You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Dakon followed Aria and Vinn into the structure, keeping his distance from the guard as much as possible.

~

Tanessa stopped after a moment, to rest her legs. "How much farther...?" She complained.

"About a mile," Cedric answered, eyes opaque and unfocused. "It will take us twenty-five minutes to reach the first house, walking straight."

Irwin walked in a brisk stride, his endurance ungodly from hiking mountains his entire life, "Barely enough of a distance! I'm not going to get the usual exercise on this flat ground.... four hours up a 45 degree slope? that's a good walk!"

---

The hall led to a massive door. a pair of guards (also in red) moved to open it.

((Tired of one-liners. Until it becomes important, Dakon is following Aria and Vinn.))

((And, I'll not post now, but next post, we'll just say that Irwin and co. get to the village. Where we hear... of an invasion. o_O))

((Goodnight! xD))

Raedou could not do battle with the Dark Knight with his umbrella in hand, so he threw it to the ground.

The gravity in the mines put much strain on his armor, but the suit was made of Gravitite steel, so his movements were only hindered slightly. He drew his sword and held it up horizontally in front of him, pointing at his foe in his Ganzian stance.

"My name is Raedou Ganzi." he bellowed. His deep voice echoed through the mines, pulsating off of the solid granite walls.

"I will not allow you to harm my friends." he yelled, "Defend yourself!"

He ran towards the Dark Knight, his sword clutched in his beast-like hand.
He moved a bit slower in the mines than he did in normal land, but that did not stop him...

As Perrault, Farfarello and Krestere wandered through the mines, the path got darker and, to Perrault's displeasure, scarier.

"I don't like this..." moaned Perrault, slowly withdrawing into himself, "Farfarello, could you poke out your stomach, please...?"

Finally, they came across an opening in the wall, most likely leading to the third level of the mines. Inside the opening, Perrault could see nothing in the pitch-black darkness, and believe me; he tried.

Perrault hated the dark. It reminded him of blackouts caused by failed research projects. Pretty soon, he began to panic again, except this time, there was childish screaming instead of enraged yelling.

"I don't wanna go in there!!! I hate the dark! It's scary and I hate it! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I..."

"Oh, for da love o' steel," growled Krestere, "SHUT DA HELL UP N' BE A MAN!!!" He grabbed Perrault and began to shake him a second time.

"Farfarello!" he yelled, still shaking the already-quite-shaken boy, "I'll hold 'im; you get on ov'r here n' slap 'im to 'is senses!"

"No, I will not poke out my belly for you," Farfarello had grown very irritated in the short amount of time they had been traveling together, and Perrault's constant whining really, to be frank, pissed him off.
So when Krestere presented such a wonderful opportunity to him, Farfarello gladly obliged... and curled his hand into a fist and hooked the side of Perrault's face. He wiped his hands together and said, "Lemmie do it again, Krestere."
Much of his irritation had ebbed away.

Krestere shook his head.

"No, da boy be calm'n down now..." he mumbled, "I can't let ye be doin'dat, Farfarello."

Perrault did calm down, and, taking a deep breath, nodded to Krestere, turned around and strolled into the cave.

He poked his head out of the darkness.

"Are you guys coming...?" he asked weakly.

Krestere laughed.

"I be witchya, lad." he said as he, too, went into the darkness that was the third level.

A cold breeze swept through the Rantuinne Desert as Dinne looked around the arid wasteland, searching for a Horde beast, any Horde beast; something to kill and study.

He looked over at the Great Storm to the west. It had spread to the mountains now, and the elven scholar could not make out a single mountain peak, or anything, for that matter. He wondered where the storm could possibly have come from, but his mind drew a complete blank. Suddenly, a high, feminine voice called out from behind him.

"Dinne! I could use some backup here!" the voice said.

Dinne spun around and saw his friend, Emerelda, trying to fight off a small group of hulking beetles, each one with long ridges spread across their carapaces. The Alpha Beetle was with them, closing in on the young girl.

"I'm coming, Emerelda!" yelled Dinne as he sped down the sand dune and ran towards the Beetles, preparing a magic spell and yelling the proper words.

"PYGRUS KOS!"

A furious tornado of fire grew up from underneath the Beetles, burning them to a crisp and sending them crashing to the ground. Dead.

Emerelda sighed in relief.

"Thanks, love!" she said happily.

Dinne rolled his eyes. He and Emerelda were both scholars; partners in research, but Emerelda thought of them as more, and was constantly trying to romance him.

"What were you doing, challenging beetles without backup?!" he yelled.

"I was fighting them, of course!" said Emerelda, "And I was kicking a**, too! And, I learned a new technique!"

"That's great, Emerelda... really..."

Dinne turned around and began to walk back up the sand dune.

"Why do you have to be so depressed all the time...?" she asked, worried.

"What do you mean?!" he asked angrily.

"You never congratulate me or anything!"

When Dinne saw that Emerelda was tearing up, he sighed.

"Hey, Emerelda..."

"No... be quiet. I'm mad at you now."

Dinne looked away, annoyed at the girl's whining. Then, he saw something very strange... He gasped and tapped Emerelda on the shoulder.

"Don't touch me, you meanie." she mumbled sadly, "Only the nice Dinne that I love with all my heart has an all-access pass to my body."

Dinne snarled in disgust.

"This is no time for your little games, Em! There's a Sandworm head out there! We have to go check it out before the Colossus gets to it, so get off your a** and follow me!"

Ephlas muttered something about using swords, not rocks, but only began to stride around the battle, alert and ready should magic become involved. If it didn't, he wasn't too worried about Raedou, who could handle himself quite nicely.

Besides, as he skirted around the battlefield, Ephlas came nearer to the visual manifestations of Deep Magic gliding along the wall. This would give his spells a potency that they had never known before. He had no idea how much so, unfortunately.

His rocks were still in his hands, poised to accelerate to the speed of wind and make a porous potato out of the Dark Knight's head.

Oh, and Ephlas was whistling, too.

"A Ganzi?! Has the alliance become so fragile that you attack our kind now? It has been ages since a Ganzi came to these mines... and yet instead of the usual information and company, I receive the edge of a blade?" The Dark Knight declared in outrage, the blade swinging for effect and obliterating a rock behind her.

"If it's a battle you desire, it is a battle you'll receive..." The Dark Knight's free claw made motions that a Magi wouldn't recognize, but a magi would feel the sudden buildup of Deep Magic swirling around the Dark Knight...

"Skurruta Animagos Cirset" The Dark Knight said quietly. Violet bolts of lethal dark magic covered the Dark Knight's blade, Hashmal's glare turned towards the magi on the edge of the room, "You shall not steal the gems of Elysia. The others tried, the supposed 'mind-breakers.' Or the other seekers of the Arcanicite, but you will find only death... As long as it does not leave, I know the gems remain..."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 16, 2008 3:31 pm

((Actually, the 'Skurruta' is redundant in that sense. It forms a spell that would generically try to kill, which is as I said redundant in the face that the spell is already deadly, in its sense. Furthermore, there would generally be bad consequences if the strict rules of the spoken spell were not followed. In other words, if no one dies from that spell (unlikely) then it will continue draining energy until it kills Hashmal.

Too much logic? I'll shut up now. ._.))

Ephlas continued to inch along the wall, ignoring the Knight, but the sudden swell of power did not escape his attention.

The tethered release of magic surprised Ephlas, to say the least. Most knew nothing significant of Mythic, or any other ancient, magical language, to punctuate such a vague but powerful spell.

Using elements, and then in that structure, allowed the Dark Knight to formulate a spell with very vague and variable powers.

'Deadly Dark Energy.' So vague.

Without proper sentence structure, the exact meaning was not discernible to one's enemy, but this also wielded danger in the fact that spells were more likely to go haywire without the most exact structure.

"Wrot Letos," Ephlas murmured, but no immediate reaction came from this. Only the shimmering aura, skating across the wall and the ceiling remained, the only source of light available.

Ephlas still continued to move; Hashmal and Raedou were still not close enough together to begin a clash of blades. Ephlas had also retrieved Raedou's umbrella, and felt as light as wind.

This gave Ephlas a perfectly harmless, yet effective, idea. If only to implement it before casualty occurred....

((Also, when I realized that I took 'Borot' from K-JAG, I changed it. Ganzi clearly have their own, non-Mythic magical language.))

(That's what the motions with the free hand are for... As a Draon, Hashmal knows all kinds of methods that were used to regulate spells...That makes sense, I think...)

(good. I'd go on about Draons all day... making up things as questions arose... They are reptilian though... and the spike thingys on the back (in the pic) are also weapons, but are used for defense...)
PostPosted: Tue Dec 16, 2008 4:33 pm

((That's okay, Z; I don't mind, really.))

Raedou stopped in his tracks, and spun around to stop Ephlas and Clem as well.

"Stop! I think I know what's going on here." he said calmly.

He turned back to the Dark Knight, and sheathed his sword. He then picked up his Penumbrellity and slowly limped towards the Dark Knight, and spoke a word that only she would understand, if she was who Raedou thought she was.

"Draon."

There was a long silence, and then Raedou said it again. "Draon!" He laughed and coughed at the miraculous sight.

"I cannot believe it!" he said happily, "A Draon knight! Why, we Ganzis thought you were all wiped out in the War of Seasons!"

Raedou bowed so low that the beak of his helmet touched the ground.

"It is such a blessing to find a friendly stranger in these dark times."

He stood up and held out his hand; he was sure that a Draon would not fear the grasp of his hand like most humans have... Draons are very strong.

"We have not forgotten the alliance, and we never will. Tell me, what is your name, my Draon friend?"

"I am Hashmal, Known by both Draon and Ganzi as Hashmal the Dread, enemy of the Horde and Draon Darkcaster" She moved her claw in a spread-out palm, causing her spell to dissipate with a disappointed crackle. She moved her sword hand to the Ganzi's palm (her blade slicing into the stone and standing straight up, a testament to it's shapness), grasping with a strength that no human could have matched. "Wiped out? No doubt the Horde... The very reason I trained down in these mines until Lady Elysia visited me... Have you any news of the surface? Did Lady Elysia do well with the Arcanicite pendant? I apologize... there is no sun or device to tell the time in these mines... I believe I'm woefully outdated in terms of information..."
