From what I gathered that they would probably make a FFVII remake after FFXIII is done, which could be done this coming year, but most likely 2009.

Though a FFVII remake would take five years to make, that's if we're going by the tech demos standard, so we may hear an announcement in a few years, but do not expect a remake to be out anytime soon, for it'd take quite a bit of time.

With them remaking FFIV, and FFV and FFVI probably following suite, and judging by what the devs had stated, that they have considered it, but they haven't started it yet because of FFXIII, I'm quite sure that we will see a FFVII remake after FFXIII.

That's just my guess though. I would absolutely love to see it happen, FFVII next to Xenogears and Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time, so if it happened and it was done right: i'd probably have a fangasm.

I don't think they will. The DS cannot simply handle a remake of FFVII, while the graphics obviously are better, it just doesn't have the right memory in the SD cards.

If there was to be a port, it'd probalby hit the PSP. They could even remake the entire game using Crisis Cores graphics engine if they really wanted to, infact I think that may happen because it'd be probably a rather cheap remake in terms of cost production.

As for a Wii remake? May happen, may not. It'd be interesting, really it would. Yet all the FFVII related materials have been for a sony platform, I just don't see it happening. I would love to see it happen though, for it'd look on par with FFX, maybe even better.

actually a friend of mine modded a PSP and put FFVII on it .... i saw him playing it the other day.... so i'm sure DS could handle it if the PSP can

The only real problem with the DS holding the original FFVII is that the SD cards just do not hold all the information, FFVII was about a bit more than a gig, and the SD cards only hold about 256 megabytes. So unless they start manufacturing SD cards that hold more information, it just wouldn't happen. Unless they did a two or three part deal and compressed it alot.

While the PSP has a memory card, which makes storage easy, and even the UMD holds about 1.8 gigs, so that could easily hold a port or a well fledged remake.

Just to let you all know, to be continued in Final Fantasy VIII just means exactly what it means. To be continued in the original. What you saw was only a remake of the first scene of the original FFVII and was only created for publicity. I mean, come on, if there was a remake, they would say, in Final Fantasy VII: The Remake. lolz

I'm hoping for a remake just as everyone else here, but to tell the truth...

The pictures on the first page are from the last cutscene in Crisis Core; Y'know, the game for PSP with Zack's history? It's the sequel for Before Crisis (mobile phone) and the prequel to the actual, original FFVII! I've seen the ending (totally stunning) myself, so I'm pretty sure about it.

No use giving up hope yet, though! They still might be doing a remake! ^^ Putting all those new, flashy FFVII reminiscence games on sale would make all those new fans (the graphic nerds who couldn't play the original because it was too old, perhaps?) craving for the original, wouldn't it? And f they can't get it for PS1, and they don't want to play it cause they think the graphic sucks, the would also beg for a remake. ^^
