in fact i read you post and i don't totaly disagree with the 100% originality.....i guess i could have been alittle more clear but yeah i agree with what ya had to say about it being slightly possible 3nodding

I think my username is original as i thought of it as a name for a pet kitten i wanna buy myself as a moving out present ( when i leave my mum and dads in the next year hopefully)! lol
so i want to call it sashmo and i want it to have a big fluffy head that it's lil paws keep stumbling over!
i was gonna use the doggie i wanna gets name (Quahbie) Pronounced Ku-ah-b but i liked sashmo better so that's why i think it's original!
but hey, we all have different reasons why gaia appeals to us, and the way we use it, some people enjoy roleplaying as their favourate character and some come to discuss subjects , some are just here for the social benifit... whatever the reason it's like a little releif from everday life to relax and i think that's lovely (etc)
there are many many reasons for picking a username and in doing so they choose a username comfortable to themselves which i cannot see why a person would find this annoying, surely that just means the one who is annoyed has way too much time on their hands to be getting annoyed about such a diddy thing
that is my personal opinion sorry to offend anyone in anyway !

Why do you think more than 3/4 of Gaia has to have a username with some character from anime or games in it?
Well, if they like a character or believe they are like one, then that would seem to be a good choice for them. Or, maybe they tried to think of something no one else had, but couldn't since they were taken up by people who haven't logged in since the day they have joined.

Not at all. Since, if you haven't noticed, I am one of those "unoriginal" users who has a name based of a manga character. And I also added the dreaded 'chan' at the end of it. But hey, I tried to be original. But I guess I wasn't creative enough to find something that hasn't crossed the minds of the other hundreds of users on here. I'm Tohya-chan. I have an unoriginal screen name. So shoot me.
What do you think makes a username original?
Names that end in numbers, or are little sentences like 'Imsosexy'. Also if it contains a name of an anime/game character, or has chan, san, or kun added at he end of it. (I believe this, even though I'm one of them.)
Really, is it so important to have an original name? For Bog's sake, its just a combined bunch of letters you have to think up of so you can join the site. I know it irritates people, but there are better things to be concerned about. The originality of your name shouldn't matter. What matters is whether you like it or not.

My name is orignal. Carie has been my favriot name sence I was little (I hears some lady calling out that name when I was at school once) and the name just stuck in my head. But someone on Gaia already had that name so I spelled it Kaerri. But I kind of like it spelled like I have my name. It's different, yet still orignal. blaugh sweatdrop

Well, I fiddled out "kageling" on my own, and I didn't use any kind of anime or other inspiration for my avatar, so I guess you could call it original.
Really, though? I just suppose that people can be as boring and insipid as they like, if it suits their fancy. Shouldn't do much harm, though it probably causes plenty of irritation.

my name (pronounced ahh- dree-nicks) was origonally thought up when i was watching a friend play final fantasy 6. i thougth the esper "tritoch" looked like a cross between a dragon and a phoenix. therefore a dragon + phoenix = adrinix

hehe ^ ^'' i think my name is pretty original
i created a character about two and a half years ago, who subliminally(sp?) looked like me, for a story me and my best friend were writing. there was a second character, who for some reason turned out like my friend- we named them Aya and Tuska.
then we started actually writing the story, and for some reason, it turned out- how suprising it was back then- a yuri story! bwahahahaa...
and so i learned i didn't like guys, and a relationship sprung from the pages of our writing book, and i loved it
sadly though, this relationship ended and i am stuck on her still, after about two years.
when i signed up for gaia, i decided it needed to be a more complex name, so i added Ma- and it sounded nice <3

I think people use anime names and the like because it's easy and you don't have to think too hard. It makes sense, though it WOULD be nice to see more originality.
I know my username is original as I have yet to see anything remotely close to it. Besides that, I made it up in highschool when my bf was trying to get a band together. Needless to say that fizzled out but I liked the "name" so I kept using it for this and that.
