out that sable had been leaving the house all this time, and so she made extra sure the kid could not exit. It was ridiculous. The door was locked the windows were locked and all from the outside. Sable hated Mia right at this moment.

She sulked throughout breakfast. She wouldn’t even look at her food let alone touch it. Mia apparently didn’t care at all, instead of keeping it out for sable she put it away and locked up the food then left, locking the door.

So Sable was trapped, and a trapped sable was not anything anyone would wish on their enemy.

She looked under the bed, under the ladder, and was about to break one of the windows when she heard a small chirp. An odd creature was sitting out on one of the window sills and was chirping at her.

It was small, yellow, and it had horns. Sable didn’t know of any birds that had horns before. She thought it was nifty. “I wish I could play with you but I’m trapped.” Sable told the bird through the window. It tilted it’s head and flew off.

“Great…” Sable grumbled and went to the couch and plopped down, with half a mind to break the furniture to get back at Mia for holding her hostage. Who did that woman think she was anyway?

“APOU”

Sable looked up at the sudden sound. “Who is there?”

“APOU?” the sound asked again. Sable looked around waiting and listening for the sound again.

“APOU!” it called from behind her, causing Sable to turn around. There was the bird, the weird yellow bird with horns. She giggled, but suddenly stopped.

“Wait.” She spoke softly, putting her hands up in defense as she walked towards the creature. “How did you get in?” She asked, as if the bird could speak human and give her exact directions.

“APOU?” The bird tilted its head momentarily before flapping its wings and taking off up into the rafters to where a small hold was. It slipped out.

Sable couldn’t contain her joy. She had been silly. This entire time she had been thinking like a normal person, but Sable was far from normal. She could shrink afterall!

Once she was the size of the yellow bird, Sable let her own blue wings take her into the rafters, and through the hole.

Oh sweet freedom, all thanks to…

“What should I call you?” she asked the small bird who had been waiting for her.

“APOU?” It chirped, flying around her.

“APOU?” she mimicked back as she considered it, “Sounds like a name to me, ok then APOU it is.”

A Glittering Collection
(Child --> Teen*)

This young dust seems to have a touch of kleptomania; hoarding bits and bobs that take her interest, however strange or meaningless they may seem to the average person. But what does interest a young pixie dust child? What oddities make up her little collection of personal treasures? However something peculiar has been happening recently regarding her trove of tidbits. Sable's beloved hoard has been missing some stuff. At first they could simply be misplaced but over time more things have been disappearing. What's happening? Is there a thief afoot and if so how does your dustling deal with the problem and retrieve her stolen objects?

*Please note, there's a minimum word requirement of 700 words for this quest.

...The Collection pt1...
5th of June - Sable

“Sable!” Mia called out in disgust as the child came home, “What is that, that, thing in your hand?”

Sable blinked and looked down at the teddy bear in her hand, “A teddy bear.” She replied dryly, since the reality was fairly obvious.

“Throw it away, it isn’t good for you” Mia informed her as she placed a bowl of fruit on the table with the toast and soup for dinner.

Sable looked down at the item again. Sure it was half soggy with who knows what, stuffing was coming out of random places, it was missing an eye, and it stank. However that was no reason to throw away such a treasure.

Mia had stopped setting the table to walk over and take the item from Sable, “At least clean it up.” Mia grumbled, and tossed it into the hot soapy water that she was about to use to clean the dishes.

“We’ll let it soak for a bit.” Mia washed her hand thoroughly, “Wash your hands too and then we’ll eat.”

“Ok.” Sable sighed, grateful that she was able to keep the doll.

She let the soap run over her hands, the warm was nice. Once she was done they sat down to eat.
The meal was quiet; it usually was now a days. Mia tried her best to stay in control as sable had grown more apathetic to the women. Sable sipped her soup, her only reason for returning at all was this soup and the building.

A frustration has been building inside of her for a while. It was a strange unsettling feeling that left Sable wondering why she was born on this table in this house. This house. Memories of things that had bothered Sable just grew in her mind, uncalled for, reminding her of things.

“Mia?” Sable began softly.

“Yes Sable?” Mia perked up at the tone of the child, half wondering if she was about to be attacked, or if sable had something bothering her…

Regardless it was rare for Sable to say anything.

“I can’t seem to find a ribbon I had, it was green” She explained, “Have you seen it?”

Mia blinked and sat down her spoon “I don’t recall, I’m sorry.”

“It is alright.” Sable took another sip of soup, wondering how the teddy bear would deal with being washed.

...The Collection pt2...
5th of June - Sable

Thief. It was a very hypocritical term, however since Sable didn’t see herself as a thief, she felt it was the right term to be using at the moment. One broken bottle, one piece of red string, two glass gems, a knut, a cup, and a piece of cloth, and all the rest of sable’s entire collection, was missing.

That is, except the teddy bear she had just finished cleaning with Mia.

That morning it was the ribbon, a beautiful ribbon of a deep emerald green that had found its way into Sable’s pocket after she had passed it.

Frantic, Sable had torn apart her section of the cottage, tossing things here and them, really everywhere, looking for where the delicate treasure had slipped off to.

One teddy bear, dinner, and subsequent teddy bear washing later, and it was all gone.

Every single treasure was gone, and yet the room was as it would have otherwise been.

“Maybe it was a rat?” Sable pondered, and shrunk into her miniature form. She flew to the rafters and scoured for a hole somewhere. Nothing.

She looked under her bed, around her area. Nadda.

“Sable what are you doing?” Mia boomed from her position as a giant when Sable flew by.

“Looking,” she squeaked.

“If it is the ribbon we can get another,” Mia offered.

“Its fine.” Sable squeaked and continued to look for holes.

But it was useless. As she had thought all the holes that sable had come across over time were filled by sable for this very reason.

“Apou!” She spoke suddenly regaining her large form in the middle of the dining area, and then running to her abode, “Apou!” she called.

The creature replied with a hearty “APOU!” and sable couldn’t help but giggle.

“Have you seen my things?” she whispered to the bird.

“APOU!” it replied sadly, which meant no.

“Thanks,” she sighed.

“Sable?” Mia called over.
“What is it?” Sable snapped back.

“Are you looking for those things that you had tossed all over?” Mia, wiping her hands, ased as she walked over.

“YES!” Sable shouted gleefully jumping up, “Have you seen them?”

“Yes,” Mia beamed, “Come with me.” She walked over to a small chest with a lock. Come to think of it, Sable didn’t recognize the box. “I had some extra money,” she handed Sable the key.

Sable bent over and hurriedly unlocked the box. Inside were all the gems and items that Sable had collected.

“I remembered that you liked odd things, so this way they are safer from thieves.” Mia explained.

“Not that thieves would take junk.” Sable countered, wondering if she should laugh or cry.

“I don’t know… you seem to like them.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

...Interesting Morning pt1...
12th of July - Sable

The morning sun trickled through the window and danced over Sables eyelids, drawing the small pixie child from her slumber. Sable groaned and tossed and turned a few times before accepting her fate of being woken up by the sun. Rubbing her eyes, Sable sat up in her bed on the attic landing…

…to meet the wooden post perched right above her head..

“Ow…” Sable whined, and rubbed her now sore forehead. She paused her motions and looked at her hand. It looked… different? Her fingers were longer…and her hand looked… more elegant… her wrist was smaller…
Sable closed her eyes and shook her head… it couldn’t be…

“Sable?” Mia called up, “You ok up there?”

“I’m fine Mia.” Sable called down and instantly regretted the action. She covered her mouth.

“Sable?” Mia called, sounding concerned.

Sable knew why, she had heard it too… a slightly deeper voice. But not really deep, just more… smooth.

“You sound like you have a cold… do you have a fever?” Mia was concerned, for more than one reason. First, Sable sounded differed… second, Sable wasn’t jumping down for breakfast instantly while insulting Mia.

Sable instinctively checked, rip no her temperature was fine, but now her clothes were not.

“No fever.” She called back down, which was true enough.

Sable’s clothes had felt a bit tight, in the chest and her pants seemed like they had shrunk over night. She stood up, and felt instantly unstable… and higher. She went to the mirror and gasped at what she saw.

She was at least a foot or two taller, and her hair was longer… much longer. And her clothes looked five sizes too small. That is… if Sable knew about clothes and sizes… regardless the top was ripped in the sleeve and needed to come off.

So Sable took off her now ripped top to find an even bigger surprise..
Two bulges were coming out of her chest, and her hair had grown in length. She grabbed her chest to see if they were really there. The soft and squishy bulges were indeed real… and slightly sensitive… Sable blushed and released them.

“Sable? I’m coming up!” Mia called, as her voice grew louder. “Fever or not you don’t sound right…”

Without thinking sable turned and shouted back, “No don’t come up!”

“Nonsense! You don’t… Oh my god…” Mia was already up the short ladder and looking at the taller, more endowed, and flat out pretty Sable before her. Mia blushed at the sight, despite being a woman interested in men. Sable was just too pretty.

“I look like a…a…” Sable began, choking on her words as she held back tears.

“A teen?” Mia whispered, trying to be of help.

“Yes!” Sable shouted, sounding more normal, if older, “This isn’t normal!” she cried, frustrated.

“Well, I think we were of the agreement before,” Mia began as she finished climbing the ladder and walked over to Sable, “That you weren’t exactly normal to begin with…” She hugged sable gently as the girl cried out her frustrations.

“But why? What did I do?” Sable cried.

“Every living thing goes through changes over time… this is normal.” Mia wasn’t sure of course, but it seemed the right thing to say.

“No… it’s not that.” Sable wiped her tears, “Why did I have to be so… cute?” Her eyes looked up at Mia questioningly.

Mia, being the first person in all of Aimes… in the entire world… to meet Sables puppy eyes wet with sadness, was an unfortunate soul. Sable wasn’t even trying, and the look was perfect. Mia closed her eyes to ward off the onslaught of empathy as she replied, “Well, I’m sure you’ll come to find a use for it, if nothing else.”

“But all of a sudden!” Sable cried, “Why now!?”

“I don’t know!” Mia exclaimed back, “Maybe it’s because you’re a dust ling and not a human, maybe dusts grow suddenly overnight!” The idea was a radical one, but fit the situation.

“That’s it!” Sable beamed, and let go of Mia, “This is a Dust problem!” She told Mia and began to undress. “I’m borrowing money and a dress,” She explained as she hopped down the ladder nude.

“Where are you going?” Mia called out.

“I’m going to get some clothes and find Krinn.” Sable called back up as she slipped into one of Mia’s dresses, and grabbed a pouch.

“Krinn?”

“Yeah!” Sable called up, “Maybe he knows what is going on!” she cheerfully deduced before slipping on sandals.

“Wait! Don’t forget-“ Slam The front door closed, signaling Sables exit.

“A bra…” Mia sighed, “Well, at least she has the mood swings down…” Mia mused as she went back down the ladder to the first floor.

She wondered how Aimes would react to a bra-less teen girl running around...

...Interesting Morning Pt3 (The Bird and its Nest)...
19th of August - Sable

Sable sat on her now small bed and looked up at her too close ceiling. She could shrink, but it wasn’t worth the effort. Her window was locked, jammed, by Mia. The front and back doors were both being watched, by Mia.

Her tiny hole which she used frequently for escapes as a tiny pixie was sealed. Her collection was taken hostage, her freedom revoked. She was stuck lying there, on her much to small bed, looking up at her too close ceiling until dinner, which was the only time she was allowed down.

“Why?” Mia asked from the first floor, for the tenth time.

“Why not?” Sable replied back. It was the same argument. As amusing as the arguments with her personal watch dog were, they were becoming routine and boring.

“You know better!”

“Yeah, so?” Sable asked back, “What does that have to do with anything?”

“If you know not to do something you shouldn’t do it!” Mia exclaimed, as if her words were gospel to an angel. True, the logic was sound, but only if you were a boring ordinary person.

“You never know until you try it.” Sable explained to her guardian, “I could know that if I cross into the neighbor’s garden I will likely get yelled out, but there is no evidence that it will happen all the time.”

“You still should not do it!”

“Why not?” Sable asked back, “Why can’t I?”

“Because you know better!”

“What if I’m willing to take the consequences?” Sable retorted.

“You are not exactly taking them well now.” Mia pointed out. It was true. Sable hated being caged up like this.

“But it isn’t like this is our neighbor’s punishment, it’s not like they even saw me!” Sable argued back, “You saw me and so you are punishing me!”

“That’s right.”

“But who are you to decide if what I did was wrong?” Sable looked over her banister, “What if the neighbors were happy I came to visit? How would you know trying to assume for them?”

“I’m your guardian; it’s my job to prevent you from getting into trouble.” Mia explained, “Really, you aren’t a child anymore, you should start to be more responsible on your own!” Mia chided her, “You should act properly and not do things you know are bad!”

Sable pondered what Mia had said for a moment before replying, “You are right,”

“Of cour- wait. I’m right?” Mia looked up at sable. The girl was grinning wickedly. The joy and surprise of being called ‘right’ left Mia’s heart as fear crept in.

Whatever the pixie child was thinking… it wasn’t good.

“Yes, right.” Sable smiled down. “I’m not a child anymore, and I need to be more responsible for myself.” She explained. Mia looked dumfounded.

Sable turned tiny and flew into Mia’s face, “So I shall start right away.” She told her guardian, “if you would the key to my treasures?” the small girl grew big and held out her hand.

“You are still grounded.” Mia pointed out.

“No I’m not.” Sable cheerfully explained. “You have looked after me out of obligation when I should have been caring for myself. I’m not your offspring and we are not related. I have lived off your kindness for so long I must have gotten used to it. However, I’m no longer a child and as such I culturally no longer require an adult to survive.” Sable curtly informed Mia, “So I am moving out, my key please.”

Mia looked at Sable’s extended hand, and was silent for a moment. Then the short lady with curly brown hair reached into her pocket and pulled out the bronze key to Sable’s chest of treasures. She grabbed sable’s hand and held it while she put the key in it.

“You may not want to at first, or ever, but,” Mia looked into Sable’s pink eyes, “You may always come back.” She informed the girl, “I won’t even ask you why.”

Sable looked at Mia for a moment and smiled. She tugged the lady towards her and hugged her tight, “Thanks for everything up until now!” She cheerfully told the lady.

“So where are you going?” Mia asked, “So I can send your bed.”

Sable pondered, “I think I’ll ask Krinn… maybe we can find a few friends and work to pay rent somewhere.”

“I’ll keep your bed here until you know,” Mia told her.

“Thanks!” Sable grabbed her treasures and put them on her bed “I’ll fetch everything once we have a place!” Sable called out as she zipped from the house to find Krinn and the others.

Mia watched the pixie child leave. She wondered if sable would be able to find a place in one day.

But if it was Sable, she giggled, it may be possible.
