I think I'm really lucky to live in England because all the old classic comedies are shown on UKGold and BBC1 & 2. Plus the shows are sold on DVD in almost every shop here, so they're easy to find.
I've been into RD ever since I can remember; it's always been there and I guess it always will be, as long as I've got my series 1-7 videos! I remember that my mum was always a bit skittish with RD, my dad encouraged me to watch it but she was never so sure (we think it might be because she's Scottish... xd Lol!) but I watched it anyway. At first I didn't really get it, but by the time I was 6, 'smeg' became a word in my regular vocabulary and I could recite entire scenes off by heart by the time I was 8. Now at 15 I'm another completely obsessed fan, scouring the internet for news on the RD movie and taking sniffer dogs into music shops in a vain attempt to find the Tongue Tied single that was released SO long ago... sweatdrop
Don't worry though! My mother is still looking for a cure for me... wink Lol! xd

Yeah... we talk in gibberish; perhaps more than we really should. Just a few days ago I got stuck talking gibberish and I was trying to find an actual English word to say, but my brain just couldn't wrap around it. It was scary. xd Kinda like how adults tell you if you make a bad face it might freeze that way. My skills at articulation nearly got frozen. gonk

Anathema Device Awwww. Well she shall have to see RD! Yeah, Keldan and I talk gibberish too. Sometimes it's so silly it simply gets out of hand. A secret language. How cool. We just like to pretend we have one. Hehe. Your sister is welcome to join the guild even though she hasn't seen RD. Maybe it'd get her interested in it. biggrin hmmm I'll have to PM her about it.

Actually made me laugh a loud imagining it! I know how that is. My best friend is now sharing a room with my sis and I (imagine that, three teenage girls on one room!). Mel and I are always having those gibberish conversations and Tristin just stares at us in awe (well it's probably more of a confused/insane look). Now we do it just to get that look outa her. Man I'm gonna miss Mel when I go to college.

Let me see... I first got started on Red Dwarf when I was really really young. eek My dad's English, so he forced me to watch it when I was a wee little thing! 3nodding The rather straight-forward story and unusual characters were the first things that caught my eye. It's the little things like Rimmer's middle name and odd facts regarding Lister's parents are what keep me interested in the series. surprised

Erfaewen Since this guild needs some posting, I figured why not make a new topic to post about. I was curious as to how people came to find out about RedDwarf. So here is is, the question itself: How did you come to be addicted to this winderful show? humm i wonder maybe it was some one like you then again i remeber IT was YOU! lol. xd

It was something my dad watched, and so we were all forced to watch it. Good when it's RD not so good when it's Bill Oddey (sp?), history of canals or an episode of Star Trek: Next Generation you've seen a thousand times (but have to watch again 'cos of the women in lycra suits). Lol. So, anyway, I became a fan and looked up to Lister as my ultimate idol of "cool"! smile

My parents were the ones who introduced me to Red Dwarf. We used to watch it every Friday when they showed the new episodes, when I was still quite young. Of course that was years ago, but I'm still obsessed xd
