Kiori was so busy mashing potatoes that she barely heard any of the commotion.

seeing red, jackie turns around to storm out of the kitchens, when she sees another elf cuddling with the cat. "is that your cat?" jackie demands, her voice deep with anger

No, no. My cat is a cute little tabby, and is quite clever enough to stay away from someone who would throw her... But I just might take this one in. The poor kitty... *pets the cat and it purrs*

i would rather take hagrid's drooling, lazy dog fang over a destructive, self-important, stuck up cat any day. did you see what that creature did to my book?

Kiori heard Jackie's very loud complaints. Kiori, hating loud noises, jumped off the chair she was standing on and trotted over to her. "H-how much wa-was the b-book?" she asked, afraid of getting yelled at for interrupting.

"Should Akhkehu be making cat food for our guest?"
Akhekhu shuffles through a pile of ingredients and begins to fix a delicious bowl of homemade cat food. Thinking that the cat might prefer a nice bit of tuna, he dices a bit that he had prepared earlier and adds it to the food. His concoction would smell heavenly even to the most finicky tabby, or so he thought. He placed the bowl onto the floor and stood back, his eyes hopeful.
"Akhekhu hopes the kitty likes it!"

turning to see who had spoken, jackie saw the nervous elf who had asked the question. she realized the scene she was making, and after taking a slow, deep breath, she replied, "it was a seventh edition copy of jane austen's pride and prejudice that belonged to my great grandmother; it was price less to me." tears began to well up in her eyes. the brown haired elf swiped her hand across her face to remove the tears, leaving a white stripe of flour on her skin. "i think i'm going to go see if there's someone who can fix my book." she knelt to pick up all the scraps of paper.

Kiori felt a great sadness in her heart. "I heard that the wizard's could mend things....why not ask a teacher?" She knelt down and helped pick up the scraps.

You're upset over a book? Sounds pretty selfish and materialistic to me. You hurt the cat, and now you're complaining about a book... how petty. Why would such a "priceless" book be in the kitchens with you? If the book was so "priceless" I would've hidden it. This is no excuse to harm a creature.

Wow Akhekhu! The cat really likes it! Can you make more? I'd like to keep the cat... and I've never seen a cat eat so happily... I'll take the cat for now... *leaves with the cat and comes back ten minutes later*

While she was gone, Akhekhu prepared a few packages of cat food, so that she would have plenty for a while. He happily placed a makeshift bow ontop of each package and held it out to the misses.
"Thank you, miss! I'm glad the kitty likes it! Here's the rest of the food you wanted. Enjoy!"

having a cat in the kitchens is unsanitary. imagine the disease ridden fleas it could be carrying, and it could be leaving hairs in the food. and the book was safe in my pocket until the cat cut open my pocket.
