You're sitting under a shady tree watching your other siblings play in the sunlight. Being the most shy of the group you tend to keep to yourself but you hear a sound from someone behind you. When you turn to see it's a strange Ulaya you don't know walking towards you ... What do you do? Do you greet them or run away to your siblings? Are they nice and join you in the shade?


A young Ulaya laid under the shade of a tree her purple fur barely seen because of the shade from the tree. She watched her four siblings playing out in the sun, being the shiest of all them she mostly watched from far away as they all had fun playing games and having fun.

As she watched her siblings played with each other, a snapped behind her, turning her head toward she saw another Ulaya standing where the sound came. "Hello, did I scare you" the Ulaya asked her. Kasumi shook her head and and blushed lightly "Um..Um hello" she said quietly lightly. The Ulaya laughed and sat by her "Shy one aren't ya" he asked her " I'm Ezekiel"

Kasumi looked at him from the corner of her eye and nodded her head as his answer "..I'm Kasumi" she said a little louder then the last time and looked at him. "So why are you over here and not over there playing with them" he asked once again as he stared at her.

Kasumi looked over at her siblings when he asked her " i don't know..I guess I'm just to shy..I think" she mumbled and the looked at her paws as she drew circles on the dirt. 'Really" he said with a amusement as he stared at, "But I know a few shy Ulaya and I always see them playing even if there shy"

She looked over at Ezekiel "Really" she said louder then before all the other times. ''Really" he replied to her. '" I guess the next time my siblings as me to play I'll say yes to them" she asked as she looked over at him. "Yep you should" he said and laughed as they both watched he siblings play tag both enjoying the company.

The young Ulaya had been playing happily among the fallen leaves that were scattered around the area, content with diving into the misshapen piles and rolling in between them and the dirt. Koleyn was all alone, but that didn't bother the boy at all. His siblings had all returned home, but the young male claimed he was strong enouther to keep playing all the way into nightfall. He was absolutely sure he could do it!

So here he was, panting as he rested in a large bunch of the dead foliage, grinning to himself, knowing now for sure that he was the strongest of his many siblings. His parents would be very proud at how fast he had grown up!
Falling into more of a relaxed state, Koleyn looked up at the grey sky, squinting at the large white clouds that inched their way off. They were different than normal clouds, of that he was sure. The boy yawned, eyes widening when he could see his breath float up and up and toward those same clouds.
"Wow, it's really that cold out?" He questioned the air, ears twitching as though he was waiting for an answer. Having such a large and fuzzy pelt, he couldn't feel that the weather had moved from autumn to the beginnings of winter quite fast. Fast enough at least, for his siblings to notice and return home so early.
Koleyn didn't mind this tempurature much at all. It was better than it being too hot outside, to the point that he was panting and sweating. He hated weather like that. The sun was his enemy, unlike so many of the other children his age.

He was lost in his thoughts until something cold brushed his nose. Focusing back on his surroundings, he looked around.
"Wh-what was that?" There was another cold touch, but this time on his back. "Hey! What's going on?" He scrunched his small face together, waiting to ambush whatever or whoever was putting such chilling things on him.
As he waited, he felt another on his paw, quickly whipping his head down to look at his foot. Instead of finding a creature, he found a melting snowflake buried in his fur.
"Oh. A snowflake..." Koleyn didn't mind, really. That was better than anything else. "It's..." He looked up at the sky, the tiny flakes floating gently down around him to rest themselves softly upon the grass, building up and building up as the minutes went by. "snowing..."

He smiled. This was what he wanted. To see the snow first, and watch it fall around him, not watch it from inside his house with the rest of his family.
"See, Daddy?" He called to the sky, his breath coming out in large but almost transparent clouds. "I did it! Here I am! Be proud of me!" He laughed to the open air, rolling around in the leaves again.

It was a few hours later when Koleyn awoke, rubbing his eyes with a cold paw.
"Urgh...whuh..?" Upon opening his eyes, the young ulaya was assulted by pure white all around him. He tried to move, but his limbs were covered by the fluffy precipitation.
The boy quickly sat up.
"How long have I been asleep?!" Even the top of his head and his ears were coated in the snow, the boy looking around, surprised. "Woah...there's so much of it.." He grinned, shaking his head to rid his face of the caked-on frost. "How pretty!" Koleyn crawled out from his little sleeping hole to survey the area. The snow was almost solid beneath his feet as he slipped around the ground, trying to stand up.
His body was still covered in rebel flakes as he looked around, wondering which way was home.

It was like a very long game of hide and seek. Koleyn was more than absolutely sure he won, so he decided now was probably a good time to return to his family. The boy felt like a hero, though! He lasted for awhile out here, even while asleep! Certainly, his parents would be happy.
Well, if they weren't mad, first.
Which could be possible.
"Uh-oh." He whimpered to himself, a little worried now. What if...they really were upset? What if they were gonna yell at him? Most of the time, his parents weren't like that, but...maybe they would be! Koleyn never ever did anything bad. At least...that he remembered.

Deciding to now move faster home, he recoginized an icicle covered tree as one that he used to climb in the summer, recalling it to be only a few minutes from his destination.
"Okay, I'm going the right way. Good, good." He picked up the pace, sliding a little on the icy dirt and snow beneath him. The boy was almost running when he heard his name called among his heavy footsteps.

Mom? Ears perked up. His feet got faster.

"Mom, mom, it's me, I'm here!" Koleyn called, running into her grasp, smiling brightly. "I did it! I saw the snow first! It was beautiful, Mom!" He snuggled into her, happy for the first time in his life to be very warm.

Why did you choose that name?: Chinook is a warm dry wind that is sometimes know as a " snow eater" wind for it's ability to melt up to a foot a of snow in a day. It can occur anytime of the year but is most
common mid winter to late spring. to me The name has the potential to be ironic and even if not would reflect a very warm if aggressive and dominating personality.

Chinook lay on a large gray boulder , he watched as his family splashed about in a nearby lake. While his parents were teaching his siblings to swim Chinook had opted out of the lesson, promising to learn the important skill next time. Honestly, how could his parents expect anyone to learn anything while the whole lot them were shouting and splashing.

Chinook had no desire to half drown becuase his parents had four other children to watch. Besides the weather was nice today and basking in the sun's light on his rock was good enough for Chinook. he could listen to his parents call out instructions and watching other creatures like fish and frogs swim as they were scared away from the area his family was in.

Still as time passed Chinook couldn't help but feel jealous as his siblings nervous squeals became overjoyed peals of laughter and his parents lavished praises upon their successes. As he dropped his head to his paws the young Ulaya gave a huff of annoyance. He wouldn't change his mind, it would make him look silly which was unacceptable and he'd be behind all his siblings.

All Chinook had to do was wait out this day and things would fine. He'd learn to swim next trip .. or better yet he'd teach himself. He'd hear all his parents pointers, surely it couldn't be too hard.

Thinking this was a great idea he rose slowly from his rock and padded swiftly too an area of the lake where tall reeds grew along the bank. The tops of them swayed in the light breeze but their thick stems held the rest of the plants in place


Nervously the Ulaya twitched his ears to make sure his absence hadn;t been noted. Getting an all clear he flicked his tail from side to side as he stared at the water and the muddy ground beneath it. tiny fish fish not worth eating swam in the shallow water and Chinook hoped he wouldn't accidentally squish any of them.

Taking a deep breath Chinook bounded forward ignoring the gross feeling of sand and mud squishing between his toes or the fact that he seemed to weigh more the wetter he got. Instead Chinook plunged through the thick green reeds that held him back , away from the shallows and into deeper , proper swimming water.

Suddenly the ground dropped out from beneath the young Ulaya and he was fully submerged in water. Panicking it was only a warning his father had yelled at one of his siblings that kept Chinook from trying to breath underwater. Instead he closed his eyes tightly and blindly struggled to get to the surface.

Extended claws sliced useless through the water , fortunately for Chinook he's also spread his toes which created wider paws that pulled him upwards. Upon breaking the surface Chinook opened his eyes and gulped at the readily available air.

This was bad idea, he thought as he struggled to tread water. Not really certain what he was supposed to do, as his parents suggestiosn had been some what forgotten, Chinook was flailing about in the water.

Neither fish swimming or frog swimming worked for him both methods merely dunked the poor child back into the now murky water . It was only after employing his surfacing method that Chinook found himself making any progress at all. He didn't go very far or fast but he wasn't trapped in one place or sinking anymore.

Pleased with himself Chinook was too absorbed in making progress to notice the approach of his father. Once he saw the reflection in the choppy water however he ceased anything other than treading water. Even distorted the look on hsis fathers face put more fear into him than any he'd felt when underwater.

Chinook slowly turned to look at his father. Angry green eyes pierced into his and Chinook found himself unable to do more than mumble a pathetic sounding " Sorry." This had been a very bad idea.
